It's time to be positive blues IMO I think it was the right time for moyes to go he had took us as far as his style of play could no more cautious football or negative substitutions or forgetting how to get the best out of a cf it's time for a new era at Everton don't listen to ure red rubbish mates with there relegated
Manager buying relegated players jibes they no a good manager they were turned down buy one before giving Brenda the job Rm is a young fresh ma
Nager with a attacking brand of football
He has already been impressive in the transfer market Kone is a decent back up striker McCarthy plays a high energy
Pressing game he covers every inch of the pitch alongside Barry it will be osman under threat when Gibson comes back Robles is a highly rated keeper who again provides quality back
Up Alcaraz also Barry is a great addition
As his experience will be vital to the squad then to prize two of the hottest talents in football to Goodson is a master stroke every young player at the club will have just been given a kick up the ass because they will see the standard of these two and will now no what it takes the best thing so far about Rm is how from the off he has found a role for Barclay he has shown massive trust in him and the boys confidence has soared and so has his game if moyes was still here he would be playing heightinga and Barclay would still be in the reserves once Lakaku gets going he will score goals for fun in this
Team I would not give him back if you offered me Eto an Torres

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to agree RM has shown that if a player is good enough than he is old enough. On yesterdays performance it also looks like Barry is going to be an excellent signing. I was also impressed with Naismiths performance, I think that he really put pressure on Peanuts and to be honest I love the fact that there is real competition in midfield and up front. COYB

Maybe with all these wide options Pienaar might be used more in the middle, either playing as part of a midfield 3 or where Barkley was playing on sat. Would be stupid to put too much pressure on Barkley, he won't be epic every game. Pienaar is a payer who can play in that position and cause problems with his flair and trickery.

To sell barclay in jan or the summer would be bad buisness. Besides turning the supporters against kenwright what would we get even at 30 mill he would be cheap give him 2 more seasons and he will be worth a 100 mill he is the next bale. keep him at any price but if he went for a 100 mill it could improve the club mabey even give us a new ground.thgfest

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well, quite simply, £100m is hopeful thinking, even if he does smash the world in terms of quality.

The only reason Bale went for £85.3m is because their chairman is Daniel Levy. A to**er to buy from, but does the absolute best for the club he works for, which deserves respect.

Ask yourself this: would BK or most other chairmen say they want £85m or would they jiz in their pants at being offered anything near £50m? The answer is the latter (although not literally in the pants reference).

Keith EFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself with Barkley there mate, he's had a few good games let's wait and see how he develops and grows before we start valuing him at sily money.

Agree0 Disagree0

What I was trying to say is that we should be able to keep our best young players at least till they reach their true potential and their highest value. Barklay looks like he will be as good as bale to me so a 100 mill would not be out of the question in a couple of seasons but that is just an opinion.thgfest

Agree0 Disagree0

It's sad that we are in a position were we have to even think about selling our best young talent.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bale went for 100m because Madrid are people no-ones going to pay that for Barkley but we should put the price at 150m if we have to name one just to put people off

How Jelavic headered that to Naismith I will never know. I'd given it up in my mind when I saw how deep the cross was. Unbelievable assist. Worked tirelessly but ultimately not a goal threat.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed - I thought it had gone out from jelavics head so turned away to mutter something about useless Osman cross only to then here the whole crowd go ape - and it was in the net!

Just wondering if there are any G Barry haters left or have there opinions changed? Class footballer, you don't get 53 England caps otherwise

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wow I'm actually surprised to see aviturs on this page. I was beginning to think he was a secret united fan the amount of time he spends on our page. Just came on to say thanks for taking points of chelsea for us, and for keeping Barkley warm while we put together a bid for him. :-) {Ed025's Note - dont thank us mate...you lot are not in contention for the league!..top 6 if you get lucky, we should be thanking you, for taking dithering dave off us, and as for ross..he may go one day, but it will be to a club who are on the up...which rules your lot out im afraid..

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't take much to play for England, Emile Heskey got 63 caps! Anyway, although he had a fantastic debut I am still undecided on him. Only time will tell if he was a good signing.

BitterBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's widely acknowledged Ross Barkley despised Mr Moyes, ergo I can't see him following him to Man Utd, myself.
As for taking points of chelski, I can't see Utd finishing within 15 points of them this season, or any other season whilst Mr Moyes is manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear oh dear ed025, a little bit bitter are we? So are you glad that your new manager is a man who got his team relegated last year, as opposed to a manager who kept you in contention for the top ten whilst hardly spending a penny. Anyway i'd rather be struggling for the top 6 than fighting at the other end of the table, which I'm sure is what will happen once this "unbeaten run" of yours comes to an end. {Ed025's Note - you wish my friend...SAF jumped ship at the right time, the good ship united is sailing through some rough times i fear, and i for 1 cant wait for it to hit the rocks.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest Ed, I really don't think Ross will ever leave Everton. He seems to me to have his head firmly screwed on, and is cut from the same cloth as Le Tissier, Gerrard and Baines. Loyal to their club. Couldn't agree more with you though Ed about United being on the slide, it's going to be fun to watch though. I seriously think they'll finish about 5th this season. Well, I hope they do anyway.

