Yep, hate saying it but they have a keeper in him. Just hope our next manager is near as good. If he is then were onto something. Best manager they have had in a long long time.

14 Apr 2016 22:47:55
. yes, very true indeed mate. but that's because they recruited a top proven manager in Klopp. & we should do the same, it's about high time our club owners start to live up to the expectations of our club motto 'nil saris nisi optimum'. we now have the financial backing, so there's no excuse!

. looking at the dark side beat Dortmund tonight should be enough to make Blue Bill pull the trigger very soon. makes me feel sick how well they are doing and the fact they have a brilliant manager, we're doing crap and have a crap manager. & to make things worse my wife's a red. she's not stopped gloating since!

A few months ago my mates where saying how many Liverpool players would get into the everton squad when we was having a good run and we couldn't think of any I wonder how many would get in now.

11 at the moment for me unfortunately.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 23:37:56
Wouldn't quite say 10 but the tides are certainly changing unfortunately. At the end of the day, they pay top money on transfers and wages where we don't. There was always a good chance that a good manager would get them playing well. In klopp they certainly have that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lfc fan but based on the season as a whole

Joel
Baines, sakho, Lovren, Coleman
Henderson, can, Barkley
Coutinho, lukaku, firmino

Could argue for deulofeu for firmino - everton actually have a very very good team (a fair number of players would easily get into any team in the BPL) just a bad manager.

Was talking to a mate of mine on Sunday about martinez and he told me a story about his sons mate playing for wigan at Tottenham when they were 5-0 down at half time a player asked him at half time do we're go narrow in the second half boss and keep the score down martinez replied to a stunned changing room no well will play the same way that's what the fans want us to do it finished 9-0 and the away end was empty when they came out for the second half well done Roberto your sending us the same way.

15 Apr 2016 10:02:53
I want Martinez out as much as anyone but actually that Spurs game was 1-0 at half time and Wigan list 9-1 in the end.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 19:37:18
Hey guys, just wanted to say it's hard to badly criticise an attacking player in a game where we were down to 10 men, it's one less man for support and at one point our only attackers were Rom and Barkley. I know neither had an amazing game but, don't start saying they aren't doing enough based on that game. When you go down to 10 men it's really the defense you should be analysing. :)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Apr 2016 20:07:08
I agree but still add that one of thereasons we are struggling is because we rely on these 2 for our attacking play. Our other midfielders contribute little in attacking play even when we have 11 on the pitch. Lennon, Deleufeu and Mirallas add a bit but rarely play and get subbed. Barry, McCarthy, Cleverly and Besic hardly ever make an assist or score and are the backbone of the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 22:13:04
And yet we have scored the fifth highest amounts of goals in the epl Degsy with only the top four scoring more. So what difference is it going to make if they get a couple. It's the goals against that is the problem with the team!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 22:26:44
Amazing, up until recently we were scoring for fun but conceding loads so everyone critised Martinez, so he plays more defensively to stop conceding and hence we are not scoring as much and he is getting critized, what exactly do people want?!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Apr 2016 03:05:46
Sid, we just want the manager to do a proper job with the talented squad he has at his disposal. He is out of his depth in this league (just reference his last two seasons at Wigan and our last two seasons) and is not the man to take us forward. We need a new man in charge.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 19:32:19
Tough game last night, palace where on a high from there win atvtge weekend, palace have been in the same boat as us, under performing, we say we shouldn't be where we are, but palace have some very good players and if they could score they would be higher, that's why we got a point last night, yes RM has to go, but if he didn't make the changes we would of slated him if we lost, if he'd done this more often when we where 2-0 to the good, we might not be talking about him like we are now.

14 Apr 2016 19:25:18
Is this spooky?
We are playing United at Wembley on the same day and date as in 1966 when Colin Harvey scored to get us to the final (1-0)
Not sure what number he was wearing but what chance the same numbered player scores.
That's X Files material!

Just checked that match out on you tube. Hardly high definition and couldn't make out Harvey's number but reckon it was 6. Mind you I still saw more in the clip than I did at the match. Got in just before kick off as my uncle and his mates liked a few bevvies before the match. Burnden Park was rammed and I must have been about 4'10'' in 1966.
On the X files note I don't think we conceded until the final in1966. Senor Robles yet to concede in 2016.

Surely questions should be asked why having paid £13m for a player ie Niasse, is he sat on the bench. At this stage of the season he should be starting with him in order to assess his capabilities whether he will make it in the Premiership. The directors should be asking.

