Hey you guys take a chill pill . we ain't skint we ain't got the riches of others we ain't going to sign anyone to line there pocket . What we do is find diamonds that fit. Southall ,carsley, graveson whittle , heath , mountfield ,Cahill, etc etc just not the most technically gifted of players but ones who fill a void. A void that needs filling. I trust that RM to find these gems to fill that void,an the board to back him. Ibam all for wanting someone or something to make mine an fellow blues jump on board an be excited but wanting an getting are totally different. I can't wait for the window to close an do agree it should shut once the season starts.as it doesn't I am still waiting and wondering who our next diamond will be. As a club we have never out rightly stared we are interested in x y z player what we do is say????? Has just signed

I don't really see him as a number ten but he would do it for me as a striker.

As I see it still doom an gloom from lots of blues which is understandable under the circumstances.lack of transfer activity build for the future etc. We would all like to sign worldys but this club in my years an like did go along way back been blue since 62 so

Wasn't that long ago we were linked with Joey Barton, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, the club is a joke atm.

Jesus lancerboy, I agree with you, is swearing now aloud on the site eds or is it only special cases were it is unanimously true? Like it is with Barton?.

Sick of this nonesense every season. Were always buying for the future, the only one that's ever made an impact from these buys is Stones n then they eventually go to the highest bidder. I've said it before on here and i'm not apologising for saying it again, this policy doesn't work, its been going on for donkeys years and it still hasn't bore fruit.
Its time to change, get a Manager in who buys to try n win somat that season, then if it doesn't work you go sell to buy again for the next season, simples. It means you have hope at the start of each season your going for somat, a winning mentality not a "lets see how it goes, hopefully gain experience n in the next 2 years we may have a good team", Bonkers!!

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - i know how you feel howie...but is it the manager or the board putting a restraint on buying?..

12 Aug 2015 19:43:42
Tend to agree Howie, although Galloway will make it. I just wish we would sign some youngsters that will get us out of our seats. We just seem to sign defenders.Dare I mention the Reds and Sterling and Ibe

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 19:51:33
You say this has been going on for years. Let's name some names in that case.
So you don't think Seamus Coleman has proved a successful buy?
What about the likes of Baines, Jagielka , Arteta and Cahill - all unproven in the top tier at the tine we brought them in.
None of the above was a massive fee.
Then when we did transfer out players, we got top dollar for them (and made a tidy profit) - such as Lescott and Fellaini. I'll concede that the profits might not have been re-invested wisely - if at all some would accuse.
OK - we haven't got near the glory days of the mid-1980s and earlier, but we are now competing in a football world where the Champions League clubs are a cosy (unofficial) cartel and football is awash with TV money that puts up transfer fees and player wages - not that agents aren't happy with that anyway (!).
Will we ever be successful again - who knows?
Will BK and RM be the people to make that happen - who knows?
Will all Evertonians ever be satisfied - never IMHO, as many (as exemplified by posters on this forum - and I include myself) need to have a whinge about all and sundry just to make their day ;-)

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its ok to have a moan in my book sid, and god only knows that if anyone is entitled to moan its us evertonians!, in fact anyone who is happy should seek medical advice asap mate..but im sure coby will disagree.. :)

12 Aug 2015 20:12:15
You misunderstood, there have been countless youngsters bought in and left in the reserves or u 21 as it is now, they have all moved on, failed to get in the team or off on loans or gone abroad never to be seen again. I wish I could name them, i'm sure Everton anoraks will tell you them. Their names just go by the wayside with George Green the last one, but there has been a few too from broad, even Australia and US, never heard of again. All those u mentioned were bought for the first team squad not the u21 squads n younger, to be our future or not as it turns out.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 20:33:35
you make a, well, you make a point that goes for near enough every club. I'd say most clubs have more misses than hits when signing youngsters for the youth setup. But like I said below, that is no reason to not sign them, Stones was not bought for the first team, under Moyes he didn't play once I don't think and was only brought in to the first team after Martinez took over. Players like Kennedy did not make it but we made profit on him, we didn't make profit on George Green but according to Tranmere fans he had attitude problems not to mention his horrendous injury record at such a young age. Regardless, it is still worth the risk, for every few Sam Kelly's there is a John Stones. I'm glad we are buying youth, yes we need first team players but if he goes on to become a good player, it was worth it, if he doesn't we make a small profit and if not, half a mil isn't much. It's worth it definitely.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 20:59:09
I did say Stones was one of a few it worked. We are in a predicament though because of the Club we are now though, because if they do make it, we profit from them, we don't actually benefit from them in the team, lets hope we keep Stones for one more Season at least, but you know aswell as me if its not this Season it will be next, unless we achieve Champs League footie, n with this squad, be honest, its not going to happen as we aren't strong enough, and neither are we at the momment trying to be stronger to challenge for it. So it goes back to my originl point, buy for trying to win somat each Season, not for in a few years time, which doesn't work nor has it worked anywhere.

