Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Get off moyes back he has done wonders for our club and don't forget it yes future does not look great but that is not notes fault, if it was not for him we would of been relegated by now. All I hear is let's attack them every week yea if we did we would get beat easily against most sides mid table at the moment is ok for a team that has spent nothing for 3 years take a look at all the other teams below us and look at there spend over past few years villa, Sunderland , even teams that have gone down in last few seasons have spent more shows how good moyes is but without cash you will always fall behind

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Completely agree, mate. people are judging moyes and blaming him, but neither Guardiola could do more than Moyes. It's a difficult situation and fire moyes it's not the solution.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think people say attack each week, its about the negativity that he places through formations and player choices. it says to many teams 'come on and get at us' which is why we always fall behind, and theres often no way his tactics will provide more than two goals. he is his own worst enemy really. but i still enjoy backing everton and am proud to say im an evertonian

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I hear let's attack them before every game we have had so far yes we have only got 2 goals in us at best and we have not scored that in a game for a while that's why we have to keep it tight, we can't go all out attacking teams when our top scorer is a left back that's the reason we are but negative this season

Agree0 Disagree0

The point is though there is a reason a left back is our top scorer, no support up the pitch, its evident. cahill is around the centre circle most of the time and saha is giveing as much as he gets, nothing. he is getting balls that are 50/50 all the time, cahill has shown he doesnt offer what he used too. it was proven today when we played more creatively (Gibson helps) we looked a far better side, and even better when drenthe went off with a more 4-4-2. so if youre a fan of reverting back to what we were doing last week and all previous other weeks and get beat, we may as well all go home

Not sure on Gibson, haven't really seen him play but as we blues are we will get behind every player no matter what! At least theres some positivety showing within the club in starting our transfers a lot earlier than usual. Coyb!

Believable5 Unbelievable3

No matter what? Almost every comment on here over the last month has been people slating our players!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't slate Gibson or any other player, I simply stated us fans will remain loyal to our players 100%.

Was not talking bout you... Bt you did say us fans will remain loyal yet almost everyone on here is slating one player or the other!

I think Gibbson is a good value signing, he has to be a better option than Nev or Heigtinga in midfield. Dose anyone know if its possible to get Yobo back for the rest of the season. BFtB.

Shout to the fans.... if we want OUR team to start to improve, and hit there best pottential... then lets atleast get on there side. i travel home and away with everton, and i can say our support when we are there has to be one of the worst in the league (with wigan) we dont sing, we dont even cheer our own players, if i was billy, saha or any other everton player then i couldnt think of a worst team to play for ( with the fans ) dont get me wrong we have a huge fan base, but come on lads, i mean if you want us to improve on the pitch, then you have to atleast get behind us. So i wish gibson all the luck, and hope his spirit is high and we can help with that Everton are in my heart and always will be.... but the booing, and telling players they are sh** every week... tell me how that helps?? Lets get behind them, we have to take some sort of credit for our team, there are 30,000 of us at goodison most weeks... but the way it is, you would think there were 2,000. COYB...

so we signed gibson, not a bad thing, an attack minded midfield might really help us but im annoyed they are so many doubters, we have on countless times bought "nobodys" for very little money, give them a chance and let them shine, coleman, cahill, jags.. pienaar and arteta were bought for little because at the time they were abit.. erm.. rubbish?
in a way i never want to be bought by a billionare because its just not the everton way, its our way and i kinda like it, alright were not buying ya dzeco's and kakas but we give youth a chance and have real characters like osman, these wouldnt be in the team if we had buckets of cash

gibson will do great for us, 2-0 tomorrow, gibson last goal

Believable4 Unbelievable1

I'm sure that Gibson will be a top signing for us. Some players just need a run in the first team to get the best out of them, ie piennar/arteta. Let's give the lad a chance before we start banging on about only buying top four players. Get real people! Till Billy bull***t goes, hopefully to the right buyer, were not even top ten, so let's get behind moyes and the team. Blue Lee

Just read this on official website and shows our debt and repayments is crippling us.

Well if the debt is that bad how can kenwright want so much for the club, if he loves everton like he says why doesn't he let it go for less so someone else can takeover.
That's we're he is going wrong if we're in debt then we make no money so, how can he value us at that price

will support gibson, pleased or not, he's now a blue, but, when you sell a BMW ( ARTETA ) and replace it with a skoda, the powers that be cannot expect us to be over the moon. {Ed025's Note - i loved arteta...but when your BMW has engine problems..and the paintwork is fading..trade it in for a newer model...the spec may not be as high..but fewer miles, and lots of tread on the tyres, can still get you where you want to go!

