Does anyone still think lukaku is still a 10 million pound championship player.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2015 23:09:03
I think some fans were slating him as he looked disinterested and couldn't score earlier on in the season. Yes he was 28m, which is a lot of money, but he is still only 21 years old. I rate him and think he will end up being world class

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - my problem ally, is that he himself thinks he is world class now!, he can become that, but at the moment he is van average joe..

15 Mar 2015 23:34:25
Bit harsh that Ed. He has had poor service for most of the season. Understand he needs to work on his technique but he's far better than average. He will be unplayable soon and as we'll see this season, a 20+ goal a season striker. And for one of those in the premier league it'll cost over £25 million on average.

16 Mar 2015 09:27:29
Is he not playing for a move now then

I know a bit pessimistic after a great win but I hope he isn't, we will see towards the end of the season

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 09:46:57
Even if he is playin for a move murf I think we won't let him go for less than 35 as we will want to make money not lose money but can't see anyone payin 35 just now

Proof that pundits and dare we venture Managers (staff) read these posts. We have been hammering on about Roberto needing to change tactics for literally weeks and how do we play the first time he is positive, 3-0 against 10 men but still positive. All 3 on Motd 2 mentioned the fact that Brendan changed tactics as soon as he recognised it needed it and all 3 questioned why it had taken Roberto this long. Mind you even in his interview he still did not admit he had changed system or tactics. Lukaku showed against Kiev that he is an animal when running at defences and now with another like Kone to share the load and pressure he is immense and dare I say it even Kone looks good. let's all pray to whatever God is our fancy that Roberto shows common sense at last and doesn't let his ego get in the way of doing the right thing. And yes I still believe he is not the man for us.

The three teams that'll get relegated are Leicester, QPR and Sunderland on current form. If any of those 3 escape itll be at the cost of Hull

We will be ok but unless we win EL it'll be taxi for Bobby. If we win I can't see bill not giving him a chance in CL imo

Agree3 Disagree1

16 Mar 2015 09:36:46
I remember moyes's second season for us.nearly got relegated and had no Europe to play in. He had another 9 seasons with us, so to say Bobby will be gone if he don't win EL, is a bad shout in my eyes.not being relegated and winning EL would be a successful season to me.

Agree2 Disagree2

16 Mar 2015 10:27:21
The word relegation should never have been associated with Everton this season so to say avoiding relegation would be a success is just not acceptable. We should be challenging for European places and also in domestic cup competitions with the squad we have am sorry but the fact we haven't I see this season as far from being successful regardless of if we win europa which I can't see happening in all honesty. I know its about opinions this site but avoiding relegation should never be classed as an achievement.

Well done blues on a convincing win.
Hoping for a few who went to give better 'picture' of what improvements to play or tactics they saw before I lavish praise!

For me we were a threat down the flanks for a change, Lennon was brilliant, Baines back to his best, Gibson is better than Barry, rom had help from kone. and we mixed it up a bit, going long when it needed it. Best I have see. Us play for a while and I have to agree with degsy we are a better team with ossie in it

16 Mar 2015 01:21:17
Don't disagree with much of they above; buy why did we have to wait until we were 3 points above the relegation zone, for that stubborn spanish fool to get it, god knows, everyone, from supporter, to the pundits, have been telling the man that his approch was simply not working!

Been obvious to me mate for ages. I would have gone on about it but would have got on peoples nerves.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed025's Note - i did,nt know you liked ossie degs, why did you not say something before mate.. :)

16 Mar 2015 17:26:52
Well Ed025, I don't like to be too opinionated. But will add. .the proof is in the pudding. Ossie just back=winning again.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i like the guy degs, but lets get real here...he is not messi or ronaldo like you make out, he is a good squad member, and im not trying to do the guy down here, the difference yesterday was the tempo and fight in the play and yes ossie was part of that, all as im saying mate is that he does give us a different option and does link the play well but putting him on a pedestal can leave you open to stick from certain quarters fella..