Hi Ed,
You said your source told you we would have someone in by the weekend.
Did he give you any clues as to whether our new signing was flying in from Spain, Greece, France or London or maybe driving from Manchester.
don't say they are walking across Stanley Park

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - all he said was that we are making a signing before the weekend alan, he would not elaborate on it as much as i badgered him...i just hope its not mason..

12 Aug 2015 19:37:47
Sorry but our club is a joke now.It will be Mason who will be in the reserves for the next 12 months!!Time for the manager to go!

Who the hell does Barry think he is to tell us blues to be patient on the lack of transfers?

"It is a great group of lads who really trust each other and we know what we are about and everyone does their jobs.''

(Er, so that's why we finished out of the top ten, played the worst football I can remember since the awful teams of the late 1970s and leaked goals for fun with no flair, imagination or creativity to inspire the most loyal supporter.
No Gareth players are not doing their jobs or us supporters wouldn't be kicking off.)

"Other clubs have strengthened really well and spent a lot of money so we are up against quality teams but it is about getting momentum and that comes from winning games.

(Well try start winning some instead of the players week in and week out talking about winning only for the clown of a manager jumping to defend you and the rest of underachievers we have at the moment).

Total Cr%p!

I agree with this Post 10000%. Imagine Barry telling us to calm down. He gives me heart palpitations everytime he back passes to the keeper. I swear, we need to get rid of dead wood.

Even Gibson is starting to irritate me. what's the point of just sitting in the medical room? I know its harsh, but we should just get rid somehow. My nan could do his job for him.

12 Aug 2015 17:54:40
Honestly would anybody have Moyes back right at this moment can't believe I'm going to say this but I would at least we knew where we stood with him I just don't think Martinez lives in the real world.Moyes was always honest about needing investment so we can break into the top 4 Martinez said he could do it without having to spend vast amounts but in reality we all know you need to invest big to get the top 4 in the premier league he lives in his own little bubble. Don't get me wrong I want him to bring success back to Everton but the little faith I have in him left is slowly drifting away it seems he just caught everybody by surprise in his first season.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - i have no faith at all stef..

12 Aug 2015 20:31:42
. totally agree with you Stef.as I've said b4, the reality of the situation is that we are skint & have no money to spend & in those financial circumstances Moyes is the only man that can perform miracles by signing good players for little money! Yes, he didn't win anything in his 11 years, but he did get us consistently in the top 6/7 (& champions league on 1 occasion) by spending a lot less money than what Bobby already has on the likes of Lukaku in his short time of control. My guess would be Bill would be quite happy to have him back at a heartbeat too for the obvious reasons & by the end of October this could actually happen if results go the way we expect them too over the coming weeks. People forget that Moyes inherited a squad on the brink of relegation & spent very little to get a squad achieving top 4, 5th, 6th & 7th place every season without fail.on the other hand Martinez inherited the strongest & best Everton squad for many years & we have become a lot worse & appear to be no better than a mid-table team at present! Whether people agree with this or not that is a FACT! Moyes is also more likely to play players in their correct positions, have the team more better prepared for each game & far more motivated & more fired up than what they currently are.& I reckon he would make Lukaku (striker he never had in his time at Everton) a world beater with a more direct style of play playing to his strengths. so yes, if we are to be a club with no funds or investment - then Moyes for me is the only man for the job!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - a lot of good points there zacki, the only one i disagree with is having moyes back mate.. :)

12 Aug 2015 22:34:42
If there's a choice between Moyes and Martinez I go for Moyes. If he had the same funds that Martinez has had, I think he would have done better .
Martinez record to date is decline with much the same squad he inherited. Results speak for themselves.

I don't think you should ever go back, although he would be a step up from Martinez (who is really poor in my opinion). The Moyes direct style of play would suit Lukaku, but no doubt he would probably end up being forced onto the wing like Yakubu and Jelavic before him!

