People need to forget about these transfers rumours! It's not going to happen, we are a big club and the potential is there but people won't invest because we need a new stadium and they won't see a return on the investment straight away! We need to look at the basics which are getting Pienaar and getting back into the Europa League. Kenright does all he can for our club and we would be nowhere near 7th place if it wasn't for him and Moyes!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Kenwright done nothing a board who hav done wat ,failed on everything ,n please don't say backed moyes ,only a cretin would,nt have backed him .imagine Everton without moyes n with same board over last ten years .in championship

Agree0 Disagree0

Without kenwright we would have been in the championship long ago and maybe lower it was kenwright that got rid of peter johnson, remember him the man who would not give royle 2.5m for tore andre flo, and brought in david moyes.

Howard
Hibbert Distin Heitinga Baines
Osman Gibson Cahill Pienaar
Fellaini
Jelavic

I think that with this team we can definitly challenge for Europe. I don't think that we need to buy loads of players and sell loads of fringe players. In terms of creativity, Pienaar has got tons and Jelavic has revitalised Cahill. So I think that we have to sign Pienaar and then any other players that will help refresh the squad will be a bonus.

Instead of selling Anichebe as everyone is suggesting, we should keep him and improve him. Next season should be a perfect opportunity to bring Barkley, Vellios and Baxter into the first team, maybe push Silva and Junior into the team if they are doing well in training.

If we are somehow are able to conjure up some big bucks then we should be thinking about Donovan either loan or permenantly, Dempsey. We should also get some people in on frees like Diame or Rodellega. I think that next year will definitly be a good one for us blues. Let's look forward to next season and continue supporting the best team in the premier league. Once a blue, always a blue. Once an Evertonian, always an Evertonian. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.

We can't be relying on other teams to win cups/mess up to get into Europe, the past two seasons 7th hasn't been enough, we should be aiming for 5th, and it is achievable with this squad of players.

i wasnt at the game yesterday, can someone tell me why cahill was sent off yesterday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was a bit heated after Cabaye shoved a ball boy in the first half. He went over and apologised at half time. Cabaye then instigated it by making remarks to Tim, hence him losing it for a split second. I think had it been a more experienced man in the middle, common sense would've prevailed. The club have appealed.

It is quite possible that the majority of people reading this have never heard of the most recent player to be linked with Everton Football Club; then again, what might cheer up Everton supporters is the fact that manager David Moyes does have a track record of plucking relatively unknown players from obscurity and making them a success (Cahill, Lescott, Arteta, Pienaar etc.).

Matt Phillips, a 21 year old striker currently plying his trade at promotion hopefuls Blackpool, was watched by Moyes in the second semi-final leg in which the young man scored a crucial goal and helped secure Blacpool's appearance in the play-off final thereby furthering hopes of a return to the Premier League next season.

He is young and probably wouldn't demand a huge transfer fee, especially if Blacpool are defeated by the Hammers in the final on May 19th, but should David Moyes take the gamble?

Phillips signed for Blackpool from Wyconbe Wanderers in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £700,000 just shy of his 20th birthday.  He came to the Seasiders with great promise and a growing reputation in the lower leagues.  The current Blackpool front three, which includes former Newcastle United flipper Lomana Lua-Lua, have collectively caused quite a stir in the Championship this season.

Their blistering pace, trickery and individual eye for goal have caused opposition defences a whole host of problems.  Matt Phillips in particular has impressed with a string of explosive performances for his club that have seen the England Under-20 international score some outstanding individual goals for Blackpool.

Earlier this year, in Blackpool's FA Cup third round trouncing of Fleetwood Town, Phillips was outstanding and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has clearly done a magnificent job with the team and the style of football they play - their one and two touch intricate football is both impressive and surprising for a Championship side.

Whether they could continue to play this style successfully in the Premiership is open to question but Swansea haven't done too badly playing by a similar ethos.  Undoubtedly Phillips has benefitted from playing under Holloway, and the standard of play his Blackpool team currently pursue to a relative measure of success.

One may question whether the assessment of Phillips capability has been aided by hindsight but even so, having watched Phillips score an incredible hat-trick against Fleetwood just a few months ago, it was obvious the vast potential the young man visibly possessed.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Great assessment mate. I've heard some good things about the lad Phillips and also Thomas Ince. Hopefully Moyesy has taken a good look at the lads and maybe next season we could see one or both of them in Royal Blue.

