if martinez goes the r.s dnt b surprised if rodeallga and mc carthy follow suit {Ed024's Note - Probably, especially if suarez goes

Believable2 Unbelievable1

To be honest i dont rate either player. they didnt escape relegation for nothing. theres better in the lower leagues

Really don't want Owen for some reason.just think maybe he won't be in the correct mind set for us,like the Everton way of thinking.just will want the cash and probably just to feed his horses lol.just my opinion like, maybe he will be ok.

Westy the blue {Ed024's Note - He has looked good when he has played for united, would be a gamble, but should be reduced wages and no fee

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Ed024 when was the last time he looked good for united. would rather give velious a go. owen is to interested in his horses along with fergie and rooney {Ed024's Note - He usually scored when he got a chance for united, he would be on a free and on reduced wages, we could maybe get him on a pay as you play deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen will always score goals, he has proven that even at united with limited opportunities {Ed025's Note - even though the fee would be waved...he would cost a fortune in paracetamol..

Agree0 Disagree0

When was the last time he scored for united?

oh god if only we had pienaar gibson and jelavic from the start god knows where we would have finished. i just hope everything goes well in the summer and get pienaar back properly along with a few free's and possibly dempsey we will have a strong season.
Andy {Ed024's Note - Gibson holds the ball up so well and is a steadying influence

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Gibson for me will be Club Captain within 3 years and worth 20 million

Hi Ed, Is there any news on the launch of the new shirts? Had a quick gander at the Brazil and Holland away shirts just now. I'd quite like something like the Holland one in black which would be keeping in touch with our history. Any insider gossip? BlueTone {Ed024's Note - Coming very soon tone, watch this space

17 May 2012 20:23:48
Don't think rodwell is worth anywhere near the 20 million quoted last summer, he has barely played all season for various reasons, and all we keep hearing is of his potential, but when if ever is this potential goin to come to fruition?? I know Harry's a fan so how about a swap of Rodwell for Pea nuts and krancar??

I'd take that deal!! Two quality players for right now!!

Kurajan {Ed025's Note - i would take that as well kurajan..

Believable4 Unbelievable0

As much as i like krancar and pienaar rodwell is still young and has had a bad season with injuries. getting pienaar is a must and krancars contract is near up. keep hold of rodwell and sign both anyway. rodwell will comegood when fit and is worth more than 10mill

17 May 2012 20:23:46
Each day i wake up a proud evertonian and im hopefull this summer i will be chuffed if we sign a couple of players, I hope BK can sort us out with a few players and keep the squad we have now....

Callum Wilcox EFC {Ed025's Note - that would do nicely callum..

Players I wouldn't mind losing...
Anichebe
Coleman
Gaye

Players I'd like to see come in
Pienaar
Dempsey

I'd also like to see, vellios, Barkley and Baxter used more next season

J0hn80y {Ed025's Note - none out...pienaar, and a free in for me mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Perfect world yeah.. None out, but the big man has said it him self, might need to start trading in players, these are the only players I could cope to lose

The following players' contracts are about to run out and will potentially be available for nothing.

I know, I know - wages etc. But how many of these would improve our squad? Opinions welcome:
Goalkeepers;

Craig Gordon

Defenders

Dedryck Boyata
Paul Scharner

Midfielders

Michael Kightly
Martin Petrov
Danny Guthrie

Strikers

Michael Owen
Andrew Johnson
Salomon Kalou
Ivan Klasnic
Hugo Rodallega

WOULD LIKE THE THOUGHTS OF THE ED'S AND REGULARS ON HERE. By the way incase anyone mentions it, Hoillet will cost 5 million in compensation so technically not a free.

Myself, if i could pick one from each list i'd go for Gordan, Boyata, Guthrie and Rodellaga (i don't rate Kalou)

PaulEFC {Ed025's Note - your picks look good to me paul..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

We should go for Kalou, Rodallaga, Guthrie, Boyata, Gordan (if mucha goes) and maybe Owen at a push...
Toffeepidge

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos they are out of contract they will be greedy when it comes to wages, so i say no to them all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just Rodallega for me mate, dont think any of the others would improve us. Cant believe craig ordon is on a free, cost nine million a few years ago, mad

Degsyluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Craig Gorden, cost 9 million and has just been rewarded for best save of the 20 years of PL football.
Now he is a free transfer and can't even get the Sunderland team, still only 26 aswell.