So we've signed Darron Gibson and already I can hear the groans of 'yet another MUFC reject'. Personally I think this signing is more telling for the impact it will have on the future of Jack Rodwell. The conspiracy theorists (and there are plenty on this site) will say that we've paid nothing and given Fergie first dibs on Jack when we sell him, not if, but when. Now I might be controversial in saying this but I think Gibson is better for us than Rodwell.
I've sat and watched Jack for the last 3 seasons without ever figuring out what it is he does. What type of midfielder is he going to be? A box to box Roy Keane/Steven Gerrard type? He doesn't have the dynamism or the passing or the drive (yet) to be in the mould. Is he a goal scorer, Lampard/Cahill type? I don't think so as his goal record is nothing outstanding.

Yes he has a good shot on him, yes he is athletic, strong but does he have a trick, or the ability to beat a player? Does he have a 40-yard diagonal pass in him? Does he drop deep and help us play out from the back, discouraging Jags to launch it 90 yards into the paddock? I would say the answers are all no. My opinion, but an opinion formed as a season ticket holder.

Gibson is a quarter back. A bit like Tom Huddlestone who I really wished we'd signed a few years back. Gibson when he played for United was always the deepest lying midfielder who would pick it up and play out from the back. He is always available for the defence to receive the ball and is very confident in possession which I wouldn't say about Jack. No he's not dynamic either or a destructive defensive midfielder but he is an excellent passer and since Arteta left, no one has taken on the mantle of play maker in chief, or the one who always wants the ball.

If we get £15-20m for Jack I think we will have done awfully well. I was so proud watching him play for England and if I'm proven wrong about him then I'll be pleased for the boy. But of all our 'assets', he's the one I'd most like to cash in on. And his England caps have made that more potentially lucrative for us. No, Gibson is not a marquee signing, and don't mistake this post for sheer excitement at his arrival, but I do think he brings something different, which in the context of us having more central midfielders in our squad than anyone, that is a positive of sorts! {Ed025's Note - very good post that mate...myself, i see him as a future england centre back...he is not blessed with the greatest pace..but he is athletic, and reads the game well..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Rodwell is a center half play him against big dunc in training for a couple of weeks to toughen him up n heil b ready

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with most of the Gibson points as well as not really knowing what Rodwells best position is - although I think that is more the fault of the manager than the player given the various positions he's been asked to play as well as the questionable tactics.

However, would disagree that Gibson is a better player - think if Rodwell was in the Man U set up he would be a shed load better given the higher quality in playing staff as well as far better coaching/tactics. If anything being at Everton is holding him back (see perfomance for England as an example).

Still, a welcome signing who hopefully will only play in the middle meaning we never have to endure Neville and Heitinga there together again.

Also a far better signing than Mcfadden! Does it solve our problems, no. Does it help, yes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I can agree with you about Gibson mate as I have not seen him play – except the odd highlight on TV – but obviously like you I hope for the best! I would be interested in knowing how many of the people commenting on here have actually seen him play?

What I would say about Rodwell however is that I feel he is a young lad who really has potential but sadly it seems that will only be realised elsewhere. What with injuries at crucial stages of his playing life; finding himself regularly in such a variety of midfield "roles" when he needs to be learning the art of one/two particular roles; having to do this in one of the worst functioning teams in Everton's recent history and no wonder the lad has lost a lot of youthful confidence. After all, if as midfield player you looked up and saw Saha, Anichebe, Stracqualursi etc up front which way would YOU OR I be tempted to pass the ball! HAHA

Put him amongst a better squad of players, with a functioning system of play in which he is allowed to learn and develop THE particular skills he has in ONE particular role and I do think he will realise that potential that at present still lies dormant in the moribund surroundings in which he finds himself at present. {Ed025's Note - good post mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

When Rodwell was playing for England a commentator - can't remember who, but an ex-player I think - said 'Rodwell is supposed to be very good, but its difficult to tell what at'.

This struck a chord with me. We watch from near the half-way line in the Paddock and see a lot of Jack, and we've seen him many times. The same thing nearly always happens when the ball is at his feet. Forward movement stops. Three steps to the left, stop, turn, two to the right and lay off to Hibbert on the half-way line. And except when we are really down to the bare bones, when he doesn't play we don't really miss him.

Maybe he will blossom somewhere else. Moyes, as we know, is ultra cautious and who knows what Round does? And, of course, all players play better with better players. But if he has creative flair we should surely have seen it by now.

