Hey all.
My Tottenham mate said Tottenham did this a few seasons ago. Went out and bought 7 new players and the team took ages to gel although that first season they finished 6th I think he said. They only have 2 of them 7 still in their squad. Also Tottenham beat Dortmund yesterday 3-1 and the percentage of play was 70/ 30 against Tottenham. My point is last week forget about Tottenham are a quality team with clinical finishing. My point I guess you can say is. We all (me included) got super excited about the takeover and the new players bought in and expected to hit the ground running. But in reality I don't think it happens.

Stick with it blues. Keep supporting.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nice sentiment mowfee and im certain we will all give our support to the club..but bloody hell mate they dont half make it difficult at times..

Good post Mowfee82. Darkest hour is just before the dawn.

I for one said Stay calm keep supporting but Omg I say hit the panic button and bring in the youngsters.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - well they cant do any worse cosh..

14 Sep 2017 22:11:36
I didn't watch but Everton are better than a 3.0 hammering I'm not a bitter supporter I appreciate the jokes but I hope you recover.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they were not tonight JBLP, in all honesty if it was 6-0 it would have still flattered us mate..

14 Sep 2017 22:24:05
Why dowell was sent out on loan to forest ( where he is playing great) after the pre season he had is a mystery.3 number 10s playing behind a striker and not one had the ability dowell has. gylfi is a dead ball specialist, Rooney brought back fir sentimental value and vlasic playing first full game. Full back needs to be Kenny, at least give Niasse another try up top. Sad to say but Baines has lost it now, jags not good enough, Williams definitely not good enough. Maybe links to Thomas delany is what we need in midfield. Some creativity without it being a number 10.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Sep 2017 23:48:16
I watched dowell on tuesday playing for forest v sunderland and he was very poor.

14 Sep 2017 21:16:50
I have been one of the managers and the teams biggest supporters and defenders, even though I knew we had not played well so far this season. I kept hoping the team would click. But these last two games have seen a downturn in form to a dangerous level. With teams taking us apart at ease.
I like everyone else was buzzing prior to the season starting, now I'm getting really worried. This Sunday could be the nail in the coffin, actually really worried that we might get ripped apart by the Mancs, with you know who having a field day.
Hope I'm wrong.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i hope so too mate..

14 Sep 2017 20:48:28
Does everyone think it's now time to panick because I sure as hell do some players need time to bed in but not all of them what has happened to us.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its not panic button time just yet billy, but if things dont improve and quickly mate...then im sure questions will be asked

14 Sep 2017 22:22:41
It's the performance that's worrying me ed sometimes you get beat but can take positives from the game we can take absolutely nothing from our last 3 games we should have kept valencia for one more season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - but valencia alone would not change much billy, the rest of the team lack energy and drive and are so static that even if we had shearer up front we would still struggle to score, we were second best in every department and its becoming a very worrying trend mate..

15 Sep 2017 12:39:02
I think the point about Valencia Ed, is the same as with Delofeu and Mirallas, they may be hit and miss but by heck when on song and we drove at teams it kept them on the back foot. If we had kept that method but also not neglected defence then perhaps Brown Shoes would still be here. His problem as now beginning to appear with Mr Koeman (still think he will come good and a much better manager)
, was/ is stubborness and refusal to change. In Koemans case, he needs to realise that we have brought to the club at least two maybe three new players that are just not up to standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think the players we have are ok dunc, its the system we are playing and lack of intensity that is worrying me, for me we need lookman in and bolasie back to give us some impetus, even mirallas would do and im not his biggest fan, but we will just have to see mate..

14 Sep 2017 20:37:44
Koeman has got to fix this and fast, I can see another Martinez saga coming from the fans, god help us on Sunday that's all I can say the players just don't seem arsed Koeman seems to have a split team there at the moment he needs to do something quick.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

14 Sep 2017 20:58:48
This is very similar to the Martinez pattern, even this early into Koeman's second season. Son just text'd me 'Should be called 'Everton Nil' from now on.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:33:48
Well that was absolutely gut-wrenching to watch tonight. So glad that Lyon didn't get the win otherwise I'd be worried about progression prospects. No need to highlight how bad because it was simply every aspect of our game. At least Koeman had the balls to admit his part in this atrocity and i honestly believe he'll turn it around. He's still 100% the right man for us in my eyes.

So for the select few supporters (you know who you are) who kept stating we didn't need to worry about replacing Lukaku because we'd get more goals throughout our team, how do you feel now? It was so obvious we needed a solid goalscorer, and i can't wait for the Jan window to address this, even with just a short term solution. Until then does anyone have any realistic ideas? Mine would be to play Mirallas up front. He has played and performed as a CF in the past. His attitude is a clear concern but i do think he'd score a few. The only other suggestion, very risky but surely worth a try, is to give Klaassen a shot in attack. We overspent on number 10s that we can't accomodate in the same game, so Klaassen could be the front man with Sig and Rooney behind. He has shown he has an eye for goal with an impressive tally last year, and we know he can time his runs well. I think he'd be an option and then not a 30 million benchwarmer.

