Fetfatzidis, olypimicas winger, Greek only 21, greeces answer to messi, this guy is pure quality he is a must sign for me, plays anywhere across midfield, very skilful him and katidis would be very good players for us.

Give the bank all the money to keep them at bay for 2 years or so and that way we wont have to sell and keep the current (young) squad together, rodders wont be missed i love him but i was never really gutted if he wasnt on the team sheet, take a few free transfer and bring the youth through!

BBC and Greg O'Keeffe saying the fee is £12million rising to around £17million.
SkySports and The Daily Mail saying £15million rising to £18million.
Not sure who to believe but i would say SkySports are the most reliable.
Really hope Moyes signs Lewis Holtby. Also, would like to see Matt Phillips or another speedy winger like Nathan Dyer or Adam Johnson. Would like a younger and more attacking right back. Shame we never went serious about Clyne. I think we should look at Malaga's Isco. Could get him cheap because of there money troubles. Linked with United aswell.

Daily Mail says £12m rising to £15m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all just rumours and guessing, the fact that its undisclosed is stupid really. lets just wait and see what happens?
Toffeepidge

Agree0 Disagree0

Reason they go undisclosed is so fans dont start 'cracking the sads' because they haven't spent every last dime, and then other clubs dont get a sniff of how much money you have to spend/or will accept if a negotiation starts.

Very sad to see another home grown player leave but it's probably the best result for club and player. However, £100k grand a week for an upnproven premier player is ridiculous - just remember all the Team GB stars in the Olympics and tell me if Rodwell desreves that salary - football has to get back to reality.

Really annoyed at this "undisclosed fee" business. My bet is that the Board don't want us to know what the fee was, so then we don't know how much goes to the Bank and how much is given to David Moyes. Communications from the Club remain unacceptable. {Ed051's Note - as ever

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Have you ever thought for one minute that the reason it is undisclosed is so that other clubs cannot hold us to ransom for players we are interested in? why say we have 15m, 20m, or 30m to spend lets get what we can for as little as we can....grbefc

I'm going to miss Jack, I think he was a top lad and is an Evertonian through and through. I don't know what other Evertonians think about it but I hope he does well. As long as he doesn't kiss the city badge whilst playing against us I'm happy for him to move on.

After the sale of Rodwell, there's been a new wave of "KenwrightOut" protests.
I have to completely disagree with these protests and I think they are absolutely ridiculous. These are my reasons m:

1) Kenwright & The Board keep the club stable. Many people disagree and say that they don't. However I remind these people that if they weren't keeping the club stable with our limited resources that we'd be plummeting down the table and possibly be in the Championship.
2) If Kenwright left right now and we couldn't find a suitable man to replace him we'd be playing Championship football in 12 months time.
3) I firmly believe that people are frustrated by Kenwright because we can't compete in the transfer market. Well to this I answer with this: firstly when Kenwright took over (and saving us from Agent Johnson) he was considered to have a good amount of funds. But now with teams like Man City and PSG, prices for players become higher and higher and Kenwright cannot all of a sudden make his income transform into billions of pounds. He has enough money to help keep the club stable but he can't spend money in the transfer market he does not have.

Just pack all this Kenwright stuff in.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

No way would we be in the Championship without Kenwright. Haven't you seen how much rubbish is in the PL

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if Kenwright went we'd have to sell our best players to stay afloat (the likes of Jelavic, Felli, Baines, Hibbert (lol) etc...so yes we would be in the championship

So Mr Mancini, Rodwell is now playing for a team who wants to win? You couldn't keep cittah in the premiership with our budget. Keep thinking your a top manager while it lasts mate. When your sacked, ask Davie if you can see what management is like in the real world. Even queen kenny managed to buy a couple of titles! Bet your glad timmy's gone. Maybe your £500million team will get more than 3 points from us this season. But then again, you can't buy team spirit!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even if moyes signs a new contract, we have the smallest squad in the prem, any injurys and where done for, only 17 first team players, not even a full bench

y0rksh1re_blue

p.s
with what money he's got, he as to buy
Ince and Phillips from blackpool,

two good young players, not injured all the time and will cost around 8-10mil for both, thats the only way i will be happy now