Martinez comments that He didn't think McCarthy second yellow WA justified proves he is in cuckoo land. FRom tv could see McCarthy clearly moves sideways to stop the other player, fully justified and played as if that was what he was wanting.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

14 Apr 2016 17:08:51

still up for grabs, this is for 2 first class train tickets on the charter train organised by worldchoicesports, this leaves lime street at 09.41, direct to wembley central, which is a 5 minute walk to the stadium, then leavez wembley central at 8.30pm, leaving enough time if the game goes into extra time, back to liverpool, this is a private charter train organised solely for everton fans. I paid £220 for 2 first class tickets, not expecting full money back for them, open to sensible offers, this train is sold out.

After a long period where so many posters wanted to get shot of Howard and give Robles an opportunity, I'm somewhat surprised everyone now wants to replace him. I think he has taken his chance and put in some decent performances!
Maybe we should stick with him he will only get better as he is still young, so maybe we should look for a promising No2 to him?

Hi all, think there could be big changes this summer especially if Martinez is finally removed. I see Howard, Hibbert, Gibson, McAidey, Osman, Pienaar, Kone, Lukaku. Possibly Oviedo, Mirallas and Stones all moving on. We have a few young players to come in L. Garbutt, M. Holgate, Williams, Dowell and Tarashaj, That would leave us needing 5 or 6 players. GK possibly Cillesan, Begovic, Heaton, Ospinna and Rico could be in the running. CB not much choice here but we have Jags, Mori, Galloway, Browning and Holgate but we need a proven and commanding CB. We need a creative goal scoring CM not to many of them available. If Mirallas leaves we will need 2 wingers for me Bolaise and Yarmelenko to go with Lennon, Deulofeu and Dowell. We need to 2 strikers, a bit of choice here Bony, Jansen, Benteke, Embolo, the other Belgium lad can't spell his name stats with M and S. Long. Would love Mane and Long but don't think we would be able to get Mane. So for me Embolo and Long to go with Tarashaj and hopefully a much improved Niasse or his stay could be very short lived if he can not get a grip on the Premier League, Bony would be my choice if Niasse needs replacing. So should be a very busy summer so for me would love Koeman, Begovic, Dann, Bolasie, Yarmelenko, Embolo, Bony, Long and a creative, goal scoring CM no one springs to mind.

14 Apr 2016 09:55:50
Good post Dero, definitely like Begovich and the others too though but would prefer him 1st, Yarmolenko and Bolasie yes, Bony was awesome before he went to City, you can hardly impress when you keep a bench warm all match he needs to move and certainly will do, I like Long too but think some fans would prefer we aim higher, Mane is possible mate, just a pity we never finished higher in league as Kante has 20 million buy out, no chance there though.

I don't understand the dislike of Barkley for some lads, Rom was bad again, think his head has been turned, but no one slags him?

Agree4 Disagree3

14 Apr 2016 13:15:27
I agree Stig. Rom was really bad last night. People will talk about the service but I don't think I saw one of his passes reach a player and he kept giving it away. He has so much to learn in holding up the ball especially in situations like last night.

Big Dunc should show some of his videos to him.

Barkley for me stood up in the second half and didn't shy away from wanting the ball just like Lennon.

When Lennon went off we became penned in our half and when Barkley came off we lost any bit of control we had.

Not easy though with 10 men. I'm not sure what McCarthy was thinking about doing that to be honest. It was pure stupidity. I'd fine him a couple of weeks wages for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 14:39:47
I've never seen anyone jump for the ball as much and completely miss it like Rom does. Not slating the guy he has been good for us this season but every ball in the air played to him he is a good few meters too far from reaching it.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 18:59:10
Barkley seemed a lot happier when he had Besic in there with him as he had someone to play football with, was wasteful first half and his tendancey to not track back when he looses the ball is the only thing that winds me up about him.
Roms touch and passing was terrible again but what competition up top does he have to worry about?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i was very disappointed with ross and rom devon, i will tolerate players not being good enough so long as they give 100% but yesterday these 2 looked as though they never gave a toss and that annoys me mate..