Please can everybody not jump to the "Koeman out" scenario. It's still very early days. I think, deep down, we all knew the sequence of league defeats was a distinct possibility and shouldn't be reflective of what we can achieve. Yes tonights result hurts, i honestly thought tonight would be the bright spot in a harsh run of games, but with 5 more games to try and qualify, we should back the team more than ever!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2017 20:50:58
Agree re not panicking about the group because we have five games left, my concern is more confidence of the back of an aggregate 6-0 which could have been 12-0. Points total so far in the league is probably about right given the fixtures, but concerned about the lack of improvement.

It's not so much about the overloaded midfield either, more that we looked so off the pace for the second time in a week.

The good times aren't far away with the investment and new stadium, but today is a bad day.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid the good times look miles away for me windsor, the stadium will be no use in the championship mate and thats what we looked like today..

14 Sep 2017 20:51:57
Agree with that 100 percent Worcester mate, but it was bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 21:19:13
The worrying things are Baines? He didn't seem bothered. Keane looked like he had an off game, siggurdson half a yard off pace which is kind of understandable. Schneidelin should have been running round like a mad man considering. Steklenburg looked good. Vlasic looked lively but needs time on the training ground. Holgate and DCL looked ok. We can all bitch about needing a big man up front but that is not going to help if the 9 men behind him can't get hold of the ball.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Sep 2017 21:52:21
I generally consider myself a moderate guy. I don't get too riled up by much but that performance was embarrassing to watch. You could see after the first 40 mins Atalanta lost interest in the game because they knew we posed 0 threat.

The worrying thing for me lately are the performances.

We just look dire every game. Our defense melts away at the sight of any kind of pace or aggression, we signed 45 midfielders over the summer but they might as well not be on the pitch because the ball gets lumped up to our (often lone) striker who can't keep hold of the ball and then it just keeps coming back at our defense. That process just goes on rinse and repeat.

The worst part of it all is that Koeman doesn't seem to look like he knows how to fix any of these issues. You assume if he did he would have communicated this to the players. Every game though it's the same mistakes.

Yes, we had a tough run of fixtures but if we played the way we played tonight against most championship teams we would have been hammered.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have to agree CT..

14 Sep 2017 21:59:29
Smit it is completely about the big man upfront. There needs to be a focus for the midfield to play towards instead of sideways/ backwards passing. Plus confidence of goals will help the whole team step up their game.

Windsor, i wasn't saying overloaded midfield, more overloaded number 10s. Rooney, Sig, Klaassen, how many players did we really need for the role, never mind the likes of barkley who could also slip in. I agree we look off the pace, i just don't understand why we are so far off the pace in terms of sharpness and movement. It looks like our players have no hunger at all to perform.

Does anyone else also think our defence is a real concern? I know he didn't play tonight but i am really unhappy with the performances of Williams. Right back is an obvious concern but Colemans return will be a real bonus. I love Jags but he tries so hard in the games he plays that he can't play every match, age comes to us all so i can't blame him really. New CB and CF are without doubt essential for us to move forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:31:44
RK saying he does'nt know what he's doing wrong, he only has to ask any supporter an they'll put him right, but then again we know nothing, he must be right he gets millions each year to get us playing like this.

14 Sep 2017 22:51:27
You know what JCW that wouldn't be the worst move the club could make. But still think a manager should be given a certain amount of time before we bomb him out. After all where not Palace, and how many felt what they did was wrong?

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:23:59
We nearly won the league under Gordon Lee . I think it was 1978 . I would swap that team of hard working talented superstars on £300 a week for this present shower .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2017 20:15:57
Not witnessed anything like this since Gordon Lee. Like watching walking football absolute disgrace.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats a terrible slur on gordon lee mooncat..

😂😂 thanks ed first smile tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your welcome mate..

14 Sep 2017 20:12:48
The story has been similar the last three games. when we have the ball there seem so few options because there is so little movement and running off the ball. yesterday the liverpool attack was referred to as the red arrows so fast did they move when they had possession, creating gaps in the defence. whereas we seem like a team of ponderous individuals who have little urgency and initiative. Allied to too many duplicates in the same side and no width in the selection. the whole strategy needs a radical rethink by the management.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree oscar..

14 Sep 2017 20:38:05
Simple isn't it. Solid defence front to back, back to front, stops the other side scoring. Pace and width wins games. Always been the case, but now a days it is all like American Grid Iron, IT Tablets, patterns and plays, more and more theories. Just get back to what works. If Mr Moshri is the person we all hope he is, then slaps will be coming.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:56:01
Hit the nail on the head there mate, total lack of width, pace, ideas, passion, determination. So easy to play against. Needs to change drastically otherwise we'll be in big trouble this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:59:03
Funny thing is we were all saying Barkley and Barry slowed our play down, me included. If anything we look worse now because we've got no width and three players who all want to be in the same position.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 20:09:17
All the players should donate their wages for last week to a local charity because they haven't earned a penny of it, after refunding the fans who went to Italy. Shambles.

