Here's a thought. What if we did away with buying players, and instead all clubs could only sign players on one year contracts. This would do away with clubs spending fortunes for players, and players getting tied to pointless four and a half year contracts that neither the club or player stick too.
There would only be one transfer window in the summer, and this would hopefully make it a more level playing field for all teams.
I know it might have its drawbacks but thought it might make a nice change from all this transfer banter.
Ed02 this is your opportunity to tell me what an idiot I am, and why it would never work. 👍

{Ed002's Note - Why are you bothering with this?}

Felt like starting a debate on something other than transfers. Thought it might calm people down a little.

Feeling calm already WB but the money men wouldn't let this happen. I like the idea though. Here's another thought Labour gets in at the next election and instigates the no person in a company can earn more than 200% more than the lowest paid we could then see the tea ladies at some clubs earning more than the PM now that would be funny.

The money would just go on paying players more money and covering the additional agents costs (since that are essentially negotiating more often) . I get the idea behind it but ffp is the way to go for me. The problem is there is a million ways around it.

I like your thinking Woburnblue. Imho the players have too much power and in today's market much o

Much of what happens is concentrated on them. What happened to concentrating on the good of the club. I know it still is but not near to the same degree imho.

In Germany players are not paid as much and the cost of going to games is more affordable. Imho the German way is the way to go and would be good for the game.

The way China is going is silly. Absolutely crazy money involved. Shouldn't be aloud imho.

Bring back club power!

Remember NBTB what the prem league was like in its infancy, lots of homegrown players with some big names from Europe and the rest of the world who were signed in the latter years of their careers for big money.
Slowly but surely more were signed and younger and younger they got. The birth of the greatest league in the world, and China could well end up the same.

My thoughts exactly Smit666. Germany seem more club focused to me. Their national team don't suffer. They are among the best at most tournaments.

The only way the Chinese league would outgrow the prem is if sky pulled its money out and put into China instead. Nothing will match the premier league until something as drastic as that happens. Or dare I mention a European super league.

Well you've convinced me guys, let's do what Germany do. The other plus they have is standing areas in there grounds. Must admit I do miss that, and standing behind your seat just isn't the same.

China or any other league will never match ours. I've mentioned this before but the reason the EPL gets all the money is because it's like a soap opera with tons of history.

There is hatred, jealousy, inspiration, heartache and much more that other leagues just can't replicate. It's why we are so addicted and the rest of the world tune into every match to get a piece of the action.

Nothing to do with the best managers or players. It's because we have the football version of Coronation Street!

Why is it unprofessional to tell the fans exactly what we know some players I think he means the ones on loans Kone and other players unused at the moment if it had come from the mouth of the media's darlings mourinho klopp or conte it would not get an eyelid battered but because koeman says it is unprofessional I call it honesty a lot more than we've heard for a long time from anybody at the club well done ronnie do it your way and no doubt you will be flavour of the month when the tide turns a lot of worried people about me thinks coyb

I think Koeman and his, in my eyes totally realistic comments about our players are an absolute breath of fresh air. For too long now we've had managers who were just yes men like the ' phenmominal' Martinez. He's only saying what us fans have been saying for years. Long may it continue!

Koemans in it for the long run with his own way of playing football and it's nothing like what we have played before and some of our players don't like it

Hi Ed koeman has said he wants 1 or 2 more in would that include the deal for belfodil or as well as? Think we need a CB and creative midd

It seems the Belfodil deal may be off. Something came to light which Everton didn't like. Whether they are looking into it and it is on hold, or stopped, I don't know. This is from Belgian and Algerian ITKs.

Too many agents spoil the sale. Lot of sticky little fingers there.

When do hull play the reds? Love niasse to score hat trick. hahaha

I know we are all hoping for a few more signings but we may have to be a little bit more realistic. If belfodil signs our spending will be close to 45 million. Personally I can see another one coming in before we focus on youth. If we manage that and manage to get rid of some dead wood, I'll be happy with that. I think some people won't be happy until we have spent 100m for the sake of it. Just my opinion anyway.

I am happy with the business we have done so far and would be happy to wait for the summer for any more additions if RK and SW think its appropriate. For me any more additions this window would be jus icing on the cake

I would still like to see acreative midfielder come in with a bit of experience. Anda bit of pace. I am sure Tom Davies will become a fine player fromwhat I have seen, but it would be nice for him to have someone with a bit of experience to nurture him. Barkley needs that too I feel. Although in his last league game he looked dominant. I just feel we are slow at breaking out and by the time we get to the other end, the opposition has reorganised their defence 2 or 3 times.

I agree Degsy although a player who can play as a 9 or 10 would be ideal just in case Lukaku gets injured.
Other than that an experienced winger would be good too and then look at a CB and keeper in the summer.
2 more in hopefully

Would love depay/ cafu
Gylfi and van dijk would be the best window we could get
Would settle for Keane if not Virgil

Keane or Gibson are far more realistic than Virgil, much though i would like him.

i personaly think the club is in the best shape k have ever seen it in an the future is really bright an blue and also the in is going in the ryr direction and the manger is perfect for us and he knows what he wonts an possibly a new stadium but obv we need to invest in the squad a lot an i no it can't all be done in once transfer window. we sold stones for 45 mil + we got 28 bolasie an 11 for williams 7 for idrissa i might be a tad off with the valuations we got told 100 mil transfer chest last transfer window We also got morgan for 24 +11 for lookman when i work it out we have only really spent 30+ for players i think something is happening behind closed doors a good thing a big player is due your atleast 2 decent proven players but that's just thought it could be a long shot i mite just be geting excited who knows COYB :) :)