Neville

Rodwell Gibson
Johnson Piennar
Fellaini/
Dempsey

Jelavic

This would be my team for next season and I believe could challenge the top 4. I think we can get another season out of Neville & Hibbert. But need to look and bringing in a young rb to blood him ready for the next season if Coleman can't step it up possibly Kyle Naughton. Distin & Duffy to cover cb. Not sure what we like for cover at lb as anyone see anything of garbutt playing? If not distin can cover. It's obvious to everyone that piennar is priority signing, have gueye as his understudy. If we can get someone on the rw and have the threat on both wings and creativity Adam Johnson would be awesome on loan. I would have Fellaini or Dempsey behind Jelavic. And think rodwell and Gibson will be a strong midfield.

Just watched the Steven Piennaar interview on the Everton Website. You can clearly see that the lad wants to play for the blues and that the manager, fans, players want him to stay. So all we need is Blue Bill and the rest of the board to find a couple of million to make sure this happens. Sounds so simple ......

James {Ed025's Note - it is though james...get rid of a couple of fringe players...and bobs your uncle..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Problem is, our squad isn't big enough, if we get rid of even fringe players than our squad is too small. surely someone like Robert earl, he's worth a few hundred million isn't he? surely he could get 10 million or so for the club he claims to support!

Agree0 Disagree0

Am hopin so Ed. I really believe now that we are only a couple of players short now of havin a team that can compete with the teams at the top (which has been proved since January) and Piennaar is definitely one of those players that can change a game and make the difference.

Is there still interest from chelsea in fellaini? a week ago there was talk of a 20 mil bid. Obviously we wouldnt get the full 20 mil to spend but fingers crossed moes would get half, 4 mil for pienaar so gives us 6 mil for a new signing. Who is out there at that price range guys?
i think maybe carrick (been linked a few times) or adam johnson from man s**tty {Ed024's Note - If fellaini was sold for that amount moyes would get at least 15 mill of it to spend

Believable1 Unbelievable1

How about this for an idea - Dont sell Felli {Ed024's Note - He won't be sold unless a ridiculous bid comes in, moyes will look to sell fringe players, what he said was that if an andy carroll type bid came in for one of the main players it would be considered, we are building a great team and he won't want that disrupted

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton don't sell cheap, look at the lescott, rooney and arteta deals, moyes will fleece any buyers and use the funds wisely, i think only fringe players will be sold.

So who spent arteta cash or did bank take that if so debt must be37mil so must have cash an sky money 7th money ed ste44 {Ed024's Note - I think the money went to the bank and securing lucrative new contracts for fellaini and barkley, i think the pineaar money is ring fenced and i think moyes will bring in a couple more players as well, things are tight but we did some great business in january, so keep the faith

Believable1 Unbelievable0

You're right, Arteta money was spent on Jelavic and Felliani's and Barkley's contracts. Not to mention Gibson's (tiny) fee and both his and Pienaar's wages. I also think the Pienaar money is available and that's it. Honestly that's ok, because there are good enough free agents to bring in one or two as well as Pienaar.

Steve EFC {Ed025's Note - there are some great freebies out there, and you never know, if we get pienaar...we may get kranjcar....buy one..get one on a free!..

Looks like Pienaar isn't staying at Goodison if his official twitter feed is anything to go by!

"The last few months was the best months in my entire career"

"God bless you guys"

"Wana thank all the Everton supporters for making me feel at home was a very sad day for me yesterday"

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Pineaar will stay a blue, he is at home now

Bez the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure Pienaar is going to stay at Everton, I am sure he wasn't going to say something like I want to stay at Everton, he is a professional footballer, and a Spuds player at that, he needs to respect Spuds as well in the process. Hopefully we can get a deal thrashed out, if we sign only Pienaar and lose no-one, then for me, that will be a good summer. Of course, Dempsey or another player, would make it even better

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2012 12:28:03
Much as I'd like Pienaar to sign let's not get too desperate about it - if spurs want to hold him and everton to ransom there are other creative wingers out there!
We need two decent wingers to put the finishing touches to a very decent tlooking team - hopefully pienaar on the left and another on the right - but if we don't get pienaar then there are others who can also do a good job - Jelavic and fellaini are looking a handful and are getting goal chances in every game now - so let's not panic about pienaar - there are others and for the kind of decent wages pienaar will be on, there should be a few gooduns that would be prepared to come and fit in instead

it's up to pienaar though eventually - if he kicks up enough fuss and refuses to play elsewhere we'll get him

Believable3 Unbelievable1

We need him, simple, I think Spurs, who are probably keen to offload him considering he is one of their top earners, can be reasonable for once, and I do think 5-6mil is a fair price for the lad, I mean considering we sold him for 3mil with 6months left.