Give him a month then no better sack him give it to Unsworth. Be arsed with another Martinez for over a year. He's just a bad manager always has been.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Sep 2017 20:12:17
KOEMOANS negativity will hold us back. Get rid of it before it sets in. Moyes and Kenwright held back the club that way for so long.

Agree0 Disagree2

14 Sep 2017 20:20:14
Sacked Martinez, Unsworth for one game wins 3-0. Under 23's doing well/ done well for 3 seasons. Problem with todays game is it is commercial and business driven, Unsworth and the quiet competent one's are not 'names' so don't stand a chance.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 21:00:53
Have to disagree bigduncsmum, Craig Shakespeare is a prime example of a man who is promoted within who isn't a superstar name, yet done well last season and isn't doing to bad so far this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 19:48:49
Any chance the travelling fans can get a refund from Koeman's and the players' pockets? They should be ashamed, Koeman especially. and I thought Martinez was arrogant and stubborn with his poor choices and tactics!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

14 Sep 2017 19:13:51
Ed ino this isn't a rumour but what on earth has happened at Everton. We have been conned this summer. No striker. No width. No pace. No runners. No skill just pass it backwards no dignity we are poor and how is it going to change?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i wish i knew dunc, that is rock bottom tonight so where do we go from here?..

14 Sep 2017 20:03:19
I know it's early in the season but I'm seriously concerned about our fate. there's no passion, desire, urgency or direction.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2017 20:02:43
Never seen such a poor, abject and utterly insulting display in Italy tonight. Rooney looked knackered and at times disinterested. Everton were second best all over the pitch the result could have been 6 or 7 nil. Absolute joke, we only had about 2 shots on target. Begs the question is there something wrong at the club? To spend £150m and put in a performance like that and especially after the dross that was served up against Spurs. questions need answering. Too many changes in my opinion but I don't think that is the sole problem. If it continues the fans will wonder is it the players. or is it the Manager. No heart. no fight. Everton were 2 yards slower throughout the game. I don't do i-pads and sheets with tactics on. I still believe that you go directly to the man with the ball, close him down or tackle him but at least don't allow the player time to pick a pass so easily. Not one Everton player was prepared to shout at his teamates tonight and there didn't seem to be any talking. No passion or determination or commitment. Feel sorry for our fans who travelled. Come on Blues.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2017 20:25:33
Golden Vision. Close the man down, do not give him space, double up in the tackle and space, tried and trusted method that has worked for decades. The top sides are not top sides just because they play pretty football, they get the basics right, starting at the back, then protection, then creation, then back of the net, start again. My Grandson hears every Sunday Morning on your toes, close the space, communicate. Simple stuff.

14 Sep 2017 19:59:52
I don't think anyone is suggesting Niasse is a world beater but he is no worse than the rest of them. All people are saying is give him a chance. What's to lose?

To be fair none of us have really seen him. did ok at hull. If RK us happy to play Williams and klaasen he should give niasse, henan, Kenny and lookman a crack imho. I think it will turn around but it's dire right now.

{Ed025's Note - dire is an understatement jcl..

Dare I say it but they look relegation material.

Have these players even met each other before? Never mind train together each day.
It's far too early to even talk about getting rid of Koeman just yet but did we even have a game plan this evening?
What an absolute train wreck of a performance, dreading Sunday now.

I got a load of abuse for daring to question some of our transfers this summer, this is a replay of Chelsea away last season . Oh for a striker and a composed midfielder who can tackle .

That's because some of the fans on here think koeman can do no wrong you wouldn't think he has had three transfer windows with this team . looks like another year without anything because I can't see anything promising in this team and why the hell did we let rooney back.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2017 18:57:49
Sorry but I've said it many times now I never wanted Ronald koeman but even I thought we would have played better than we hae done so far this season but tonight Ronald has just lost me completely his team selection again just makes no sense. I'm sorry he is just not the man for me.

Defenders and someone who can put the ball in the net is what we need.

It's all just speculation on who we are after in the papers. There's nothing that can be done until January and the papers have to fill their inches.

Manager get the big bucks for making the right calls, and in general, his purchases are good, even if some are taking time to adjust to the prem, but, in the absence of coalman, holgate or kenney, would, imho, have done a better job, and developed them as player, rather than a dubious free transfer from s/ hampton, could not hold his place there, and was released without a renewal offer, bench warmer at best.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

14 Sep 2017 17:10:44
Kenny is too young and would be too much pressure in this period of matches. Holgate offers nothing going forward. That's where we're struggling.

We have to be patient until we start gelling these new players into the team. Like last year it may not be until December/ November.
