Did you ever see Koeman play, good footballer and didn't mess about. I am old School also mate, some of these prima donna's now a days should be done for fraud. Hand on the back, roll around on the ground screaming blue murder.

Am8s giving to much credit there mate. Didn't take a genius to realise what was going on. All Ed002 does is apply a dose of commonsense. Some of us (myself included) need some of Ed002's sometimes cutting comments to bring us back down to earth.

I just think we all need to be patient I'm sure RK will have targets in mind and I don't think they will all be obvious as the press guess.
At saints after poch left and Liverpool raided the squad no one had heard of a lot of the quality players he brought in!
I'm sure it will be a slower and less buoyant introduction than that of RM and he has not set the bar to high!
The very best to him he understands and respects the history understands it's a big job and won't happen overnight, me personally I can't wait for a new season with renewed hope!

From what I believe (I'm sure edd002 can clarify) , neither of poch or rk had much to do with Southamptons transfer dealings.

What are the odds for an away trip to St Marys first game of the season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2016 18:49:57
As there are 38 possible fixtures, I'd say the odds of being away to Southampton are 37 to 1. That's in a completely fair and random situation, but, if you believe the fixtures are rigged, then the odds should be shorter ;-)

its more like 18/ 1 as I read somewhere that we will be playing at home for first couple of games due to re-development of Anfield not being finished and the RS will have to play away.

15 Jun 2016 05:08:58
Bournemoth at home first game, followed by Hull City away, Southampton middle of November, first derby 20th December, that's if you believe the leaked fixtures.

Welcome aboard Ronald Blueman!

Thank you Mr Moshiri for the statement of intent.
And thank you Mr Kenwright, you have taken some stick for the lack of investment but I feel you have unearthed the right investment in Mr Moshiri!

I read a post where someone wrote, "full respect to RK if he gets a tune out Niasse".
Well, that struck a chord with me, because:
Our squad may have several virtuoso players, but they need a maestro to conduct them.
The manager needs to deal with one player in particular who's always blowing his own trumpet.
Others need to re-learn how to harmonise and make beautiful music together.
Bringing our our young talent together with quality signings should get us to number one soon.
The fans who've been brassed-off for the last couple of seasons can now look forward to everyone at the club singing from the same hymn sheet.
Any player who isn't up for it should simply pluck off ;-)

14 Jun 2016 17:36:26
I think we are going to really struggle this coming season.
To get a semi decent GK in were going to have to throw a lot of cash at any deal.
The 200 million that is talked about on nsno is bs, financial fair play.

We have experienced players but a lot are the wrong side of 30 and most of the youth have too little. villa in the making

We do not deal with change well and have a huge amount of change going on at board level squad level and with management

And if we start selling our top players then are equal replacements really going to come here.

Agree1 Disagree7

14 Jun 2016 18:58:41
BackoftheNet: In my humble opinion, the reason why we haven't handled change well in the past is that the change exposed any lack of leadership and weakness, which led to fear, uncertainty and doubt.
The hope now is surely that Mr Moshiri, Ronald Koeman - and anyone else involved in the running of Everton - are clear in what the strategy is, know what resources are available, have clearly-set targets to achieve, and have the ambition, determination and energy to succeed.

I am in harmonious agreement with you there Cowpat. It would be music to my ears to hear some success at our great club. Our Irish quartet will need to improve though. And I would like to see Mo start (Mozart) a few more games.

Degsy. You're spot on there mate. Coleman is in need of a confidence boost. Mac needs to be smarter in midfield especially positional. Gibson fitness and Mcgeady I'm afraid needs to go. Not all will agree but that's my assessment of them. But def agree with you that they all need improving.

14 Jun 2016 14:50:17
All this talk of £100million transfer spend in reality all prem clubs have money to spend we all saw that over the last 12 months but what our new wealth actually does is allow us to go for better quality players £20m player now is affordable to all clubs, bottom line is does not make bit off difference spending 100 or 300million manager has to get best out of the players and Koeman I believe will do that.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

14 Jun 2016 14:30:36
. app. Koemans first signing will be Arnautovic from Stoke as he has a release clause of £13 million and we're happy to meet it. id be well happy with this if true. & bye bye Mirallas too.

Had a bit of a hit and miss season but on his day this lad is class. If Koeman can really get the best out of his players he would be a great signing.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jun 2016 17:12:21
Don't want him. Lazy player and by all accounts he is a big time Charlie who doesn't get on with a lot of the squad. That's according to John Walters of Stoke.

14 Jun 2016 16:56:59

14 Jun 2016 13:49:04
Signed, sealed and delivered. Finally we can say for certain he's our manager. No hurry on signings for me. Don't want to waste money. Players must fit Everton and improve the squad. Otherwise there is no point. Hate the attitude of some to sign players left right and centre.

Credit to Moshiri and BK. Nothing was held back and we got our man. Future looks brilliant. Manager who was a top player in his time who's also a good manager. Investment in the squad. A new stadium!

What more could we ask for?

Sure he isn't, but I hope Ed 002 isn't on Twitter. The phrase "statement of intent" is flying around enough to make even my head spin.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't use Twitter but my great pal #WonderDogSparky does sometimes.}

14 Jun 2016 09:08:05
As ED002 has alluded to (I would not presume to put words into mouths) all this talk of a £100 million transfer war chest when put into reality turns out to be no more than the majority of other Premier League Clubs will have in their hands. Now if this was £100 mill on top of the TV money, that would be significant but somehow I doubt it.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

14 Jun 2016 14:00:24
I'm pretty sure that most teams will not be spending £100mil on players.

As for us doing the same it is all speculation but the most important thing we needed was a manager who can first of all do something with the players he has already got.

