Cant believe there are people giving Ancelotti stick already. We've wanted a winner as manager for years and now we have one people having a pop already. We know last week was a disaster but none of the players were his. Give him time for gods sake.

He’s had too many games in a short period to really get to work with the players. We have to be patient and allow his methods to bed in slowly over the rest of the season and then allow him the summer to recruit more thoroughly.

There were fans giving Silva stick 2 weeks before he'd even managed a competitive game for us.
It will be the same with Ancelotti too.
Some supporters just don't know how to support.

That's just stupidity having a pop at Carlo.

I know mate. Twitter went mental when Sigurdsson was made captain. I am not a fan of Sigurdsson at all but Ancelotti made him captain so get over it. Going on social media and ripping in to one of the most successful managers of all time is just embarrassing.

Smit666, I was one giving stick to Silva even before his first game in charge. This guy will get no stick from me. The reason is obvious.

11 Jan 2020 18:53:46
Idiots all of them we need a good 2 years at least to sort this out. It's just the nature of the social media beast unfortunately. People often speak before they speak.

Saw some encouraging signs today. We will get better.

Micky Flanagan was spot on about this. "remember when society hid stupid people"
Some idiot let some of these specimens breed and now they can be found in the corners of Twitter, projecting the impression that someone is listening to their mindless thumb bashing. Unfortunately the less tech savvy help fan the flames and spread this rubbish. NSNO is littered with fan rage, dressed up as an attempt at journalism.

Well DFS hopefully you can now see that Silva wasnt our biggest problem.

There are a half dozen players here that are rotten to the core and even a world class manager will have his work cut out until he gets rid of them.

Good shout Smitt.

Echo that Smitt and GB, the performance (never to be mentioned) last week was worse that the one they produced for Silva and looking back I feel a tad more sorry for the man as there are clearly some players who imo need either shipping out or miracle like improvements.

Silva was part of it, but the player recruitment is what's stuffed us, fair to say we punched above our weight with moyes, but he bought players for his system, then Walsh/ koeman silva/ brands bought players like kids in a toy shop, Ancelotti will buy players to fit into his system, he will work with what he has for now, but expect big changes down the line,

12 Jan 2020 12:32:59
What is most annoyinh, is Walsh was tipped as being a scout who looked deeper than a players ability and stats and paid a lot of attention to their mentality and background.
But then bought the weakest minded players I have seen for as long as I can remember.

It’s not all player recruitment though that’s a very sweeping statement and tarnishes a number of players with the same brush!
I think Richarlison has been a great signing
So has Bernard and Lucas Digne
Mina has taken a while but I think he will be good for the squad as one of four
Gomes was a good signing cut short in his prime but wish him a speedy recovery
Gbamin and Kean I feel will be good just need to show some patience on both for different reasons
I still feel our biggest issue is losing Gueye! The man was immense and covered up so many others shortfalls like when players stroll past Gylfi and he can’t catch them or shielding Keane from being exposed at the back!
I have faith that a man of Ancelotti will address these areas given the time and I still feel Brands is the right man for the Director of Football role.

I loved the summer business and none of my half dozen were signed by Brands. You have hit the nail on the head Southern Toffee almost all pre Brands have question Marks about them.

12 Jan 2020 21:33:28
Iwobi is the only Brands buy that has ‘blotted his copy’. For me, we went for one player . didn’t get him and went for plan B who for the life of me I can’t see why. P. S. I also don’t credit Brands with Richarlison. fair play to Silva that would not have happened without him.

Well that proves it Var should be binned now, we should have got 2 if not 3 Penalties blooming joke.

Things like offside ridiculous. Should be whole body offside. Handball, easy enough to see if an advantage occurs or deliberate. Also it has to be the referees decision, (I. E. Monitor at side of pitch) not some person sat miles away.

11 Jan 2020 17:48:59
The tug on Walcott is not even debatable it's a blatant foul that impedes his run towards goal! The system is corrupt and is still being monitored by the same incompetent bias officials whether they are on the pitch or not.

12 Jan 2020 07:54:07
It should never have gone to VAR the ref bottled it as it would have been an early red too.

{Ed025's Note - dead right mate..

12 Jan 2020 09:52:12
Yeah I just can't see how the tug on Walcott wasn't pen. The refs need mics so they can say how they have come to the decision. Blatant pen. Var gets it wrong more often than the naked eye.

12 Jan 2020 10:53:47
I can't echo enough what DFS says about it having to be the referees decision and not somebody else situated miles away. We know that it's supposed to help the referee but it should be his decision as to what action should be taken and not someone in his earpiece. Pointless having the monitors at pitch side as they will never use them. We all have different interpretations of what we perceive to be fouls for example but there will always be a different viewpoint. For me VAR is taking way too long to decide an action and sadly killing the moment of the game (and the spirit) . I'll admit that I was all for it at the start as I thought it was a good idea but every week it's VAR as the main talking point, not a great goal or a player just VAR. It needs to be implemented a lot better than it is currently. Rules need to be changed as well especially regarding handball. My main gripe is that on every goal VAR is now looking for every possible infringement before or during the build up. Not clear and obvious errors like it was brought in for.

DCL: Diego Calvert-Lewin. A better performence today so far. Putting Sigurdson as captain rubbed me up the wrong way like. Can't believe I'm seeing us string passes together.

I was at the Brighton away when we lost. VAR played its usual part. But Brighton are a tough side with a couple of technical players. Yes we should be making more of our 1st half domination, just like the LFC debacle. But the crowd were dragging the team down and injected the panic. It was palpable. Good 3 points but we need to do more. Confidence is low.

What was the first away game you can remember, mine was at Blackpoll, in 1958, (I think) loved going as a kid, ground was bad, but the fun we had after the game, lol.

It's a fair comment toffee apple. Seems as though there isn't anyone good enough coming through doesn't it - given how poor we are, if lads that are 18+ are not ready to get into the squad after a performance like last week I think that probably says it all.
