Now then. I got a little bit of stick for suggesting some blues would be unhappy having Liverpool's 'anthem' played before the game on Monday night. It looks like some people agreed with me.

BTW am I also allowed to say they were awful again today and are going down?

Too soon?

I admit I gave you stick Nostra, apologies mate as you were right fella

Degsycool

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes nostra you were right some "fans" would be unhappy but as the gesture would be meant as a sign of respect to the familys of the 96 who lets not forget would also have blues as part of their family and is not a sign of footballing support for LFC I think its a bit childish of those who cant see the gesture for what it would stand for Im not from Liverpool in fact I'm from Rotherham in South Yorkshire and am feeling ashamed of what went on here by our police force. SYP you bring shame to us all !!

ToffeeAL {Ed025's Note - myself al..would hope it is not played..not out of disrespect, as i have always been an avid supporter of the fight for justice, but out of concern that some blues fans may tarnish our image by booing or heckling their anthem...another form of support, maybe a minutes silence, or clapping mat be appropriate..this is just my view mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

"Abide with me" is more appropriate as it was an FA cup semifinal. YNWA is a show tune doesnt fit right.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have given the families of the 96 nothing but respect since 1989 but i don't want "The Devils Anthem" played at Goodison Park and as i said in an earlier post, i would go along with absolutely anything else but that.
Ste F 1878

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't see the point in playing anything. Why must we do that for them to know that they never walk alone? As a club, we can't have been more supportive over the years. Would be OTT. Minutes applause for the fact that we finally know what's gone on, that would be a sign of solidarity. Applauding the fact we now have some truth. But playing that filthy anthem in our own back yard, no chance. Let Celtic do that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have always hated the Gerry Marsden dirge, but it is only a song after all. It is worth it to show some solidarity. because they have been badly wronged. Many of my best mates and some in-laws are Kopites and I can't fault them as people. This would just show them that we can rise above petty squabbles and rivalry and that we understand their anguish.

Bluewal.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm the one who called it a filthy anthem. Reading it made me cringe, it's not that, and I didn't realise every other club played it too. I therefore go back on what I said and apologise. But because I cowardly don't leave a name I guess it doesn't really matter.

If we sell Fellaini 30m tag on his head 4 years left contracted to Everton, ive came up with a few players that we could buy please comment

Ever Banega - 10-13m - nearly joined before

migel veloso - 10m - would welcome the prem scores goals

john obi mikel 8-9m good holding player been revived since essien got injured

james milner 9-10m got a goal in him english can play central and on the wing

if we lost felli just one of those to peplace him but benega and velso would be my 1st choice

Mvila,Javi Martinez,Ganso,Sahin?,Isco. Rob Walker

Agree0 Disagree0

Javi Martinez and Ganso have both just moved

Agree0 Disagree0

E.B: would like, probs won't get. M.V: just moved to Kiev. J.OM now first choice at Chelsea, neither want or would get. J.M: would love, could get. if we lost Fellaini my first signing would be Lewis Holtby. As for a like for like replacement, not sure I know of too many 6'4, built like a brick s**t house, central defensive / attacking mids who can dribble, pass, head and bounce the ball up and down on chest whilst holding off everyone. He may be a tough one to replace actually

To everton football club: we may have our differences, our banter sometimes even fall out but in our darkest hour when we needed you most you where there for us. When we were on our knees you put your hand on our shoulder and helped us up. When the authorities and media attacked us you stood by our side and fought our corner. When we where at our lowest you put footballing rivalry aside and became one footballing community, one city and one voice. Most of all when we where going through the worst time in our history you truly made sure we never walked alone! Nil satis nisi optimum JFT96 YNWA

Really moving & heartfelt post, Scousekew. As you so rightly say, when people attack us we all stand together, regardless of which team we follow.

Spot on Scousekew.
Two teams but One city that sticks together.

We always stand together as a city. Football rivalry doesn't matter when it comes to the 96 lives lost.

That's a real post. I would imagine you were one of the crowd clapping to Z Cars with Rhys' family at Anfield. I totally appreciate your sentiment and am fully convinced that you would help us too when it's our time in need.

Nice post mate !!

Fair brought a tear to my eye. The spring of 1989 was horrible for everyone connected with football on Merseyside but as you say we put our differences aside and got through it together.
Thanks for the kind words and may the families of the 96 get everything they crave for.

What a truely moving post. we may have our differences and take the mick out of each other (neither of us would have it any other way), but when it matters, on the most important issue, we stand tall and stand proud together as one, whether red or blue we'll never ever forget

Gutted Gibson is out, he really does make us tick. Everyone slating Neville because he may be the one that comes in at centre mid but for me he can certainly do a job for the 2 or 3 games Gibson will miss, I really like Fellaini upfront supporting Jelavic so I would hope Moyes keeps Fellaini there and plays Neville holding midfield with Osman, gives Osman more freedom to show his under rated skill of finding players in and around the box and Neville being so defensive will allow Baines, Pienaar and whoever is on the right (Naismith/Mirallas) to support Jelavic, Fellaini and Osman in the attacking third just like we did against Man United on the 1st game of the season.
Moyes knows what he's doing lads! COYB!
