I'd pay whatever it takes to sign pineaar. He is one of the finest players to put a blue shirt on, gives 101% and is dynamic enough to defend and attack. Absolute must sign.
Ste EFC {Ed025's Note - he is ste..i just hope that deputy dawg faced, cockney wide boy, does not hold us to ransom!..

Petrov from bolton? ed?
toffee haz {Ed025's Note - at 33, not for me mate..
He's really that old well no then i thourght he was 29 -30 se we could get him for 2 years till we find something
Absolutely not! He turned us down to join Bolton, he can enjoy the Championship next season!
Mickey Blue Eyes
Holden or the Korean lad from Bolton would fit nicely in our team, both creative and talented footballers who suffered serious injuries this season, and I think were the reason why Bolton went down.
Hopefully could get them for a bargain considering Boltons fate.

That formation looks good. Stick in Landon Donovan at right mid and Dempsey to partner Jelavic and you have a team capable of challenging for top 4.
Haz, can't agree with that in modern football Gibbo would get easily over run, he needs someone to work in tandem with in order to cover the wingers and full backs when they move forward to supply for Fellaini and Jelavic. Rodwell could work as his cautious keep ball approach would be suited there or we could look at N'Zonzi of Blackburn or Diame who I think is leaving Wigan on a free?
I think Moyes is going to stick with that 4-2-3-1 formation. The big question in that formation is where is Fellaini going to play? I have been a firm believer that he should be in the defensive 2 alongside Gibson, but the way he has played in that AM role, it is starting to change my mind, especially if we can get a Diame on a free or maybe Rodwell alongside Gibson.

I genuinely think the way the season has unfolded, if we had enough money for Pienaar we could challenge European places, we have shown we can compete with the top 6. COYB!!
13 May 2012 22:12:21
Everton were a match for anyone today and the way Jelly took his goal was superb to watch.
Ste EFC {Ed25's Note - the guy is quality..
13 May 2012 21:34:57
I don't think we need to spend money on someone who can play up top with jelavic! We have Fellani who has been doing brilliantly up top! I think moyes should keep Fellani in that position next season and find a new partner for Gibson in the middle! Maybe try Barkley there during pre-season! we dont really need to spend much just secure pienaar on a permanent deal and keep what we have and we will be pushing for Europe next season! {Ed024's Note - Fellaini does look accomplished in a forward role
Fellaini is a great forward option to have, but i still think we need to sign someone like dempsey, fellaini is needed elsewhere in the team.
Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - a good player alongside jelly would be great, my preference would be moses bez..
I agree, i would love to sign moses, good scoreline today eh ed?

Just thought i'd share this. David Simpson @davidsimpson88... a reporter for juiceFM just said this- Iv'e just intervied Tim Howard, everton goalkeeper here's what he had to say;
They [players] have handcuffed him [Pienaar] to the showers. He's not going back down to London." #EFC
: "We tease him [Pienaar] all the time. He has to stay [at #EFC]. This is his home. He knows it, we know it."
"I think we feel good about ourselves. 7th is good. We need to finish higher [next season]." #EFC
"If we keep our foot on the gas all season - Carling Cup. FA Cup and the league, I think we can do some really good things." #EFC
"We need to assess a lot of things. We need him [Moyes] in place, let him pick and chose the players who he wants to bring in." #EFC
Here's the interesting story for Evertonians to be hopeful for;
"I'm gonna be on the horn to Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan and i'm gonna try my best. Anyone who's listening..." #EFC
"We need a couple of really key players [next season]. You're looking at a winger, maybe a No.10 who plays off the front. Landon and Clint can both do that" #EFC
Go on Timmy Howard! Sort it out lad, would love Dempsey and Donovan here in the summer!! {Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

Arsenal fan. Happy you finished above Liverpool. Better club, better fans, played better football this season. Only worry for ya's is that if you don't get investment again they will just over take you again.
You need investment and with your manager and fans and players already there you will leave LFC in the dark!
Not necessarily mate, if we sign pienaar and don't loose anyone, aswell as all our youth players coming through (barkley, gueye, ect) it shouldbe enough to do liverpool next year atleast

Pictures on the grand old team website of Baines staying behind at goodison playing with his 2 kids. Some people seem to be reading this as him saying goodbye. Hope not cause i really dont know who we will replace him with.
Cropper
It will be because they don't let them any other time of the season isn't it, they don't let anyone else on the pitch after the match usually but they re-do the pitch after the end of the season so it doesn't matterif it gets wrecked now...baines is going nowhere

I agree Ed
Yeah cabaye pushed over a ball boy so tim raised his arm and got sent off {Ed025's Note - we are one big family at everton, and if someone hit your little brother...what would you do?..exactly what tim did..

