Whether it was a red card or not, it was an unforced error and given Jordan should really have saved the free kick as well, i'm happy we were never really torn apart at any point. Mina and Zouma will only make us stronger as well as Digne. Bernard in for Snids and i think its exciting times ahead. Special praise for Richarlison, thought he was excellent today. So refreshing to be away from last years dross. 3 points would have been great but we still got one point more than i think we would have done last year given the same circumstances. In Marco we trust. COYB NSNO.

Yeah Pickford moved the wrong way but he did make a great 1 on 1 save. I'm only saying because I think too much is made of his mistakes without taking account for some outstanding saves. Maybe it's the cross the England number 1 has to carry? And it was still a wicked free-kick.

Spot on Myteam. There’s plenty to give Pickford praise for. He’s still very young for a keeper so let’s just enjoy the fact that the expectation is high for the lad which hasn’t happened for us really since Big Nev.

Not bad result considering had 10 men for whole second half feels like defeat though. Richarlison proving his quality today. Baines played well properly best we've seen him play for while.

Maybe what Baines needed, a decent left back to challenge him.

Baines looked good but I suspect it was the quality of Richarlison ahead of him and supporting him that made him look like his old self.

Really happy with that performance today. shame the ref got over excited when he had to step up, we were cruising until that moment. But the desire was back today and we looked hungry - a moment rarely seen last season.

Let’s hope the competition for places is keeping everyone on their toes. Onwards and upwards lads! Oh, and Richarlison’s second. absolute class.

We played with purpose. We played with organization. We played with passion. These are three things wereare missing last year. The first goal was an excellent shot after a bad ball placement on the free kick. The second goal was a defensive lapse but that is why we went and found 2 More Center backs at the deadline.

I believe we have seen Jags last start. Evertonians should give him a great round of applause for his years of dedication, blood, sweat, and tears. Thank you, Phil.

Now what will Big Ric’s nickname be?

Not a red card, a yellow card, or even a foul, it's a contact sport, he played the ball, FIRST, contact thereafder is insidental.
Perhaps the FA might ponder on why not one english official was asked to go to the world cup, it's not complecated, we my have a great competition, but we have had to stack that with talent from the rest of the world, perhaps we should consider bringing some of there refs. Today proved ours are not up to the job.

11 Aug 2018 21:26:22
I think that's the end of jags £75,000 a week and you can't control a side wards pass I'm sorry but I'm was a red card and he should apologise not only to his teamates manager and every blue at molynux inexcusable for a seasoned pro to do something like that wolves were done they had no idea how to break us down until he done that although he made that great save in the second half pickford should have saved the free kick did you also notice Holgate bollocking scheinderling for not blocking the cross for the 2nd equiliser.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it was clumsy but not a sending off for me Tc, we all know jags (who has been a great servant by the way) is only filling in until mina and zouma are up to speed mate and i dont think he will play a lot this campaign..

11 Aug 2018 21:54:55
Absolute crap TC! If you think that is a red card then you need to get your eyes tested, it was a harsh yellow at best! Yes, his first touch let him down but it wasn't malicious or dirty. The free kick should have been moved back 6 yards but fair play to their lad, what a great strike.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Aug 2018 22:42:29
How was it a red card?

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Aug 2018 23:09:58
If it was a red card there will be many more this season! Jags has never been dirty and he made a genuine attempt to get the ball. Technically it was a sending off but in reality, refs would send off one in ten of those!

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 08:16:23
Yes it was a red not because of the foul he's the last man therefore he is preventing a goalscoring opportunity when the ref tells his side I bet it's not for violent conduct it's because he's the last man look whose the nearest man when he makes the tackle it's keane who's at least 10 yards away sorry boys it's a red coyb.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2018 08:43:34
Only a yellow for me but as Ed025 says clumsy and a poor first touch and as the main talking point detracts from the fact that’s Keanes positioning for the second goal was also poor, thank god we have options to come in.
But the positive was our reaction to the equaliser and fight shown with only 10 men!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so wakka, i really enjoyed our tempo and with bernard and gomez still to come and the central defence hopefully sorted we could be in for a good season mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 21:12:45
That performance was inspiring. 100% better than pre season. The lads today know there battling to keep their places and raised their game, unlucky not to take all three points. As Merson said on sky sports Everton would prefer to be playing Man Utd today than Wolves, wrong again Mers.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 21:00:14
That was a difficult start. Not wolves but having to have that guy reffing the game. He looked way out of his depth and should have took a minute for the jags tackle. However, for me, Jags should not have put himself in that position and caused his own downfall.

