For what it's worth my pick for manager would be
1) Emery
2) Fonseca
3) Silva

But I'll fully support whoever and give them time.

Exactly the same mate.

17 May 2018 02:42:12
I can't claim to know what it will take to be successful at Everton. I don't know any of the candidates personally and get my knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses third hand from the press.

From what I read though, Silva seems to be Moshiri's preference and I have to hope he, and his advisors, have more information than I have before they make the final decision.

Whoever it eventually is though, we need to support the new manager, DOF, and team. The euphoria at the start of last season has gone but let's get it back and treat it like a hiccup in the re-emergence of Everton

Lastly a quick call out to ED1. I was giving him some grief yesterday about Brands taking his time. Seems like I needn't have worried. Thanks Ed1 for listening

I am excited by all the news, but it will make my day when we get told the cleaning lady says "OMG not more bloody trophies to polish, and look at the size of the huge one next to the FA Cup and Premier League Title, something about Champions League or whatever. Never seen that one before. Better stock up on the polish" :-)

16 May 2018 21:26:54
Personal opinion and not a personal attack let me make that clear from the start. For me the 2nd most important departure/ step down was Mr Estone, the 1st should be our Bill (do not want him to leave altogether but would love him to step back from the ongoing decision making process, perhaps given an honoury position for all he has done) . After that, Mr Walsh if he would not accept a scouting decision then he had to go. Lastly Sam Alardyce (was only ever a temporary position and fulfilled his brief) , no sympathy, he has been adequately compensated. We now need an ambitious (certified achiever) Manager to be appointed to work under/ alongside our new DoF and I fully expect him (new DoF)

The times I have surrgested that Kenwright should, not Leave, but stand down from the desision makeing procsess, I have been slaughtered. Not going to re-run the history of his tenour, (which I have issues with) but surley now the time has come to take a back seat, his sage "wisdom" being sought when needed.

16 May 2018 22:49:56
I'm not so sure on that after it coming out Moshiri picked Sam but Bill didn't want him.

Either way it's a new beginning and regardless of who's where and what it's time to just get behind the club 100%.

The debates of who should go and stay need to take a back burner and a new outlook taken by us all.

16 May 2018 23:35:12
Bill's position should remain imo.

anyone got any info on Wayne Rooney we where meant to find out today if he was staying or going hopefully with Sam going he will stay.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Do you really think Wayne Rooney staying is beneficial to Everton FC in the immediate and short term? I just donā€™t see the reason for him to stay unless itā€™s for marketing purposes. Now I didnā€™t see a hell of a lot of Rooney play last season but enough to suggest heā€™s not cutting the mustard. Your thoughts please mate

16 May 2018 20:39:19
If he goes he goes. I'm surprised he was at Man Utd as long as he was, as imo his legs went when he was 28 to 29. He and his play started to slow down. I'm looking forward to what Brands signs up.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 20:47:01
I love Rooney but if the new man doesn't want him then so be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 20:47:41
Yes I do think he has got something to offer just need the new manager to get the best out of him, he was our best player so our we getting rid of everyone think how many points his goals have got us, the performance against West Ham shows he is still our best player by a country mile and I think he could of easily got 15 goals for us this season with a bit more attacking approach still 10 goals in a side that average 1 shot on target per game is an awesome return.

Agree2 Disagree3

16 May 2018 20:28:01
ED0333: with the right manager knowing how best to use Rooney, it might work well, but thereā€™s no way heā€™d be a regular starter imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I just think heā€™s an expensive substitute mate. Heā€™s clearly a domineering figure at the club and the only use of him staying for me would be to mentor the younger players and add a bit of experience to the squad.

16 May 2018 20:56:06
his stats before after sam joined are like two different players and I feel he still has something to offer he might not have the legs of a 20 year old but he still has the football brain.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 May 2018 20:06:48
Don't about you guys but all these pundits and opposing fans hating on "little Everton" only makes me more fired up for next season and as long as we all get behind the manager, think we can shut a lot of these people up. They haven't seen the dire football and they don't feel our ambition. So I wouldn't let their opinion matter and all we can hope is that Goodison is rocking on the first game of the season with an ambitious manager and players who want to fight for the club.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - amen to that joe..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Iā€™f I were the Everton board Iā€™d do all I could to appoint Unai Emery. Heā€™s a multiple European winner, has tremendous pedigree, a maticulous planner, has ridiculous contacts within the game and is a nice chap. Heā€™ll get you challenging four top 4.