BitterBlue

BitterBlue {Ed025's Note - i hope a bit lower bitter.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

So much for freedom of speech eh ed025? You can have your say but you won't post my retort? Don't worry I won't expect this to get posted, and I won't bother coming back on your site, I only came on for a bit of banter but clearly that is banned on this site. Have a good season. {Ed025's Note - i never posted your retort, as it was childish and lacking meaning, please post again..i beg of you!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have respect for Emile Heskey. Like Barry, had he played for us I'm sure we would have appreciated what he did on a footy pitch. I know Michael Owen certainly did.

Agree0 Disagree0

First Reply. Keep dreaming son, I know it is all you have left now as reality begins to bite. But don't worry, dithering Dave will keep you in the Division.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd fans are the biggest deluded reflected glory hunters in the world - most have sad lives but, hey, they support 'united'. so they are special people after all! -

Agree0 Disagree0

LMAO! Typical United fan, first decision goes against them and they take the ball and go home.

Agree0 Disagree0

Utd fans having a pop? what's wrong, bored of talking about your stellar transfer window? Thanks for the 27.5 for Fellaini. Considering you bid 28 for both he and Baines I'd say we stitched you right up. don't worry though, your team which will consist of Moyes type players like Cleverly, Anderson, Wellbeck and Young will no doubt bring you the champions league glory you crave. Forget a useless creative player like Kagawa. It's not like he was instrumental in dortmunds rise or anything. Maybe we will get Hernandez on the cheap in Jan. Moyes doesn't really like poachers who score pretty much every game they play in. He likes his strikers to run tirelessly down touch lines and deliver crosses to no one because his 451 means 10 men are still behind the ball.

Still haven't come down from yesterdays result. Have to admit I was more than a Bit sceptical about Barry, but I am more than Happy to eat a very Large slice of humble pie, everything He Did was Top quality, His Link up and positional play was excellent, all round Just a class performance eskpecially considering It was His Debt for the blues, with lukaku, mcarthy and the best of deufelou this could be a great season for us
COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must agree with you.enjoyed the match yesterday and even when we were under the cosh we kept our heads.Barry is going to be a big player for us. He definitely helps bring calmness to the midfield and his experience will also give our defence a lift knowing he is in front of them. I still think we could have a magical season . onwards and upwards. COYB

I got some flack last week for suggesting Barkley be tried as centre forward. I said it because of his strength, control and ability to shield the ball. Did anyone notice that when Mirallas went off, Barkley went up to the centre forward position and turned David Luiz a treat. I still think that Jelly is out of form (although improving) and young Barkley is worth a go there.
Degsypulford

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No that would be the same as saying throw Lampard up front just because he's a threat in front of goal, you wouldn't do it, he creates havoc as an attacking midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2013 16:06:57
He's never a striker best position behind striker

Agree0 Disagree0

My point is still being missed. Barkley has all the attributes needed. Lampard is too lightweight and although box to box, is no good with his back to a defender and the ball played to feet. Barkley did the Brazilian center half a treat. One of the most accomplished defenders in the world. Barkley may still prove a great midfielder. However, we are in desperate need of a great center forward and have been for years now. Jelly looked great when he first arrived but then lost the plot. It was a great header back to naismith, but he did bugger all else in the game. He can't hold play up to bring others into it. Barkley can.

Good result yesterday, what I liked was the way we didn't sit back in the second half trying to protect a 1 nil lead we kept going forward looking for another goal. The substitutions were positive ones not negative. After 11 years under Moyes we've got to give Martinez time to put his own stamp on things, which it looks like he's starting to do slowly but surely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Got to agree with you Jimmy. My only concern when we appointed Robbie was that we may become a little bit too "gung ho." But yesterday although we did go looking to score more and where a threat to them throughout, it was done in the right way.

We were strong in defence looking to hit them hard on the counter, and the lads looked comfortable doing it. I really enjoyed watching the game yesterday and now we have a stronger midfield and more options up top I think the best is yet to come!

Gday Guys, what a performance by the Toffees yesterday. Does it look like we are playing with more flair because even when we went 1 up, normally with Moyes we would have sat back and tried to defend for the rest of the game but yesterday we tried to score a second even though Chelsea hammered our goals. I thought we defended brilliantly, however Jelavic as hard as he tried he struggled badly, but he did set up Naismith so that was good. His confidence is shot. What we need is to continue with what we have and beat the Hammers next start.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought after the goal we looked the team more likely to score, their defenders stayed on the backfoot because of the way we were breaking on them.
Noticeable how we left Mirallas up top when defending set pieces and he really put a shift in.
I thought the defence did well particularly after Howard's moment they recovered their composure.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not ready to eat humble pie just yet vis a vie opinion of Martinez. Barry was tremendous, his timing and distribution was spot on (hope this does not drive his value up). If we get the same out of Lukaku and McArthy, I will be well made up. What Martinez saw yesterday was the lads taking a bit of his philosophy and marrying it with Everton grit, I hope he encourages it from now on, on the practice ground. {Ed025's Note - barry is out of contract at the end of this season mudmud, so no fee will be involved..