Agree0 Disagree0

everton to bid for steven fletcher

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I doubt we could afford him, personally think we should look at cheaper options, especially since we have Jelavic, and Fletcher would be back up, my first preference would be Rodallega, think he would be a very very good squad player and could do a job for us on a free.

Agree0 Disagree0

Offload McFadden (even though I do think he's been acceptable since arriving) to free up wages for Rodallega. Get in Pienaar and use any extra money on a squad player we need.

From the Net - Australia news

AUSSIES ABROAD: Socceroo Tim Cahill was shown a straight red card for grabbing the throat of Yohan Cabaye during a scuffle that took place after Everton’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.
The incident ignited after the final whistle when Cahill allegedly confronted Cabaye about his push on a ballboy earlier in the match and the French midfielder made a remark that incensed the Socceroo.

Cabaye later apologised to the ballboy and Cahill.

"I would like to apologise for the cross words I exchanged with Tim Cahill which resulted in his red card and my booking on the final whistle," he said.Degsybluenose

Absolute demoition job from the Blues. Could and should have been more. Pienaar needs to be signed up asap. If we can keep this squad together and maybe add one or 2 more, we can look at maybe attacking the top 4 sides next season. Some brilliant football played by us yesterday.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Seriously Bill, you and your cronies need to cough up the 5mil, I mean 5mil is all we need to challenge Europe again, which I firmly believe we would do if we sign Pienaar and keep everyone else. Of course a couple of freebies such as Diame and Rodallega wouldn't hurt either. {Ed025's Note - its not just for his quality, that we need to sign him...imagine if it goes tits up, and we dont get him?, what that would do for the morale of the team..it can not be allowed to happen!...i just hope harry does not try to take advantage, and try to price us out the market, because other teams will be offering more for him..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think by that Levy means the likes of Modric, Bale and VdV, which means, fringe players, like Stevie P will need to be sold in order to get new players and increase wages for their stars, so hopefully Stevie P comes home

Agree0 Disagree0

They did not consider him a 'top player' though did they? - he was on the bench all the time - and if Pienaar throws his toys out of the pram they'll be paying 70 grand a week for a problem player - they should be sensible and let him go - some players just 'fit' at certain clubs - and that's the case with Pienaar and Everton - hopefully Harry will have bigger fish to fry than annoying everton and pienaar!

Thought gibson was just class today great signing for just 500k could be Moyes best bargain considering price. {Ed025's Note - the three wise men, who came just after christmas...gibbo, jelly and peanuts, changed our season around...and how!..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Gibson was a bargain cant believe we got im so cheap happy days

Agree0 Disagree0

I know this may sound ridiculous, but i firmly do believe, that Gibson could be Moyes' best buy yet, I mean 500K in this day and age is unheard of, and the effect he has no the side speaks for itself, with him in the line up, we are still unbeaten in the league. Type of player that you don't necessarily notice him week in week out, but when he is absent, it is clear as day to me, I mean we weren't at our best against Stoke and Wolves, and I do believe that his influence, to get the ball and pick the right pass is what we were lacking.

Additionally, the lad is on 24 and has plenty of footy left in him, and he joined 5months ago, he is only going to get better!! {Ed025's Note - he has been quality mate, and you forgot to mention that he is also a goal threat aswell..

Agree0 Disagree0

I also heard the fee was 500k... but were there any add ons Ed? BlueTone {Ed025's Note - not as far as i know tone..

Agree0 Disagree0

Just proves that a much hailed "greatest manager in the sport today" sometimes doesn't know what talent he had/had. Knew from the start that all Gibson needed was a team willing and confident to give him the chance, and we did. Never doubt Moyes. He wouldn't spend five puonds on something he didn't believe in fully, let alone 500k.