Aside from that I don't think anyone let themselves down. I know some are having a go at Snids but he didn't have a bad game. Even contributing to some forward passes for a change.

Defnsively we looked really good today. The first goal was a mistake by Pickford and his looked way off his best with some terrible kicking. However, I blame this on the world cup and only just coming back.

Keane looked better when Holgate came on and Holgate for me added the pace this defence misses. Baines looked much like himself but Seamus was utterly brilliant. He was good going forward and at the back was an absolute rock.

Theo seemed a little out of sorts attacking wise but did do his duties pretty well. Same with Sig. We used the wings a lot today and therefore Sig wasnt as influencial as usual but then taken off due to the sending off ended his day early.
Plus up front we have a guy that will run all day. He should have put Theo through but I can't blame him for ahving a go.

Ricky. £40m. Waste of money. Paul Merson dear me. I hope this guy is okay because he is a superstar about to happen. He was brilliant not only going forward but he helped the left defense and Baines all afternoon. He's still a kid and you can tell that he has so much more to come.

Finally, Silva done a really good job today. He had them calm after the red card in possession and organised without. The zonal marking for the corners worked perfectly with everyone attacking the ball in their area and had the flanks flooded so they couldn't get past and get the ball in the box.

The second goal was dissapointing but Seamus didn't know whether to move out and close down the cross or stay with the attacker just behind him. Snids had moved a bit too deep for me inside the box and should have stationed himself on the edge but tired legs probably got the best of them. The two CB's marked the space instead of being closer to the men with Holgate two yards to far away.

As for Wolves, I think they may struggle. They don't seem to play with any pace or urgency and are far too deep. I was expecting a lot more from them to be honest but that back line of theirs is pretty terrible. It's early for them as well and they are intigrating a lot of players so who knows.

Overall though it was a good start for us and they will gain spirit from not only getting a point with ten men but also in how they played. You feel we will only get better.

11 Aug 2018 22:00:33
Agree with all of that. Red card could have been a hello on another day but he should know better than to go in off the floor with his studs up. I’ve seen players get away with far worse but it was reckless.

I think once Mina is in alongside Keane, Holgate or ZOuma and Gomes is in for Schnids we’ll cause teams a lot of problems. Particularly when you’ve got Lookman, Bernard and Niasse to come on with half an hour left to terrorise tiring defenders.

I think Wolves will get better once all the new players have settled in.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 20:33:38
Even though we went down to 10 men we still attacked, not park the bus big sam style. Wolves are going to be very hard to beat at home this season, I personally think the Vibe is positive and if Usmanov comes in that Vibe will go gangbusters. Good times for us Everton fans!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 20:19:11
Hats off to the way with 10 men we still chased the game and tried so hard to get a winner. Tough on Jags. Was it really a sending off? If so I expect we will play lots of games this season against 10 men! Well done the whole club and well done the players on the pitch. No blame anywhere for anything from me. They all gave 110% and no less!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 21:02:21
It was good to see the confidence back in them Degsy. I don't think it was a sending off either and the ref for me was a bit clueless. A decent start and should give us all confidence we can get three points next time out.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 21:02:59
I’m gutted we didn’t win for the players sake. They deserved more than a draw. Great character to take the lead with a man disadvantage. If we show that kind of spirit at Goodison the place will be rocking.

Wolves definitely have quality, but I think they’ll finish about 3 or 4 places below us.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 20:14:19
Snides on borrowed time for me only keeping that shirt warm until Gomes is up to speed!

Passing was poor and weak in the tackle! but to fair to him he did break up play quite well in the last 10 mins which disrupted there rytham which you wouldn’t have seen last season,

Keane did ok look more comfortable with jags taking to him than him having to do the taking - (Lescott was exactly the same need a leader at the side of him) I think once his confidence is back and when he realises he has big competition we might start seeing a decent CB

Paul Merson a massive two fingers up to you for your comments about Richalison! Only one game I know but work rate and that second finish was top draw!

