Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

This is not a rumour, nor is this fact but I do know about football transfers and general football business/finances. So I want to give my value of Baines and explain the reasons why so to put an end to the continuos cash plus player deals people keep making up.
Baines is 29 and will be 30 before next season. He has under 30 international caps and only has 18 months left on his contract. The last factor makes the biggest impact to his value if (as it seems) he is unwilling to sign a new deal. This makes January the last opportunity for us to cash in if we desired. Nobody would sign him at 30 with a year left on his contract in the summer, they would wait till the following jan and sign him for free on a pre contract.
They would also have the buy out clause of a contract where his age would allow a club to simply pay in his behalf the remainder of his contract to force through a move.
So given that in January a club might really need him but we might also be aware that we have to sell now if we want to get any reasonable funds for him and his price would be 8-10 million. In the summer about 4. The following January about 2 million.
My belief is that he will see out his contract and we will lose him at 31 for nothing, it makes the most business sense and he is not the type of guy to throw his toys out of the pram.
1 and a half seasons of him would do me.

There is no way Baines will run down his contract an there is no way everton would allow him to .january will be the deciding month if he is still here at the end of the month, I think he ill end up at everton for good

If what you say was right Sven then I too would rather keep him for his remaining 18 months, if we made him see it out then he would probably sign another anyway because not many CL clubs would want a 31 year old by then. We will all know soon enough mate either way, I think we all now have total faith in Bobby anyway and also Oviedo looks class

I don't know if anyone else saw the article in the D. Mail a few days ago but it has made me think. It suggested at the moment that Everton are playing so well because we have RM style of attack with DM's defence. The question is will Everton suffer in a couple of years as our defenders leave, which some probably will through transfers or age, and RM defenders are brought in?

Based on RM's signings to date, IMO, there have been excellent signings and and not so good signings. I don't think that in time Everton's defence will become like Wigan's defence but what do others think?

I think that if Roberto proves himself he too will be head hunted sooner rather than later.

Arsenal have learnt at their peril that u can score as many goals as u want but without a defence u win sweet fa. cup.

There are a few managers that are forward thinking. roberto being one of them. He just gets football and is intelligent and enthused to learn.
People are hammering moyes because of utds performances, but he knew what he wanted and knows what to do. Utd will be patient in his 1st season unless they are clearly out of running fora CL spot.

Sorry to digress in the middle but Roberto hit nail on head the other day. U now have 11 defenders in a team and 11 attackers. In otherwords all in it together, understand one another and work hard everywhere!

Just can't see any of our defenders leaving. Jags will finish his career with us as captain, Distin still has at least a year in him with Stones to come in. I can't see Coleman leaving since he would now cost a fortune and if we lose Baines, Oviedo looks a quality replacement. Out of the protective screen in front of them, McCarthy will be with us for years and Barry looks like he will sign on a free. I think we will keep this defensive unit for years yet.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow. I hope the Martinez revolution keeps on rolling along nicely, and complacency doesn't start to creep in.The united and Arsenal games, and with our records over the years away to both teams being abysmal, we were seen as the underdogs in both games ie by the media, only to produce two performances especially at arsenal of the highest quality. With Fulhams dire league record at goodison I hope we don't take our feet off the gas allowing them to break that hold we have over them at home, seeing as everyone will be looking at them as underdogs. Hopefully Bobbys blue revolution can continue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too. I think it could be a liitle more trickey than at first sight as Fulham need only fill the back line and try the break with Berbatov. Hoe our defence is up for this one. However, over the 90 mins we will secure a win. 2 or 3 Nil.

It seems to me (stating the obvious) that two things attract the top players to a club: (1) playing in a side that wins, or at least genuinely competes for, trophies; and/or (2) high wages and bonuses. I accept that some players also want to play for certain clubs because of who they supported as a boy or because the atmosphere within particular clubs is good. However, IMHO, at the end of the day, the top players want to win and expect to be highly paid.
If RM can get us into the Champions League group stages, then hopefully we'll generate the finances (and attract more top players) that get us into a virtuous circle of success breeding success.
Final thought: even if we do have success during the next few years, I'm certain that such things go in cycles and we'll have fallow periods in later years. Some clubs' fans just don't get that and can't cope with not being top dogs every year.

27 divided by 3 equals 9. Manchester United are 9th? That's my take on it, anyway.

Nsismith may not be the best player to pull on a blue shirt, but, the work he does with the less fortunate mark him out as a very decent human being, something you cannot say about that many, more talented player in the prem.

Im with you, his work rate is phenominal and something no one seems to point out is his positioning, he gets in great positions for goals (vs aek, liverpool and chelsea), he wants the team to do well and doesn't stop and will give everything for the team to do so Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

He might not be first choice, but IMHO he's a useful member of the squad and if we qualify for Europe we'll need a strong, deep squad next season to cope with the number of fixtures. I just hope some of our youngsters can progress to also beef up the first team squad.

I doubt he would be on too much Degsy, in relative terms, that we can't afford as he's still a boy, albeit a very large one. Maybe £40-50k at chelski, I'm sure we could accommodate his wages were he to become available, the transfer fee would probably prove to be the major stumbling block.

Don't know what others feel but I've got a sneaky feeling that Leighton will stay at Goodison next month. He's only got to look and see how Fellaini has been castigated by the Mancs since September. He's now suffering from a loss of form in a team that is sliding downwards. Surely this is the last thing Baines would want to face especially with the World Cuo in the summer.
OK so they'll offer him more money and they'll cite Champions League matches - but for how much longer?
I reckon we'll finish above them in the League this season and I'd love to see the country's best LB contributing through until May for us.
