A mate of mine is a Sunderland fanatic who feels we will destroy them tomorrow. I'm worried about a banana skin!

Hi Eds
How much would you value Barkley at if he does have to be sold or used as part of a deal to get a player or players in.

He is far from the finished article but is now an England international who I think will go to the world cup.
If he does go and has a good tournament his stock value would go through roof.

Not that I want to see such a prized asset sold and hopefully if we do reach fourth we will be able to obtain further investment which means we don't have to say. I'm just worried that the club could really be tempted with the right offer after the world cup.

{Ed025's Note - its hard to put a figure on it AW, he is a precocious talent and could turn out to be world class, chelsea want him, and will try to hold us to ransom if we want lukaku i am told, i personally would tell them to shove it mate..

I am with u. I like luka but I would prefer barkley to stay. Hopefully we will keep luka and add to this current squad and not lose anyone.

I would be absolutely amazed if there's any chance that RM would even think about transferring Ross Barkley (or, come to that, Seamus Coleman or John Stones or whoever) - no matter what amount of cash or player exchange(s) we're offered. Our club is in a totally different financial situation compared to when we transferred Rooney. Also, we don't have to sell to buy having already generated a surplus when moving out Fellaini, Anichibe and Jelavic and not having spend all their fees so far.
In my humble opinion, unless a player agitates for a move, RM will do what he has consistently said: retain our best players and reward them with better deals, bring in players - permanent and loan - that improve the group, and develop and bring through our young talents.
He's the right one, he's the bright one, he's Martinez!

I think and hope that if we do reach champions league we will have a kitty of 30+million love lukaku to stay but might be better option to buy two cheaper stickers we have by far some of the most exciting youngsters in the prem in our team with Martinez and some backing in the market this summer I believe we can challenge for even more next season round to b an everton fan always new our time would six points next two games b great no matter wot happens its bin an amazing season let's hope this is the start of great things.

Nicely put cow

If I had to take a guess, I think that we've got much more than £30 million to spend. James McCarthy was supposedly bought without the Fellaini money therefore; Fellaini -£28m, Anichebe -£6m, Jelavic -£7.5m, Heitinga -£2m? That's well over £40 million, plus the extra £20m we'd get from being in the Champions League. Obviously this is all guess work and I have no idea exactly how much we have to spend although either way, it does appear that we have a considerable war chest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres more to transfers than just the fees to buy and fees to loan, add to that we have debts and run on a loss don't expect much if anyth just lieing around

{Ed025's Note - we have got money to spend mike, and a reasonable amount..

All this nonsense about the loan system from Wenger drives me insane. How can you moan about somebody who is doing a better job than you on limited resources. What I think is unfair is the way he can go out and splash the cash on Ozil. A transfer fee nearly 3 times as much as our record. I was watching Arsenal fan TV to watch them Gooners moan and half of them wanted Wenger out. Ridiculous.

I remember after a Stoke game where his team had been done hook line by the Rory Delap throw. They couldn't cope with it on the day. In his post match he said it should be banned and the rules changed to say you can be offside from a throw in. He even said players should be allowed to kick it in, effectively saying you should have a free kick for every time the ball goes out of play. Funny enough, Delap has moved on and retired, no mention of throw ins from Mr Wenger anymore. Are we seeing the pattern here?

Agree0 Disagree0

God. I pity the day a keeper saves a Arsenal penalty. Wenger will say keepers should not be allowed in the goal when penalties are taken.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol

but it's ok for Arsenal and Wenger to send x number of kids out on loan each season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simply sour grapes. After the way we took them apart last week, Wenger is now clutching at straws. He knows that their cup game is a banana skin waiting to happen and he's obviously concerned that we play tomorrow when we could (and should be) above them in the league.
He knows that he's taken them as far as he can and that the fans have now turned against him after their fiasco of a transfer window. Let's now finish the season in style. one game at a time without getting above ourselves. 4th is ours but we need to be patient and have belief in Roberto.

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny how the loan signings weren't a problem where they took us out 1-4.

Odd that.

The Telegraph are reporting that Rooney has a chipped bone on his toe & will miss the Everton clash due to an enforced rest. I think in light of this news, if we put in a performance like the one against The Arse, another handsome victory is on the way. we now need 3 wins in our next 3 games against Sunderland, palace & Man U. & we'll nearly be there! :-D

All the rumours about our best players going to arsenal, Man U, etc our manager going to blah blah is the legacy that moyes has left behind. He did build solid foundations but unfortunately under his regime we did become a smaller club who couldn't fulfil the ambitions of our best players. This will all pass in time and we will, once again, be regarded as the massive club we are in the eyes of the press. When we qualify for the champions league we will have the right type of focus on our club and then maybe you'll see the likes Man U and arsenal having their best players continuously linked with moves to the merseyside giants! Remember the 80s? I can see a shift in the balance of football power returning to it's rightful home MERSEYSIDE!

Pablo this is a great post but let's not get above ourselves. One game at a time. This run in is difficult and we need to be cautious of the bottom teams rather than the top ones.