OK, some of you might think I'm crazy, but....
If Ashley cole's gonna get the nod over Baines at left back for england, what about pushing him forward as a winger??
He has a proven record of asists, great dead ball specialist, could cover defensivly, and compared to Downing = No assists No goals......... Thoughts??

Gods Doctor {Ed025's Note - i hope he does not play at all...i dont want him injured for next season...i know its a bit selfish, but for me everton come first!..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Awful idea Baines would not be good as a winger as his starting position would be higher up the pitch, and he is best making his runs from deep as he does not have to beat his man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree totally with second poster, I think Baines could easy play on the wing

Degsy {Ed024's Note - Baines can play anywhere, he is superman

Agree0 Disagree0

Im that second poster if i remember rightly Baines had a spell on the wing a few seasons back and he was awful from what i remember. Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines could be a world class winger! No doubt about it! U only have to look at bale, they had that record losing streak with him and now they rate him at how ever many million! Baines may well have played a few games there but over the last 2seasons he has matured as a player! He is a proven goal scorer aswell as provider. When all is said and done though moyes doesn't have the resources to push bainsey up the pitch when he doesn't have a strong enough left back to support him. And with England no doubt hodgeson will play downing over him (why I don't know!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines could play as a winger but whos goin do left back as distan didnt look that comfortable and baines is the best left back about. better gettin pienaar and letting them take teams apart down the left to feed the jellyfish

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair it worked for Gareth Bale!

Agree0 Disagree0

A few posters seem to have confused what I said. I said for england NOT Everton

I know there's people that really oppose of us getting owen, I'm not saying i'd be overly exiting, but on a pay as you play deal as back up for jelavic he wouldn't be that bad, just look what we did for Saha as well. worth a punt in my opinion!
Toffeepidge

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Owen as had his chance hes finished now {Ed025's Note - i agree..

Would love moses or Dempsey as St with Jelavic

All this talk of Owen being a good signing!! He turned us down for Newcastle and then turned us down for United. Are we that desperate that we should ask him a third time. We have got a very good side at the moment, and I wouldn't entertain him due to injuries and a gross lack of desire to play for our Great club. The club he professes to support.

Don't want him!!

Toffee ace

Believable11 Unbelievable0

If we starting shouting about owen give kenwright a get out clause regarding players like Dempsey aim higher were a side on par with lpool Newcastle spurs .do u think they'll b bidding 4owen nt a chance {Ed025's Note - good point..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes because ive heard tottenham are interested in owen {Ed024's Note - I can't see that

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs can have him just like they had saha. owens more interested in his horses. i say jog on. fulham are leading the chase for jordan rhodes at 3,5 mill. would rather take a chance on jordan than owen

17 May 2012 16:48:21
Wouldn't mind signing Holtby from Shalke! His favourite english team is Everton. However i think our main priority is Steven Pienaar, he plays well with baines and creates opportunitys for Jelavic only problem is the cost.

All We need now is a striker/attacking mid to support Jelavic, would like Naismith for about 2million.

im only 12 so dont moan!
COYB!
(im also a girl) {Ed025's Note - good post, and i think your right..

Believable9 Unbelievable0

We'd be a top 4 side.

Agree0 Disagree0

Holtbys favourite club is us because he's a supporter he went to 1995 fa cup final and his dad is a scouse born everton support everton is in his blood he was born
An evertonian he said that he loves everton ever since his dad told him about them hes a great player would love him! {Ed024's Note - Holtby is a massive blue

Doesnt matter who you support rooney is a toffee but hes at united money talks. the question is, is he good, will he come, how much will he he cost, and will he add to the team

Well I've seen it all now, the daily (joke) mirror, reports David Moyes would fit the Liverpool job perfectly, wtf!

