Anyone fancy giving fraser hornby a chance up top in replacement for tousan.

Actually I would put Richarlison up front with Bernard and Walcott on the wings. If he is good enough to play for Brazil as center-forward he is good enough for us. Not surprised about the West Ham result, it has been coming. Letting in two goals a game on average is a formulae for disaster. Until that is sorted we will have more results like this one.

i would give my mother in law a chance instead of Tosun he gives the Turkish national side his all and gives Everton very little.

behave alan the lads isolated up there but never stops running some fans really are pathetically fickle. kane hasn't scored in what 4 games is he a poor striker who gives everything for england and nothing for spurs, get a grip man and support the team.

I said I would wait until 5 games in before commenting on our progress. I expect some of you will be expecting me to be highly critical. well actually, I feel we have made progress to the point that we are lacking in a few areas but are not far off being a decent team. Re todays performance and result. it was always going to happen. West Ham lost opening 4 but we know they are not terrible and have some decent players. We had players suspended for errors of judgment that seem to have gone unpunished with players of other teams. We had loads out injured and a midfielder who's Dad died last week and tried to perform but just couldn't. The bottom line is we keep conceding 2 or 3 goals and no matter how hard the players try, we won't win many games when the defence is so leaky. Someone else mentioned that the kids of Holgate, Kenny and Calvert-Lewin are not yet ready. I tend to agree that to have all 3 in is asking too much. But my worry is that we still seem to also be lacking a center forward who can score goals. Tosun had a few chances again without ever looking like he would score. I am not sure what has happened to the player we signed, but the Besiktas supporters loved him? All I can say, is that when we get Richarlison back and some of the others out injured, we will hopefully tighten up. I have to say that Schneiderlin's continued presence in the team baffles me. especially ahead of the hard working Tom Davies. although I guess his maturity was a reason? But like Leon Osman has just said on MOTD we are lacking the center forward. let's hope we can tighten up and stop conceding and Tosun or Niasse can start banging them in. We had 16 shots today, that's more than in 16 games last season!

first 5 games looked easy Osman was right we've not replaced Luka.

Agree with most of that Degsy. Maybe Tosun needs a couple of games out and try richarlison in the middle.

Liverpool fan here

Why not try Walcott up top? He is a striker after all!

He's our only right sided winger perception.

Hey Ed 025 what's your view mate on todays game, I know we played poor but what for me really stood out is that the youngers Holgate Kenny and even Lookman were simply not ready for the first team and are not good enough, hopefully when we get our injured back we will reap the rewards and climb the table.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they were all poor GB and looking for champagne passes all the time that sold us down the river, plus tosun and calvert lewin,s first touch is woeful to say the least, and i know he scored but siggy has been terrible all season and should be replaced by gomez, add yerry mina asap and get ritchie back and coleman then we should be ok mate, today was unacceptable and i hope they all get the hairdryer treatment and are made to do extra training..

16 Sep 2018 23:56:58
I so was going to post about Sigs earlier on but didn’t want to put my neck on the line. We were all calling for him to play through the middle as our number 10 but since he’s been there he hasn’t really done much at all. I don’t buy it. Ironically it was when he was playing deeper he scored his goal today.

Good reply Ed mate cheers, ps that’s just about sums up our performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - by biggest worry GB is that the doom and gloom merchants will be singing from the rooftops and the "i told you so" brigade out in full force, this is our club and yes it was poor nobody can deny that but we have to stick with it and support the club and the project even when we have days like yesterday, things will improve but its only five games in and we have some good players to come in so lets just back the manager and the team and see where we are by christmas, im still a believer mate..

17 Sep 2018 08:46:10
Same as that Ed mate, once injuries suspensions etc are finished and the team get established onwards and upwards no Manager bashing from me.

17 Sep 2018 11:40:21
Agree completly Ed it's going to take time, once the injuries have subsided especially when Jimmy Mac returns and we have a more established team, all will become good, one thing I will not do though is running down or slating Marco we have to give the guy time, as you say he's only had 5 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we all knew it was not a quick fix GB or if we did,nt then we should have, marco is a manager not a miracle worker and we have problems that wont be fixed overnight so stick with it and support the whole club, we all want better of course we do but whinging and moaning wont help things mate..