Emery would be that level above and that's where we need to be aiming, I will get behind Silva completely but his win percentage is about 33%. Take it there is a lot of interest in emery ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - The level of interest in acquiring a guys services thatā€™s won the Uefa Cup three years in a row would I assume be pretty heavy mate. I honestly think he would be ideal for you guys and give you nous and stability. But I can only imagine Silva was lined up a while back hence why he is favorite to take the job.

16 May 2018 20:13:02

Great news that Marcel Brands is coming. A positive move by Farhad and Co that's for sure. One question I have is will he be in charge of getting the next manager or is that down to Farhad? We all know the boss favoured Silva not so long ago but if Marcel doesn't rate him where does that leave us? Who else is or could be ersuaded to be available? I'm kind of excited but extremely nervous as well.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

16 May 2018 22:49:15
I'd assume it makes part of his role redundant if he isn't a massive voice in who to approach.

The whole culture of DOF is still alien to us.
I said the other day it's pointless having a DOF if you appoint one jist after a new coach. Pretty much ties his hands behind his back before he's started.

If a coach is announced in the next 24 hours, I'd assume Brands has long been involved and already had given his backing.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 19:10:28
Not posted for a while, but myself like all blues will be intrigued to see who will be our next manager.
I've been checking the odds and one name which is 25-1 at present and hasn't been mentioned as yet is Andre Villas Boas.
I like his style, good win %, only 41, prem experience.
I'm not sure about the other names being banded about, but as with everything some won't agree and some might.
Just hope we make the right appointment.

I would quite like Arteta next season but looks like heā€™s favourite for arsenal.

Thanks for getting us out of the mess Sam but stopping one kind of rot with another still leaves you with rot. Not sure Silva is a move that screams positivity but if he's the one appointed so be it. I'm sure there are better options out there but as long as we don't have a repeat of this season he'll have my support.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 11:25:35
Great news on Sam Allardyce but just as important is the proposed DOF role

Do any of the Eds know what is happening re Marcel Brands?

Personally I think he has more than enough time to make his mind up whether he wants the job and we need an answer off him now, not in another 2-3 weeks.

It's not a case of we are Everton so he should be happy that we want him, but, it is a case of, if this is how long he takes to make a decision does he really want to come and maybe we should look elsewhere.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no idea, he has been offered the job, not sure if he accepted and is just trying to sort out a release or if he is thinking it over right now. He has not rejected you though, so that suggests it is probably just a matter of time until he takes up the role. Though you can never be certain when it is a personal decision like this.}

16 May 2018 12:02:07
Wasn't he offered the job a couple of weeks ago. The transfer window opens tomorrow. Surely it is in the best interests of Brands, Everton and PSV that he makes a decision now instead of keeping everyone in limbo?

Have we got a back up lined up if he backs out?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am sure all 3 parties would prefer things to be done as soon as possible but it is a big decision to make.

There are always other options, yes, but he is number one choice.}

16 May 2018 12:20:01
That's why they get paid the big bucks.

Making big decisions - not differing.

We should give him an time frame - make a decision by Friday or we proceed onto the other options.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 12:34:16
I think also a director of football would need to know who the manager is going to be. I presume he will have said he can work with Silva and hopefully they will both sign together. I can only hope they have their ideas on the squad.

I think though whatever happens Moshiri is now firmly taking charge. I think the coaches, board and players are in for a big turn around - I wouldnā€™t be suprised to see at least 10 leave:
Robles, jags, Williams, Galloway, Browning, garbutt, besic, jmac, besic, naisse, Rooney off top of my head.

Personally Iā€™d like Aarnold from palace to replace Baines long term. Iā€™d also like Gibson at Boro.

