Haven't seen much of this Rolan. Looking at his stats it doesn't excite me but stats can be misleading. has anybody on here actually seen this kid play? If so I would be grateful for any info on him. Thanks.

12 Jul 2016 00:20:59
just watched him on youtube, his 28 goals for bordeaux, looks very pacy and seems to put the ball away nicely, but most players look good on youtube, even niasse did!

not impressed with him, hardly prolific and with a name like rolan he could be a bit of a rat.

{Ed025's Note - sounds good to me Tbone, interest in rom seems to be on the wane mate..we may be stuck with him.. :)

11 Jul 2016 21:50:48
Its possible ed but still think 2 more strikers will make rom stand up and think i'm not the only striker in blue better pull my socks up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - competition for places will always do that Tbone, lets be honest last season rom had a free ride with only kone as a threat to his place..

From all the gossip from Finch farm in regards to Naisse, I would love to see Ronnies expression on his first face to face Naisse in action.

If Naisse turns out to be the player we hoped he would be could be a bonus.

If after the Austria trip RK splashes out on a striker, then the rumours will become reality about the guy being a cross between a circus elephant with a football and Alan Bailey.

11 Jul 2016 19:47:38
It would be a miracle more than a bonus lol.

Remember my friends, that during the trials and tribulations of the Transfer period, these numbers are important:

38: Premier League Games
25: Roster spots per team
11: Guys on the field
5: Teams in the CL
1: Ball

Every striker, midfielder, defender all can't sign for LC, ManU, Man City, Arsenal, and the Spurs. Chelsea ain't even in Europa.

Few players would want to show up a a "top team" only to sit on the bench, getting a run out in the last 5 minutes of a match or during early cup games.

Let RK do his job. He'll find the right players (and likely at a good price) .

Thought there was 4 teams in the Cl.

My Mistake. I couldn't recall if they had a CL play in game or straight to Europa.

Any of the following would be my choice as in comings;
Butland
Koulibaly
W. Carvalho
Schneiderlin
Mata
Wjidnaldum
Slimani
Milik
Haller.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2016 15:53:06
I agree Soli, I feel Butland is a non starter so maybe Ajax's keeper Cilseen (excuse spelling) and off the subject, looks like Witzel has gone to Napoli but to be honest I don't rate him and was more excited because he was a big name player.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2016 17:20:53
Agree with pauly. can't see butland being possible. Still, id enquire about him, forster, Schmeichel as well as paulys suggestion and see what comes back. Maybe aiming high but what's the harm. Don't know much about koulibaly other than he's well liked, carvalho, mata, wijnaldum, slimani and milik would all be quality in my opinion. In the interest of not suffocating our youth I would like:
Keeper (as above)
Rb (I think Kenny looks like a good player but maybe a loan would be better for him) . Not too sure who I would go for.
Cb- personally, I think we are fine unless stones goes. I would love bam dijk but maybe not possible (although for the money we are bidding for koulibaly? )
Cm - witsel/ carvalho would be immense
Lw - personally, this should be our highest target, potentially under gk. Don't really know about this one either. I actually really like fischer who signed for borough
Attacking- mata - the reason I say attacking is because I'm not sure where he would play. Don't want ross getting dropped but could play a fluid 3 with delboy/ mirallas ross and mata.
St - milik. I haven't written off niasse but it does look like we need reinforcing. This does depend on people like tarashaj and rodriguez.

According to the Echo website, the following 23 players will be travelling to the training camp in Austria:
Stekelenburg, Robles, Hewelt, Oviedo, Jagielka, Baines, Pennington, Browning, Galloway, Garbutt, Gibson, Barry, Cleverley, Mirallas, Deulofeu, Davies, Walsh, Dowell, Lennon, Besic, Grant, Kone, Niasse.
By my reckoning, that's 17 of our current 26 aged-over-21 players. (N. B. By the end of the transfer window, we'll only be able to register a maximum of 25 aged-over-21 players, so at least 1 of the 26 will have to go - plus any incomings will have to be balanced by outgoings. )
The 7 aged-over-21 players involved in the Euro and Copa America (Stones, Barkley, Coleman, McCarthy, McGeady, Lukaku and Funes Mori) are still on their holidays - as is Tarashaj who is still aged-under-21.
The 2 other aged over-21 players - McAleny and Rodriguez - are not in the training squad. Whether that means they're injured, or they're at the separate U21 training camp with David Unsworth (in Spain I believe) , or they're not part of Ronald Koeman's plans is a moot point.
The remaining 6 players in the 23-man Austria training squad are aged-under-21: Hewelt, Galloway, Davies, Walsh, Dowell and Davies.
It'll be interesting to see how the first-team squad looks by the start of the season - and by the end of the transfer window.

Good info as usual Sid. Be interesting to see who else will leave the club to make way for any signings we will soon (hopefully) make.

11 Jul 2016 18:45:47
Good post Sid, Rk will get the fitness levels up, the defence sorted, I can see kev M, Barkley both having a good season, Del Boy and Lennon, may even get Lukaku to sprint, you just don't know about a fully fit Niasse, not holding my breath but you never know, add the youngsters and I think we only need a few tweeks here and there.

A few coming up short of Rk expectations shipped out with replacements added.

A top class goalkeeper, defence sorted and a fitness level raised and better tactics and we are almost there already.

11 Jul 2016 19:03:56
Whoops! I mentioned Davies twice in the list of 6 aged-under-21 players in the training squad - one of those should have been Grant.
Still not sure about McAleny and Rodriguez. The Echo website states that the training squad is 23 players and doesn't have those two in the names it lists. The official club website doesn't state who's in the training squad, but just refers to it as a 25-man squad travelling to Austria for the pre-season training camp. I guess that pictures and reports from the trading camp will make clear who is and isn't there.

Ed, any chance of that transfer update? Cheers either way!

{Ed002's Note - This week looks ugly travel wise - perhaps when I get in to Monaco tomorrow night - else it will be Friday.}

11 Jul 2016 15:02:15

{Ed002's Note - I don't mind at all - a prod often gets me to get something done.}

Good week again pre season for efc so koeman can see his squad and what he has so expect another quiet week on transfers probably next week expect some movement.

11 Jul 2016 11:16:45
Cannot understand why everyone is getting so anxious that we haven't signed anyone yet. The Euros have just finished and the players have only been training for a week. I like the fact that Koeman wants to look at the squad to work out what type of player we need. I also like the fact that he has said he's willing to look at the youth setup and use the best youngsters in the squad, as I believe we have a golden generation coming through. Would you lot rather he just wasted Moshiri's millions on players that we don't need and may not be good enough?!

11 Jul 2016 11:36:38
Tommy you took the words right out of my mouth. I appreciate we're probably better off financially than we've ever been in recent history but what's the point in panic buying? As you say let Koeman look at what we've got and go from there. We supposedly have a crop of very promising youngsters coming through, let him look at them and then decide what we need instead of going out and spending for the same of it. I understand you often need to blend youth with experience but let him assess where we are and what we need and save the cash we have for another project. After all have you seem the price of new stadiums? They're not cheap.

Ha ha, I suppose it is a bit of a meat loaf reply. Not intended honestly. We used to play a game in work where you had to get as many song titles as possible into conversations with people who weren't expecting it. That always good for a laugh. But that's the name of the game I suppose.

11 players have been bought in the last 12 months, 2 were already here on loan, apart from mori and nassie the others are under twenty ones . really hope some of of them get a chance this season, getting really bored of all the papers spending our money for us. ARGHHHH STRESS. god bless my fellow blues.
