And you would have got away with it too if it hadn't been for those meddling kids. Ah nostalgia.

At least under DM there was precious little danger of the kids getting a look-in.

I am going to an evening with Roberto Martinez tomorrow night at the titanic hotel so hopefully get a chance to speak to him. I got a few questions I want to ask him anyone else want me to mention anything I might give him the link to the site and tell him to register.

{Ed025's Note - have a great time robbie..and tell him ED025 said hello..

Hope that hotels not an omen mate 😱

Had a great night last night. Roberto spoke v good of Ross. Didn't give much away what we didn't know saying Kone will help us in final third of season. Everton should be making important signings like £28m to improve side. He said he thinks 3 at the back can be a success in premiership basically said we can get away with playing 2 cb because they are reliable and suppose Barry drops back to be a 3 cb as cover. Didn't get chance to speak to him but grabbed him on way out for a selfie lol. Goodnight but thought the average fan couldn't get a chance to speak to him but a couple of tables who where sponsors where the only ones who could and surprise surprise the two tables won the raffle at the end. I enjoyed it but it just shows that money speaks shame really.

Here is one for you all. Going back to the days when we were all wound up about Moyes leaving and how some people would never forgive him etc. I was thinking about RM V DM as managers and how things had or had not progressed under RM. In Moyes last couple of seasons, we were knocking on the door of Champions League qualification and playing pretty football (not as pretty as RM's I know) but drawing too many games that we should have won. In the end, it was all the draws that cost us. Last season and this has shown a very similar trend. We just don't seem to be able to kill teams off. Any comments?

Nah

Yes we blew our entire transfer budget on one player maybe that doesn't help.

Swan said who can we buy with 28 mill. Hmmm let me see Southamton bought that lad Pelle for little or nothing Swansea bought Bony for 12 mill I'm sure if our scouts did there job we could of got two quality strikers for that money Lukaku is decent but is not performing and anybody can see that at the moment it is looking like we made a big mistake with him 28 mill was far to much for him I just hope proves me wrong. No wait I'm praying he proves me wrong after all I love the club and want us to do well but if we had paid 28 mill for anybody else and they were playing bad you all would be giving out he just looks a shadow of himself either that or defenders have him read like a book either way he needs to start performing and fast.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nobody moaned about the price when we bought him. As I recall people were pleading with Bill to buy him. It's not the lads fault we paid so much money, so for fees sake get off his back and leave it to the manager to solve. Pathetic.

People have a right to there opinion.

I said who could we get for 15-18m (the amount we would get if we sold him), bony wouldn't cost 18m, pelle is doing well, yes, bet he flops next season, you on the sane boat of people begging for benteke, jelavic to come back and soon harry kane? If so, don't bother, he's here, deal with it

Agree0 Disagree0

The saying. a twelve man. goes a long way in football.players hear moans and groans from fans.get behind him and support him. Lukaku will find his former and goalscoring boots.back him don't stag him.could be worse. we couldbought ballerina for 15millo

One of the reasons that we paid so much for Lukaku was his age. Bony is nearly 26, where was he when he was 21? Scoring goals in the Premier League? Nope! Lukaku will come good, he just needs a bit of time. It can't be easy shouldering the expectation of leading the line and that price tag at his age, a price that he didn't set. He will have a far more remarkable career than Bony in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes you have a right to a opinion. But just think before you print. He's a young kid having a dip in form. Support him and he will come back. Naismith anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Woburn I agree with u lukaku is a kid still and we blew one seasons transfer budget on him because he is an investment for the nxt ten years so I think it was really good buisness but to call stef pathetic is really harsh

Agree0 Disagree0

There been no 12 th man in the last few home games so everytime lukakus does let one go the guys hearing every response clear as day, maybe we should look at ourselves aswell because even at one nil up against palace there was nothing, 28m prob was too much but 21 already scoring regular in the prem it all made sense as a striker these days are hard to come by