Was going to wait until september 1st to post on here, thought it would give chance of a fair assessment of the transfer window and our start to the season. However things are getting a bit worrying. Rather than our club chasing the top 5 or 6 clubs we now very much have to look at the likes of southampton swansea stoke west ham with concern. We have so far spent 4.2 million in this window less than all other prem clubs less than some championship clubs even, why don't we do business early and have a settled squad come august? At the end of last season, during a dull defeat against tottenham it wasclear we needed a new goalkeeper, at least one new centre back to replace distain and alcaraz. Looking at the wide positions pienaar is no longerfit enough or good enough mcgeady has never been good enough lennon has gone back on loan. i'm glad we got delefeu back, ile give the club that. We have very little to back lukaku up, granted kone had agood game when he came on against watford but I will never be convinced he is the answer to our problems. So 2 and a bit weeks to go we need a cb a winger a back up cf, preferably another keeper. If stones leaves we are going to be desperate for another cb and will be over charged by whoever we are buying from, van dijk from celtic will have gone southampton by then. Surely if stones goes we need 2 cbs in this window? No club would let 3 senior cbs leave and only bring 1 in surely. Absolutely disgusted with the lack of ambition shown by the club this window. I hope they suprise me before the window shuts.

Just a few observations. Last year we scored 48 and let in 50 goals. We won 12, drew 11 and lost 15. Only two teams had more draws and only two teams above us let in more goals. That was with three English Internationals, one Irish International and a US International in defense. Now we come to this season and in the first game we lost Baines in defense and included one new player who is essentially a defensive midfielder. Why would anyone expect anything else than a draw?
Unless something is changed i.e. some new, very good players, or a change in tactics by the manager, or both, the statistics say we will be no different than last year.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2015 16:18:10
We were drawing too many games under Moyes too. Ones that we should and could have won. We are signing players with precious few goals between them. so it naturally follows that we will lose some of these games. Uh oh.

Really? People are up in arms (not specifically this site) about potentially signing Holgate. Um, so? These are the same people who were fuming when we only signed Stones in January 2013. The same people who will crucify the club if he goes on to be a top player and moan about how we never got him. Do we need senior players? Of course but that doesn't mean we should pass up the opportunity to get more potential into the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Aug 2015 17:32:20
Quite right Swan. If we didn't sign stones we wouldn't be sitting on 30 million right now. And Galloway too? Give til end of the season and the press will sell him for us too.

As long as we get some first team improvement this month then there's nothing to say about this signing, negatively of course.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

12 Aug 2015 17:00:36
I always like to see which clubs are (supposedly) interested in a player and the sort of money they're (supposedly) offering - I find it a pretty good (not cast-iron certain, but usually reliable) indication of how good a player probably is.
So, a championship club offering around £6M for a British striker shows imho how good he probably is - which is a decent enough player, but perhaps we should be looking at better fowards.

See s/hampton are being quoted as odds on favourates to sign celtic c/back for 9m. What the hell is going on at our club, even if stones stays, we should be a chasing this deal down for all our worth, and the very fact that a player might consider going their, rather than joining everton, is a damming coment on just how far our board has allowed our club to fall.Kenwright & co, should hang their head in shame for what they have done to everton football club. PS. Not a rant, FACT.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Bit disrespectful towards Southampton JCW, well run club and have a bit of cash behind them. If he picks them ahead of us then there will be other factors involved like playing under a Dutch legend, closer to the continent etc.

Koeman has impressed me & making very shrewd signings after having 2 rebuild with losing several players in the last few windows.
Got on with it with minimum fuss & well ahead of us as we'll find out on sat.

I hope I am very wrong but I now have angrily accepted he will leave this window! i'm worried that we can only spend money if/when he goes. But I've been tokd everton and chelsea expect a deal to be done this month!! I will happily accept abuse if i'm wrong

It might be misplaced but I am very optimistic we will still sign at least 3 quality players before the end of the window.

I also have a feeling 1 or 2 might be someone we havnt been linked with.

I'd love us to sign Charlie Austin but I just can't see him moving from London to a club he has no personal affiliations with when he has the option to stay in London

What happend to Oulare that we where linked with, He may be worth another look and would surely cost no more that 7 mill

Just found out why we ain't signed anyone, our transfer budgets is less than any of us thought its.

Some magic beans
Half a packet of skittles
Some Martinez massage vouchers
Aidan Mc Geady swap
Unlimited hugs from Kenwright

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2015 12:59:58
The beans are for producing all the "hot air" the media say about us.
The skittles explain why our players drop like ninepins with hamstring injuries.
The massage vouchers are appropriate for RM, as he does "rub up" supporters the wrong way with his comments.
Don't know about a swap for McGeady - we need to make a clean "sweep" of the ageing squad, we need to stop other clubs trying to "swipe" our talent, and we need to "swoop" for some gems.
The hugs are clearly unlimited - what's worrying is that we might end up with a squad full of mugs.
Oh, if I didn't have this forum to post on about Everton - well, I just don't know how I'd fill my day LOL ;-)