I know very little about Darron Gibson, wish him the best, and hope that something of the Irish international energy and spirit comes with him. I can only pray that he isn't injury prone because he's coming to one of the worst places on earth to cure that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never seen Rodwell play center half for everton in last two years play him ther n c wat happens .probably won't n sell him to mancs n b England's next center half for ten years

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people always slating Rodwell for his performances in a position that is not his usual? From the very beginning Moyes said he was a CB bt coz we were ok in that position he has been used in Midfield... Sure he has not set the world alight there bt he is getting game time and in my view it is only to help him for when he moves back to centre half... So wots with all the negativity??

This is a good bit of buisness. We have 4 genuine CENTRE mids (Fellaini, Rodwell, Osman and Barkley) Osman being 31 and Barkley inexperienced really it leaves Fellaini and Rodwell. Getting Gibson in who is 24 and a genuine centre mid unlike Heitinga and Neville who usually cover when there is injuries is good buisness. Never saw so many negative comments about a new player from "so called" evertonians !

Believable4 Unbelievable0

This is good business at 1 million ..He is only 24 lots of talent ready to be unleashed ...Has to be better than the crap we are serving up at the moment .
Markyg

Agree0 Disagree0

For those old enough to remember, we once signed a midfielder (alebeit a completely left sided player) who was languishing in the RS reserves and couldn't get a game either. His name? Kevin Sheedy. I say we give Gibson a chance, look how Sheeds turned out. And as a previous poster has already said, you don't get to stay at Man U for so long if you're crap. In the current market this could turn out to be one of the best 1 £m spent.

Wowwww sometimes i am embarrassed to be an everton fan especially reading these comments. Gibson is a blue now so we support him and get behind him. He's 24, hungry to play, plays with energy and has proved he likes to score. Exactly what we need at the minute in midfield, yes, he's not a world beater but for 1-2 million it's a good bit of business by everton. Get over it and stop acting like Kopites

Anyone notice in the press conference after the Spurs game, Moyes kept saying "we just needed someone to stroke the ball cleanly" - he said it a few times in all his interviews. No, this was surely coded message to say, 'I've got someone up my sleeve who can stroke the ball cleanly - you lot will think he's shote - but bear in mind, he can strike the ball cleanly'!!
I'll be listening out for more coded messages from DM (hopefully he starts talking about blade runner & that means we're getting Defoe)

Gonna defend moysie here, i think its a good move buying Gibson we need midfielders first who can supply that s**te upfront and gibson can do that, hes definately a better player than fellaini( defensive) and heitinga(defensive) playing in the middle...yes we need strikers but they dont get service either, i think with gibson we have someone that can spread the ball easily, bit more confidence and this lad will turn out to be a good signing, im confident...GOOD LUCK GIBBO...YOUR A TOFFEE NOW....CW

The jurys out but lets give him a chance, he has been a squad player at utd for a long time so technically he must be ok, and just cos he couldn't break into 1st team doesn't make him a bad player for us. hopefully he can bring some attacking play to our midfield and also he has an eye for goal and can play a pass over more than 10 yards, he's left sided and possess a rocket shot, and lets face it we are shopping in the bargain dept of the market so who do we expect to get COYB - whats your view ed? -wella {Ed025's Note - lets give him a chance wella...he could turn out to be a good signing, just because he was not in utd,s first team, does not automatically make him a bad player..

hi ed just a thought as we are in debt and this is holding us back from a take over would it be in the clubs interest to sell rodwell or 20 million and reduce the debt {Ed001's Note - hard to say without knowing exactly the long term financial future of the club. Personally I would say it is better to keep hold of him, a number of defenders are getting on now, he would be able to drop back without costing the club a penny.}

1.5 Gibson 20 mil Henderson imwt {Ed001's Note - you might want to wait and see what he is like before getting excited. The lad couldn't get in United's worst midfield of my lifetime, to the point that they begged Scholes to come out of retirement rather than play him. A United fan said to me yesterday that Gibson was the worst player he had ever seen play for United. Though I did remind him of Taibi and Prunier and he revised it to 3rd worst.}

He will stand by a player he thinks has potential, even when they are playing poorly, as Fletcher has shown. But Fergie saw nothing in Gibson.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He was out with rooney ed {Ed001's Note - he was out of favour and not in the first team plan's before then, it was nothing to do with that. He has made 2 appearances this season, that's all.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Please note that ed001 is a rednose {Ed001's Note - and your point is? I am just pointing out that people need to calm down a bit, he might turn out to be the perfect fit, but talk of heroes etc is far too much pressure for a lad that is coming in and likely to be low on confidence. Remember this is the lad who had to take down his Twitter account because of the abuse he suffered from United fans.}

