Relatively easy?!
Away to Newcastle United isn't usually easy.
Home to Crystal Palace - with Tony Pulis having them battling to avoid relegation - will be hard work.
I don't think we ever have any easy fixtures.

'I don't think we ever have any easy fixtures.'

We have still got to play Manchester United at home. You can't get easier than that mate.

I guess easy might have been the wrong word and I did forget about the newcastle game but I don't think crystal palace will be that hard a game and we won newcastle away last 2 times didn't we I know we won it last season not too sure about the time 2 seasons ago but onwards and upwards and cut a noobie poster some slack :)

And I was kind of stressing the word relatively because I knew we had some reasonably hard games coming up but I think we can definately win them and that they aren't anything we can't handle

MinatoEFC: Welcome to you as a new poster :-)
By rights, we should have trounced Cardiff City at home - and we had enough of the game and created the chances - but their keeper had a great game, we didn't have our shooting boots on, and we needed two "lucky" attempts (a deflection and a mis-hit - whatever other posters might have written) to get our goals and the last-gasp victory.
Defensively, we've ridden our luck on several occasions this season and we've been caught out badly and exposed in a couple or so matches. Offensively, we just don't hit the target enough given the number of chances we create.
The possession and passing is lovely to watch - most of the time!
We just don't seem to win as comfortably and convincingly as we perhaps should considering how we play. That's why I don't see us having even relatively easy matches - whoever we are playing against.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gabriel you're again spot on. Their keeper pulled off at least 5 world class saves (and that from a Scottish goalkeeper)! We could have won more comfortably than we did and after those early draws to the likes of Norwich, Palace and Cardiff, we were due a little luck. OK so it seemed like we huffed and puffed a bit at times, but look at the table. Ahead of UTD by 3 points with a game in hand and only 2 points below Spurs with 2 games in hand and a significant goal difference against both. 5th spot is on. Let's push for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh United have got one of the best records away from home all season, would rather it of been at old Trafford again. I reckon we could do better than the 1-0 from last time

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2014 20:55:40
Spurs lost to arsenal so all we need to do is win one of our games in hand (preferably both as they are relatively easy games) and we will be in 5th place so it may not be champions league but I will take it and I think everyone would have at the start of the season. The future is looking bright with roberto in charge but next season will be the real test

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will finish 5th. Look what we are up against. A crap Spurs team managed by Tim nice but dim. And the worst united team in the premier league era managed by a clown.

Any lower than 5th will be a failure for Martinez.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Mar 2014 23:51:49
I tottally agree with you but at the start of the season I would have taken 6th or 7th and lots of people at that time were worried about finishing somewhere around 11th-8th which I thought we would be around the 8th-6th spot if martinez doesn't finish 5th now it will be a dissapointing but I'm sure we will finish atleast 6th and we will finally get some european football again :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Mike but anything lower than 5th will be seen as a failure for Martinez er I don't think so mate. This season is a transitional season for us. New manager new style to be as high as we are is a great bonus. 5th would be great but we would need all the players to stay fit and on form with results going our way, If that doesn't happen and we slip a few places I for one will not see it as a failure of RM as a manager.

Sa90 I think Mike may be saying this with his tongue in his cheek a bit mate

watching the game today between the otherside and utd, I could'nt help feeling a little pity for moyes, he looked like a broken man at the end of the game.
when he left us, I thought fair enough,
now's our chance to see how good he really is
has'nt worked out, has it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was never going to work mate. He is a really crap manager. Always has been, always will be. A specialist in failure.

I've said it before, but seeing him broken and so depressed has been my highlight of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is that they have huge financial clout to recruit new players. Plus, if they're not in Europe next season, then that'll be when he's expected to win the Premier League.
Anyway, I'm more interested in how we finish the season, followed by how we do in the summer transfer window, and then how far RM takes us next season.

I kind of feel sorry for moyes after all he did for us but I can't forget the manner he left us in but I guess I get to brag to the man united fans for once at work

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you, 1968. I was really angry with, & let down by him in the manner he left us, but I have met him & he is a nice guy. He is also brilliant with the younger fans. I'm really enjoying seeing Utd flounder, but I was shocked when I saw his after match interview. He's aged 10 years since he went there & didn't look well at all. I'd hate to hear that anything bad had happened to him. Get out of there now, David- your health is more important than that toxic club. (And long may their woes continue!)