Believable0 Unbelievable3

David moyes would fit any job perfectly, but hes not going anywhere, and never ever would he manage liverpool

Agree0 Disagree0

I was listening to 95.8 yesterday and some red supporter phoned in and his words were as follows:

"Dere's a manager only a mile away from ere that would be sound for us like, I fink we should have a go at gettin him" - (tried to capture our scouse accent in the words)

The commentator laughed and said next caller please.

rodallega -free
owen -free (pay as u play deal)
dempsey -if we have some money to spend Andy

Believable6 Unbelievable0

17 May 2012 13:03:38
I really think Moyes will try and get Owen. Could be a good player from the bench with the 1 upfront system we use with obviously Jelavic being the main striker, owen could be good back up if injury free. We should have a look at Diame from Wigan for cover for Fellaini and Gibson, better than using Neville or Heitinga for cover and get Pienaar.
Pienaar 5 million
Diame free
Owen free
Be happy with that in all honesty and plus we wont have to sell any key players to be competitive in the market

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Leve Owen well alone wer nt a club who need him always injured .passed his best .money needed else were .he's had the last 6 years picking up his wages without haven the desire to play on the pitch .everton r about hunger n hardwork as well as ability .take a look at the rangers kid Naismith good grab 2 jewels

Agree0 Disagree0

As long as we get pineaar i feel owen would be good for us, a good presence round the club and always seemed to score when he got chance for united

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - not for me bez...i cant see his motivation..

The England team is woeful in my opinion.
Phil Jones? Should be Micah Richards! Gary Cahill injured for the last month with hamstring? Should be Phil Jagielka.
Gareth Barry? What exactly does he do? Should be Micheal Carrick.
Stewart Downing 0 goals 0 assists?. Should be Aaron Lennon.
Andy Carroll 4 PL goals? Should be Peter Crouch! 15 PL goals and Stoke player of the season!
Hodgson playing it safe and negative. No Rio Ferdinand either! Unbelievable!
I like Scot Parker but even him, he is still injured and will only be fit a few days before the first game!
Only thing i agree with is taking Oxlaide Chamberlain, making Gerrard captain and of course Baines going who really should be starting ahead of Cole but doubt that will happen! Think the only way Baines will start ahead of Cole is if he was a Manchester United player. Sad, but true {Ed025's Note - dont forget...he is also taking that low life..john terry!!

damn people have beat me to it but i only just seen that about owen and i won't be surprised if moyes thinks about him. i know he 32 and had his injuries but fit i still think he is one of the best english strikers out there behind rooney of course. plus he is an evertonian at heart and he is FREE. don't forget moyes brought in saha even tho he was injured, so i won't be surprised if he did with owen. i wouldn't mind that. still a good player i think. Don't care about transfers too much. Just want peanuts to sign also keep all our key players and I think that's enough for us to push for Europe I really do.we play like we did since Jan (AND WE CAN) then watch out top 4 were coming for u lot.just wait and see..really believe if we keep our squad together now all of them teams will s**t them selfs when they got to play us.hell they do now already.just keep consiatant from the start and were there lads.COYB......

WESTY THE BLUE

Here's a couple of points to think and talk about;

If the rumours are true and Spurs want £5 million for pienaar, would you pay that for a 30 year old? Yes he's been brilliant for us since January but when you think we could probably get Holtby for £6 million or Hoilett on a free, who Re both much younger, is it good business?
Don't get me wrong I would like Peanuts back but £5 million is alot when you work on a shoestring budget!

And secondly, Michael Owen has just confirmed on twitter that he's leaving United, he will no doubt be linked with us but would you take him? I honestly believe getting him on a free on a pay as you play deal would be good for us, he's still better than Anichebe even if he's only got one leg!

What are your thoughts Ed?

Mickey Blue Eyes {Ed025's Note - i think 30 is not very old micky...i believe he has still got at least 4 years at the top, the thing is mate, that we know he fits...the others would be a bit of a gamble. owen for me would not be an option, i think he is more interested in horses than football, and although he would be free, he would still command a high wage..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Pienaar is quality for everton and changed our whole season we need him whatever the price {Ed025's Note - shhhh..dont tell "arry"..