Here's my view on the whole Gibson signing:
So no he's not the fantastic midfielder we all wanted, a Dempsey type etc but if the rumours are true that we have paid only 500k up front rising to £2.5 million with apprence/ bonuses etc then what a great signing!
I can't think of a player as good as Gibson that we could have got for that price. If we only have £4/5 million to spend in total than I'm glad we've only spent half a million on a midfielder and hopefully we'll spend the rest on a striker, Rhodes etc!
Gibson is only 24, he has his best years ahead of him and he's got to be better playing centre mid than Neville or Heitinga!
I'd put him straight in the team for tomorrow and who knows he might even pop up with a debut goal!
Let's just get behind him and welcome him to his new family!
Once Everton has touched you, nothing else will be the same!
Now just bring in Defoe! Ha!

The question is, has Moyes really done his homework on this fella, have his scouts done him proud, lets hope so!! Only time will tell. We just need 2x strikers, 2x more midfielders and 3x at the back and then we'll be complete...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A million for a player who Sunderland agreed a price for four n half million in the summer doesn't look like bad business

I would put gibson straight into the team tomorrw!
howard
Neville duffy heitenga baines
Donovan fellani gibson gueye
Vellious drenthe

Give drenthe a free roll to run all over the place!
With our defence weakened we can no longer play defensive and hope to nick a goal! We will concede! So we have to attack and have to out score villa! I realise im stating the obvious but moyes doent seem to see it! Although he has been playing 442 last couple of games just with the wrong players!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I also wouldnt mind seeing Drenthe played in the hole behind the striker, can find a pass, can shoot the ball, and most of all he doesnt have the defensive duty of tracking back like a winger does.

Although, against Villa with Hutton at RB, have to play Drenthe at LM, Hutton is proper garbage, and Drenthe would absolutely destroy him.

But of course, with David Moyes, starts ont he bench, comes on when we are 2-0 down with 5mins to go.

At least we don't need to stay up on the 31st January now! Now that we have spent all of our money, there won't be any more signings!!

I'm pleased we have made an actual signing but does this great club expect it's fans to be happy with a £2m Man Utd verge player?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

As has been said before, Pienaar, Yobo and Arteta were 'verge players'. The boy is championship class, but give him time and who knows. Cahill, Lescott, Kilbane did not come with anything bordering on premier league reputations.
Lets give our DM benefit of our doubts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pienaar & Arteta were proven at a young age , Yobo was good at the world cup highly rated as was lescott but agree they all had something to prove! Cahill was once in a lifetime buy !

Agree0 Disagree0

Lescot, jags were also unproven get off the lads back, if your a blue, give gibson a chance and get behind the team

Wow we have actually bought a player! Not on loan or a free transfer! We have BOUGHT him! Even though the news that we have bought someone is far more exciting than the player himself but he cant make the team play any worse than they have been, so i will give gibson my full support as he is now a blue and i will look forward to seeing him partner fellani in midfield rather than neville or hiets! Welcome to goodison gibson!

Wasnt that excited when first hearing about Gibson. Not sure why but it is exciting me now its confirmed. First signing in a while lets hope it lifts the atmosphere for us. We now have an attacking midfielder on the books - lets hope Moyes has just bought another Cahill or Arteta. IMWT

I have heard it is an initial fee of £1.5m with a further £1m based on appearances. Not concrete, but that is what I am led to believe.

Just curious, Whats the deal with this Abdulliev kid Ed and his work permit and loan and all the other crap thats happend with him over the last couple of seasons! {Ed025's Note - he is still only 19, and not part of the plan at the moment, he is getting valuable experience in greece, but he is one for the future. his work permit will be sorted, when and if we need it..

Gents, its starting to do my head in with comments on Gibson, hes a dud hes shyte and he hasnt kicked all ball for us yet.

Arteta was a dud for Rangers and Real Soc' and Pienaar was terrible in Germany.

This guy looks always forward not to the side and isnt scared to have a shot at goal. I am no way a fan of Moyes but 500k rising to 2.5 million not much risk there.

Fellaini and Gibson in the centre or Bily and Neville what do you prefer...COYB

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Exactly mate, give the lad some support, some game time and watch his confidence grow. The lad was very highly thought of as a youngster, there has to be a reason why.

Think a change for Gibson could do him a well of good, and for a price of 500K, think it is another shred signing by Moyes

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Gibson could be a decent signing. He is a ball-player and what we need, as much as anything, is someone who can keep possession. Gibson and Fellain in the middle is better than what we have got now.

