Looks like we're trying to hijack Palace bit for that jairo riendewald and ed hear anymore or still the same as a couple days ago. Also any ed know if we're in for a keeper eloy room?

Barkley not travelled to Tanzania?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

He has a groin injury.

11 Jul 2017 22:55:01
Groin injury, apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2017 02:50:08
Spuds fans have gone nuts at this news, but if it was anything other than an injury and we were set to sell why would they have bothered giving him a squad number? He probably will go but I don't think this is an indication of anything imminent.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jul 2017 08:24:31
I think this could be the biggest sign that he is on his way out.

They say he's injured, but so is Bolasie and he's travelled.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 21:03:05
Although Koeman has managed some major clubs like Benfica Valencia Ajax and Feyenord, it must be his first experience of having so big a transfer fund to use. all eyes will be on everton and him as we begin the league season. which is great. He seems to relish the pressure of having his choices analysed, so good luck, Ronnie. we all hope he gets that right blend over the different competitions which shows off the new signings but also gives hope to the homegrown talent which we clearly have among the younger players.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2017 20:37:09
This is where Koeman is really going to warn his money now. Just in centre mid alone we have:
Barry
Barkley
Basic
Davies
Gueye
McCarthy
Rooney (? )
Klaasen
Schneiderlin.
All of which apart from Mo and McCarthy would probably expect to start every game. My 3 probably change daily. But for our attacking element up top I think we need Morgan and Gana Gueye plus one other.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2017 22:53:53
Would hope for something like this:

Pickford

Kenny/ Holgate Baines

Keane Williams

Davies Gueye Schneiderlin

Klaasen Rooney

Sandro

Obviously with the squad at present minus Coleman and Bolasie. I'd have a slight preference for Kenny as he his a better crosser of the ball and a more natural right back than Holgate (not knocking the lad) .

Remember though Baz, Koeman is the one paid the big bucks (another excellent call by Moshri) and in Koeman we trust.

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Jul 2017 20:15:18
I would like mirallas in to add some much needed pace but no idea who I would take out of that team, koeman got some tough decisions to make!

No squad number for Keiran Dowell?
I assume he will go out on loan, but I hope he gets game time with a decent championship club. Anyone know anything?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2017 19:38:49
Maybe because he under 25, he doesn't need one? Where's Sid when ya need gin?

11 Jul 2017 19:50:14
geoffjohno, just been out with the wife date day/ evening (old gits) and it is after 1800, so gin was right in the first place as far as I am concerned. Ha.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 20:46:30
If he's under 21 he doesn't need to be registered in the 25 man squad but to play any games he would need a squad number.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 19:02:05
Whilst I am in no way complaining about our transfer dealings so far (I'm over the moon to be fair) I still think there is going to be one signing that is going to make the football world (at least the premiership) go wow. Whereas our signings so far have been good and will improve the areas bought for, I don't think there are any worldys. YET.
And i also think we need to move on from Sigurdson now. 50million is too much for him. He's not THAT much of a game changer, despite being Swanseas main man.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid the say that the football world doesn't say things like "wow" and clubs do not send out "messages of intent", and they are never on "red alert".}

11 Jul 2017 19:21:00
Well done Ed002. Very informative reply. as ever.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 19:36:37
Sorry to disagree Kingo but in todays market and comparing like for like Sigurdson is worth every penny of 50 mill. If Everton can get him for that they will do. Our problem is how do we fit all our existing talent and the new talent into one side. This brand new Everton for me is a revelation, one I have not seen for decades.

Agree0 Disagree2

11 Jul 2017 19:52:45
Fully agree with the sentiment of your post Kingo. We've improved well and are stronger but we're not top 4 yet. I think Sigurdson is a must but not at £50m, just like Ross is never a £50m player.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 20:05:10
I think we've made the gap below us larger and above us smaller. At this moment in time I fancy us to overtake arsenal at the minute.
I just don't see it with Gylfi. Yes he's good. Yes prices are very much inflated. But he's 28 next month and a 10 goal and 10 assists. Whereas it's not bad, considering he's the free kick and pen taker, for me it's not 50 million. For me, maybe 30-35m. But it's not my money haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 22:21:42
What makes a player worth 30 or 35 mil that is different to a 50mil player.