16 Mar 2015 19:56:11
Ed025 are you Swan in disguise? I have never made out he is Messi or anyone else. I just said exactly what you have. he give a different option to the other defensive midfielders. And he links play well. I have also admitted he is easily knocked off the ball at times. All I do is quote stats that don't lie. I only repeat it because people argue all sorts of things but stats are stats. I think I have to drop it now though. So if I get tempted to do another, please block it!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i just dont want you to set yourself up for a fall degs, he is a decent player but it sometimes comes across that without him we are crap thats all mate..

15 Mar 2015 19:28:14
Going back to my previous comment, Kone upfront with lukaku is a must. Kone allows rom to drop deep and collect the ball as he likes doing but still giving us a focal point go our attack. Kone might of scored two but he will only get sharper the more he plays.
Thought the tempo was a lot better and baines, Osman have benefited from a break.
Im so, so happy we won and showed passion.
Roll on kiev!!

Howard-7-good saves, coleman-6-over-does it, alcaraz-8-slate me all you want he was brilliant today, bringing it out, accurate long passes, fought for it and did some stunning tackles, jagielka-8-less active than alcaraz but just as solid, baines-6-did nothing of note but a good tackle, gibson-7.5-excellent passes and good feet, mccarthy-7.5-he scored! Yay! Great today. Lennon-8-worked so so hard and put in lots of tackles, had some great ideas too, won us the penalty, was boss tbf. Osman-7-did his bit tracking back and kept the ball well but can he stop thinking he's pirlo and doing all outside the foot passes that just go straight out of play. Kone-6-tried but should of scored, still, occupied the defense and held it up when he needed, few wrong decisions. Lukaku-7-up for it today, fought well and ran, good pen too. Well done martinez, there I said it, he changed it around and it worked, well done. I still think we will go down but TODAY was good.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

15 Mar 2015 20:07:12
As I said not a witch hunt but I am convinced it was not Martinez that changed the tactics, he did change the personnel and seeing how Baines played, I still believe I was right to say Martinez just puts his favourites in when fit irrespective of form. The way they played today was reminiscent of the first two thirds of last season, that is long passes and generally playing forward instead of side to side and back. Do not forget it was only once Martinez methods had time to sink in that we then started to lose and play crab football the way we have done most of this season. I firmly believe that it is the players that have finally said look enough is enough let us play how we know we can.

16 Mar 2015 07:14:19
I wondered where you had been Swan. Where are your Ossie comments now? I argued that when he came back we would pick up again. Look at other posts on here and see that other people are seeing it now. Back for two games. won 2 games. Prior to that out 11 games . .won 1 of them. Before that. .of the 6 games we had won. .he featured in 5. In other words. . all season we have won 2 games without him playing. I will repeat that. . 2 games without him. All season. Argue all you want and I will continue pointing out the bleeding obvious that you cannot see because your bi-focal glasses have misted up mate.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed025's Note - dont be too smug degs...we won because the tactics changed not the personnel mate..

16 Mar 2015 08:24:14
Id also like to point out in the last 2 games antolin alcaraz played too, so if you want to go down that road we can. I've looked at what other people have said, on evertom sites people saying he did nothing but its good to have him back. Yet to see a post from anyone else saying we only win games because of osman. You said we won on thursday just because of osman, why? Because he won a pen? Ah okay mate, lukaku got goal and assist, lennon won pen but I guess osman still won us the game? Or was it alcaraz? Oh no, the fact we won our last 2 with alcaraz back is nothing but coincidence, but the fact we won 2 games with osman back, illuminati confirmed.

Agree3 Disagree0

16 Mar 2015 17:35:36
Swan you attribute a lot of comments to me that are just lies (as you would say about my comments) What I actually have said is that we win games with Ossie. I do NOT say it is all down to Ossie. But I do think Besic, Barry and McCarthy are all so defensively minded that when RM plays 2 or more of them, we do not have much of an attacking threat. It is bleeding obvious to me. McCarthy scored his 1 goal of the season yesterday. I don't think Besic or Barry have scored yet have they? Have any of the 3 had an assist? I would guess Osman has missed over half the season yet has had a few assists and scored a couple. .but most importantly, we look like we have an attacking threat. With the 3 I mentioned, we have tonnes of possession every game and average about 3 shots at goal. Osman links other players together. That is what I have said all season. Not the lies you say I said. Anyway, you challenged me earlier saying words to the effect of "so we will start winning when Osman returns?". .my answer to that was and still is "yes". Look at the results mate and swallow it.