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt you rather have Holtby and a rm for like 4m y0rksh1re_blue?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really, the german league is crap, i lived there for 4 years, yeah holby is a everton fan, but it takes more than that, plus phillips is a RM and a good one at that and would cost less in wages,

plus if we got for 8mil that leaves 4mil for a backup striker, Rodes

ince 4mil
phillips 4mil
rodes 4mil

3 players for the price of one injure prone one

Agree0 Disagree0

Last post was mine,

plus i spelt Rhodes wrong...lol

but thats my ideal outcome from this

I hope I'm not being over optimistic but I've got a really good feeling about our great club at the moment. I know its all just rumours and conjecture but there's some really positive rumours going round about the agm, investment, paying off our loans and major share holders selling up and moving on that surely we're on the brink of something massive here. Couple that with the way the Ed's are playing their cards close to their chests with their candid replies to current incoming questions and queries and the feeling intensifies even more. Normally with our great club my hopes get built up then smashed back down again but I've got a strange feeling that this time its going to be different.

Its going round town that we are going to bid 9m for Dempsey PADDOCKBLUE

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Having signed Naismith, do we really need to spend £9M on a player like Dempsey?
Concerned Citizen

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we do dempsey can play anywhere across the midfield and he can play center forward too, 9m would be a steal

Agree0 Disagree0

He is 30 and had 1 good season since he arrived at fulham, personally I feel he won't do as well next season

Agree0 Disagree0

One good season at Fulham?

He has had one great season at Fulham and the rest have been very good seasons in a very ordinary team.

Dempsey to play in behind the front man, Naismith to stay out wider on the right, and leave the front man up front to penetrate rather than getting involved in the build up.

Disagree 100% with Tristen's post. After Agent Johnson's calamitous reign we could have gone under - look at other clubs who have been relegated or gone into administration while we are regarded by many as well run (albeit with no real money!) and a club that has 'punched above its weight' in terms of league placement. As for the personal abuse of BK...well, once you've built up and run a theatre business like him as well as working your socks off for EFC, then you might be in a position to criticise.

If i was moyes i would be looking at using the jack rodwell money on lewis holtby or clint dempsey, holtby being my choice younger and an evertonian himself. These type of players would be classic moyes buys because they're utility type players lewis holtby can play in the middle of the park and has been playing on the wings for schalke, and clint dempsey having played multiple positions for fulham. I would like him to bring in holtby and either ince or matt phillips from blackpool they would be good buys for me and would improve the numbers in our squad and the quality in the squad.

If this is true and we are paying off outstanding loans, then you have to think some kind of outside investment is coming in. Despite what we made in profit last year in player sales, and the sale of Rodders etc I can not see that would equate to the kind of money needed for this.

Of course new money in could mean new loans at better rates from another source, but in the current economic climate I would doubt that.

I suspect tomorrow could be a very interesting day.

Someone should explain to Roberto Mancini that 2 things that money CAN'T buy are dignity & class. His totally unwarranted & childish comments that Rodwell is "now at a club that plays to win" & "it will be a big change for him" prove that, even though he was an awesome player in his time, as a manager & a person he is pathetic.
Can you imagine Moysie ever stooping to such depths? No, neither can I. I'd like to see what kind of a job Mancini would do if he was under the same financial constraints as Moysie! He wouldn't last half a season.
Anyway, best wishes to young Jack. Personally, I think it's good business. Rodders never really seemed to be a real Everton type of player to me. He didn't seem to have the passion needed. Hopefully, Moysie will re-invest wisely, (as usual) & we can have a real season to remember. COYB!