Don't worry about money. Just worry about will they make us better, help us improve. Sig does so let's get him. I don't understand why people get hung up on figures.

United have just spent 90mil on a guy with a poor work rate and no first touch but probably could have got Mbappe for around the same price that looks twice the player and six years younger. Then again they got Martial and he hardly looks like the 58mil player he was signed to be.

The player is more important than the price tag.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 22:59:52
Likewise, I don't understand fans who say don't worry about the money. At the end if the day, it always comes back on to the money. Niasse price is always mentioned. Even Kone throughout his entire 5 year contract was classed as a 5 million flop. And the difference between a 30m and 50million player is 20m which can get you an extra quality player.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2017 06:34:18
Do I want one player that fits my team or get two players that cost less that don't but I've filled more places on the bench?

Niasse and Kone were just flops. Nothing to do with money. It only comes back to money by those concerned with it. We are clearly showing money is not what is driving our transfer window but instead what players do we need to take us to the next level.

Thinking about money is a small club mentality.

11 Jul 2017 17:57:30

11 Jul 2017 18:49:19
If we can get Swansea to the negotiating table then we'll see what it ends up being. Personally I think he could be an important piece in the jigsaw but also is that quality goalscorer.

I think these two positions are going to be crucial on how we do next season. Every other position looks in good nick.

Why don't we try and get Costa. he needs regular football for the World cup. Its a no brainer for me.

After Lukaku and Stones, I do not think Chelsea will be sending any decent players to Everton anytime soon.

{Ed002's Note - Stones? Chelsea don't have any beef with Everton.}

I'm guessing Costa and koeman would be like water and oil. they would not mix.

Oumar Niasse given a squad number; should we be reading anything into this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2017 14:32:56
Only if Koeman gives him a locker. Then you need to be afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 15:50:40
IMO it wouldn't be the worst idea to keep him as a back up striker if we are looking to attack all four competitions next season. Although clumsy, he looked like he knew where the goal was for Hull and in Russia before we signed him.
If all targets are bought in then I'd still expect him to leave but I'm glad we're being cautious for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 12:23:08
No Signings since Sunday, Where's the Arteta money!?

I know we don't have any interest him but I would like to see the club take a punt on Tammy Abraham. Some are saying we need a big name but as stated before Lukaku wasn't a big name before we developed him into one.

Just a thought!

Can't believe how much the club has changed in such a short space of time both in terms of recruitment and the infrastructure of the club as whole. Credit of course to Moshiri but a round of applause for Kenwright too, patience has most certainly paid off.

No squad number for Tarashaj though which is interesting. He seems to be a forgotten man post Martinez.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think they will look for another loan.}

11 Jul 2017 16:52:01
Thanks Ed. Based on what you said previously it sounds like he didn't really have the most impressive loan spell last season. It will be interesting to see if he ends up having any future at the club especially as he seemed to be well thought of not so long ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are right - it did not go well. It is hard to see him breaking in to the first team unless perhaps he gets a loan and does very well.}

Benteke. its a big no from me. RK andSW get paid for this job not me but i know what i see. he isn't good enough i am sorry there have to be better options out there . watch him before the reds bought him and watched him since. thetes a reason only palace wanted him and not a bigger club.

{Ed025's Note - i am a big fan dunc i must admit, i just think we may be missing a physical presence up front so i would prefer a giroud type at this time mate..

11 Jul 2017 12:48:28
I hope so . we have gone forward at such a pace i feel this would be a backwards step . i can't say i have actually seen this fella play at pace we are obviously going for it big time so let's at least get someone a better quality in while we can.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 14:36:55
Interesting stat: Benteke has scored 17 league goals against Liverpool, United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Lukaku managed 14.
Benteke also scored more goals against Liverpool at Anfield than he did when playing for them, take into consideration the teams that they have both played for and you can't argue with his record.
We have failed to win against the so called bigger clubs away due to our one and only threat not being upto the job, Benteke gets goals and that's against both the top teams and lesser teams but most importantly he does it home and away. You can call him lazy but then so was Lukaku but fans still put up with that as well as his constant I want better jibes, we need multiple threats as we have been reliant on one mans goals for too long, if we get Benteke we have a target man, with Sandro a flair man and Rooney a wiser man, add to that the midfielder behind them and we have a plan A, B and C for a change.