Early days but signs are there that Silv might get a tune out of these lads! With new signing to slot in

Onwards and upwards blues.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 21:07:57
I thought Schnids broke up play long before the last 10 mins, not a fan of schnids but he broke up a few Wolves build up play whether with his chest, his head or feet, and played the simple pass when needed.

Still needs to be consistant but happy with the better shift he put in today.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 21:41:19
I come over as harsh on Schneiderlin but I just do not see the same player as some of you. His simple pass! to me is his laying the ball off as quick as possible even if it puts the receiver in trouble. The Schneiderlin of the first season was breaking up play, striding forward and putting in some cracking cross field passes. Don't know if it is the coaching prior to his arrival, but I was impressed with Silva today (as someone else said no brolly needed) , with Gomes and Bernard, Schneiderlin will in my opinion up his game and coupled with Silvas coaching, perhaps we will see the original back.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 20:14:06
I thought that when we went 2-1up. We should of brought Walcott off to put another midfielder on. They had too much space. Even though I am happy with at least a point.

Jcl mate I've never been happier with a point, we've signed players we need who fit into a system. Was great seeing Marco soaking on the touchline guiding the team. Richarlison looked class, young hungry with plenty of skill to back it up. I know its only early days but we look like were going to go head to head with whoever we play. Hopefully we've finally lost that inferiority complex that we've had for so long.

Can we get off Keanes back. I personally think he had a good game, and you could hardly blame him for the second. The guy had all day to make the cross and Keane was marking two in the middle. If you want to blame anyone then blame the midfielders for not blocking the cross in the first place.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Aug 2018 20:03:57
Schneiderlin should have done more so that goal was also on him. I lost count of the number of times Keane played the ball straight out for a throw though. Thought Holgate looked far more assured than Keane.

I posted earlier about watching Wolves a few times and how they reminded me of the Everton side of the 80's in particular how they do not give up and tend to double up in the tackle. Having said that was impressed with the majority of our side today. If Silva can meld the new lads into the team and keep the intensity, determination and most of all build consistency, we have the makings of a very good side at last.

A good game 2-2 instead of 1-1 and once Silva deems them ready the two new CB's will make all the difference. We need legs in defence. As for Schneiderlin, will someone please tell me wtf successive managers see in him that we are missing. Nearly choked on my dinner when he made a forward pass, I have seen more committed tackles from 11 year olds on a Sunday morning park than those he makes, it is called timing Schneiderlin lad.

Cant fault our cbs for me, its always been our dead midfield, i wldnt have snide or gana in at all, no point winning the ball back to do nothing with it? But its out the way now, can't wait to see the new boys smash it 😎.

11 Aug 2018 20:09:07
I thought Gana had a decent game. Broke play up very well and looked to push forward. Problem is that he’s having to do the work of two people. Hopefully we’ll just play Gana at home once Mina and Zouma are bedded in, then we can have another more attack-minded midfielder.

Baines and Coleman had very good games IMO. Tosun and Walcott put shifts in but had no supply after the sending off. Richarlison was outstanding.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good summary there windsor..

11 Aug 2018 21:01:20
What I meant by two new CB's in, is competition. Didn't Silva say he wanted two players for every position, well he has that now. I am not including Jags in this, the lad has been terrific for our Club (and Baines to be fair) . Think Mina will come in along side Keane at first, then Digne for Baines and Gomes for Schneiderlin. Can't think where we are going to slot in the little fella, thought our 3 behind Tosun (going to be some player that lad) , played really well.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Aug 2018 18:26:15
Can't agree that that was a red card offence. Yellow definitely, but the ref, not one of the PL's best, overreacted imo. We wer doing OK until then. Nothing spectacular by any means but ok. Now we have to concentrate for the second 45. COYB

Since I’m not an Everton fan I feel I can lay this out without bias’s, for me it’s one of those where you’ve got away with one of its a yellow and you feel hard done by if it’s red. It’s right on the cusp for me but if you slide in like that you run the risk.