Nightmare scenario developing here.
Imagine, May 3rd Man City at home.
If we win, we clinch Europa spot but hand the reds the title!
Please God no!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We won't win though Mushy, so no need to worry about it mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that scenario materialises, then the media will no doubt make a big song and dance about it. However, the league is won over 38 matches and in my opinion we should just be just concerned about what we do.

I don't like kicking a man when he is down, but, enough is enough. Osmad (who has been a good servant for everton ) no longer has the pace, strength, or stamina to hold down a first team starting place. The number of times he lost the ball in good attacking situation let down a number of good moves, and put us in danger of a counter attack. A roll, as 20-30 min sub, ok, till the end of the season, but than someone has to go to him with the truth.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe it's partly because we don't have a big squad and our players just have to play even if they're not fully fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think your are right and that's why we should get Colback in from Sunderland, same type of player but 8 years younger.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair JCW, I've heard he's good at darts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ossie has been a loyal Evertonian and has spent his whole career with us. He has never asked to leave and he has never moaned when not picked. He has played hundreds of games and suffered terrible injuries. He has also scored a few goals. some very important and some quite spectacular. It really winds me up when some supporters (and I use that word cautiously) come on and slag him off. He has certainly done more for EFC than these so called "supporters". Hibbert is another. I remember being in the Street End listening to some guys ridiculing Hibbert's limited abilities.all I could think was, "he has more heart in his little finger than you will have in your chest".

Agree0 Disagree0

Degsypulford, spot on, those that slag him are young uns who only know about moaning each week. If we won 4-0 against anyone, it was Ossies fault for not making it 8-0.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post Degsy. I'm behind you with regard to Leon Osman despite what Swan and a few others are saying. Ossie has never let Everton down even though with age the pace is possibly catching up on him. OK so he's not the player he was 3 to 4 seasons ago but he still has something to offer our midfield. As an impact player it was Leon who turned the game against Villa away and for supposed fans to criticise him as a Kopite is well out of order.

I wonder if that Manchester United fan who came on couple of days ago saying moyes is a better manager than martinez pops on today.lol.how many games they lost at home.looks like another game now.

David Moyes is a brilliant manager and I don't get how some people on this site are deluded enough o think otherwise, remember all the good times we had such as bottling It in the cup finals? Remember 2009. Quality. Or whatabout the classics such as when we failed to qualify for the champions league after losing to villareal in the qualifyer. Just magnificent. Tactical Genius are the words that come to mind. What a classic. Moyes was a everton hero and legend and we should all have david moyes tattoos and posters around the house. A david moyes shrine should be built outside goodison park to commemorate his greatness and we should have to pray to it every night. Tactial Mastermind Moyesy.

Whether we played well or not we got the job done. Another three points on the board is all that matters. same again next week please lads. Onwards and upwards coyb!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Interesting Stat before yesterday's game: we had 5 more points than this time last season. So there has been improvement. With all our possession and high pass accuracy all we need now is to convert chances into goals and we will be a match for any team. I would hope for two quality midfielders and two fast skillful attackers in Summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

5 more points than last year despite the fact that most clubs in the league invested heavily in their squads. As usual we had a negative net spend yet there we are sat high up the league with all still to play for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbf we have loaned 30mil worth of players which has helped, I wouldn't say we have it all to play for but 5th would be nice shame it means the Europe though because it's not much of a reward

Agree0 Disagree0

Greetings De Bleurrr we meet again, hopefully still buzzing from Shemus' world class shin. I'm quite pro Europa League, lots of reasons why (I would usually use words to describe them all) but main one is the addition of CL qualification for the winners. Am I naive to think we can win it though? Maybe. But what's harder, winning Europa or finishing 4th? I'd tend to say finishing 4th.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me the reason we dip is that generally we have a really good first 11 then we're we differ from other teams is that due to finances we can't afford to have really good back up, we need the the extra revenue from the camps league were you get 5 times more for making it the quarters than you get for winning the europa, plus better players are interested also

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpoolknow have a chance of winning the league this yr, there players

Agree0 Disagree0

5th or 6th place would be a tremendous achievement despite the hopes that were raised before Christmas. Should we qualify for the Europa (which I think we will) this will bring back European football with money to boot. Should we then qualify for the latter stages there is always the carrot of CL should we then go on to win it. For me it's a no brainier even though some people are denigating the competion because of Thursday night commitments.

Hey ed just thought I'd mention that I've noticed quite a debate between evertonians over the season about whether osman is good enough to be playing in our team. Thought maybe its worth doing a poll to see what the overall consensus is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I will set one up tmh, myself I still consider him a very good squad player, I don't see him as a regular starter, but for me he still has a lot to offer..