Does anyone else know if we still kept our old scouting network when moyes left, or did roberto bring his own too? The only reason I ask is because other than the proven premiership players (Lukaku and McCarthy) the other players he has brought in are very injury prone and therefore not really that reliable, two names on the tip of my tongue are alcaraz and kone, neither who have held either a regular starting place in the team, one I'm unsure if he has played more than 60 minutes fof efc! That in itself should be worrying if our transfer budget, while already small, is I suppose wasted on injury prone players. I just feel if you are signing a back up player to the 1st team for the purpose of being a squad player they should have an exemplory injury record and be versitle to playing in a number of positions adequately. To pay 6 mill for kone and ship out big vic was I feel a mistake.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shipping out Anichebe wasn't a mistake imho - it was surely a good move for for both parties.
The only issue with Kone is that he's been injured for so long and therefore hasn't had any chance to prove himself (or not as the case may be!) in the Everton first team. So many of RM's signings have been criticised at first and then the players have proved themselves in the Everton first team - McCarthy and Barry being two prime examples. As far as I'm concerned, only Joel Robles has not impressed to date - although the jury is still out for me on McGeady. The likes of Atsu are hopefully yet to blossom.

In the brief games that he has featured in, Kone looks to be a terrible buy. It's been that long so I could be mistaken, but I remember two sitters that he should have buried when he was fit. That could have been down to lack of confidence, possibly to do with getting familiar with his new team mates etc. Every striker needs the boost a goal does for their morale. But, as others have pointed out, my main concern is that he has never been fit to sustain a place in the team. 6m is a lot to pay for an ageing crock

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - join our boat crew spud.. :)

None of theses players needed scouting there either players he had on loan or worked with, kone signing has just been unlucky but alcaraz has always had his problems butr was a free

Agree0 Disagree0

Every football club has signed players that have got a serious injury early in their careers with their new club. Whether they paid £6million or 2 burst footballs and a water bottle for the player, it's not the club or players fault. Kone done well at his 2 previous clubs so there's no reason he wouldn't have done well at us . only for his injuries.

Anyone else imagine that RM is developing our young players for a 3-4-3 formation? It'd be Browning, Stones and Galloway as the back three. Coleman would play right of the midfield four. Baines has already been suggested by RM as capable of moving into a midfield role as he gets older. The other older (aged-over-30) players would gradually leave the club and we'd then fit our remaining players - the likes of McCarthy, Barkley, Besic, Lukaku, Mirallas, Oviedo, Naismith, Ledson, Henen, our other most promising U-21 and U-18 prospects, and incoming transfers, etc., etc. - into the formation as required.

Feel it's a bit too attacking based to play 343 in most leagues, particularly in the prem. Our defense would be open to counter attacks and without a penatrative midfield such an attacking formation would be flawed due to crowding the final 3rd. I would prefer a 4-1-3-1-1 one defensive mid to protect the defense from counter attacks and two attacking full backs to provide width.

I don't know if this has been asked already but what happens to the champions league place for the winners of the euro cup if the winners have already qualified for champions league by their league placing?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

England currently gets 4 places in the UCL - they're for the teams finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the PL.
If the UCL winners or UEL winners are English and finish outside these top 4, then we get an extra (5th) place for those winning teams. If both the UCL winner and UEL winners are English, then the 4th PL club drops down to the UEL - we cannot have more than 5 English clubs in the UCL.
If the UCL winner or UEL winner already qualify for the UCL (by finishing in the top 4 in the PL), then we do NOT get an extra space - in other words, the teams finishing outside the PL top 4 do not get an extra UCL place just because some other English clubs win the UCL or UEL.
So, it's possible (but unlikely!) that England could have 5 teams in the UCL - and it's also possible that finishing 4th in the PL doesn't get a UCL place.
Whatever happens, England gets 4 (possibly 5 as explained above) places in the UCL and 3 places in the UEL.
Simples - not!
