I'm in complete shock. 7m for a player with 12 months left on his contract and it's jonny evans! Every time we played Everton always hoped he played because he is appalling!!
On a free transfer that's bad enough but 7 million, got a feeling Roberto has just completely lost the fans.

No he's not tested but Evans is tested and he comes up short

8 million for an injury prone average to poor man u reserve who thinks spitting at other players is acceptable. Just how much more of the clubs limited budget is this man going to waste. He can't attract any player of note or quality so he buys who ever is availableand not wanted by anyone else. Call me negative Iif you want but i'm gutted.

Omg Jonny Evans strongly linked to replace Distin.
Utd wanted 10 mill but Evans is in last year of his contact so a compromise deal is believed 2 b close bet 7&8 mill.
Kaboul from spurs was another linked but thankfully he's having a medical @ Sunderland.
Gibbo,Howard,cleverly,saha & now Evans.
If that's best we can do God help us.
The Lennon/mirallas or mcarthy swap deal plus cash rumour won't disappear either.
God knows why they don't give mcarthy a new deal

God a grateful bunch u lot are!

For the record if jonny gets a run of games he is a decent CB.

Granted he has a mistake here and there but over all I think he may suprise a few of u if he gets a run.

{Ed001's Note - it is the if bit that is the crucial one. He will never get that run because he can't stay fit and it takes him about 6 games to get back on form after an injury, and it is the 7th game that he gets injured in.}

I agree in part mate but jonny was not one of our most injury prone CB over the seasons. Granted he had a stop start 18 months but mostly due to loss of form.

He has ability, maybe just needs a bit of confidence shown in him.

I think he has a problem being in and out and can't gain form from it.

I tell u what blue noses we will do u a buy on get one half price deal. Take Evans for £8m and get Jones for 5m.

Form a line guys!

He is decent on the ball, scores goals from set plays, can cover a few positions on the pitch.

He was sunderlands player of the season 2 years running while on loan as a 18/19 yr old so there is ability there.

The season he and Rio played most of the games at the back when vidic done his knee he didn't let the team down.

I understand u lot being pfff about the signing but this one ain't the worst one u have made imo.

Like I said with a run I think many of u will see the lad has talent.

Maybe look at it like u could be the club to help him reach his potential?

My mate Liam is a UTD fan and is begging us to sign him, he says Evans is the worst Centre Back on the ball UTD have ever had.

. well it's now official - Bobby is mad! He's now come out & said that Cleverley has brought our midfield much needed refreshment.apart from chucking a bucket of water over the squad during a photoshoot I don't know why the hell he's talking another non-existent situation up again. once again more drivel from the mouth of the skinny waiter - I'm afraid we're in for another season like last!

Can anyone out there explain to me just who Everton FC are planning to sign in this transfer window? Martinez deliberately let it be known that the Club would be getting its business done early! Now if that business just consists of Tom Cleverley on a Free and Delafeu from Barca for £4mil, then we are in trouble and this inactivity will not convince the likes of James McCarthy to stay if and when the so called big clubs begin to show interest. We have been linked with numerous really decent players of late.Wijnaldum the Dutch midfielder & Ogbonna the defender from Juventus.and have lost out on both? Another brilliant Dutch creative midfielder, Clasie, has just signed for Southampton for a mere £8-5 mil. that's a hell of a nominal fee for such a good player. We need another striker. a permanent second striker alongside Lukaku, not stuck out on the flanks like Mirallas. to play in tandem with Lukaku, just like Sharp & Heath or Gray. One lone striker having to run round like a headless chicken for 90mins is stupid, in my opinion! And once again, even at this very early pre-season, I do not see at all any reason to pin our hopes on Ross Barkley. He was his usual very unconvincing self against Stoke in the Asia Trophy. in fact Pienaar showed more than Barkley. I am fed up hearing about his potential, and he's only 21 etc.he is never going to hold and control the midfield and is not good enough to "build a team around". Barkley shows flashes of brilliance once or twice every couple of games but does precious little else. I reall wish I didn't think this way, but at the age he is at now he should be taking every game by the scruff of the neck and be bombing past people with the pace and power he has.but he doesn't. Sergio Roberto from Barca (which is rumoured) could be a good signing but we badly need another top class, proven striker, and not a striker who only plays when Lukaku is injured or rested. Martinez needs to get the Midfield 4 sorted and fully balanced, all working for each other and then 2 permanent strikers in front of them. We also must at all costs keep hold of Stones, Coleman & McCarthy, these 3 are the future of Everton FC. The club needs to buy proven class players now, because as the season nears the prices go up. I really hope we can have a great season and we have proved that we can beat anyone on our day, as we did last season. COYB.