Agree0 Disagree0

At least gibson looks like a footballer - he's the right shape and size and probably has decent feet - one of our problems I think is that a ot of our players are weird shapes n sizes - either tiny tots or slim Jims that get knocked off the ball too easily - or clumsy green giants that can't get about the place quickly - we need players that will have learnt how to play pass n move and close the man down - and I'm sure Gibson will know how to do that

if he's been at United it must say something - sh*t players won't even get through the door there

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't have put it better myself! People are writing this lad off before he has kicked a ball for us. We need to get behind him and hopefully he will flourish. He's came through the United youth system, at 24 young enough yet hopefully mature enough. Has a squad place in the Euros for Ireland to secure. And has scored goals in Champions League Quarter and Semi finals. All for a reasonably small transfer fee, i would rather have him then as you say Nev and Bily in the middle. Lets remember three days ago Moyes said we had no money! He always keeps his cards close to his chest. I wouldnt be surprised if we see a couple more useful additions come the end of January.

Gibson for 1m? Brilliant. Not going to find a better player for that. Let's hope he fits in well, we did need to strengthen our squad.

Once were back to full compliment how is drenthe-fellaini-osman-Rodwell-Donovan with Saha up top. More of a 4-3-3 with Donovan and drenthe on the flanks should be able to provide for Saha too even though he cant score to save his life at the moment

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Ed, do you know what we paid for Gibson? Been hearing it is 500K upfront, but also heard it is as high as 2mil. any clarification?

If it was 500K think it was a very good deal. {Ed025's Note - i have been told its 500k...rising to a maximum of 2m depending on success and appearance bonuses..

Hey Ed, just wondering if you heard anything about Jeremy Perbet? Do you know if Everton are interested in him at all? {Ed025's Note - the club have had him watched, really good strike rate for mons, and with a 1m buy out clause, he is of interest. but quite a few clubs want him..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I dont see why we shouldnt go after him. Has scored like 16 goals already for Mons in the Belgian league and is the top scorer (even ahead of Vossen), for 1mil, I dont see how Moyes wouldnt go for it when we are desperate.

Wiki page sais the transfer figure for Gibson is 4,500,000! ;)

Shrewd business Everton, could prove to be a good signing, give him a chance and get behind him. As others have said, will provide more than Neville or Heitinga in the middle.

In other news, Rodwell please leave for any figure over 15m. We have a better DM, his name is Fellaini, he just misses alot of games through red cards.

Or is Moyes going to listen to himself and play the boy at CB where he said he would move him to? We are short there, nows your chance....

Rodwell has no creativity, he just breaks up play, and passes it sideways.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

13 Jan 2012 02:03:15
Couldn't agree more on the sideways passing mate, so true. Maybe we would look more dangerous if we passed forward took a few more shots on goal and go a bit more direct?

Well what a sad state of affairs - Arsenal replace Cesc Fàbregas with Arteta and we replace Arteta with Gibson ! At what depths will we see this board let us sink too ?

Sorry Ed but I am heart broken seeing what was a majestic club being torn apart by greedy owners who talk the talk but fail to walk the walk.

Although Gibson is not a fans choice we have no option but to support the lad when he pulls on the famous shirt we love.

Broken Blue

Believable2 Unbelievable4

COME BACK ON WHEN HE PROVES YOU WRONG MATE GIVE THE LAD A CHANCE.we dont by a player for 2 an a half years then when we do its all doom and gloom get agrip hes a decent player that will score goals and drive forward as for arteta he was not doing it he had gone stale 10 mill for a 29 year old good bizzness his leg have gone give me a hungry gibbson at 24 anyday just watch him go moyes has played a blinder at 500k....................g {Ed025's Note - we should all give him the benefit of the doubt, i really hope he does us proud..

Agree0 Disagree0

We havnt replaced arteta with gibson, he is a totally different type of player, we didnt replace arteta at all and lets be honest in his last 2-3 years he hardly played and when hi did he didnt perform very well {Ed025's Note - for me..we are missing an arteta like player, as much as a forward..

Agree0 Disagree0

Also arteta wanted to go and at 10mill it was great business for us at his age, it keeps the banks at bay for a while aswell

Have just been "talking" to my nephew on Facebook,he lives in Coatbridge in Scotland and he has told me that all the talk up there is that Jelavic is Everton bound,he says it's a done deal. Apparently Jelavic has a release clause in his contract which Rangers reluctantly agreed to when He signed, which says He can leave for ....wait for it......2.5 mill ! ! ? I am just relaying what I have been told by a Rangers Supporter.
