There is no way Everton will sell Lukaku in January unless the get a ridiculous offer of over 90 plus

I have to liken the Lukaku situation to similar situation I was in quite a few years ago. I was dating a girl which for want of a better phrase was "out of my league". Now myself and just about everyone around me knew I was punching above my weight with this girl, however my philosophy was.

As long as she didn't leave me in January, when the nights are cold, dark and long and the chances of finding someone else to keep me warm at this time of year were slim to none, I would be OK. On the flip side if she left me in the summer when the days are long, warm and it's good drinking weather, so be it.
As it happens, this is what transpired and looking back I am much happier and content. OH AND I HAVE A LOT MORE MONEY TO SPEND ON BEER AND THE THINGS I LIKE.

What's that saying? Every cloud has a silver lining.

Hi Ed yesterday I posted on here that R K was right to say some players had no future at Everton, well after 24 hrs I have to say I think was the correct thing to do, we have been crying out for a new manager for so long who is not afraid to speak his mind and tell it as it is, look at last year when nearly all posters on here were calling for Martinez to be replaced but he kept saying how phenominal this or that player had been when we all knew he was talking rubbish, i know some players won't like what R K has to say about them so its up to them to pull their socks up and show the manager that they are worthy of and deserve to be wearing the famous shirt, if not he will bring some in who will, i congratulate R K for this stance, and I see on Sky this lunchtime all of the panel was in agreement and also most journalists there is too much player power these days, and R K is the man for me, on a final note I see it is being stated that R K could be looking for up to 3 players in the 20mill bracket in this window happy days, GuernseyBlue

Good post GB totally agree RK is the man for me as well and it's nice to hear abit of honesty from a manager 3 more players of the £20 mill bracket would be something else going to be a roller coaster of a ride the next 2 weeks which I'm looking forward 2.

Hi Ed when I brought up this subject yesterday Ed 002 did not seem to agree and thought R K had been unprofessional but I have to say he seems to be in the minority, football is a game of opinions so let's just hope we finish this window as we started it, i have a feeling there is going to be some gems cheers mate, GuernseyBlue

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - different people have different views GB and from outside i can see why ED002 would think that way, we as supporters have had to put up with some terrible crap especially from martinez over the past few years so some of us will see ronnies comments differently mate..

14 Jan 2017 18:20:09
I think it would be unprofessional if Koeman had not talked to the players before he made the comments to the press but according to him he had talked to the players who have no future at Everton. It is a pleasant change from the Marinez luvvy-duvvy era and long may it continue. I believe most supporters are fed up with seeing players who make over a million pounds a year strolling around the pitch and not living up to their potential. Koeman had not had plenty of time to assess each player and he knows who he wants and those who should be shown their marching orders.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is unprofessional to have such discussions in the public domain and not keep such matters behind closed doors. The club will additionally lose leverage in negotiation.}

14 Jan 2017 19:32:32
That's why I agree with Ed002. The only one who these comments don't effect negatively and may effect positively is Koeman. Don't get me wrong I hated Martinez constant talking BS and I like Koemans straight talking honesty.

Just think some things are better left unsaid in the public domain. I took it he hadn't told the players before hand. If he had it doesn't seem as bad but still isn't good for the club as Ed002 says.

Anyway it's a minor negative. The only one I can think of at the moment. I think it probably won't matter in time as Koeman seems very focused and determined to bring better things to Everton.

Starting tomorrow with City. I'm confident. A point gained at least.

Wakey, wakey. Personally, I have a view that Koeman is trying to bring into line the dressing room.

The comments made by players about the lax situation at the club over the past couple of years might suggest many have the wrong mentality and attitude.

No disrespect to the ED's or us fans but he's been a manager for a very long time and managed at the highest level. He's won trophies and improved Southampton's position in the league the past two season and in his first with us so far improved from 11th to 7th.

Let's just leave him to it as it seems as though he knows what he is doing.

Seen a report saying we are looking at young Dutch left back Jurich Carolina, if there is any truth in this I am assuming he is for the U23's squad

Just been reading a report on Vincent Janssen, who we were talking a lot about last year before he joined (of course) Spuds for £18 million. He was supposed to be the next big thing and I was disappointed we didn't get him. 3 goals in 23 games and none from open play, along with comments from Pochettino referring to his fitness and motivation suggest we might have dodged a bullet. I still feel we have to get another striker but just shows there are no guarantees that new players who come in will work out. These things happen at every club. We moan about Niasse, McGeady, etc. but Spuds spent £48 million on this lad and Sissoko and we had posters on here berating the board for not getting these players in. We need a bit more patience and a bit more realism. We're going in the right direction even though it takes time.

{Ed025's Note - your right mate..

We were also linked with Batshuayi and look how that 33 million has gone, can't even get a game when Costa was out. This is where walsh will earn his corn, Sussing out the character of a player as well as their talent.

Quite right. As you say every club had duds and wonder buys. For every niasse and janssen, there is a dele alli (5 mil, wow) or Tim Cahill (2 mil)
We can't expect the board or managers to get every purchase right but some managers are better than others.
We just have to trust their judgement, support the players and if it don't work out let them move on to somewhere it may work for them and we try something different.

I think with the huge confidence round the club, new players etc, we may get something from city tomorrow. Coyb.

Never forget Torres! Chelsea also had Shevchenko, Zhirkov, Wright-Phillips and Boulahrouz. Utd had Veron, Anderson, Kleberson, Bebe, Falcao, Di Maria (and I would add Depay) . Spurs had Soldado as well as the two mentioned above (and Sergei Rebrov - remember him? ) . City have had Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Jo, Negredo, Mangala. Our noisy neighbours (and I take no pleasure in this) have had Downing, Keane, Diouf, Aquilani and we must not forget Andy Carroll. Van der Meyde, Bilyaletdinov and Niasse put together don't add up to his fee alone. If we start spending money closer to that of our rivals, we will probably see a few who are flops over the years, but I think - for the money - Everton's signings over the years have been as good overall as almost any other to-flight club. Possibly except Southampton.
