Funes mori and Keane best cb pairing for me - I like funes mori offers a threat in opposing box and a lot more solid than the merry go round of sh*t at the back at present - Williams and mangala need to get a taxi.

My heart is in my mouth every time Mori gets the ball. however anyone would be better than this season's Williams.

what's happened to Holgate I see some fans have started having a go at him but that's unfair he has had so many different partners this season he hasn't been able to settle I think he is a quality player.

Agree3 Disagree1

13 Feb 2018 08:11:52
holgate is a top player mate but he's still learning and i think we are handling him perfectly plays first team games then out the spotlight learning trade at u23s then back to first team, he is our future starting cb mate but why rush it?

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Feb 2018 11:31:19
Bluey on here people have had a go at literally every player in the squad at some point this season. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 20:49:42
I tbink sam. saying tosun doesn't start till wer safe means once we are "safe" we will see more of the others too like klassen and be a lot more attacking i think jes doing the caution approach once safe we will go all oit.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2018 21:03:14
So whatever Tosun does from now until we get 40 points doesn't matter as he won't be played.
That should get his confidence up.

Agree4 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:06:03
Many players find coming to the Premier League a bit more demanding and faster paced than what they are used to. It's early days yet with Cenk Tosun and we've not really seen anything of him yet so I'm relatively hopeful. Time will tell whether it will be a decent transfer or not. As for Davy Klaassen, well he hasn't had a look in all season apart from the European games, in which he wasn't really impressive. He seems to be overlooked all the time and I think we'll try and move him on in the summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:16:53
Yet reports are that everyone is marvelled at his finishing, but if there's a slight nip in the air he is deemed surplus to requirements. As for Klaassen, big sam basically said that no matter what he does, he won't be played. Honestly with our club, if you didn't laugh you would cry.

I hough Holgate was one of our better defenders at centre back, yet he not on bench last game. Vlasic gone off radar too. The club is in such a mess that promising players who would be given time at other clubs, have around 2 games to prove themselves then out the squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:20:11
I know what you're saying smit, but we don't no the circumstances, for all we know he has told sam he is shocked at the pace in the league and sam said well sit it out unless really needed until we're safe then we can ease you in.
Am not saying that's what's happened am just saying we don't know do we mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:26:29
Agree Johny but Sam shouldn't comment to the media then, or if he does he should tell the full story.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:55:44
I agree smit more transparancy would be nice but ya can't have everything mate haha, holgate played for 23s today dentie mate played ok think what there doing with him is a good thing give him games but if he's not starting let him play u23s.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 22:24:33
In know he played today johny1989, makes you wonder why Sandro wasnt pkaying a few gamesbefore he went on loan, or why Klaassen hasn't been used in U23's even if to get him up to speed with different style of football.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2018 06:45:58
Did Sam actually say that? I find that weird and if I was Tosun would be a little disturbed that I had signed for such a huge amount and not even tried. I know its early days, but that tells me he was not an Allergy signing. maybe Walshes? And that in turn tells me there may be infighting going on. Please tell me you got this wrong and it is an interpretation of what he said.

Agree0 Disagree1

13 Feb 2018 08:50:18
If Sam has worries over his fitness and adaptability to the premier league then it is difficult to afford him the starts and game time at this point of the season. However at 3-0 up on Saturday surely that was the time to bring him into the game and give him a run out, also the crowd were buoyant so a perfect time to get even 15 - 20 minutes in a winning team?

Agree2 Disagree1

13 Feb 2018 10:15:24
About he possible in fighting degsy, didn't Koeman supposedly blow his lid when sacked and blamed Walsh for most of what went on.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 20:39:21
I see a few posts mentioning the possibility of finishing in seventh place which is achievable but I personally think our achilles heel is our woeful goal difference. After our disappointing shall we say season I'd be more than happy with a top ten finish especially after being in the bottom half.

In regards to Sam Allardyce I think he will be in charge until at the very least the end of the season. He has done what was expected of him. Although the football style has been less than stellar (I myself am very critical) we have had decent results and much needed points. It's hard on the eye to watch but if it gets results then it will have to do for now.
If (as other people have said) he secures us a better than expected league finish then it probably will be a case of him seeing out his 18 month contract.

I think the main complaint with most fans is the boring play style and team selection. I don't think we know what our best eleven is at the moment and we certainly can play a lot more attractive attacking football.

12 Feb 2018 21:06:57
The next 2 away games will be pivotal to Sam's tenure. We need away performances and wins. If we switch back to 2 defensive mids or go 5 at the back again, I don't think the fans will stomach it.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:09:50
Our best 11 (Sam thought) for now started on Saturday, Martina was a revelation, haven't seen that performance all Season, there is a player in there. The rest apart from Mangala (a walking mistake) pick themselves on that form. So that just leaves a choice of Holgate, Williams or Jags to partner Keane. We shall see if Sam reverts to type in our next away game or gives it a right go for the rest of the season.