I think a good guess Nsnoblue would be a standard set-up of: Pickford, Coleman, Jagielka, Keane, Baines (Digne if Silva has seen enough) , Gueye, Schneiderlin then Walcott, Siguurdson, Richarlison, with Tosun as point, both Richarlison and Walcott are perfectly capable of working right across the line. I know it won't be easy but if I can see stats that show shots on target and good possession then I will feel happier.
I would also like to see us stick to an attacking formation home and away and not resort to a lone striker.

I know this has been said before but I really feel that this is the new start for the club that we hoped we would get when moshri first came into the club. It just feels right now this transfer window has really just about ticked off all the major areas of immediate concern it's only a start but comparing the squad to where it was 12 months ago it's totally different I think in a weeks time we will quite possibly only have 3 players that were in the starting 11 for our first game last season gana, pickford and sigs I think that's a massive turnaround and fingers crossed all works well
But now it's time for us the fans to do our bit and make goodison the intimidating bear pit for opposition teams that it used to be not the downbeaten old shell that it's become we won't get it right straight away but it will take time we need to do our bit
Kenwright has done his bit
Moshri has
Marcel and Marco have
So really it's on us now to help and aid not criticise and belittle

I think we have just gone through what has to be our best transfer window in years

Yes, some might argue that some of the signings are untested in the Premier League. Yes some were second stream players for their previous clubs. Yes some seemed a bit expensive.

But

They are all quality players who have commanded big fees before, They are all quality (I'm going to keep repeating quality) players that answer our problems in central defence and left back. They are quality players that improved enormously our flexibility/ options in midfield and attack.

At the same time Brands, Silva and their team have moved on many of our top earners who weren't going to get starting positions in the new structure

Great respect to Marcel and Marco for doing this. Great respect for Moshiri for giving them 110% support. Some have said he not an Evertonian but he has backed us up big time this close season and to be fair in the past with the stadium etc. If another non Evertonian, Usmanov, comes in with him and shows the same support we will be extremely lucky

I Echo what some others have said. It now up to us as supporters to SUPPORT the team while it beds in. For the new signings it's the start of pre season again plus the old squad has to learn how to play with them and visa versa. IT WILL TAKE TIME, OUR SUPPORT AND PATIENCE

I believe we took massive steps forward this window. We might now stumble for a bit but then - watch us go

I don't know if the quality is as high as you state. only time will tell us that. but for sure the positions and age of the team has been addressed the way I wanted. As you know, I moaned and moaned about the age of Jags and Baines. I moaned that we had let Williams and Mori go without replacing them. I also moaned and moaned about the imbalance of the left side of the team. both dfensively and midfield. That has been addressed. I moaned at how we were so poor at defending set pieces and were particularly poor in the air. Mina should certainly help there. I also moaned about a lack of creativity, bothe Richarlison and Bernard have brought some creativity into the squad. I moaned about Shneiderlin. we will have to wait and see how the manager sets up the team on that one. but yes all you say is true and I am a happy bunny as the season starts. Even if we are thumped today we have players ready to address all my concerns of the last 2 years. I must add that Tosun and Walcott were also in this and rather than slag Allardyce off, I would say he did actually stabilise a club in decline and did his little bit too. So now we wait and see what we are producing in 5 or 6 games. By then we should have an idea of how the team will be set up and if the "quality" is as you say. I certainly know the fitness and age will be better. And the balance of the left side!

Degsy Every signing is a gamble. Has Pogba truly proved himself yet to Mourino, has Shaw, Lindelöf, Rojo, Martial? And that is just some of the doubts at Manu United never mind the ones that haven't made it at Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal

No one, I repeat no one is guaranteed success but what Everton have demonstrated is a willingness to go and try and succeed. Instead of still bringing up doubts we need to shout out the positives. Who would you have brought in different? I can guarantee you that there would be others doubting your picks.

You've said it, they have addressed left back, they have addressed an aging defence, they have addressed creativity in both midfield and attack. They might not have got it totally right - only time will tell but at least until then just get behind them and SUPPORT THEM!

I hope you have learned a valuable lesson this summer Degsy.

