with all this chaos going on just hope every one is well first and formost and secondly i would happily see matches played behind closed doors not going to lie its frustrating not seeing the blue boys play or any other matches to watch to that matter let's hope football can resume in april touch wood.

I would prefer if we just bin the season completely and prepare for next. It would make a mockery of football results if match is expected to go ahead for one of the teams to suddenly be without players due to infection.

theres to many complications if the premier league was to be scrapped who gets champions league european places and who also gets relegated i understand if it did like due to the situation we are currently in but surly must be some way round it to play the remaining matches this season i'd be gutted if it was scrapped tbh.

{Ed002's Note - It would simply be frozen as it is and the top four go in to the Champions League etc. No relegation.}

17 Mar 2020 13:15:47
fair enough ed002) do you think it will be frozen or can it resume.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It depends what happens with with the issues that most of the world is facing. In the best case scenario the games in the Premier League could resume areound the end of May and be played two a week by the end of June and we are done. Else the options become fuzzier but the most sensible remains drawing a line across the league where we are now, putting the top four in the Champions League, the next three in the Europa League (unless the FA cup can be squeezed in with Norwich, Arsenal or Newcastle winning, or Manchester United winning the Europa League if that can be completed, where alterations can be made. No relegation and two promoted from the Championship. This won't suit everybody but it is the best solution I am aware of across the board - and it is on the table.}

17 Mar 2020 15:04:17
thanks for that info ed002) so could 5 teams get relegated from premier league next season if leeds and west brom get promoted or would it be just 3 teams that go down and we play extra matches thanks for reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The plan is four for each of the next two rather than five in one go, but I guess that could be an option.}

This season needs to be finished, even if it takes several months, starting a new season is madness, what happens if it comes back halfway through the new season, then that gets put on hold.

I know some posters would be happy to see it null and void for obvious reasons, make no mistake I am a bitter Blue, but the right thing to do is to try and complete this season if possible.

But forget if and when, let’s make sure we put peoples lives first and foremost.

The one 'opportunity' in all the madness is to align for a couple years with Qatar 2022. Finish season July- September. Do Euros in October. Start new seasons January-October for a few years. Not sure how the rest of you feel but after 1 empty weekend I so miss Football, I even would mean letting them have the trophy if we could start again soon.

what about players out of contract at the end of the normal season and the season resumes past their contract.

Wow. the hatred towards a team that has shown a real determination to win a league title is laughable for me. if it was my beloved blues, in the same situation, i would be outraged if we didn't get the title. put your bias aside and accept the fact that the best team in the league, by far, should be given the honour of being crowned champions.

All i see is a small club mentality and people with an agenda who shout otherwise. have a bit of decorum please. .

I’m not sure that decorum is the ultimate goal when expressing views on a fan forum site. Let’s be real here, Liverpool fans are not shy coming forward winding us up. The door swings both ways in fan banter.

Simple fact is you do not yet mathematically have the required amount of points to hand you the league. You are also (being a typical red) not considering the ramifications for all the other teams in the league. Those competing for Europe and trying to avoid relegation for example.
There is no argument that your team deserve the title, and given time you will more than likely achieve this. However, to simply ignore all the other teams in the league just highlights your ignorance of the bigger issues.
Remember people are dying here, and all your worried about is a piece of silver.

Brass Pauly is a Blue!

We are fully aware we don't have enough points yet and we just have to wait to see how this all plays out. But I don't blame any red for wanting the league, we have waited 30 years for this and the potential of all the emotion of the season being for nothing is quite sickening. However there are much bigger issues going on in the world right now so a title can seem relatively trivial.

But if we don't win the league by being 25 points clear it would feel like a punch in the gonads!

I work with a red and we both work in a hospital.
Whilst he would love his team to be crowned champions he realises there are far more important things in life.

As far in front as they are you can’t crown them champions as it has ramifications for all other teams in the league as well as lower leagues - I’m not sure what the answer is.

What we are both aware of though is it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

He’s come around to the thinking that they’ll probably be the best premier league team not to win the title.

Pauly when you've watched you team develop into probably the best team you are likely to see in your life time. Then have that taken away by the stupidity of mindless hooligans you may have a slightly diefferent perspective.

As I have said before Liverpool fans have been all over social media telling the whole world how they don't care about the elderly or the vulnerable as long as they get their title that's why this whole country dislikes them so much add to the case sky like to ram ex Liverpool players down our throat peddling the LFC propaganda about how Liverpool should just be handed the title simply because they are Liverpool the fact they haven't actually won the league yet has little bearing on anything my take is I'm hoping it's voided as they will then know what it's like to have something taken away from you that wasn't their fault.

I think there is plenty of families that currently know what its like to have things taken away from them when its not their fault. And currently that's all that matters is peoples health and safety.

there are heartless people in this world and social media gives them a platform to show the world their true colours. And these heartless people support all teams not just Liverpool.

I suggest you actually head to social media WYred and take a closer look at Liverpool fans and the vile abuse they are spouting my main concern is my 72 year old mum who has heart failure and COPD but according to your supporters she can die as long as they get that trophy football comes second Life comes first that's not a difficult choice unless your a LFC fan.

Love the solidarity, nothing like a little a pandemic for people to show their true colours. My grandfather's generation would be ashamed.

Those people are idiots Brank and I stay away from it personally as imo the vast majority are keyboard warriors who wouldn't say boo to a goose.

However I wish you and your family nothing but good health.