Mori played well today looked fit maybe he is in contention for the left cb spot also.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 21:59:39
forgot about Mori johny1989. I am somewhat of a maverick in players that I like and Mori comes into that category, Besic is/ was another. The problem is with these types of player; you will not get a full season out of them and particularly so in the Premiership. Catch22 situation, try to temper their style of play so they get less injuries and you remove some of the player and form.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2018 07:19:27
mori injury record isn't that bad this last injury was just an unfortunate accident he will be back strong on the left in the next couple weeks, he could be the answer to the lb problem.

I still don't think that Sam should be here next season (I'm happy for him to prove me wrong with a good run between now and the end of the season) . I think if he sticks with the same system and largely the same personnel where possible we should get 7th spot. The team need time to gel.

With the exception of Mangala (who for me deserves more of a chance to prove himself) I think that the whole team played well on Saturday.

As regards the Schneiderlin incident, my perspective was that the fans were booing the substitution, not the man. This was unacceptable either way. I think it will make or break Schneiderlin if he takes it to heart. He will either see this as a wake up call, and improve his performances, or he will be first out the door in the summer (wouldn't blame him either way) . The third option could be that he genuinely doesn't care of course.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - my view is that it was directly aimed at schneiderlin tommy, forums seem torn on whether it was justified or not but for me booing your own player is not on, people are pointing out that his lazy attitude warranted that response and that the paying public have the right to express their opinion on someone who disrespects the club with his poor attitude, i suppose they do have a bit of a point but its not my bag mate..

12 Feb 2018 12:53:58
I don't agree with booing your own players even if they have been anonymous in a lot of games. I blame Sam as he's the one who continually picks players who are struggling/ out of form/ not good enough.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

12 Feb 2018 13:05:13
I think it's wrong irrespective of the player's attitude. It also makes our fans and club look bad. If you were a player watching that would you want to come and play for us?

Agree2 Disagree1

12 Feb 2018 13:41:51
To start. I have said my piece on Schneids. booing our own players is not the Everton way. We should give him the biggest cheer ever next time he plays. However, I think Rooney in the deep role is made for Rooney. He has lost his pace, so wondering around spraying passes all over the place is maade for him. Assuming Rooney plays, he needs a defensive midfielder to cover. step in Gueye. He also needs some young legs to press forwards and help Niasse or DCL or Tosun. whilst at the same time able to chase back and cover when needed. enter Tom Davies. Those central 3 are made for each other. We can have a back 4 and 3 forwards. Walcott is one. Sig the other. So whilst I don't see Sig as a left sided player. he can do a job there. Schneids is on the bench as are a few others. that's how I would be setting the team up.

Agree3 Disagree3

12 Feb 2018 14:15:57
Exactly Degsy. If the midfield is running well and creating chances it takes the pressure off our makeshift defence.

Agree1 Disagree1

12 Feb 2018 14:45:10
That formation could give Klassen a chance in the Davies role if/ when he needs a rest. Be nice to see if Sam brings him in once we are safe.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 15:09:41
Agree Degsy, I've been crying out for that midfield all season. Saturday was one of the first times they've actually looked like a proper midfield. Gueye does a better defensive job on his own, Rooney can stroll around deep spraying passes and Davies' high energy levels and carrying the ball forward make for a great combo.

Few reports over the weekend suggesting Keene might be off in the summer. I read little into transfer gossip, especially at this time of the year but it does raise the point - why has he been so poor this season? I thought we’d signed a consistent performer for years to come. Some had him pegged as a future England captain! So, who would we get rid of in the summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2018 11:44:54
He will come good, I though he played pretty well against CP. We need another big centre-back (a good one) to play alongside him.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 12:06:17
Koeman knocked his confidence, he got an injury, he's had Williams and Martina next to him half of the time and Schneiderlin in front of him. He's also not had a consistent partner in the centre of defence all season. When you look back to our better defences of the past decade it was Jags/ Lescott and Jags/ Distin, who were both given time to gel. I'm sure Keane will come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

People say things on Twitter they would have previously said only to their mates or aired on forums like this or kept as personal thoughts these days Johny. They seem to get off on seeing their names associated with someone famous. I don't rate Mangala personally and feel he was only brought in because Sam hoped he'd plug the gap at left back. Hasn't worked out too well so far, but while he is here and wearing the shirt he's one of ours so I wish him a speedy recovery.

Credit to what Sam has done for us since he came on, I'll hold my hand to say he was the right man until the end of the season because the mess we were in, I didn't think anyone could keep us up. However, I don't think many of us will want to see him on the touch line to start next season as it just means we're stagnating even more. My summer would be to get rid of Allardyce and Walsh and start again with Brands from PSV as director and a manager such as Fonesca or Howe. Since Roberto, we haven't seen a team with an identity something that we as a fan can hold onto. It gave us something to go for against the top 6 instead of being reactive against them and sit 11 men behind the ball as Allardyce and Koeman have done. I think it's really important some one comes in with unique style that can be used by the academy teams and also when looking at new players. And the biggest thing for something for us fans to hold onto and hope the manager can show the spirit shown by Unsy whilst he was in charge.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

12 Feb 2018 12:42:56
Good post Joe,

I have to disagree with you on SA not being here next season. This summer he will be moving on to the second stage of his appointment and that is to give Everton a stable base to rebuild on. If we just get in a new manager then that person is going to inherit all that is bad at the club, the bad things need to be sorted out and got rid of. Like him or loath him SA is the man capable of doing this.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 13:06:41
For me I just want to get to the summer. We need a real revolution at the club with a new man in charge with a longer term objective and one that fits the phylosophy of the club.

