would anyone consider kevin volland at heffenheim or tom huddlestone personally I think they are both good players and could add something to us, although we're not linked with them, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont know much about volland but always rated Huddlestone.

Thought Hull were unfortunate but that's football I guess.
Am I right in thinking though that the result means we go straight into the group stage of the Europa Cup now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes - we go straight into the Group Stage of the UEFA Europa League. The draw for that stage (in which we'll play six matches) will be made on 29th August. Other dates for your diaries are the six match days:
18th September
2nd October
23rd October
6th November
27th November
11th December
If we qualify (as one of the top two in each of the twelve four-team groups), we'll be joined by the eight third-placed Champions League Group Stage teams in the draw for the round-of-32.
Without tempting providence, you might also note that the final will be in Warsaw on 27th May 2015, which, perversely, is a Wednesday while all other matches are on Thursdays!

Thanks Sid. As always, the fountain of knowledge

Cheers Sid, diary updated.

1 thing I hate about European football, is how CL teams get a second crack at winning in Europe. Once out of champs league, that should be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed dentie but I don't recall too many Everton fans complaining about it in 05, not until the mekon ringer ref disallowed Big Duncs goal anyway.

I'm sure many evertonians will disagree because I'm looking at the wrong end of the table. But for me, curtis davies is a completely solid cb and ild take him in an instance. His stats show just how good he has been this year and, in my opinion, he should have gone to Brazil. Still looking at hull, I have always liked huddlestone. He doesn't do too much off the ball but play him next to mccarthy and I think you have sn excellent midfield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 May 2014 20:08:43
Great player mate i'd love him

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan correct me if i'm wrong you want to sell jags an buy Curtis davies

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2014 21:37:05
I will correct you, you are wrong, I said it was tosh when I suggested selling jags

Agree0 Disagree0

Doesn't say anything about selling jags? I'll jump on the bandwagon too curtis Davies is a great player, better than jones and smalling IMO, only in the england squad because of united

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not getting involved with the sell jags argument. Main reason is I didn't see it so I'm not going to have a go at anyone. Got the avoidance of doubt, I love jags and would never sell him. But my above post had nothing to do with that. Whether man of the match was given to ramsey, davies was the best player on the pitch by
far in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I liked him while at birmingham but wouldn't pay 8 mil hull would want as he is 28 now

Agree0 Disagree0

18 May 2014 02:05:29
28 for a centre back is nothing, look at distin, he's still got his best years ahead of him

Hey Degsy, Paddy here. Just got back from the fields. No I don't mind at all.
Ed it seems we are going after Bony, that could be really good news, and what do you think of that Saul is there much hope of securing him for a season. I also like the look of that Niang from AC. I would like to see Robbo going after Atsu as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 May 2014 15:41:29
We should stay well away from niang, talk about a bad attitude and personal problems, he tops the lot, he had his chance, he blew it

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want much do ya! ha, don't forget were Everton (Kenwright) Football Club.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy with Bony, Lukaku or any other center forward who regularly scores 15 plus goals per season. It is what we have been missing since the Yak got injured. I would prefer a hard working one with bags of skill, but guess that all the top clubs in Europe are looking for one of those. Hence Lukaku being contracted to Chelsea at the age of 18 or whatever it was.

Ive been watching Everton for over 40 years and been throuh the highs and lows of being a blue. One thing I am is a great believer in moving with the times though, and thankfully Everton have a history of doing that in being the first to do, in many things. However with the onset of the Premier League, everything has slowed down somewhat with the financial constraints over the years and wheeling n dealing on a shoestring. I started about 11/12 years ago following Rugby League with Saints being my team and it has been a welcome distraction through the summer months avidly following them. When Rugby league went Super League, well how refreshing it is that it never stands still, every year something new whether a change in rules or Technology, or miking the refs or through a promotion of the League it never ends. It brings me to the Hull Boss wanting to chane their name to Hull Tigers, well what a great idea ehh!. Seriously it happened in Rugby League ages ago and was advocated by EDDIE WARING way back before he evenn took up commentating, he took it over to USA, and gave them Rugby League. Sure it didn't last long but he wanted the same as American Football a name change for teams, it never happened till after he died I think, so he was way ahead of his time. The name change is a huge thing in America and was a massive and spectacular success financially. So what is the problem here in football over it, History Mishtory. Its an exciting promotion, its great for introducing new kids to football and as the Hull Chairman knows its a great money spinner. So come on why is football so slow in learning from Rugby League, learn each year to see what makes football more watchable. Its taken so long for the Technology thing to come in its laughable, and Miking the Ref. come on. 'Everton Gladiators', its History for those that don't know, 'March of the Gwladys Street Gladiators' being the flip side to 'Forever Everton', record. Or if you really want to be totally Historic the 'The Everton Toffeemen', I wouldn't be too sweet on that one though, not very exciting. Hey just a thought like, move on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just thought to add to it, it could be The Liverpool Cheatahs.

Why do we always have to p**s around in announcing our new kit? most other teams have theirs on the web.

If the black trim and black socks rumours are true, what on earth is going on? we are Umbro's only PL side, so no excuses of global manufacturers insisting on a style. We have blue and white shirts, not blue and black. Socks always debatable, with white the accepted modern tradition. I have said it before, but let's have a season where we have amber socks to bring back such great memories of Alan Ball et al in their prime.

The new badge is s***e why not present the proposed kit/kits and let us vote. Give the fans their voice, we can do this with Umbro as our kit will be bespoke.

Hey to all those who call us paddy. I am Irish and have been a loyal blues supporter. I attend matches, am usually in the upper bullens stand, love the atmosphere there, wouldn't support anything else. Bring on the next season.

