I should know by now, but when do the first team officially return for pre-season. RK was very clear today about wanting to speak to players, assess and discuss players with others more immersed in the club about the who he has available. no doubt he'll discuss things with DF and DU in the coming days or so, but undoubtedly will want to look at the players for himself.

To Southern Toffee.
Hi, I'm a big fan of this site but have had call to fall out with Ed02 in the past. I think it's pretty obvious to us all that he's not a big fan of us Scousers. In our exchange I felt he was well out of order making reference to my late father and calling me a w*nker. However, he is obviously on the site because he has a lot of inside knowledge and contacts within the game. In an exchange with another fan he suggested that if we see "Ed 02" at the beginning of an answer, if we don't like what he has to say to not read on. I would also suggest to do what I have done when posting which is to start my posts directing them to our Scouse Ed025. I've not had any animosity since doing that. After all, if you went into the pub and there was a guy you didn't like you wouldn't go up and talk to him would you?

My advice regarding Ed 002 is just ask him a reasonable question, he is very good at replying and he is very knowledgeable about players and teams. Don't state any opinion of your own in the question to him and don't get into any back and forth with him because you are just not going to win. If he replies to your question just thank him politely and all will be well with the world.

{Ed002's Note - I am not that scary but thanks. You can collect you daughter from the corner of ....}

Think that fan was me, tezza. I do think ed002 is harsh at times with his comments. Incredibly knowledgeable and accurate with this knowledge but in terms if communication is awful. it wouldn't surprise me if he is artistic. I have artistic children and I am aware of social issues and inadequacies. Maybe that explains his ability to annoy us fans. I dunno.

I tend to treat his answers with caution. The facts are usually accurate and we'll informed. Ad soon as it turns personal I switch off.

Sorry for essay. Just my observations.

{Ed002's Note - Let me paint you a picture - I am indeed artistic.}

Ed isn't here to be our friend, in fairness. For every "harsh" reply by Ed, there's a "told you so" or exaggerated statement which preceded it.

No thanks Ed002 you can keep my daughter as long as you can support her, she is the reason I am broke in my old age.

I do not look at this HYS as a place to win or lose, it is a rumour, discussion, debate site. I too have been somewhat taken aback at some of the Ed (s) responses and yes have responded back but that is just the cut and thrust of debate. In comparison to some (perhaps most) other HYS, this site is quite grown up and long may it remain so.

Just read on a flyer for the Tate gallery

'special guest artist, all his latest works for one week only, the Tate is proud to be exhibiting the works of Ed02'

I don't post often and admittedly ask some vague or even silly things, and can honestly say that have received excellent friendly responses from Eds who reply to me.
I suggest that perhaps we don't see a lot of the messages they get sent as i know posts get edited and maybe this is a reason they sometimes get annoyed. Personally i would be pissed off if i was getting abuse, or bored to hell over the repetitive questions. Maybe whoever was offended could accept that maybe it was a one off quip in the heat of the moment and try not to take it personally, just heat of the moment/ let's move on stuff.

Not sure why anyone is taking notice of the press speculation about potential transfers. Firstly it is not clear on Koeman's role in signing players or if the plan is to recruit a Director of Football. Additionally Koeman has indicated in his press conference that he needs to speak to existing staff members like Ferguson and Unsworth about the players we already have and also to talk to existing team players about their plans and wishes with a view to keeping players like Stones and Lukaku.

Apart from maybe a critical position like goalkeeper and the continual recruitment of young players I don't expect much movement in the transfer market for some time, especially since the Euro's add an additional complication from a time viewpoint.

He's said today the club needs a DOF or sports director. I should imagine once this is sorted out then recruitement will start.

No doubt plans are afoot and we will have an exciting time ahead.

We have two very contrasting players at our club but very similar situations.

On one hand you have motor mouth Lukaku. That confident in his own ability he can't trust his feet to do the talking and instead takes every opportunity big himself up in the media.

On the other we have Stones. Now he may want to go and he may have put in a transfer request last year but what he has done is kept it dignified and private.

If Stones does go I honestly think it would be a mistake for him and for us but I wouldn't hold it against him. For me also I think his attitude in all this only shows how much of an Everton player he really is and something that could see him become a future captain and potentially a legend.

As for Lukaku he is the perfect fit for Chelsea. Drogba and Terry seem like role models he could relate to. His attitude and ego seems like it would.

18 Jun 2016 06:53:12
Maybe he was misinterpreted. Fact is he thinks he is better than us and wants out so here you go Rom I'll hold the door. Stones I feel will stay because he will be getting coached by a man who in his playing days was a top defender. It would in my opinion be harder to replace Stones than it would Lukaku. Stones has a better first touch is better in the air and can pass better than Rom and he's a centre half. I feel these Belgians for all there talent are really egotistical. We could possibly get Bony and Shane Long for what we recoup for Rom. Burnt his bridges with me with his disrespect to oureport club.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jun 2016 08:33:00
Bony and long really? Is that what we should aspire to in our new era? Koemans interview yesterday he stated his priority was to keep our best players I'm so glad he's in charge and not you!

