So many names have been mentioned now. I'd like to see Eddie Howe in charge. With the financial backing, he could build something special. Players and media seem to have a lot of respect for him. He'd bring back the style of play the fans want to see.

This ones for degsy!
In 999 premier league matches, we have won 362 games, scoring 1302 times. Tim Howard has made the most appearances at 354 and the most wins, at 156, goes to Leon Osman!

Nice stat bluepotato. I know I went on and on and on and on about Leon Osman, but I never understood how fellow Blues could knock one of our own who joined the club as a kid, never made a fuss about anything in a career that lasted 16 years at one club (other than loan outs) . He finally got an England cap at 31 years old and scored 43 goals in 352 appearances for us. I know he slowed up at the end and we should have had a replacement for him. but that is the club's fault not his. I remember many vociferous posts on here making him out to be some sort of rubbish player who had done nothing for EFC. How we could do with an attacking midfielder like him now!

{Ed025's Note - i always liked him degsy ..

13 May 2018 09:23:14
Never mind his attacking capability Degsy. We could do with some of his heart and passion in this squad.
Maybe if he had come from spain he may have got more plaudits from some on here.

{Ed025's Note - your right smit..

I used to get annoyed with the repetitive Osman posts. However I thought Osman was terribly underrated. His first touch was magic. I've never understood why the terraces have to have one player as a scapegoat, and it's usually one of our own, yet a lot of the flair players like Mirallas and Bolasie get away with loads of awful games. First it was Hibbo, then Osman, then Barkley, now Davies.

Naturally Gentlemen, I agree with all your comments. And just to prove his worth (shown before I know) look at the technique in these goals. Outside of both feet. Instep of both feet. Laces through it. Heading too. If he was available today he would be a £40 mill player!

What about Julian Nagelsmann? Young attacking manager with experience coaching at a high level. Not seen him mentioned but I would have him over Silva.

I think bigger clubs will be after him, or stay at Hoffenheim for the CL. Great manager though!

Tiffa. He is one of a number of young managers making a name for themselves ( especially in germany) that we could look at to build a dynasty.
I'd prefer a young guy with fresh ideas and the chance to build a dynasty. (a la moyes only with more success)

So Lookman scored yet again for Leipzig today and notched up 2 assists. In 664 minutes of football since he's been in the Bundesliga he's scored 5 goals (1 every 133 minutes) and registered 4 assists (1 every 166 minutes) . Very good stats for one so young. Compare this to our current wingers; Walcott in 1124 mins for Everton has notched up 3 goals (1 every 375 mins) and 3 assists (same again) . Bolasie in 847 mins has scored 1 goal and registered 0 assists. Mirallas in 136 mins has 0 goals and 0 assists and finally Vlasic in 574 mins has 0 goals and 0 assists. Granted these are only league stats, even still, it proves as very worrying reading and highlights how weak we are on the wings, positions that badly need strengthening over the summer along with many others. After such a successful loan period for Lookman, it makes you wonder what Bolasie and co. could have possibly been doing in training to be chosen ahead of him.

To be fair the German top league is the equivalent to our championship.
So it's not the same.
Aubameyang score 40 goals a season in Germany, the Las can't score in England.

12 May 2018 22:51:06
and at the moment we are not any better than that.

Aubameyang has 9 goals in 12 if what I have read is correct, I’d love a striker with that return.

{Ed0333's Note - Lookman?

13 May 2018 05:57:04
In truth, I think that we may well have seen the last of Lookman. Hope not though.

13 May 2018 08:45:21
Read the Osman posts above. and think of how Lookman would suit us now. I think he is probably ready. but like Glennk says. we may have seen the last of him. I sincerely hope not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i hope not too degsy, i believe he could be a cracker mate but he needs to be given playing time mate..

13 May 2018 11:11:48
I agree with the above. Some players, especially youngsters, you just need to persist with to let them find some form and consistency. Look at Davies, in and out of the team all the time, confidence shot, looks like a shadow of the lad he was even last season.

According to press it appears SA is on his way
My concern is looking at all the views on this and similar sites that who ever we get after Sam the fans will be split from day one so he has to get off to a flyer otherwise we will go around in circles again next season.

I think after 6 months of Allardyce the fans will be a bit more forgiving knowing what the alternative is.

2 goals and 2 assists for Lookman. He's doing well over Germany.

So we decide to let our best player and our best commercial asset leave, brilliant he got 10 goals playing in the worst team I have seen how about getting players that will be good around him with legs, watched iniesta the other night and he was best player with and without the ball, he ran the show and did not run once.

Iniesta's game was never based on physicality. Rooney's was.

Transfers this summer.

CB. Let's go big - Koulibaly, if not Ben Mee or Mawson

LB. get Bryan from Bristol but also get any one of Bertrand, Chilwell or Tierney.

CM. Doucoure, Nzonzi, Romeu

WINGER. None. Bring back Lookman. Possibly Richalison.

FORWARD. Aboubakar, Falcao.

5 quality signings could really turn this team around. Let's hope the board have the ambition.

Decent wish list Smit666. I'd swap Falcao for Margera from Porto and maybe Garry Rodriguez instead of Richarlison.

I'd settle for that Smit definitely get Lookman back and get rid of Bolaise.

Good choices Smit

I'd probably add Lascelles to the mix (he;s a leader and we need more of them) and one from left field would be Aguerro. He wants to go back to his home club in 2 years but maybe he'd want to stay in the NW until then.

12 May 2018 12:05:08
I love your optimism Smit666.and the comment that 5 quality signings would turn the team around! Of course it would. there would be half the outfield team changed! Why not go the whole hog and name 10 new outfield players. now that would turn the team around! Maybe keep Pickford though eh? What do you think? scuse the sarcasm mate. I would love 2 or 3 of those signings in reality. but in reality I guess we maight get 1 off that list. but hopefully some others.

I'm happy with pickford, siggurdson, Gana, Walcott, Tosun, Coleman, Davies, holgate, lookman, and to some extent, Vlasic.
The above would be my dream not reality and I have tried to stay as prem league as I can.
We would need them all though if we could ship out all the ones that are too old or average but I don't see that happening. It will take a few windows to get them all out.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2018 12:26:21
Doubt Koulibaly or Falcao will come to us. Richarlison is overrated and overpriced. I'd certainly bring Lookman back and that may be enough in that position. We don't need 2 left backs at the moment but I'd take any of those you mentioned and I imagine they would all be obtainable for an inflated fee. Doucoure or N'Zonzi would also be good signings in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2018 12:59:29
Good choices Smit except N'Zonzi. Everytime I see him he seems slow, even for La Liga which is played at a slower pace.

Also I think we need more than 1 player in some positions. Including the clearouts that we need to happen I think we need 2 left backs (1 established and 1 potential, at least 3 new centre backs (only keep Jags for continuity and Keane/ Holgate on a warning) , legs in midfield as well as a dominant presence (would break the bank to get Loftus-Cheek) , pace in wide area to supplement Walcott and 2 strikers different to Tosun.

A couple of players who Brandts might bring are Lozano from PSV and an Iranian lad called Jahanbakhsh from AZ Alkmaar, wide right or striker who has scored a lot of goals.

Max Meyer is going to be available (out of contract and fell out with his club) and some decent quality and I think next season, with the right managerial structure, and we should do well.

Not bad idea but wouldn't touch romeu. far too many yellow cards for Southampton this season and definitely a red waiting to happen.

well the story doing the rounds is Rooney had said it's Sam or me if true I'm very happy as Rooney being one of us can see how bad that man is for our club and if it takes Rooney threatening to leave for the point to get across I'm glad he has done it.
