No more debate. Baines has eloquently and self performed 2 artisan displays of high polish. He is the No. 1 left Full Back for England. Will he stay with us? I don't know but I hope he does. However, of this I do see - his sale value has just rocketed. GBP 13M - err, GBP 23M+ I think.

ed how come this page doesn't have a poll page like some of the other sites, I would like to start one if possible?

Mike-Ox Long {Ed001's Note - I will get that set up Mike, but it is purely because Ed025 is so old he struggles to cope with change. Though he is learning to change his colostomy bag regularly now.}

Gibson carried off after 35 mins of Ireland game, came down heaven on his right knee, looks like a lengthy lay off, Bobby M in the stands looked concerned too!

Kurajan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good job we signed McCarthy and Barry or we'd be buggered
As for Gibson I'd get rid ASAP as he's the perennial sick note and will never give us more than 15-20 games per season. Good, effective player on his day and can make a good, positive contribution to the way we play but simply can't be relied upon.

All this talk of the Red Bull takeover is just wild speculation at the moment, but it is nice to have something to get stuck into during the international break. If, and its a big IF, it was to happen, I for one would take it for two reasons.

Firstly, any investor who would come in with the kind of money and objectives as a company such as red bull, wouldn't do so without there being some changes to the current status quo. It wouldn't be a toy for them like it is for some of the foreign owners, their goal would to be a European super power. For that we'd need a new state of the art stadium, if they wanted to call it the Red Bull stadium and pump in the kind of sponsorship cash we could only dream of, the king of cash that would allow us to buy the best players in the world then so be it. I cannot see why they would need to change the colour of the kit, Most of the their cars are coloured blue. It will be hard to take if they tried to fit the brand name Red Bull into the team name, but I would have to accept it if that was the cost of progress.

Secondly - Red Bull is a product and it won't be around forever, not like Everton Football Club. Every product has a life cycle and Red Bull is no different, who knows what there advertising strategy will be in 10 - 15 years. When the day comes and they take a different strategy and decide to sell us on, we'll be one of Europe's top teams and be left with a top stadium.

With the recent talk of a new European super league doing the rounds again in the last couple of weeks, I don't think we can afford to fall behind any further than we already are, if we do, we will never get back to the top table of European football, no matter who takes us over, it will be closed shop by then, and who would want to invest in a club who can't join the party.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh my my, how are people not understanding this? Everton will cease to exist if red bull take over. Did they have to change Salzburg's kit, or the NY red bulls? No, but they did, their arrogance knows no bounds, their desire for marketing domination is all that matters to them, NOTHING else matters, history, managers, players, fans, they're all commodities who don't matter, who can be treated like dirt.
Is rather Robert Mugabe or the Yorkshire ripper took over ahead of red bull.
What would be interesting would be a poll of who would accept a red bull takeover. I have a feeling our younger fans who've not seen us win a trophy would be willing to sell their soul, the elder fans in the 30s and upwards maybe not so willing, who knows, but I do know red bull would use us as a marketing vehicle, a cash cow and nothing more.
To hell with the fans wishes, they'd do as they please without care in the world as long as they make money and promote THEIR brand, not Everton's.

Agree0 Disagree0

Salzsburg and new york redbulls hardly clubs with massive fan bases, I doubt it will be as easy converting premier league club as easy as it took with them, a club can't function without fans

Agree0 Disagree0

(Oh My My) the man with name!

Man City and Chelsea are doing okay with new owners, why not us?

Andy The Chef. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea don't have a new owner. They have one of the longest serving owners in the EPL.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you rather accept some changes that will help push us into contention for honours, or watch yet another team overtake us?

Football is changing - do we want to be left behind? Everton have always been proud to be an innovator, why are some fans so eager to hold us back?

Brighton Toffee

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not us? If you actually read the post and have seen what they've done to other clubs you'd understand my skepticism. Everton would cease to exist.
Or maybe you're happy to sell your soul for a piece of silver? I'm sorry but I'm not, am I not entitled to feel that way?