It must be like the day before payday at Goodson.... Youre skint but you know tomorrow that your bank balance will look boss and you can spend like a gangster rapper as soon as the funds clear..... Or in our case buy a quick winger to chip in with Pienaar etc..... Any ideas who we're getting Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or pay it back to the bank to pay off the debt. Which is what will happen. {Ed051's Note - when the rule comes in about players and money in clubs, you will see man utd, liverpool, man city, in trouble as they are running with big debts and spending more than they bring in, everton are paying debts off and are also not that much in debt when all money comes in. we are running the club the right way as far as the new rules that come into play. i could be wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

You are sort of wrong there Ed. Basically the FFP rules mean you will only be able to spend a percentage of your turnover, debt does not really come in to it. For example Man Utd turnover 500mill but the make a loss of 120mill, it's the turnover that will determine what you can spend on players. It's why calling the stadium the Etihad was a clever way of City owners injecting cash through football related revenue rather than owners investment as that does not count towards turnover. We need a new stadium or higher ticket prices to get us from the 75-80mill turnover to 150 or so we would need to mix it with the big sounders.

y0rksh1re_blue

see my post a few down and thats realistic

Agree0 Disagree0

Current world class players are obviously out of our wage bracket anyway.. I was leaning more towards the idea of players who have the ability to prove world class ( you're correct though, liverpools activity in the market unfortunately proves you can spend 15,20,35 mil on one average player nowadays) However what I meant stands more in line with our previous signings of Cahill, 1.5 & Arteta 2.5 - nobody could argue they weren't world class at their peak.. I believe with 15 million, Moyes could definitely buy 2 players we see go on to be significant and indispensable to out club! {Ed051's Note - totally agree mate

I grew with Evertonians who were ALWAYS known as being knowledgeable about the Game and knowledgeable about our Great Club with an appreciation of the Manager and Players we have had over many many years. But I see again today that the snipers, the so-called fans are already calling for Bill Kenwright's head.....AGAIN ! Wise Up and give the Man the credit he deserves, but NEVER receives. If Kenwright is as bad a Chairman as you educated people are insinuating, then why hasn't David Moyes left Everton before now? Why has Kenwright persevered in the face of personal insults about himself, his partner and even his Mother (RIP Mrs K)? Because the Man knows just exactly what it takes to run a Club of Evertons Stature, and that means NOT just any Millionaire that comes along, and after a short spell does a "Peter Johnson" and runs our Club into the ground, like Leeds Utd,Notts Forest,Portsmouth...and now look at the once mighty Glasgow Rangers ! We must have been offered serious money by Man City for Jack Rodwell and I believe that out of all of the much touted transfers this one is acceptable to most fans rather than lose Baines or Fellaini. Rodwell has not shown his full potential here as yet as well as having had injury problems. Nobody yet knows what is going to happen to the incoming Transfer Fee but as usual the Lynch Mob is already out! With a bit of luck Kenwright will shortly announce some new Investment, maybe not a Takeover, but what do we know. Moyes will be given some money to bring in players & Kenwright will carry on supporting his Manager to the best of his capabilities in what is a very difficult economic time for a number of Big Football Clubs, not just Everton FC. Get off Bill Kenwrights back,He needs to know he has total support, not constant flak if He doesn't produce millions for some of these greedy mediocre footballers we are linked with. The Man bleeds Blue. {Ed051's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

Better the devil you know is a saying not a comparison and i for one totally agree with this poster the usual teams are mentioned who have fallen on hard times but we should also look to malaga who were own by a member of the qatari royal family who spent millions on players and paid big wages only to pull out and leave them up the proverbial creek without a paddle so kudos to bk keep it up mate the grass is not always greener.....grbefc {Ed051's Note - thanks for getting my point across

Agree0 Disagree0

The board are not perfect, we know that. Football today is not about transfer fees, its players wages. Everton pay pretty good and that is why a high % of our income goes on it. Otherwise a lot more players would leave and we would be fighting relegation. Arteta for example took a pay cut for champions league football. We have just sold cahill and yobo. 2 big earners. I would expect maybe 1 big signing and a couple of loans.

I don't understand why people straight away are blaming the sale because of the bank, it may be because of this but if your only reasoning behind it is because it was out of the blue is silly. If Man City came in with around 15-20 million which reports suggest then no wonder we accepted it, as much as I like Rodders he's injured half of the season and doesn't get chance to progress. As long as we get in at least two decent players then I think this is a great move for the club COYBS