The pages and millions of words you've wrote on here this past few months and the negativity you've shown has been completely unjustified and hysterical hyperbole.

To the supporters on here that have allowed the manager, DOF, Board time to make things right this summer - WELL DONE in SUPPORTING your club!

They went out and done exactly what EVERY Evertonian this year wanted and delivered a great window for us all.

Before you try Degsy to take the credit, none of this was because of you. They didn't see what you or anyone on here wrote and thought "hey that Degsy knows his stuff". You saw nothing different in what we needed to any of us at the club, we just had a more supportive way of going about it. It was all the club with no input from one of us and that is where the credit lies.

For the supporters who have given them the time, you are the ones we need at the match every game supporting the club. The ones that didn't give ultimatums of "i'll give it 5 games". Or slag off the manager at every opportunity with unrealistic comparisons of his commitment and ability.

The others like the Degsy's and DFS's, I hope and pray you either stay away if your going to moan all game or you put it to one side for 90 minutes and give your all in SUPPORTING the men on the pitch.

Why? Because it's going to take time. We are going to get beat in some matches. We are going to play badly in some games. Some games we'll look absolutely shocking and bloody awful. We may in some games look worse than we ever have done.

That is the pain we are going to have to get through.

However, over time the players will get used to the style we want to play. Understand the instructions from the manager. More windows to get more players that fit Silvas phylosophy.

For me we have tried every window, every season with every manager and player but it's never been the right fit for whatever reason.

However, this summer feels different and I'm always happy to put my faith in the club. Its not blind but it is patient and it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

{Ed025's Note - to be fair john degsy and DFS have expressed an opinion on why and how we were not performing and for me thats fine, negative yes but blind faith can also be a problem and it would be a dull old life if we all thought alike mate..

He can borrow a pair of my old platform bottom shoes. That used to boost me a couple of inches

Anyway Smitt - did you get all you birthday presents?

No - but maybe next window. With the signings we've made I think Gueye, Gomes, even Sig could all be looked at unless he shows a better attitude. It's up to him and it's good to not get everything you want all at once. It's character forming I'm told. that's why I describe myself as charasmatic.

I get that ed and oppinions are great especially when they differ from mine as I get to see the other side of things but I'll be honest these two can be draining. Degsy's 5 or 6 games here is shameful.

Me though on a lighter note cannot wait to get stuck into this season. I'll take whatever comes with a pinch of salt both ways good or bad.

Bring it on!

{Ed025's Note - im not expecting miracles to start with john, but i think we will slowly improve as the season goes on and when the new boys are integrated be a force to be reckoned with...thats my hope anyway mate..

This is why we all love the game. 22 players, 1 ref, and about 10,000,000 would be managers blabbing on as to why we were good or bad today. Every club has a Degsy and DFS. They do wear you down at times but we would not be without them really. I really feel positive this season and believe we could challenge Spurs and Arsenal in that top 6.

Cautious optimism is sensible, we know we are not amongst the favourites to win the league so an improvement on last seasons final position should be viewed as a successful, transitional campaign. The last DoF set us back quite a bit but it seems that Brands knows what he is doing and has delivered for both the manager and us fans. It really is an exciting time, especially after the false dawns we have had to endure of late.
I'm not entirely convinced by Silva but he has my total support, hopefully he will show, over the 38 league games, that the board made the right appointment, maybe even a decent cup run thrown in the mix.
Degsy, I think you should change your stance of judging after 5 or 6 games, if that is the case. It may take that before we even see some of the signings in the first team and it certainly won't give us much of an indication as to where we will finish come May, it will take a bit of time for the squad to implement what Silva wants and expects from them. Practice makes perfect, as they say. All of the points you moaned about have, as you mentioned, been addressed so just chill and hop on for the ride!

agree with bluejohn degsy your posts are so sad you go on as if you are running the club and if you are the only one that new jags baines and williams are getting old just pathetic every other everton fan knows this but you make a point of posting it over and over just so you can feel good about yourself and say you predicted this who do you think you are saying the team has bin addressed the way you wanted its laughable im going to predict two things that after six or seven games if we have not started well you will be on here boasting that only you seen this and the other is if we start well you will not post on here for a while which you have done in the past.