Not quite Bluejohn, I wouldn't want him to go or stones or Barkley perhaps Koeman is the perfect coach to help them become the players they show promise to be. Just get sick of the anti players posts on here, Evertonians have always over the years supported anyone in the royal blue and find this new culture of hatred not to be the Evertonian way I have always known!

I'm pro Everton to the highest level but won't show any mercey to a player that disrepsects the club and fans that pay his wages.

The problem with Lukaku is that since his new agent has come in and Martinez unwavering massaging of his ego he has done nothing but laud himself, refuse to take responsibilty of his actions on the pitch and blame others. Even now with Belgium, not once has he said "my performance was not good enough". Instead he has talked about how other clubs are interested in him, what a wonderful club PSG is, how he loves Chelsea, how he was a small step away from joining Juve, how everything is in his agents hands but is still under contract with Everton and how he deserves to be players CL football. Oh and before he moves, out of courtesy he will have a little chat with our shareholder.

What part of that deserves any kind of respect from me?

I want a Ged Def saying how he is looking forward to being back at the club and can't wait to work with the manager, Oviedo declaring his love of the fans, a Besic in tears because he has to come off injured then saying he feels like he's let us down, a Baines looking to the future with Koeman and even a Kevin Mirallas finally seeing straight by saying he has let the club down and he wants to stay and fight for Everton next season.

That is what I will give energy for.

Tbf wakka at least both Bony and long have a first touch, long bullies defenders better than Rom, Bony scored as many goals as Rom when he was at Swansea and both could be purchased to replace the Belgian Yakubu, yes Yakubu remember him he scored 20 goals and strolled around as much as Rom does. The fella thinks he's better than he is and has a first touch worse than Jack The Ripper. So yes Bony and Long I wouldn't mind remember this is all about opinions and that is just mine. I don't want a prima donna strolling around blaming everybody else for his shortcomings and miscontrols. If he stays fair enough I will still be in my seat supporting the team but I won't be singing his praises.

Look Ed £30m on an injury prone player would be stupid I agree
What I do not agree with is the use of foul language in the public forum you should be better than that and should be able to put a point across without be rude, there is no need for it.
And why the attack on the fact I live in the south? Seriously fella reign if in a bit! Be insightful be informative but there is no need for being rude and abusive! What you say may be true but you should be able to put it across better than being abusive.
It is also true that some need to have some patience I personally feel Kenwright should be applauded for showing patience in the face of the abuse and landing someone like Moshiri I also have no issue with waiting for Koeman to finish his holiday. Sometimes Everton may take time over making decisions but I would much prefer that then a knee jerk reaction!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - (a) If you agree it is stupid, why are you moaning. (b) I am not aware of any "foul" language being used. If you are raising the issue of your son and the word "dick" again, if he doesn't find out some simple terminology he is going to have one tough life. Perhaps if you taught him that that there are far worse four letter words like kill, hurt and maim he would stand a better chance in life. Would you feel less offended if I used the word "todger" or perhaps "love truncheon" for the sake of your little chap? (c) I didn't make any attack on you for living in the south - I live in what you probably call the south. I was simply teasing the easily led and gullible. (d) None of what I have said is abuse - it is in very simple terms all absolutely correct. My observations on the Overtly Damp fans are accurate, clear and concise. Try not to let it confuse you.}

I have a theory on Lukaku. He has been in shocking form for the past 3 months and Everton know this. So Everton tell the world we want Lukaku and we will offer him 100,000 pounds a week. Make him very important. Then Everton won't consider anything under let's say 60 Million pounds and will tell other clubs that he is required until we reach a certain price. Does that make sense. What do you guys think?

£65 mill to PSG and get striker in. He don't want to be here, great goals last year but wants move and he is lazy so cash in and move on. Let's put it to bed.

He is making a tit of himself lately. I tell you he won't have it easy against Ireland on Sat. They might not be the most talented but they sure know how to make it difficult for their opponents. Just ask Ibrahimavoic (sorry for spelling Swedish striker)

If he doesn't improve quick we won't get anything near £60m for him. The rate he's going it will be more like £40m. Not sure if his transfer request will be refused if he puts in one.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jun 2016 17:59:24
Everyone is so quick to dismiss him, its been a while since we had a 20 goal striker, he is young and probably misled by the press, they are there to sell stories. I wouldn't think Lukaku has any thoughts other than the Euro's at this time, any movement will be instigated by his agent. For gods sake stop all the anti Lukaku rubbish, he is our player if he dons the blue shirt this season then great. He has had a dip in form and is not the only player lately, so get off his back and get back to playing FIFA as I'm sure that's how easy many posters think it is!

We all need to take a deep breath and calm down. Nothing has come out of Everton since before the take over. We were being bought by American consortium until Bill unveiled Mr Moshiri . De Boer was hot favourite til RKs agent announced we were in talks. I know this is a rumour site but the way we are being run ( perfectly in my opinion) we won't know about any targets until they've signed . So keep gossiping by all means but only BK and FM know what's going on . As for the "I was sitting next to Kenwright on the train and he said " brigade, really. listen to yourselves. Best enjoy the Euros watch the talent on show and hope some are targets for our truly wonderful club. Enjoy the surprise rather than worry about the lies being told to sell papers .