Ed 25, or any other ed out of 10 how serious do you think redbull's intrest in Everton is or do you think they will go for West ham giving there London base and new stadium on the way. {Ed013's Note - They would be silly not to consider Everton and if the rumours are true about buying an English Club I can't see why Everton wouldn't be high on the list. Ed 25 will have a better view on this, I just feel that it is all smoke with no fire}

If this Red Bull takeover was ever to happen. (Think West Ham are probably favourites purely on location and having a ready to go stadium) what sacrifices are people making to make in order for investment to be forthcoming.

In an ideal world I think most of us would like a mega rich owner to come in and not mess around with the structure at all, in reality though if your pumping millions/billions into a venture your going to want to make changes.

personally i'm getting pretty fed up of getting so close but just not having that final financial push to be challenging so I'm pretty much willing to accept, ground name changes, team name changes as long as Everton is still involved somehow, even at a push kit changes (although ideally not Red) as these can all be changed back if the venture is not successful. Before everyone has a go, I don't want Red. No Way, however in the grand scheme of things if it was a deal breaker for investment, could I put up with it? Probably. If we were successful it would make it much easier. (Any Cardiff ed's like to jump in with the general feeling regarding your kit change, now that your in the premier league?)

I personally think Red Bull would be great for us as looking at other teams they have sponsored, even if they haven't been overly succesful they haven't jettisoned them.

As ever just my opinion interested to see what everyone thinks.

More importantly for me is to keep the playing/coaching/scouting set up the same as we have been so close with the current set up {Ed001's Note - Cardiff fans, judging by the ones I know and the staff at the club I know, are still very split. Different situation though, while Cardiff never started out in red, like Everton did initially, their main rivals now do not play in it either. So there is no stigma attached to changing to the colour of their main rival, like there would be for Everton (though I doubt very much Red Bull would change the kit colour to red anyway). Also Cardiff fans are upset about the change in badge that was forced on them, even though it is not their original badge either and has been changed fairly recently to encompass bluebirds, which have no real connection with either club or city! It is a big change though, not helped by Vincent Tan still being viewed with distrust by a large part of the following. Success has begun to swing the support in his favour though, give it five years of doing well and I would expect the support to fade for blue in Cardiff. To the degree of being unnoticed by most outside of the area.}

i think if red bull was to buy us, it would be a fantastic thing, we would get a new stadium that would probably be called the red bull arena or somethin like that.we would still be called everton and we will have there logo all over it.and the kit would still be blue and white, and with the money they would put into the club would get us champions league.and kenwright is a blue no matter what some of us think I realy don't think he would do anythink to destroy are history.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe you should take a history listen, or take a tour of the internet and do some research, seriously.
And what does Kenwright have to do with keeping our identity. He'd be out the door and wouldn't have a say in the matter.
Trouble is, as Sven mentioned it's not just Bill's decision. His puppet masters Green and Earl will smell the money and run. Say what you want about Bill, I'm not his biggest fan, but he wouldn't want our club revamped from top to bottom.

To Ed 001

Just want to say that I am loving the latest ads mate, the factual ones (15 most?), never learnt so much in my life.

Like going back to school but in a good sort of way. Even got the kids looking at them now {Ed001's Note - glad they are better than the usual ads we get offered. I haven't even got round to looking at them, we turned the adverts over to an agency to try and start moving away from Adsense. The agency is only a small company and they seem very good so far, even getting the video ads to change from just showing football news to altering the tags for specific teams. So they are due the praise, rather than myself.}

Everyone worrying if we get taken over over by red bull and changing the kit to red it won't happen if you look at there cars in formula one the cans of red bull they are blue and silver with a red bull they might sponsor us instead of Chang change the stadium name instead of pints it will be vodka red bull and and red bull instead of coke everything will be fine if bill stays as chairman if we get takenover

With all the talk of Red Bull looking to invest in a Premier League Club, it has got mw thinking on how the could market themselves without ripping the heart ans soul out of the club.
I for one would welcome their investment they have a good track record in sport, all be it they tend to want their brand name linked to the club name.

Say for instance they wanted to add their name in to the title of the club, they may wish to call the club,
Red Bull Everton
Everton Red Bull

Or they could leave it alone and promote through more traditional methods such as shirt sponsorship, stadium naming, billboards, marketing on their cans.

