Reus, robben and ronaldo

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonathan Biabiany linked as well for mil ed 025 d u think we are after 2 wingers with atsu being one of them

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its possible bretto..

I don't know for sure, but the apparent delays in the Henen deal do seem to indicate that we're having to be very careful with the club's spending - not only transfer fees, but also the annual wage bill. On both those financial fronts, I imagine that - besides being financially prudent - we have to stay inside the financial fair play limits. Only when we can bring in a great deal more commercial income - all of which could then be used for more transfers and higher wages - will we be able imho to do more of the Lukaku-size deals and afford the improved long-term contract extensions for all of our young talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sid - I think the hold up over henen is about sell on fees not 1-2 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny swan we all wish we could have them why don't u but ribery hazard in their aswell I meant realistically

Like realistic players I want? Ooooo, considering lfc were at one point favourites to sign barkley (which they never had a chance) I wouldn't mind a cheeky bid for sterling (of course this is going with the stupid comments made by tabloids) but properly? Some decent players I like, eduardo salvio at benfica, memphis depay (we have no chance but if spurs do then we must do), wouldn't mind gerri back on loan, adama traore looks a superb talent, i'm a big fan of matt phillips at qpr, those are just a few names I like, not sure of interest or if realistic, but i'm a fan of them, wingers I don't want that have been linked or our fans want? Sinclair, if he can't buy a game at west brom he isn't good enough here, takes a penalty, well done, konoplyianka, tore kyle walker apart (who hasnt?), very one dimensional, chris brunt, sweet left foot, nothing more, milner, has none of the things a winger needs, ben arfa, obvious reasons, ashley young, god awful, gnabry, lol, townsend, I've said why, chadli, useless and there are many more awful players we are linked with, yet worse teams than us (spurs, newcastle and southampton) are linked with, and are apparently signing great players, I don't know why they love to make us out to be a club only after shrewd 3m signings, which have continued depsite breaking our transfer record, its a joke, "realistic" is a bad word related to everton nowadays

Agree0 Disagree0

True but them type of players are realistic to us hahah

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2014 22:20:55
Its definitely att mid and striker needed I defo reckon Loic Remy would be the answer to a lot of questions, options could be Sinclair from City, Andy Townsend from Spurs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Some interesting players being mentioned, but we need to be mindful of the rules about squad sizes (especially how many non-homegrown players we can use) AND we must also be mindful about how much we can increase our annual wage bill under the financial fair play rules (especially as we've given some players improved contracts, and made some loanees permanent, and brought in some new players already).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it would be just our luck to get punished by FFP sid..

Ed025

Re-FFP punishment

Just imagine the street cred :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it 247..

So Kone might be available in about 5-6 weeks?
I will wait with baited breath for that, before he goes to the African Nations in January.
Anyone else think we got Konned out of 6m?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2014 22:06:23
He won't be going

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not waiting with bated breath, but I am waiting to see how Kone does if he stays injury-free and gets a decent amount of game time to prove his worth - or not!

As I sit and wait for kick-off,
I hope my prayers are just enough,
To see my beloved Toffees stuff,
That sh*te across the Park.

"Why just them?" I hear you say,
"There are other teams we have to play, "
"And European clubs to slay, "
I know it`s all quite stark.

But here`s how I see it panning out,
And with our squad we have a shout,
Add 3 more signings and we`ll have some clout,
then on a glory trail embark.

If we burst out sharpish from the traps,
Catch them all having naps,
They`ll look to get some Everton Apps,
To copy the Roberto spark.

New Year see`s us in the hunt,
That top 4 we`ll give a shunt,
Moyes watching saying "I`m a cupid stunt"
Whilst sitting in the dark.

Now come May It might get tricky,
with a build up of fixtures getting sticky,
Big clubs come, we take the micky,
They just can`t cope at Goodison Park.

And as that Final whistle blows,
The season shudders to a close,
And our trophy cabinet overflows,
Martinez is making his mark.

So when it`s over and analysis started,
Will we be Blue`s broken hearted?
Will our season smell like we`ve farted?
Or Will this year be an Everton landmark.

Here`s hoping we have a good one, really looking forward to this season. Sometimes you get the feeling that you are privileged enough to realise that something special is taking shape. I know it`s early yet into Roberto`s appointment, but there seems to be more optimism, more enthusiasm, certainly more positivity from the manager himself, surrounding the club. The modern day footballer needs to be told how special they are to the team, how important they are and this man is capable of talking up a whores drawers, even the board are releasing some money, although I refuse to believe the Rom money was paid in white fivers. Just feel this might be our year to really make a statement of intent and ruffle a few feathers. Anyway let`s hope so.

Hi Ed, how much do you believe we have left; how big of a signing could we potentially make, money wise? Is someone like Bacca impossible? Or Remy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its hard to say pat, but if bobby wanted someone of that ilk, then im sure it would be sanctioned..

I have every faith in bobby to make the right moves as he knows more than I will ever know but I lwud love us to get remy or bony, would also take micah richards if he's available for nominal fee

anyone wonder why a move for zaha hasn't been rumoured, even by the anyone to anywhere garbage reported by some of the tabs? not mentioned much at Trafford centre and must be worth at least a loan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're probably not interested in him because:
1) Maybe RM believes he's no better than players we already have; and/or
2) There are better deals to be had for players that play his position if we want to recruit someone; and/or
3) Perhaps he's considered not the sort of character to fit into our squad; and
4) that's enough reasons, surely?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would say so sid..