Give klasson Sandro Vlasic and lookman a pre-season to see what they can do as well as new Nigerian striker (forgot his name)

Pay through the nose for Zaha would be my perfect summer but I think another striker seems more likely. Vardy an option but he is 31.

Have a great summer everyone!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2018 11:18:17
Sometimes it feels like we are the most disliked club in the league. Everyone throwing the boot in when something goes wrong or we make a change. Look at the reaction to the stadium haha. People acting like we are lucky to finish 8th in any season. We are the best of the rest and I admit 7th is probably the ceiling atm but 7th should also be the floor. Nobody outside of Everton understands that us having the worst amount of shots under Sam is dispicible. How can that be argued against? The team isn't balanced but its not that bad compared to the teams outside of the top 6.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 May 2018 10:40:27
Fabio Conceicao for me all day long now, hopefully with Brands as D. o. F.
Conceicao is about 42ish, very tactical, plays good attractive attacking football, changes things round. Knows what he likes. And he's been a success with rubbish teams whichever country has been in. And he's in rubbish wages at the moment too.

I love these pundits. If they were actually watching the dross we have as paying spectators they would certainly change their mind. They all p. s in the same pot as their mate Allerdyce.

'sam allardyce has left his role as manager' GET IN THERE
great statement by the new chief ex aswel btw saying 'sam came at a hard time for the club However, we have made the decision that, as part of our longer-term plan, we will be appointing a new manager this summer and will be commencing this process immediately'

Iā€™d be bitterly disappointed if the club donā€™t at least try to lure Domenico Tedesco away from Shalke. Can any Edā€™s please give me hope by saying weā€™re interested haha? I very rarely stand up and take notice of managers but watching the Bundesliga this season, the way he has Shalke playing and his tactics of high pressing, insisting everyone is a team player by making runs to lure away defenders to create space for others, not to mention his defensive variability (literally changes his defensive tactics with almost each different opponent, 90% of the time itā€™s extremely effective) and his focus on set pieces. The guy is a tactical genius and the players absolutely love playing under him. Iā€™m afraid if we donā€™t strike now give it 2/ 3 years and heā€™ll be in charge at one of the elite clubs.

Good news at last

It's Thanks and No Thanks.

Thanks for whatever you contributed for avoiding relegation ( a source of debate for us all) but No thanks - couldn't take anymore of you and your football.

Typical EFC though - no clarity on a replacement - Unsworth will be getting twitchy.

We haven't got a minute Johny. Transfer window opens tomorrow, World Cup getting in the way, Rooney needs sorting out and no DOF resolution.

Let's be honest Sam hasn't come as a surprise so when do we get moving on things we know need doing now, not in a fortnight or a month from now.

I think those are fair points. A repeat of the post Koeman saga would be clear evidence that lessons were not learnt there. That would be in nobody's interests and unforgivable.

We can actually move on and regain some optimism and hope again. Sam and Everton never fitted he didnā€™t get what we are about. If he was given a contract like David Moyes at West Ham until the end of the season with his job solely to keep us safe then I think he would have been appreciated and say thank you for the stability but we need another manager to take us to the next level enjoy your retirement. We donā€™t know the ins and outs maybe Sam wouldnā€™t accept the short term deal and wanted the longer one to get the pay off.

Moshiri should not promise him hope of a project for next season and giving Sam clarity. Maybe they both new what the outcome was going to be but itā€™s like a game of poker and not revealing their cards. Maybe if everyone was a bit more honest it would be more amicable.
Regardless we can look forward now and be positive about the potentially next 3yrs being exciting moving ground and bring through our youth players.

Fonseca, Moshiri's No. 1 choice - contract expiring, could get a deal done, then gets spotted at West Ham United!

Marco Silva previous approach unmatched talks begin. Watford file a complaint to the Premier League!

it's a pathetic attempt from Watford to get some cash out the deal imo they turned down 12 million then sacked him blaming us and now we look like getting him for free and Watford have spat their dummy out although I am enjoying their fans on Twitter all crying ha ha ha I love being a Evertonion.
