With news that EFC are to build a new stadium at Walton Park-i cannot understand why we are not progressing with the Stanley Park option now that the redrubbish are no longer interested

So basically the stadium announcement was the club telling us where they want to build it. No time frame, no info on how they intend on funding the build etc. So I think I will put a lid on any excitement until any real news about a new stadium is made public

Hey guys, can someone explain to me how a new stadium helps us, I know the capacity will increase by 10,000, which doesn't seem that much, but what other things come into it? Training/sports facilities, better area, more expensive tickets, what other things are eh stadium used forand how much do we generate at the moment?

{Ed025's Note - its the corporate hospitality thats the big earner grayzo, the boxes and conference centre generate a lot of capital, add to that concerts etc and thats where the big bucks are mate..

Tha liberty stadium generates more match day revenue than goodison and only holds 20500 capacity. All because it's got a greater corperate facility. That equal revenue with half the eats. So agree with Ed. The money is in the corporate operations.

Toffee I never realised that. Swansea's Liberty Stadium (which I thought was too small once they'd built it and been promoted to the PL) generates more revenue than Goodison despite being half the size. This confirms the need to relocate. If the emerging stories are viable (barring resident opposition and finances) then this move MUST happen even though it will mean moving up the road to Walton Hall Park.
I just hope that after the disappointments in recent years re The King's Dock and Kirby, that something will actually happen this time and we will be able to move forward.
In a climate of financial uncertainty, Everton need to be able to compete with the big boys in the transfer windows. Gone are the days when we had to sell to survive so even though the move will upset the traditionalists, it is THE way forward if we are to move forwards into the next few seasons when the rich will get richer. We cannot afford to get left behind!

McAleny is now 22 years old. that's a year older than Lukaku and 2 years older than Barkley. so what do you guys think is to come of him? Will this be his make or break season, or will he pull a Vellios and do one? I recall a lot of hype around him when he came on and hit that shot against Arsenal all them years ago.

{Ed025's Note - i think he will have trouble getting in QB, lukaku and naisy are doing the business at the moment and his only chance is either a couple of injuries or a europa or league cup spot, it does seem that he has not done enough to impress bobby so its up to him now mate..

Bobby gave him a new 3 year contract, must be doing something right, saying that, martinez wants cleverley so yeah, martinez judgement isn't all that good

Yeah fair point Ed, I would have thought he'd get a runout in one lf the friendly games, but he didn't. Exactly my point Swan, but Bobby has given Hibbo a new contract also.

Seriously hope they don't kill the atmosphere by having an ultra modern stadium, yes we need new and we need bigger but the intimacy and power of the atmosphere in Goodison is second to none, I've been to all premier league stadiums (apart from Liecester and Burnley) and I know I'm massively biased but nothing even comes close to our atmosphere

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liked Burnley didn't like Leicester much.

We need to base any new stadium on the design of the new Juventus arena in Turin. Fantastic, atmospheric ground!

Yeh I agree new stadium looks good

The new ground project, is vital, if we are to ever be on anything like a financial level playing field. However it is no good wishing the ends without providing the means. This time round, not just a location or design but a cast iron case from the board about where or how this will be funded. Only then will I belive we have not been conned again.