12 Aug 2014 18:34:08
Alex song is a new one I've come across today. Opinions? Looks like atsu loan will be done at last and in time. Hopefully we will have a full list to choose from for what I think will be a tough test at Leicester.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we're covered in the midfield area.

I see Mark Hughes is openly trying to unsettle Nathan Redmond just like he did lescott a few years back. That man has absolutely no class whatsoever. Can't believe he wore our jersey.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's clearly been influenced by the ManUtd (SAF bullying) and ManCity (money overrules all principles) schools of how to run a football club.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2014 18:43:21
Once a manc always a manc, you only have to look at Neville jumping ship; but there again look we're that got him. None of them has an ounce of class.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember the year after lescott left hughes was at fulham cryin when arsenal wanted schwarzer. and I thought then. get lost you hypercritical s.o.b

Here we go, only 96 hours to go until 9 months of joy and misery, can't wait. COYB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - lets hope the misery is kept to a minimum azul..

12 Aug 2014 15:40:05
You're right Ed, normally my glass is half full but unfortunately sometimes in football you have to take the rough with the smooth.
You know the feeling, you wake up Saturday morning (or a lot for us this season, Sunday) full of joy and hope and then by 5 or 6 o'clock everything's seems rubbish after we inexplicably get beat by a team we should have beat.
However if you weigh that off against the unbridled joy of thrashing someone or going away to say Arsenal and coming back with the points or witnessing a wonder goal ala Barkley against Newcastle last season then it's all worth the agony.
I'm like a kid before Christmas at the moment and can't wait for kick off.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant either azul..

I'd be satisfied if we play expansive, entertaining, winning football throughout the season and we qualify for Europe again. Anything above that would be great, but it's only year-two of RM's work-in-progress and he's only had three transfer windows so far to reshape the squad - and it's only this transfer window that he's had substantial funds to invest and the time to get deals done for the available players that he wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm looking forward to this season,

we have a group of players hitting their prime and in past season really performed

behind them there is a great group of 20 + year old with very promising futures with us just securing their places in the first team

Adding to that our youth and reserves teams are looking strong as the have in many a year,

I could list ten 18 old years or young that could be pushing for first team game time this season without thinking about them, many names are pretty much widely know and will be our future very soon.

bring this season on!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good post that BOTN..well done mate..

12 Aug 2014 14:55:05
Does anyone think we have any chance of winning the Europa League and qualifying for the CL that way? This is the first season the winners will be given a CL place I believe.

Fulham made it to the final a few years back so why not? Its possibly easier than trying to get top 4 in the Prem.

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its a long hard slog mate..

I remember Middlesbrough getting to the final too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finishing high enough in the Premier League must surely be the priority.
Doing well in the cups would be a great bonus, but finishing in the top five of the Premier League (perhaps lower depending on who wins the cups) would qualify for Europe whereas only winning one of the three cups next season will qualify for Europe. (Runners up in the FA Cup final will no longer get into Europe if the winners qualify by other means. Hull City are the last to qualify that way.)

Martinez has confirmed in an interview that Atsu is sorted and will be finalised this week. Would love Nolito or Bacca but being realistic maybe another loan and Ben Arfa would see us with a decent squad- as long as the loan is a striker. Kone did score 14 goals in the Premier League in a poor team so hoping he surprises a few of us!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just be mindful that we can only name 17 non-homegrown players aged over 21 (born on or after 1st January 1993 for the 2014-15 season) in our Premier League squad AND for Europe we have to include players under 21 if they've been with us for less than two years - which means players like Lukaku and Stones (even though he's homegrown).

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2014 12:35:30
Don't understand this work permit business with Atsu? does he not already have one with Chelski?
does he have to have it transferred?

& what's going on with this Henen transfer? He's been training at FP for ages. If we can't agree a fee, then move on, Saturday's O.K. is looming near.

& why are we playing pre season games behind closed doors? have we signed somebody in secret?

I (puzzled) Claudius.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - work permits are foe each individual team, henen transfer problems are over sell on clauses and related bonuses not so much the fee, the wednesday game was to assess fitness more than a game..

Good clear reply that, Ed025 :-)

ed? or anyone, do you know what team played last night? I know Lukaku mirallas and Barkley played that's about it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What? Surely someone's cousin of a friend of someone who knows someone who works with a bloke who was walking his dog near where the match was playing has been given all of the details (maybe some photos or video on their mobile phone) that they can exclusively reveal to the rest of us. Normally there are plenty of posters who can't wait to reveal all - but nobody has the inside info on this.
How strange - not!
;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been told that we played Sheffield Wednesday last night and we won 4-1, Lukaku got a brace apparently.

DM linking us with Kalou if he's being released on a free by Lille is he really good enough for us?
Not exactly set the french league on fire think there are better alternatives just because they are free not always good business!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - fair comment wakka, we were linked with him a couple of years back, but now i think he will just be looking for a last pay day, so not for me mate..

12 Aug 2014 11:01:15
30 goals in 66 games, a lot from the wing? I think you'll find he's well and truly set the French league on fire and has been linked back to all the top prem teams. For a free, he'd be great business.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2014 11:15:51
Agreed ed, only wants the last pay!, he proved during his time at chelsea he couldn't cut it in the prem, like a headless chicken when he plays, not good enough, free or not

Agree0 Disagree0

Not of he, but who - other than RM and the club's recruitment staff - knows who we're genuinely interested in.

Agree0 Disagree0

The start of my reply should read "Not for me" instead of "Not of he" - that's predictive text and auto spell correction for you!