As well as he played today Degs, to suggest we won just because he was in the team is stretching it a bit. You also need to look at the balance of the team, one def midfielder and two up front (for a change) gave us this better balance. If anyone is to be singled out then Lennon had a great game. Looked lively, ran at his man and was involved in most things that were good. Osman played ok but the win was not down to him entirely was it? Let's hope that we use this formation in the remaining home games, we looked more threatening from the first minute.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 20:07:11
Obviously weren't at the game degsy because other than go backwards or sideways or give the ball away and needless freekicks what did your love child contribute today? Thought Lennon had a great game, looked good going forward and also tracked back alot, also dare I say it Alcaraz looked comfortable after a nervy start. Still don't get why Garbutt was dropped clearly a case of the favourite players start rather than the form players. Only gripe about today was when they went down to 10 we sat back and at times we looked like we had 10 men with the space we were giving them.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Mar 2015 20:26:03
Barry was okay for us last season but this season he actually slows our play up and is responsible for needless free kicks in dangerous positions. Of course the bloke has been and still is a good player, but it must be obvious to Roberto after today that not only should we play players in form but we should get the ball forward quickly and not allow the opposition to press us back in our own half. Today showed hopefully that he can learn and that there is such a thing as over passing.

Just seen the team for today.

Osman is not a winger. atsu should be played.
alcaraz should be dropped for stones. Alcaraz is aging and short of game time plus he playet on Thursday. So he will be knackered and even slower. on the plus side, Kone / lukaku upfront and no Barry :)

.I'll tell you what folks, I reckon R Ms immediate future rests on the next 7-10 days. with now only 3 points now separating us from the relegation zone we have to get 3 points today & away at QPR next weekend. if we don't & get knocked out of the Europa next Thursday night in Kiev (which is quite possible) - I think it would be safe to assume that the Fraud will be dismissed?!?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

15 Mar 2015 15:16:46
Look at the side for today, why does he feel the need to constantly tinker. That second half side the other night finally started playing and was a winning side. Garbutt has done well and yet as soon as Baines is fit back in he comes when for me he is out of form. It is as if Martinez is holding two fingers up to the faithful.

Ive seen all over twitter and other forums posts from fans and players saying Kiev is the turnin point, and we should be excited for the rest of the season.

Im far from a pessimist, but even I feel that this is a pre mature reaction. Remember when we beat Wolfsburg, and said the same. But it didn't happen. Exactly.

The only way I see us winning today, is by scrapping everything RM says, and playing our own way. BUT that won't happen. And Howard will start. And we will concede a howler.

But i'm not a pessimist.

Anyways, as usual going to back the team but not the manager. COYB!!

Haven't been on here as much as I should have been this season for a number of reasons, but I had to say that this next week is now massive for Everton FC.
1. Newcastle Utd at home this afternoon has become a must win after Burnley's shock win against Citeh. We're currently only 3 points off 17th. I think we will win although it'll be tight. 2-1 to Everton.
2. Kiev away Thursday night. It would have been nice to have had more than a one goal cushion after that second half display and their away goal could prove crucial. But I think we'll go through, just. 0-0 on the night.
3. QPR away next Sunday. On paper this should be the easiest fixture, but after a 3000 mile journey back from the Ukraine we will come unstuck. 2-0 defeat to the poorest club in the division.
I might be wrong but I can see our domestic fate going to the wire in May irrespective of how far we go in Europe.

Very nervous now for the newcastle game. No result here and a trip to qpr after ukraine is not going to be easy. See there are a few posts defending martinez on here. Just wondered when peoples first martinez out moments were. Mine was hull away. Wish we had a few of the dogs of war knocking around the club at the moment.

That is the thing about Martinez despite his managerial stats to the contrary nothing seems to stick, he is better than teflon tony. Even the Bookies odds on his removal are pretty substantial just about 16 to 1 across the board. Can anyone point to a single article anywhere blaming RM for Wigans demise for instance, it is all a bit bizarre.