Sorry if somebody's asked this before, but can anyone tell me why Kone was not in the squad yesterday? I didn't read about any injury, so is it just lack of form?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Martinez mentioned Kone had a knock on his knee, reason for him being out

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez said on sly sports prior to match that he was injured but don't think he gave any specifics about the injury

Thought that was a good performance yesterday, without a doubt Barry was MoM. If Stevie me had made the challenge on Eto we'd have been hearing about it for months. Ossie didn't have that bad a game, gave the ball away a few times, but so did Barkley. Naismith had his best game since he's been here, I alo thought once Miralles went down the middle Chelsea centre backs did not look comfortable. Also was so pleased we didn't sit back for the whole of the second half. Chelsea played well yesterday, and gave us quite a few problems, but on the whole we dealt with them.
l watched the game on telly and also watched the Burnley - Blackburn game earlier on. Can I ask how Luiz stayed on the pitch when the Burnley defender was straight red for the same offence.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Easy answer to that Gosport, the Burnley lad doesn't play for Chelsea, plain and simple.

Great win yesterday, still unbeaten and three clean sheets to boot. Fantastic.

I always feared that once Barkley started to get game time the media would start their usual process of telling the world he's available for an undervalue fee. If Everton are serious about competing at the top of the league and are not just content to make up the numbers they need to invest in the future and Barkley is the future of Everton.

They need to rip up his current contract and give him a long term contract on 50-60K a week, I reckon that would be about 150% pay rise. We then put a minimum 60 million buy-out clause in his contract. Why not? they do it on the continent all the time. If not were going to have the same crap being printed every time Barkley has a good game, and let's face it, he's only human and eventually he'll have his head turned. We need to stop it now. {Ed025's Note - im with you marty..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate and the same with Baines too. We need to warn these so called bigger clubs off our best players and show the prem league so called top 4 our intentions. We have been a sleeping giant its time to wake up and show the world we are back and mean business.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could agree more he's our future tom efc

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, sign the lad into a long term contract that shows him how much we value him, with a silly buy out clause is the way to go if we want to move forward.

But we have to remember that doing so and the same with Leighton Baines while perhaps putting money to one side in order to keep Barry is going to mean there is a lot less available to spend come January.

Personally I am all for protecting what we have and building from within but I am sure a lot of people will disagree and start hammering BK and Robbie if we don't buy a load of new faces next window. Fact is though we can not have it both ways.

Gareth Barry has his critics but after yesterdays game he should be getting praised.yes he is 32 but we had neville in the same position for years and he isn't a natural DM like barry. Best bit of buisness getting 27 mil for fella and bringing barry in on loan.and naismith was a big plus for me. made up for the lad and deserved his standing ovation

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree mate. Even once he played at Aston he played left back. But his skill is excellent.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've always been supportive of RM, but must admit I was never keen on the signing of Barry, as for Naismith I thought he might have moved on in the summer.
Happy to eat humble pie!
As good as any debut from Barry. I wonder if Naismith has just had a Barry Horne! We might just see a different player with the fans off his back.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thoght Barry was the ideal link between defence and attack. Don't know were that leaves Gibson though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barry was class yesterday and definitely one of the reasons we won. All young English midfielders should watch him cause that's how a defensive midfielder should play. You know how good a player is when the come straight in and look like they have been there all their career and that's what he done IMO. Really good result yesterday can't wait for next game. COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

Iv always singed felli's praises, but Barry to me was a different level, slotted in there perfect, age and experience! Consistent right through, and to me helped speed up play which we were lacking last 3, of course chelski also forced the tempo to be upp'd but Barry held it in there! McCarthy come on and also made a difference, put himself around good. Was happy to see Kevin deployed up front, maybe this could be a better position for him, rolling off defenders and running. Good day and happy to see RM has been able to get players in to start his transition of the team.

Barkley did not get the praise his performance deserved yes he gave the ball away at times but in there half but evertime he picked up the ball he looks like he will make something happen the kid is a class act he ouses quality his change of pace his power his ability to shield the ball and he drifts past players with ease he made that goal today in my opinion apart from Whiltshire no other English player would of been comfortable with a pass in to him surrounded by opposition and then just hold off and find the pass to osman he is going to the top no doubt about it and they say we don't have any technical players coming through well Whiltshire and Barkley are better than anything we have had since gazza