Now that bolton are down what about stuart holden. An absolute super player before he got injured. Only 26, and can play all across midfield.
Theres a few i would take... holden, M davies and eagles easy
Or mark davies or cheung yong lee
Every time I've seen Eagles play, he's been crap BlueTone {Ed024's Note - Very average player

We just have to sign Pienaar back, it's as simple as that. Outstanding performance today, MOM without any doubt whatsoever.

Well, Tony Hibbert has finally scored, albeit at the wrong end.
Is that his first OG as well, could of swore he had a couple in years gone by?
13 May 2012 16:29:57
If we do buy a new striker to partner Jelavic for next season these would be my two first choices:
1) Burak Yilmaz (26)-Trabzonspor-48 goals all competitions.
Yilmaz is a big, strong striker and is a goal machine. I know he plays in the Turkish league which isn't much of a league (no offence), but the same was said about Jelavic from Rangers, and look how he turned out.
2) Bas Dost (22)-SC Heerenveen-48 goals all competitons.
Another big, strong striker with a great eye for goal. We have been linked with him already, and I think he would be a great signing. Only problem is that other teams are looking at him too.
Both players are valued at around £8 million according to this website = www.transfermarkt.co.uk {Ed025's Note - well that rules us out then!..

So come on then fellow blue's. Me and a couple of mates just talking over our season before we head off to Goodison. Here's our summary; (few arguments though)
Goal of the season(unless there's a better one today) = Baines free kick vs Swansea/ Osman vs Sunderland close 2nd
Defender of the season = John Heitinga
Midfielder of the season = Marouane Fellaini
Striker of the season = (bit obvious) Nikica Jelavic
Best Performance of the season = Vs Sunderland (quarter final replay)
Worst Performance = Vs Bolton @home 2-1 defeat/ Liverpool away 3-0 defeat
Moment of the season = Darren Gibson goal vs Man City
Buy of the season = All players in January transfer window.
Miss of the season = Tim Cahill vs QPR 1st game!
Player of the season = John Heitinga
Young player of the season = Apostolos Vellios
Biggest disappointment of the season = Royston Drenthe/Seamus Coleman/Losing the semi final.
Highlights of the season = Winning home games vs Chelsea and Man City(gave us confidence we were lacking) FA Cup run and Pienaar equaliser vs Man United at Old Trafford. Watching Jelavic bangs goals in like he in a training game.
Overall = Same feeling we have had for the last 3 seasons, awful start, completely different team from christmas onwards got the feeling of what might have been if we started well (again).
Moyes proved in January what a couple of signings can do for a team, if we have a summer like we did last year we will be back to square one. The board have to back him.
I don't think people realise but we actually have 2 of the richest men in the country on our board!! Invest ffs, not into the shares or clearing the debt, invest in the team and Moyes YOU will get a return because with a bit of money Moyes will guide us into top 4 a really believe that.
So, once again can't look forward OR dread the next season untill we know what happens in then summer. Sign Piennar is a MUST and right winger alomg with a partner for Jelavic upfront
Thanks COYB!
Paul
Howard for goal of the season for me mate ;)
Everton Al.
Couldn't agree more with this post mate, fantastic post. I really hope we get the investment needed to finish in the top four next season, because when speaking to one of my friends (and i know we say this every season) if we would have got off to a good start, and beaten the likes of QPR, Bolton, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Norwich and Wolves we'd be 3rd (taking into account that these are the teams we really should be beating...)
Also with respects to signings, I think there are 5 main targets that are possibilities for the blues:
Clint Dempsey (5-6 million)
Steven Pienaar (5-6 million)
Junior Hoilett (Free transfer)
Landon Donavon (8-10 million)
Niko Kranjcar (2-4 million)
and i'm not saying that we will make all these signings (obviously not with the lack of investment in the club) but just as long as we sign peanuts i'll be happy :)