Adama Traore going to villa by the looks of it . Looks like an exciting winger with pace and good vision. Another one bites the dust.Even Bristol City have more money than us . Looks like Dwight Gayle could be going to them? I just hope RM and the board surprise us with a good signing, however I have my doubts? I would be more than happy if we got Charlie Austin as he reminds me of Bob Latchford. Here's hoping!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Aug 2015 09:43:14
A good. Promising young player but we need better that can strengthen our squad not just bolster it, Austin is a player everyone wants on here but he is a good player not a great player, we are missing out everyday on so called targets what I want is the truth are we actually bidding on theses players? So if they don't sign is it because we cannot compete with clubs like West Ham or Stoke? RM has been on on lately giving his best spin doctor BS, I am starting to get tired of the deafening silence from the club and feel completely mugged off as a long time supporter of this great club!
We want answers now and the press are also starting to question the clubs lack of ambition!

JC showed Martinez what we already knew on Monday. the man utters the most pathetic dribble I have ever heard. I cringe when he talks it's embarassing, I just mute it now. Hope we are not too far away from getting someone knew in. I've give him a chance think I've seen enough.

Dont shoot the messenger!!PLEASE!! Hearing from the same person who told me in June(check the posts) that chelsea were bidding/about to bid 30M for stones. That he has told the club his wish is to play for chelsea! He won't hand in a transfer request, yet but he wants to leave asap!
Sorry all just what I've been told.

I can't see how he can leave then it's about time managers remind these young players they are under contract and in Stones's case he prob won't get regular first team football. We hold all the cards here and if we ask 100 million for him that's what chelski pay until then he's an Efc player and should play his arse off. Just saying.

Where did I leave my gun? Nah, I believe he told you thay but I don't believe it's true. The simple thing being he said he wants to stay after being aware of Chelsea's interest. He's a smart kid, I don't think him joining Chelsea makes any sense. Here is why. The Euro's are coming up and he needs game time, Chelsea cannot give him that. His value will only increase so cashing in now would be silly. Mournho will not allow him to play his natural game. As he grows more attractive offers than Chelsea (City or even Barcelona) will be available to him. His mates are here, not a big thing and is barely relevant but is one a small level. I assume Abramovic will not be happy with players (not sure if it is true, probably not but just guesswork by me) like Christensen and Ake being held back because Mourinho doesn't like developing players and is going to splash out and hope for the best. The last one is probably far fetched and is just a thought of mine, take it however you want. What will irritate me beyond belief is not only if we sell him (though that would actually end any positive feelings towards Martinez and the board (including everyone) from me). What will drive me even crazier is if we sell and loan him back, why? Because it's like one final kick in the nuts from both clubs, 'here's what you're missing out on folks, hahaha take that!'. Selling Stones now would be the biggest mistake this club has made since signing Aiden McGeady.

If they above is true it changes everything, effectively we have the Stirling situstion, thus, no more mister nice guy from the club please. We have taken a chance on this young man, givern him a "big" long contract, and a platform to build an international place, had he floped he would still have a five year contract on 30000 per week. So, now he goes to the first club to meet our valuation, if that does not happen, he stays and does what he is well paid to do, play football.

I agree 100% with that Swan. For me, although I wouldn't blame him or have any ill feeling towards Stones if he left (providing he doesn't kick off and force a move), if he doesn't want to play for us, I don't want him to play for us, no matter how much we may need him back on loan.

Just can't see him going to Chelsea myself. He is not soft and neither are his representatives. They will know that there are 2 big clubs here in the north west that have cash to burn and will no doubt be interested. Don't take this as me selling him because I, like all others don't want him to leave but believe he inevitably will. Just my opinion on the matter.

Keep hearing from so called people in the know, that Stones wants to go to Chelsea. If that true, then put in a transfer request and give up the percentage of the fee. N request no transfer simple as.

It's over 50 years that since I broke my father's heart and declared I was a blue. My wife tells all who will listen that a good weekend is wholly dependant on whether Everton win. My 50 years have witnessed great Everton teams and some woeful ones, but I have always firmly believed that being a blue is being a member of the best supporters around. I hope this is still the case, but I am getting worried!

Having read recent posts on this and other sites it feels like either many of my fellow blues have lost the plot or we have been infiltrated by wind up merchants who are sadly succeeding in mass negativity.

Stones has not been sold and I hope he stays, but if someone offers £40m he will go because it makes financial sense to sell and reinvest in the team. I do not believe that many of the so-called missed targets wherever on our radar. Big news, newspapers make up stories to create interest!!

We have the makings of a good team. We know what the club have said they are looking for. Even with funds to utilise we have limitations so spending wisely to maximise benefit is the only way forward. Make your judgement when the window closes. I doubt you will be disappointed.