We need also to bring Walsh to task and bring someone in with real pedigree in the DOF role.

Sam has shown what he can do as he does at every club but we need someone who has new ideas, a real winners mentality that can ignite not just the players but the fans passion again.

I don't think you can give a stable base unless you're staying. A new man brings new ideas and there is always some kind of upheaval. Time to rip off the bandaid.

Big couple of games coming up though. So many teams below us winning means it's still very close and we're so jackle and Hyde anything could happen.

Let's get these 8 points quickly!

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 14:00:44
I am with Grumpy on this. We have had too many changes in the last couple of years and now it is showing. Few of our "stars" are at their peak. Most are too young or too old. We still rely on 3 of Moyes' players from over 10 years ago. The rest are either losing their legs, are not quite ready or are just really bad signings. Our best signing since Lukaku is Walcott. Tosun may yet be a good signing too? He is still settling in. but from what I have seen he is a decent player. We have had many players coming and going. But few will be with us in 10 years like the Moyes ones. And I only say that because of my points above. they are either too old or not good enough. Yes we have some great kids who may make it. but they are not quite ready yet in the main. I think some people have a preconcieved idea about Allergy. But he was responsible at Bolton for the signing of amazing players like: Jay Jay Okotcha, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Fernando Hierro, Kevin Davies, Gary Speed, Stewart Downing, Nicolas Anelka, Youri Djorkaeff, Tal Ben-Haim and Stelios. As well as the reds spitter. People say he played hoof it football, but look at the quality of those players and what they achieved in their careers. We tried to sign enough of them at Everton and lost out to Bolton! So I say forget pre-concieved ideas and give the bloke a bit of a chance. Face reality. we have a very poor squad. but it is at least a couple of players better than it was a month ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 14:44:37
sam will never change, he will always put an oddball side out against top teams and keep players injury free to play against teams he feels he can beat, not what I want to see, but I won't be surprised if we finish 7th, there are some poor sides out ther.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2018 15:03:15
I'm still torn on Allardyce. One thing for sure though, is Walsh has to go. We still don't have a 1st choice no9 and it looks like it will be that way until the summer.
Looking at how poor the rest of the teams outside the top 6 are we should be aiming for 7th, anything less would be a little disappointing because of the position we are now in.
Regards changing manager, I would be looking at who is available, Allardyce is 63 and no spring chicken, so if a top manager becomes available and wants to join, I don't see how we can turn that down.

Allardyces next challenge is to turn our away form around and, beat the reds. If he did that and finished 7th, I don't see how we could get rid.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Feb 2018 23:56:13
I think it is madness that after such a horrendous season like we have had, we are only 2 points from 7th place in the league.
I thought koeman and walsh got recruitment wrong in the summer. Lots of no.10's and no striker, so rk was sacked and Sam in. Again I'm very much on fence with Sam. Some good moments. palace, Huddersfield, Newcastle, but some poor moments. arsenal,

Fat fingers.

Some poor moments. arsenal, no shots on goals for 5 games, etc.

Every game I will support the team and hope we go as high up the league as we can. Then we can reassess and decide if Sam is staying or not.

I am also on the fence about him Geoffjohno. I know I have stuck up for him at times, but that's because you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. And Martinez and Koeman created a sow's ear squad. I just don't see how any manager could improve this squad dramatically. It is defficient in many areas. It is over-subscribed in other areas. and some players that we signed are clearly not the players we thought they were. So I say give the bloke the support he needs to secure our place then let the chairman decide. I see in the rags we are to sell Keane? I also think if Rooney had not forced a return, we would now be in big pooh as they say. Yet we have spent near on £200,000,000 over the last couple of seasons.

I think it is more helpful and accurate to look at the net spend.

All well and good looking at the net spend Glennk, but does'nt excuse buying players that are not good enough. Beggars belief how many of them are struggling. Keane, Klassen, Cenk, Snides, that's over 100 million alone on those four. It does'nt make sense to me, also two managers got rid off, more millions gone down the swanney.

leinster, i think keane will thrive once he has a steady partner, klassen will come good or worst case we will recover most if not all of his fee as he is a top player maybe just not suited to prem, to say Cenk is struggling is pathetic he's been here 5 mins, and yea sniderlain is struggling for form but wouldn't say any of them players are money wasted at all.

I take your point johny but we need players performing now, after all
the only new addition that's hit the ground running is Walcott.