We have got an excellent squad of players that need an injection of new blood but are depserate for a manager that is strong and identifies problems then rectifies those problems.

We can't have a manager again that ignores them for 3 years until it deteriates to a degree our survival is under threat.

We will see but for me I'm a happy man. I didn't want Martinez but after his first season I'll admit I was happy and surprised. However, we found out over the next two seasons he was the manager most thought he was.

This to me feels different and it feels like we have someone who can add stature and significance to the club. There are some that still need to kick themselves out of thinking small time but already people are starting to think bigger and hopefully better.

COYB NSNO.

Just read the " saints twitter in meltdown" story in the Echo . It shows some of the tweets by the Southampton fans. I appreciate they must be feeling frustrated at the moment, but Liverpudlians make more sense than that lot. Maybe if they hadn't sold all their stars since Walcott they might have been able to keep a manager.

omg what's wrong with people moaning on this web page, first its the manager not signing, then its the lenght of the contract, now the players linked, dor gods sake give the man a chance to walk in the bloody door before we maon at everything, just because its in the paper doesn't mean its true, and just remember just because a player doesn't do well at one club doesn't mean he wont in another team, look at payet look at lakaku, look at barry, look at tim howard, all not doing a lot at there past clubs, but changed teams and excelled, if a manager thinks he can do a job for us then have faith in our manager, and also look at naisse or what ever he's called, great player in the russian league but looks like a complete waste of money.

Seen some comments that Coleman played bad last night for Ireland. I seen every minute of the game and thought he done well. Walters who was playing in front of him was injured and most of the play came down that side. Considering that he done well.

Goal against was nothing to do with Coleman and they were unfortunate not to win the game. Had some close shots early on.

After last nights performance we'll struggle to get our money back on Lukaku.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2016 07:44:57
Yes he was bad but imho people are summarising Lukaku too much on just this one game. International tournaments never done anything amazing for Rooney but he still had a successful career.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not defending Lukaku. He needs to get his head out of the clouds. I don't think he's world class. He's not as bad as he was in last nights game either. Somewhere in the middle would be realistic.

I said it before Martinez played a lot of focus on Lukaku and very rarely left him out of the team. He got his fair share of being looked after and helped at Everton.

Would he get as much help, focus and attention at a CL club as at Everton? Not a hope! If he doesn't score a goal every 3 games at least he'll be shipped out as soon as possible and be looking for a new club.

He's still young and I would like to see him at Everton next season. Albeit with better competition for his place and less focus on him going forward. We need to broaden our outlet going forward.

Involve another striker and midfield players more. Get them to chip in more with goals. Finally get that sledge hammer of a foot off Lukaku and get ballerina shoes on him so he can actually control the ball when it is played to him.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jun 2016 18:55:03
Lukaku is a one good game in seven player and hasn't got the first idea in terms of movement and don't get me going on ball control or timing. Last night was symptomatic of his performances this season.
It was interesting that a Polish player was asked why he wasn't playing in the Premeirship, his reply was " if I was two metres tall and couldn't control the ball, I might consider it' . I wonder who he was referencing!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2016 06:45:30
World class Rom didn't win a single aerial dual and had the lowest pass completion last night add to that he watched a centre halfor spray and 50 yard pass for Italy first goal and his first touch was non existent. See none of this comes as a surprise to me considering I seen this all season. No fight and no closing down from the so called best in the world. Looks like he won't get his dream move after all especially as Conte will be Chelsea boss and seen him first hand and Mourinho didn't like him at Chelsea due to his ego maybe. Juventus will now have seen he can't break down an organised defence so that leaves him short of options. One things for sure I don't want to see him next season i would rather have players that want to play.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2016 06:20:35
''I'm among the best, " Lukaku told World Football magazine a week ago.

This guy needs to take a deep breath hold it for a second, breath out slowly and admit to himself that Jose wasn't that wrong about him and Everton gave him a chance and the patience he would never have got from a CL team!

Italian defenders have probably cost us millions by exposing his failings. . . what price now for 'billy big balls'?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2016 06:42:33
Maybe he will see after this tournament that he's not as good as he thinks, a big maybe I know. But the thing is he has 3 years left on his contract and therefore there is no risk in still asking for top dollar or stay put.

RK can then get to work on his game and his behaviour.

It was always going to be announced Tuesday's welcome to Goodson Mr Koeman a born winner will put players in there place and will not tolerate egos. Winning mentality counts for a lot in football.
I think stones will stay with clause put in place after a season, Barkley will sign new contract but I think Lukaku will go, someone posted about pelle and I tell you what I would not mind him at all not as a replacement but you need more than one option sadly something we have missed for years but his touch hi better than Lukaku better in the air may not score 20-25 goals but I'm sure he would be great addition, I think goalkeeper is a must Forster would be great he does have a mistake in him but which don't we need someone that will give us 8-10 years, I want a warrior of a centre back to play with stones.

Been thinking of some players i'd like us to go for. Clissens ziyech tello and janssen. Ignore the spelling. can't see these costing too much and are all realistic options imo

Players that can't cut it and need to go for me would be kone mcgeedy and possibly gibson.

Belgiums performance tonight could be a blessing in disguise as maybe just maybe lukaka may have learned he's not as good as his agent and father have made out. And he might yet agree to stay for another season.

I don't think we need a major rebuild and have plenty of talent coming through the academy to bring in when needed. Who would you guys like to see us go for.