Agree0 Disagree0

Players are now running until they are 35 and beyond, Pienaar is a no brainer for me mate, proven, slots right in and works his arse off.

Owen on a pay as you play would be a good move I think

Degsybluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

Where could you buy a player with Pienaars quality for £5m that loves Everton?

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on - Owen would not want a big fee to play for everton - I'm pretty much sure he's minted by now and has got plenty - he'd just be looking for the right club now - and he's not going to go somewhere like stoke or west brom and bust a gut for team he has no connection to - I'd bet he'd love to play for everton on a pay as you play basis - and yes - he'd be ahead of Vic wouldn't he - so a decent sub! I bet he'd love to play for Everton and that means more than money sometimes - especially if you've got loads

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes signed Distin for £6million when he was 33 or 34 so why not pay £5million for 30 year old Pienaar if we can afford him?

Agree0 Disagree0

*sigh* Holtby will not come to Everton for less than £15m... Fact! And Distin was 31 when he signed #JustSaying

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2012 06:20:53
Steven Pienaar has got to be No. 1 priority!
Just look how are results changed after he came back.

COYB

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Pienaar a must ,if this deal is not completed it will signal an exodus of main players n then moyes were talking about a 5million deal at most .total madness if we fail this transfer

Agree0 Disagree0

The usual suspects are movnng in to try and make us pay more - apparently Sunderland and Villa just messing around trying to bump the price up - and spurs happy to encourage it no doubt - as if Pienaar is going to go to Sunderland FFS - Pienaar himself needs to step in now and make the Everton move happen - or he'll end up unhappy again somewhere else - come on stevie - do the business - it's down to you {Ed024's Note - Pineaar will come home in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure everton ans spurs would have agreed a price in january {Ed025's Note - i think so too..

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont, surely the deal took place mins before the deadline, surely they wouldn't of have had enough time to thrash out a deal, especially since Spurs are notorious for being hard to deal with. If there was a deal, surely Pienaar wouldn't of been crying in his farewell interview.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton s board don't agree fees in advance .they havnt gt the brains hope we gt pienaar ,but it will be a drawn out saga .any other prem club wud have deal done .it's obvious Harry dusnt fancy him n will want rid of his wages {Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Your talking about a board who sent out yobo with a view to sell 2 years ago were offered 6 and a half for yak then sold him for 1 and a half they are hardly bright enough to arrange a price willo

So Ed and fellow blues would you be happy to start wit this squad for next season? 4 in 4 out and only spending 3 or 4 million.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not Sure about Right wing. Think we definitely need strengthening here!

Blue Bones {Ed024's Note - I think that is one of the areas moyes will look at

Agree0 Disagree0

Straq and Drenthe are loans so would raise no money. Mucha and McFadden between them would raise very little. Pienaar is a must and unless BK magically comes up with some money we will have to sell to buy. Pienaar alone will cost at least 4 million as Spurs will want their money back. Not sure what the terms were when we sold him but likely to have been 50% up front. We'll have spent that so there is 2 million to find right away.
I'd be happy to get 2 million for Anichebe from a Championship team.Let's face it he's not Prem standard. I'd rather we didn't sell any of our major players or future players (Rodwell). {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as I am concerned, if we only sign Pienaar, that would be a happy summer for me, any other signings is a bonus! {Ed025's Note - that would do me as well mate..

I can see moyes selling Rodwell this summer, after Gibson being brought in and his partnership being successful with Fellaini there isn't alot of room for Rodwell. I can imagine Rodwell being sold to tottenham for 15 mil plus pienaar.... Thoughts?!? Dan {Ed025's Note - i dont think we would get as much as you think dan...i would like to keep rodders, if we are going to push for europe, then we need a bigger squad..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Kenwright cant give us any money, then sadly Rodwell might have to be sacrificed, with Gibson now establishing himself as a starter, Rodwell is now a bench player, and given our financial situation, having a player that could attract a 10mil+ fee isn't smart business for us, not to mention, we could use that money on more pressing issues, i.e. Pienaar, a new RM and a back up striker.
