Just reading that Ancelotti if appointed will bring his own backroom of 4 or 5 staff including his son Davide, just wondering what would happen to Big Dunc and his involvement with the Team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is one of the problems that he has been dragging his son along as assistant manager or assistant coach, and previously as a gym instructor. It is part of the deal to employ him now and has resulted in rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way.}

17 Dec 2019 14:59:19
Thanks for the info Ed mate.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair GB, this is what I have just left for Ed025: "Carlo Ancelotti would be a good option for Everton but there are pros and cons to him. Pros - a great coach who players always like. Cons - his son will end up as "assistant manager" if he joins and that will put noses out and raises the issue of nepotism (he was previously a gym instructor with him at a couple of clubs) and players consistently see him as ineffective. The other big con is he doesn't like interferrence and will make that clear if one particular advisor to Moshiri pushes for players he wants. CA does not demand control over transfers in Italy and won't here if he joins - but he doesn't want to be told one thing and then find out it will not be correct. He will also have get out clauses in his contract. But it can be done and Everton would need to honour any agreement - because by then many of the faithful staff could well be long gone."}

Could always put his son on cone duties.

{Ed025's Note - just because hes italian it does,nt mean he should sell ice cream bignev.. :)

Once again Ed many thanks for that, very informative.

You know it wasn’t long ago that everyone was saying we need to clear out the old guard, and that included the big man. Now I don’t know what the guys son is like, but it will be different. Dunc will still be there by all accounts, so will still have some involvement.
Thing is if you employ a top manager then you have to let him do things his way, or what’s the point. And if that means getting rid of the old guard so be it.

This is going to be a whole different ball game Woburn mate and I for one am looking forward to it.

I can't see Kenwright or Moshiri allowing Ferguson to go after what he has done to steady the ship. It will be interesting to see if Ferguson ends up on the bench at matches if and when Ancelotti gets the job.

It doesn't matter who the manager is coming in. If the decision has been to appoint them you don't 'tie' their hands up by trying to dictate who their backroom staff should or should not be.

BlueMike

Assuming we appoint a new manager then it might be better for DF and for Everton long term if he was let go
My biggest hang up about him is his lack of management experience. Maybe he needs to leave to get that experience if he really wants to manage a club.
If he goes and is successful elsewhere it would strengthen his credentials to come back later. No one doubts his love of Everton but he needs more experience.

seen a few reports saying carlo will ahve two assistants, big dunc and his son.

Already said he will keep Big Dunc on his coaching staff. As Ed002 says he (Carlo) brooks no interferance and lists it as a con. I see it as a positive, but just depends if Mr Moshri will clear the trees.

The more I read about Ancellotti coming the more excited I get. Apparently had to be assured of the project and that he would be backed in the transfer market to achieve these goals. I know this is paper talk but just so excited 🤡.

It's almost there. I an taste it, smell it feel it.

This would be a massive statement of intent and I hope everybody can get behind it. If we can get Ancelotti it's a no brainer - one of the best managers in the world

Go for it Moshiri (and bring Usmanov with him if you can)

COYB.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Statement of intent to whom?}

17 Dec 2019 12:58:24
A statement of intent to Blues supporters, the players, prospective players, ANO's who I don't really care about.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would not get so overwhelmed by this.}

17 Dec 2019 13:43:08
That's perfectly fine Ed002. I'll put you down as a ANO shall I?

As bw said just a statement to supporters that we have got the best manager available . This allows us to dream that we finally have the manager to get us competing at the top end of the table again. We may be wrong but without supporters dreaming that next season could be our season football loses what makes it great. We can't all support the teams expecting to win the league .
So I for one will be fully behind Ancellotti if it happens and dreaming again.

I think if we pull this off, could Moshri of got anyone better, we look to much into what people he brings with him, it’s irrelevant he is a serial winner and yes some appointments have been questionable but this is the best of the best, we all say get the best manager we can.

Ancelotto a top manager with top clubs, problem is Everton are not a top club, can he manage at a lower level?
He never stays long at a club, so not good long term
We have given him a 4.5 year contract cost a lot to get rid if does not work.
Moshiri has once again not thought this through.
Next time Duncan is assistant he must say he wants the job.
So my feelings are mixed.

17 Dec 2019 17:23:29
Ed02 if you had suffered at Goodison with the likes of Silva, Sam and Koemans brand of football, over the past few years you would not be overwhelmed, however for us Evertonians including Ed25, we will be doing cartwheels if we manage to pull this off.

Trust in Dark clouds to piss on the bonfire. Always pessimistic and negative. We are getting a top top manager, why not embrace it and look forward to a brighter future.

Let's just stay near the middle then DC. It's where we belong!

BigNev When CFC won the title with Jose, they didn't know what had hit them mate!
'They' had been asleep since 1955 in fact ''they'' thought Titles were only for the more prolific teams/ clubs like Everton Football Club.
Poor sods it must have been 'overwhelming' for them!

A maybe as in maybe he will support this manager, maybe he wont.

"Ancelotti a top manager with top clubs" What are you saying DC? That Ancelotti wasn't one of the reasons that these clubs were top clubs. When he went there they were already top clubs and he had no input into them and - really he didn't deserve to win all those trophies?

Maybe we are not a top club at the moment but, if we want to be a top club, who is better to show us what we need to do than that jammy buggar Ancelotti who went to 'top' clubs and made them better and won every trophy with him as manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2019 09:09:03
BlueScouser what DC and ED to some extent is don't get carried away. It is fact Carlo doesn't stay long anywhere and above all else we need stability and competency. Our DoF and new Manager have above all else to be allowed to develope their working relationship without interference from the 'advisors' ego.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the appointment of ancelotti will tell us a lot about the club DFS, his CV is second to none and if he cant turn this club around then we will know that the problems are in the running of the club at boardroom level, lets hope he is the man and we can move onwards and upwards with some sort of success mate..

18 Dec 2019 09:45:30
Agree with that Ed. Think its the ability to know when to remove the blinkers. Onwards and upwards but first let's get to 40 points, the old ticker needs a rest.

Interesting report coming out this morning that a deal was done to bring in Ancellotti on Monday saying that Mr Moshiri and Mr Usmanov was at the the meeting, the dal would run until 2022 and Ancelelotti would bring his son Davide with him, if this is true it could be interesting times ahead with Usmanov involved.

Ed 2, what's your take EFC statement was Victor Pereira ever a " candidate " that has withdrawn the process or is somebody telling proveable lies. I don't see the point unless Pereira was never a candidate. It is just make them look stupid if he was. Though stupidity seems 2bd nature atm!