16 Sep 2018 20:04:57
How's the revolution going under Marco Silva Ed025? Least your football is better to watch than last season though, certainly for us outsiders lol. You think you'll stay up?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - that was very poor from us today sarri, good to watch if your a kamikaze pilot i suppose but a nightmare for us, we will get it right though im sure we just need to keep things simple and not look for champagne passes all the time..

17 Sep 2018 00:58:08
Played like last season at times today, once you get all your players back fully fit and firing i think you'll edge it into 17th place Ed lol😅😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if we play like that your not far wrong sarri, hopefully that was a one off and every team has an off day lets hope that was ours, we have to be a lot better than yesterdays performance and i know we have injuries and its a new regime but we have to improve very quickly or we will put a lot of pressure on ourselves, bad day at the office im saying and arsenal will pay the price for that at the weekend.. :)

Ratings and observations on today's poor performance.
Pickford 4
Kenny 5
Holgate 3
Digny 6
Sneidalin 4
Gana 5
Walcott 4
Sigusson 4
Tosun 3
Calvert-Lewin 6

Subs
Bernard 7
Niasse 3
Lookman not enough minutes to rate

Digne excellent going forward but needs to realise defending is the first priority
Holgate needs coaching on spatial awareness as he isn't aware of what's happening around him and is therefore a split second in reacting to danger ( third goal where he lost his man) .
Walcott is an enigma, he is either brilliant or mediocre.
Tosun is slow and therefore any runs he decides to make are very easily countered and he is poor in the air.
Sigusson again lacks pace and despite a very well taken goal was totally ineffective.
Niasse is not of premiership standard.
A general observation nobody bust a gut, when we lost possession in WHU half and got hit on the break, to recover their position.
For the Arsenal game I would drop Holgate providing either Mina or Keane is available, Tosan and Sigusson and play DClL has central striker with Richarlson on the left and Bernard in advanced midfield.
The.

some crazy over reactions there, we had something like 10 first team players out today, bring mina into the defense, get Gomes playing in the centre, get richarlison back get bernard upto speed and we have a very good side people need to take into consideration the shocking injury list before they slag a new manager who is tryi g to implement a new system with new players and has yet not been able to play his strongest 11 at once.

Happen to agree, we weren’t great today but one game doesn’t make a season. I’ll reserve judgement until we don’t have an injury list as long as war and peace and our new guys have actually played more than 5 minutes.

{Ed025's Note - fair point gibbo..

17 Sep 2018 10:24:56
johny1989 If we had something like 10 first team players out today can you tell me who? As far as I can see we had pretty much most of the first team playing even if it was only badly.

coleman, keane, jags, mccarthy, mina, gomes, beni, richarlison. there is at least 5 of those who would have started yesterday if fully fit.

Been keeping our eye on Everton since opening day as it seems we are in a three team league with Leicester of which we are now top. Can't believe you lost to West Ham. Think Richarlison cost you the game as you are not the same team without him.

Ahh, good old Everton helping out a team in need of points with a few unforced errors that lead directly to goals.

2 stupid mistakes and we are 2 down after 30 minutes. Great response though and super header late on by Sigs. We can win this, but we need to cut out the errors and get at them in the second half. COYB.

16 Sep 2018 18:14:46
We need as a matter of urgency someone to drive us forward in midfield (where's Barclay) and more to the point a solid destroyer in front of the back 4, who will come out when the defence comes out and goes back when the defence goes back. All those eternal optimists (they are at it every year) just do not get it. This fella is out of his depth. I really hope that come Christmas we are not paying 2 ex Managers and one ex players wages. Get the due dilligence right and take good advice in the first place and we would not be here now arguing amongst ourselves. And please don't give me the have patience rubbish, I have been having patience the last 4 Managers (including this latest) . Good riddance you may say and that is fair enough. But I am logging off to give my old heart a rest. Arsenal next, my giddy Aunt.