About 2 months ago I posted that Landon D had sold his house for 5 million and was on his way to us. He also stated he was an Evertonian and would one day return either as a player or supporter. I also pointed out that Phil Neville was badgering him to join and the only reason nothing was happening was that we could not afford him. Moyes said yesterday that he still wanted to strengthen the right side of midfield and have a back up forward player. Landon fits both criteria. Moyes also said Landon had changed our season 2 years running with his short term loans. I think that LA Galaxy are struggling and lost again last week. I would guess that all these facts point to Landon being over in the next few days and having a medical. If not I will eat my old bobble hat unless the moths get there first. Mark my words, I am usually spot on with my guesses. Degsy (not Degsybluenose) {Ed025's Note -

Although I am disappointed to see Rodwell go, I can see the logic behind it. Of our saleable assets he would probably be the one who would be least missed, as he was not guaranteed a starting place, and we do have several good young midfielders coming through, and young Duffy for cover at centre back.
I would like to think that DM can strengthen the right side and add to our attacking options with the proceeds.

15 million for a player who i have seen yet to progress and who is injury prone and i would have personally seen rodwell go over barkley. this obviously meens fellaini is staying which is the best news we could have wished for now lets get a decent player in with what money we are allowed from the transfer fee.

Wish Jack all the best at City, it's a shame about his injuries but I still reckon we got a good deal for him!

Rather Jack go than Felli or Baines.

Moyes better get at least half of the money so he can do what he does best and snap up a few bargains. C.O.Y.B!

So, Rodwell is off. First off, lets not panic here... Rodwell has potential, but that stands for nothing if one doesn't achieve said potential. He's spent largely the past three seasons on the sidelines, having the occasional good game interspersed with mediocre games.
Secondly, we have more than ample cover in CM with Gibson, Fellaini, Osman, Junior, Barkley, Neville - 6 players for 2 positions, at least. Yes he has showed some quality in games, the dribble against United which he topped off with a goal, but then players like Jeffers showed promise, proving potential isn't everything.
I agree its frustrating that we seemingly sell our "best players", but I feel we need to take solace in the fact that Moyes only ever sanctions deals he feels are beneficial to the club. We don't know what Moyes' plans are, whether he has Phillips lined up, or Ince, or Johnson or even a permanent for Donovan. Perhaps he has a RM and a RB lined up, we don't know. However, I implore everyone who is saddened and angered by this news to think back to when we last sold one of our prodigies - Rooney. With the money we made off of that deal, we pushed on to qualify for the Champions League Qualifiers and, dodgy officiating not permitting, we would have made the groups.
So, in short; think positive and place your faith in Moyes like we always have, safe in the knowledge that this deal wouldn't be happening without his say so.

Let's say 15 million up front for rodwell I reckon you could split that up to get

Johnson loan
Ince 1.5
Phillips 1.5
Rhodes 4
Bertrand 5
Guidetti on loan

And the back can have the cash from selling anechiebe

What world are you living in 1.5m each for Ince and Phillips more like 5m each.

Been reading about the Rodwell deal all morning, glued to SSN, who believe that the fee is in the region of 20 million, if this is true, then this is a fantastic deal for the club. however other sources are ranging the fee at 12 mil rising possibly to 16 with add ons, ( i find this more plausable)

Rodwell has never reached the heights that he has promised, he has been crippled with injury after injury. And although many of us feel that we cant keep selling our young players, we also have to look at the other side of the coin, we cant hope that players are going to finally blossom. If all our players are fit i can not see Rodwell getting into our side,! this deal may allow Moyes to bring in 2-3 players and push us on as a club! think what Moyes could do with 10 million cash, never mind 15-20 million! That is after all if Moyes gets to see some of the money, have a feeling its going to be a very interesting final 3 weeks of the transfer window!

I wouldnt have chosen to sell Rodwell. He has massive potential and will be a big player in the future. But his sale reduces the pressure to sell a big player like baines or felli. If we are getting 20m for him, i would be more than happy with a double bid for phillips and ince and a young Rb as a long term replacement for hibbo. Rest can go to the bank. my team for next season:

Howard
Hibbo jags johhny baines

phillips felli gibbo pienaar

jelly naismith

Subs:
Mucha (or replacement)
Buzz
Neville
Osman
Barkey
Ince

leaves one more space on the bench for a youth player, coleman or a young Rb

I challenge anyone to disagree with me when i say that looks like a quality team. IMWT as always!