The product was developed off the back of a Thai recipe and changed. Red Bull are based in Austria.

They have developed many products and have used their name on many computer games and also own a record label.
If they were to build a new stadium or revamp Goodison, names that could be used maybe;
The Red Bull Peoples Stadium

Historically our nickname is the Toffees, we are also called the Blues.
They may wish to rebrand us, so what could we be called?
Called we be called Red Bull Everton.
Red is a colour. Many teams wear as a football shirt, the Mancs, The reds, The Gooners.
I'm not saying that we should buy in, but could it be a price we are willing to pay to incorporate the name to have their money. I suppose the point i'm trying to get across is that they are a powerful brand worth billions. Although they use Red Bulls in their logo, they predominantely use an electric blue to advertise, blue and silver cans. Take a look at their can called Red Bull Blue edition.

Personally the word red to me is just a colour, redbull is a brand. Everton is the peoples club, it has heart, it has soul, it has loyal support worldwide, it is more than a colour, we are also a brand in itself who are based in a city. The city of Liverpool, although we prefer Merseyside. So merging two great brands Is that a bad thing?
The question I pose is if we are Everton and they are Red Bull why would they want to rip the heart out of the club. The supporters are the club, whether they are from Merseyside, Thailand or elsewhere. Without us there is no brand or club.
I say look at their brand name and not the colour.

Everton Blue Bulls
Everton Lightening
Toffees
Blue lightening

Whether there is truth in the rumours or not, we should be open minded to see what is on the table. Football in the premier league is no longer British or, European. It is worldwide. We have supporters worldwide.

I hope I haven't bored u all, just thought i'd try to put a little perspective into the melting pot.
Other club owners use their club to market their own products i.e. ethiad, emirates etc.
So do we go down fighting saying we are Everton you can't have us or do we say yes. we like redbull come buy us and you can add your name to ours and name a stadium to.

The club will still be known as Everton to me, as long as the true fans are behind the club because Everton will never die no matter what league we are in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The difference with red bull as opposed to Chang and our other sponsors is that Chang et al want to be associated with us, our brand, Everton.
Red Bull want to take over the brand that is Everton so that it becomes Red Bull, not Everton, as they have shown with other clubs, teams they have taken over.
Big difference

Enjoyed that Aw, passionate post mate.

Dont know yet were my own mind is at mate, could I or couldn't I do the red bit, if they built us a stadium and showered 30 million pound players upon us would I sell myself

Probably yes mate because I only want what we all want and that is a friggin trophy

Seriously though at present my heart is winning by saying no way Pedro would I like us to be called EFC Red Bulls but money talks and we all know how money can turn even the most loyal, passionate person

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Degsy.
Its gut wrenching isn't it.

I am sure their marketing guru's would work out how passionate our fans are. Just look at the outcry over the badge.

European Football is almost bordering on becoming franchised. Just look what happened in American Football.

Premier League Teams are now global business and have become cash cows.
When you think of the money sides have spent they are not light years away from ourselves.

Yes we are Everton, but its not every day businesses like Red Bull come knocking. Further to this the likes of Nike would clearly be interested because of the potential increased fan base.

Would West Ham fans like to be called The Red Bull Hammers or West Ham Red Bulls.
Yes they are a London side, but being biased we already have a decent team, Up and coming manager and a loyal fan base. Whether they see potential in Everton is another matter.

Yes it is early days and this is one that will clearly pull on the heart strings, so let's keep cool and watch this space.

Have you heard any more Eds from your sources whether meetings have taken place with Red Bull representatives and our chairman? {Ed025's Note - only what i posted last night AW, but if red bull were to take over, i believe bobby would be replaced by ralf rangnick, who is desperate to manage in the prem, and is their top guy..but thats my personal opinion..

I have no info re red bull takeover. However what needs to be made very clear is that Kenwright is the chairman. He is not the sole decision maker on takeovers. He is not even the final decision maker. This will come down to the board. Sadly I don't feel their care is our soul as a club it is purely getting the profit on their investments that were promised to them. If the right financial offer is made we will be sold regardless of who does it. Kenwright and the board are not looking to sell but a good offer could see a change.