Great post this, i'm sure alot of Evertonians feel the same about what might have been if we had started better.
Getting beat 1st day of season at Goodison by QPR was a big shock as we could/should have won that game comfortably. Lets hope we make a 1 or 2 good signings with Pienaar being the 1st this Summer & we can get a better start next season.
Great post Paul, post of the season award for me fella
Degsy {Ed025's Note - it was excellent..
13 May 2012 09:06:40
moyes sould put all his money into his wages exepct a small amount and sign frees: hoilett, whitbread, diame and aim to get someone to partner jelavic (if anichebe is not chosen) or another winger AFTER WE SIGN PIENARR
13 May 2012 08:45:26
If we got taken over and you could buy 6 players, what would your team look like. I don't want ridiculous teams with the Messis Iniestas and the Xavis. Here's mine:
Howard
Richards Heitinga Douglas Baines
Muniain Fellaini J.Martinez Mata
Jelavic Neymar
Ins-Richards, Douglas, Muniain, J.Martinez, Mata, Neymar
ToffeeDave
Howard, Van der wiel, Heitinga, jags, Baines, Hazard, Felli, Modric, Pienaar, Jelavic and Falcao
You have just said you don't want a ridiculous team and then put neymar and j.martinez in there ?
Yeah but they're not the elite players if you could have the 11 best players in the world in your team, them 2 wouldn't be in it, that's my point, I don't want any one saying Casillas Dani Alves Pique Ramos Messi Xavi Iniesta Rooney Cristiano Ronaldo etc...Also like that team mate, Falcao and Hazard :)
ToffeeDave
Micah Richards. Luka Modric. Landon Donovan. Junior Hoilett. Darren Bent
13 May 2012 00:29:07
It is a well known fact we are skint at the moment and for me, I don't want to lose any of our current squad. I think we should use what ever money we do have to tie up Pienaar deal! If we could get Rodellega on a free as either back up or a partner for Jelavic depending on the formation and games etc. Bit of a long shot as everyone will be after him, but again on a free Hoilett would be an awesome signing (he will get regular first team football at Everton, has to be a positive, seen him linked with the likes of Man Utd, they have loads of wingers).
As I said, I don't like the thought of anyone leaving but if it was to happen, I would love Dempsey to join us too! Unless someone leaves I don't see us having the finances to make this happen considering the other teams after him.
Pienaar, Hoilett and Rodellega and keeping all our squad would be a good summer! Cant wait for next season!
An optimistic Blue Nose {Ed024's Note - Good post mate
Ed what do you reckon of our chances of getting Rodallega are, that is of course if Moyes is interested {Ed024's Note - decent player who we could get on a free, he will be on moyes radar but not a priority, i think we could do better
Hi ED,
Didn't i post this a few weeks ago, worded different but the exact same players, But it's good to see that most evertions want the same plays at the club, and it would def push us to top 4-6 as they will be more competition for places, so it should give us a better start to the season, and whats this i see about people post about ozzie going, he's been in our top 4 performers each season for the last 3-4 years, and i am glad that he gets unnoticed by other teams as hes been a great servant and role modal for years and would die for us BLUES,
P.S do you have anything soild on the Transfer front ED
y0rksh1re_blue {Ed025's Note - nothing solid yet yorkie..until bill and moyes sit down and discuss it, its all speculation...but dont expect too much mate, as i fell you may be let down..
Everyone is saying we are skint again and all doom and gloom we are going to sell half the team what about the nike money? thought that deal was worth 10 mil? that plus a couple of fringe players yobo, mucha, anichebe, silva if he wants to go, that could give davey about 15 mil to spend think what he could do with that. cue all the 'that money will go to the bank' posts......grbefc {Ed025's Note - thats the way i would go as well mate..
Agree with most of what your saying. Only problem we have is that Hoillet won't actually be free (5 million compensation fee) but Rodellaga and Pienaar could be realsistic