Cropper

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I'd like us to go for Holtby as the RM, would be an excellent addition but Phillips would eb good too. I suspect that Vellios would be the final player on the bench. {Ed051's Note - I would love holtby

Agree0 Disagree0

If your gonna challenge people you could at least get the amount of subs right!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure premier league reams get to name 7 subs. If im wrong then I apologise for pretty certain....

Keep forgetting bout velios but can see him goin on loan especially if we bring in a striker. Ild really like Holtby just haven't seen as much of him as I have Phillips.

Cropper

Agree0 Disagree0

So with £15m, you would buy two players from the Championship? Real eventful {Ed025's Note - if phillips was one of them, i would be quite happy..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes they do dropper but you've put 6 subs an to ever said Holtby as RM, he is a CM not a RM

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes iv put 6 players but if you would like to take a look at my post I acknowledge that there is a spare place. Dont get fellow blues trying tonnage a show out of another blue sorry! Phillips looks class and did for Blackpool im the premier league in my opinion. Ince looks like he has a lot of potential and we can't buy a big striker cause there not gonna start before jelly. A lot of top players have been bought from championship an below so don't rule them out straight away.

It's just been announced on Sky sports news Jack Rodwell has been sold to Man City. A deal in princable has been reached. No selling price yet disclosed. Wow never saw that coming. David Moyes must have a few players in mind to buy in now. Sad to see good young talent go. But maybe 2 good signs to replace Rodwell and we will be happy.

Can't say I am happy to see Rodders go, however, as someone else said we have Barkley to step up, so long as DM is given the fee to strengthen the squad where he sees fit, we will be okay.

Man City after Rodwell ... I say sell him due to his injury problem. What do we charge though? 20 mil the press is stating but what about

10 mil cash
Johnson

Thats cash for the bank, a striker and a mid and 5 mil for a defender.

Johnson.....Naismith.....Pienaar

If Man City really want Rodwell moyes should tell them to give us £10/15Million and Adam Johnson.
Mirror saying Chelsea and United want him aswell.
I dont think Rodwell will be a big loss to us and with the money being rumoured for him we could get players who will be more important to us. Also, with Junior and Barkley we have class players for the future and who are more than capable to fill in if Gibson or Fellaini get injured. Rumours of moyes scouting Ross McCormack from leeds and i wouldnt mind him if it was low price and he wont be on the biggest wages ever. I would like to Stracqualursi back because when the opposition's defenders get tired he could cause mayhem coming of the bench. Might not be the technicially gifted striker but at 24 he has time to improve.

TonyEFC {Ed025's Note - £10-15m + johnson?....very optimistic tony..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

What about selling Rodwell to city for 16m provided they loan us Johnson for the season, with us paying half his wages and having first option to buy at end of the season. Could that be an option that us Evertonians would be happy with.

Evening chaps. No opinions regarding if we should sell him or not ....but nice and simple....name your prices for Rodwell...

I'll start, I'd ask for 15m + AJ..
Would accept 10 though.

I think it's right we dig our heels in over selling our players.. Look at spurs regarding Modric, "meet our full evaluation or he stays"....

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I'd take a straight swap,i know rodders is younger but as they stand now johnson is the better player and would impact the team more than rodwell you'd be lucky to get a couple of mil as a sweetner let alone 10-15 plus johnson

Agree0 Disagree0

Serious questions, why would city want rodwell, who would he replace in city's team and why is rodwell, a player who has basically never done anything valued so highly?

Agree0 Disagree0

Before i even read this post i was thinking that 10 million and johnson would be plausible. 15 mil +johnson would never happen. And if we do sell rodwell to citeh then i do hope johnson could be part of the deal. Just imagine him on the wing!

Also, payed for my first friendly last night (should of just got a link) and although the result wasnt what we wanted there was some very good link up play with pienaar and naismith. they hit it off in the athens game and it showed again last night. nice neat passes and good movement from both players. i just cant wait for the united game to see them tear s*** up. Exciting times fellow blues :D

DraperEFC

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest id take a straight swap with johnson if offered. Rodwell is so injury prone and has yet to fulfill the so called potential. Johnson is proven and would be a massive boost to our team