14 Apr 2016 06:54:59
It is a strange feeling being an Evertinian at the moment and we all do feel different. Some come on here angry at Martinez saying he is ruining our club. Some say he is just not adequate and what he didat Wigan is being repeated. Others blame Bill Kenright for taking him on and not yet sacking him. I actually feel sorry for the guy and think he is actually way out of his depth. I have posted many times about our lack of goal scoring midfielders and most people do not agree with me. I accept that (but still think I am right) . One thing I did last nigh was watch that game and try really hard to be impartial and just assess what was going on and see positives and negatives for what they are. I will start with positives:
The team spirit was obviously there and everyone gave 100%. Our defence battled well and considering we were down to 10 men for a good chunk of the game did well to take a point. Lennon looked great again. He nipped in to win possession so many times. We had 2 or 3 really good chances to scrore. Mori and Stones looked ok together, so hopefully won't miss Jags too much.
Now the negaatives:
Palace are a bottom team but at times were far superior to us and we were hanging on at times. They really deserved to win. Barkley aside, we had no real goal threat. Lukaku was completely isolated and nearly every time we cleared the ball it came back. Lennon was our best player and even when we went down to 10 men we were still having a good chunk of possession. However, when RM made the changes, we could not hold on to the ball and come the end we were hanging on by pure grit and determination.
My final point is that 4 years ago we were literally battering teams witn shots and attempts. 3 years ago we were still doing it. 2 years ago things started to slide. Right now, we look like a bottom side. I do fear for us and I do think it is to missing Pienaar and Osman who have been replaced by hard working players in a formation that is just not balanced and other teams can organise themselves to stop the threat from Lukaku and Barkley. then we look awful.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

14 Apr 2016 13:26:20
We may have had shots and attempts but we didn't score the amount of goals we are now. Genuine attempts are more important than the amount of shots you have. The problem though is still defensively we have been really poor last and this season and this is the root of our problems.

As for Lukaku being isolated. His job as a lone striker is that when he gets the ball he holds it up and brings in the attacking midfielders. He didn't do that last night. He kept giving it away and hardly found one pass to one of our players. Last night he was truly shocking. He moans and whines but needs to take a look in the mirror and improve his first touch and hold up play.

He's good when running at defenders and that is when we see the best of him but as a lone striker this is something you won't do the most. Back to goal and working to bring in your team mates. This has to be his priority.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 06:23:45
Morning all

Surely now the board have to let him go, team looks lost, there is no game plan, his tactics I have no idea, his subs, no idea.

The players don't want to play for him so why does a semi keep him in a job.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Apr 2016 07:54:36
A semi wouldn't keep you in your job Gigolo ha ha.

Agree8 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 09:58:44
Actually Pb whilst I almost always agree, I did think his subs were the correct ones last night. As much as I think we have gone backwards, last night I thought the team did well to hold out. All be it with a little luck.

But just so that no one gets the wrong impression about this. Martinez must go. Even if we smash them 4-0 and win the cup too. Can't go through another season of seeing mediocre teams above us in the league.

Agree4 Disagree0

14 Apr 2016 03:40:49
Watching the game, I thought it would be a 3-nil win by Crystal Palace at the beginning.

Credit to the defense spending 42 minutes down by a man. J-Mac was careless tonight.

Take off Lennon? It worked out with Oveido. Besic for Kone was necessary. Super-Kev for Barkley was adequate.

Stones was better, but heavens above, can we learn how to clear a ball out of the box? And can someone learn how to whip a corner kick into the box?

A stolen point, it was.

Now, if this team can somehow put together an eight game run (6 in the PL and 2 in the FAC) , the season is salvaged with some silver change to spare.

No FA cup and a bottom half finish should be all she wrote for RM. As other posters have stated, it is a business, and the business is winning.

A FA Cup and a bottom half finish, or vice versa should not be enough to save RM.

Lukaku's destiny lies elsewhere. Funds from his sale could bring in a keeper, a creative midfielder, and another striker (Jansesen and Milik have been featured on the Rumours page) .

JMac was stupid mate not careless, that challenge when on a yellow, that's called letting your team mates down, hope they let him know this in the changing rooms afterwards, not paid silly money to make stupid mistakes

I agree NBITU that even if we win the FA Cup RM should be gone, I personally think he will be too as Bill will not be pulling any strings in 8 weeks time as Mr Moshiri will have full control, to be honest he already has 49.9% so he is the main man already and is hardly likely to listen to Bill if he still wants RM, not long now to a new start, new stadium and new manager

Also Wobe's you stated you wanted a new stadium before they whack you in the fireplace as you are 50 odd now, just remember mate 50 is the new 40 fella.