On another report ed. I see we are seemingly interested to Townsend and Bony with the mirror. I would love if this were true but feel it is lazy journalism especially since it is the daily mirror. Townsend has great pace as winger and trickery, very much underrated and well Bony enough is said about him. Couple this with the possibility of having Lukaku on loan I would think we would be title contenders. Ed, let me know what you think.

COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if we get them 3 EB, I'm sure we would contend mate..

Don't want Townsend he's immensely overrated.

Agree0 Disagree0

Emeraldblue, do you mind being called "Paddy"? I am really interested in this because when people call Liverpudlians Scousers, most Scousers take it as a compliment. Fancy being called after a plate of stew. I suppose a "Paddy" is to do with fields? I put another post on earlier supporting Ed025 in this because racism views are a changing perception and I am really interested to hear your take on it. It is really strange because you can insult someone by calling them a Red Tw*t and that is deemed "acceptable". However, calling someone a Blue "Paddy" is not?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2014 10:27:01
Agree pkblue

Agree0 Disagree0

Degsy I am Irish Evertonian and have no problem whatsoever being called a 'Paddy.' I know i'm biased towards Ed025 because he's also an Evertonian and in my opinion does a great job on our page but his comments the other day would not have offended me in anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025: well done for the apologies - we all make mistakes (no one's perfect!) - and you're a top-notch Ed. Have a good one, mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thanks Sid,..

I echo that Sid. Ed025 you were out of order but admitted your mistake and apologised. Top fella!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play ed25, for admitting you were wrong about that comment about Tommy and saying sorry we all say silly things by mistake but the bigger people are the one that puts there hands up and take it on chin without trying to justify it well done mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - cheers stef..

Have to agree Stef, it takes a big character to eat humble pie; I did feel the whole thing got out of hand though with too many people jumping on the bandwagon to criticize.
Nice one Ed 025 for having the plums to apologize.

Just a thought. Roberto getting a lot of flak from blues fans for him considering utilising the loan scheme again for next season. Look back as to how many players have been brought into the club by previous managers on loan for a year and then signed on permanently if they were good enough for the shirt, big dunc, arteta are two examples, I'm sure there are many more. This way we get a chance of a trial period before splashing out cash that in the past we have not had. I am sure the likes of Lukaku, Barry and Delboy are all part of Roberto's plans for next year and I am sure actions are being taken to see if we can get them all to sign permanently because they have been a success. Wenger would not have been bleating if Lukaku had only scored 2 goals this season or Barry had turned out to be the crap player many on this forum thought he was when he first signed. no one had heard of Delboy before Roberto brought him over. None of these players are coming out saying I don't want to play for Everton next season, quite the opposite they are all saying they love it here. Roberto has also publicly stated he would like to sign all three because he sees them as being a part of his future teams here.if they were not good enough for him then it would be thanks and taxi back to parent club. If they don't sign, it won't be through lack of trying on Roberto's side. People are talking of Bony and Remy, either of these will cost in excess of what we could realistically get Lukaku for. One has had one season and scored goals in a bad side -Bony, the other has had a stinker of an attitude and is playing in a bad side but not setting the world alight in the north East - Remy. Arsenal sniffing around Barry, come on Wenger will not spend cash (wages) on someone of his age however good he is. Delboy has potential and another year to establish himself will do him no harm, especially with messi signing a new long term contract. I think the negative media comments from Wenger regarding evertons successful use of the loan system before the FA cup tie and league game at Goodison has created a myth of panic amongst supporters that having loan players is a bad thing. Don't believe everything you read in the press. The loan system is as good as the manager who uses it. Roberto picked up 3 corkers for us this year, if we can sign any of them it will be your season ticket money wisely spent. If we don't manage to sign any of them they all put in a great shift and will leave with our best wishes. Looking forward to the next season and watching the loanees play their part in our continuing success.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Soz mate I don't agree with you, well in part I do. The part of trying before you buy. The only one we were and are ever realistically going to get was Barry on a free the chances of us getting the other 2 on permanent signings is remote. I'm in the mould that we need players signed as OUR players to build on but if we cannot afford players of the quality of Lukaku then Martinez is doing the next best thing and loaning them. Personally I don't like it but it's something I guess I'll have to lump because it seems to be the way the clubs going at the minute.

Agree0 Disagree0

Excellent post Uzbek. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you say.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the loan system is there to be used then use it. We don't have buckets of money to spend and bobbys likes to keep what he has for a major signing or two, thus bringing in a few for a season on much lesser costs. I'd still like the ruling changed so players can play against there parent club.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 May 2014 23:19:30
Need to stop being linked with these damn loans! We need permanent solutions and signings not one season players who will plug holes only to reopen in the next season. No more loans only quality PERMANENT signings!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In the real world I totally agree with you mate but we don't have the money for permanent quality signings hence the loan route :(

Agree0 Disagree0

17 May 2014 10:35:40
So if messi was offered on loan you would turn it down? Anyway, loans are great, hot young prospects playing for everton, they may not be ours but we help them develop, in the future we will look and everton will be the club that helped get him to the top, we may not own lukaku or deulofeu, we want to have them, i'd rather have them than not have them, they've been here, enjoyed their time and we played a big part in their development, i'd rather of had them than not have them and I hope roberto continues to use the loan market

{Ed007's Note - No, don't be silly Murph. Friday is his tennis playing day (maybe golf) so I am sure he is lying drunk in some tennis (golf?) club bar wearing his budgie-smugglers. I wish I could comment more but probably best I don't, we wouldn't want to upset the faux outraged brigade again. As far as we are concerned the matter is closed now, Ed025 will be back when he sobers up and drops Jimmy Corkhill off in the morning.}