Agree2 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 15:29:42
You read my mind bluegray87. I was sitting on the fence with the Benteke but I think your post has made my mind up for me. Your post are my exact thoughts on it. Options is what we need and if we sign Benteke even though I can't say I'd be 100% for it. It would be another option up front that we could have which would only benefit the team.

RK and SW know best so I'm needless to say I'd be happy if he came to join the revolution. We were happy enough with Lukaku getting the goals. Why not Benteke?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 16:59:04
With you two posters, a lot are writing Benteke off, he never got the service across the park from the flanks, they always play through the middle, we have the players to adapt to that but if you are going for a big centre forward to meet crosses, Benteke is not as bad as some make out and would get goals if given a decent run and assists.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 17:39:35
Benteke is excellent in the air, I remeber him scoring a beauty against us for Crystal Palace last season and to be fair 17 goals in 36 games for palace is a very good return he also scored 9 in 15 appearances for The RS the year before and they didn't play to his strengths. I would not mind if we signed him, based on those stats he is a goalscorer and we need as many of those as we can get. My main concern is palace paid £27 million for him so his price will almost certainly be around the £35 million mark which I think would be too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 20:11:46
£35mill for a recognised Premiership goalscorer who is still only 26 years old is a good price, its a third of what we have just received for you know who, NBTB I am not his biggest fan but his record speaks for itself and that is what our manager will be looking at, he is a handful in the opposition box but also good to have in your own box when defending, on age alone and were we are in our rebirth I would have him over Giroud.
A top 2 of Sandro and Benteke with Rooney behind is a nice thought add to that all these 3 can play as a lone striker offering different attacking options, and as we have touched on NBTB that is what we have lacked options and game changers.
Benteke, Sigurdsson and a punt on Adama Traore and we should be sorted for attacking options. We then have Schneids, Gana and Gaz Baz and Jimmy Mac if he stays as our central defensive cover, I feel then we just need a LB as cover and we are in good shape squad wise for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jul 2017 10:47:01
Amid attention from other clubs, wHen barkley signed his last major contract he spoke of how evertonians, himself included, felt when Rooney left for Man Utd. He can't have remained unmoved by seeing Wayne back and training alongside him. Barkley knows in his heart of hearts that scoring for other clubs is not the same as hitting the net at the club you were born into. Rooney might be just the figure to help him make better decisions in possession and inspire in him a desire to be part of the revolution at Everton. even if he has to battle for his place.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

11 Jul 2017 14:39:07
To little to late, the manager is the be all and end all and Koeman has began to make plans with Ross at the back of his mind, Ross could come out at anytime and say he doesn't want to leave and just wants better terms but he hasn't, to me that says it all.

I just think the strikers we have. Been lonked with over the last month seem to be floating away i wouldn't be disappointed with benteke i think he can score goals give the service which i think we have with the players we got in am not saying i wnt benteke am sayin i wouldn't be upset with him and agree there are better options only time will tell👍🏻.

Reported Wenger will not sell Giroud to us as he doesn't sell to Arsenal's rivals. A bit dissapointing we might not get Giroud but first time I've seen a top six manager come out and say they consider Everton a rival I guess they are sitting up and taking notice, the sleeping blue giant is waking :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - giroud for me bretto, i think dzeko,s best days are behind him and benteke is my worst nightmare..

11 Jul 2017 08:08:35
I know you don't like Benteke Ed but what you can't argue against is his scoring record. He got 17 last season for a side who were struggling, now I'm with you 100% about his workrate, but maybe that can be improved by being the top dog at a top club, as a target man he is good in the air and bullies defenders with strength, if Giroud doesn't come off then he is an option, would like us to get Arnie from Stoke as him and Bolasie either side of Sandro is a scary prospect for defenders.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i just cant take to benteke gray, i know he has attributes that can make him a handful for defenders but if hes not good enough for liverpool then hes certainly not good enough for us, i want us to get away from everything going through 1 striker and have a muli pronged attack and i feel giroud is that type of player who will not only score goals but will bring others into play mate..
