Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

All the banter below with Evertonians worrying about red cards and referees tells me that over the years we have had our fair share of debatable and plain wrong decisions going against us. I remember many of them. From Clive Thomas to Mark Clattenburg. From Stevie Gerrards groin two footer intoNaismith to the total incompetence of Clattenburg's famous Derby game. I do know that Sir Alex Ferguson did put pressure on refs by after match and pre match comments and was quite happy to pay the meagre fines the FA handed out. you could see the fear on ref's faces. Likewise Wenger and Morinho have regularly used this ungamely tactic . Wenger as recently as last week and again today because the result did not go their way. I remember the red side regularly surrounding the ref and then a decision going against one of our players. I would like to say that things have changed. but I fear they have not. We will see tomorrow.

I posted the above post yesterday and if like by magic, Mr Wenger has attacked refs over night with more inflamitory comments after the Man City game. He says they are protected like lions in aa zoo. I wonder how many 50:50 decisions go Arsenal's way over thenext 20 games? I would bet that not many go against Arsenal now until the endof the season. Mike Riley will be doing all he can to make sure Wenger has no more ammunition to publicly crititise refs that is for sure. And this is exactly what I was on about. Certain managers and clubs use this tactic very well and get the decisions in their favour. let's see what happens tonight. Iam not sure Liverpool have done this much in the past except for Benitez? So I am at a loss as to why they seemed to always get decisions in derby games? Any comments fellow Blues?

My opinion of the standard of officials has changed this season more so Degsy after seeing some very incompetent refereeing from Lee Mason to Michael Oliver and then Clattenburg last week.
I seriously do think that there is some underlying corruption issue to benefit the so called big sides.

I used Pawson as an example in my earlier post as he issued a yellow to Rojo for another dirty 2 footed lunge, yet yesterday sent off Vardy for a tackle that was reckless but he won the ball albeit after leaving the ground with 2 feet.
Now the rule states that yes it was a red, but why was it that Rojos wasnt?
The referees bottle big calls due to the influences the clubs and managers have in my opinion and its wrong and needs addressing.

Agreed bluegray87. I saw all 3 tackles and Vardys was the least severe. In fact he was pushed as he went into the tackle which caused him to "follow through". Rojo's both looked like dirty or late tackles. All adds to my point about refs. I don't agree that there is corruption, but I do believe they are intimidated by managers comments. and are quite willing to pay the 40 or 50k they are fined because if they win the league, the rewards are much greater.

Mike dean has given more penalties this calender year than clattenburg and moss put together. My money is firmly on one being awarded tomorrow.
The last game of ours he officiated was against Wigan and sent Duncan Ferguson off.

I have my tail up with referees and corruption and biased from F.A to field and the decision to allow a man from the Wirral to officiate a derby will leave them wide open to criticism if a game changing call is made.

This remember is the same man who had the 2006 cup final taken from him because Liverpool were involved, so what's changed?

Not his biggest fan tbh but I believe he is down as a Tranmere fan. I can see why the final was taken off him as the Wirral is too close when you're playing a team from the capital.
My biggest concern in regards to the ref is that he is a touch card happy, not the best attribute you want a ref to have in a derby game. Think he sent off 9 players last season, the highest tally in comparison to the other refs, and has shown red 3 times this season, joined by one other. Hope he doesn't show a yellow in the opening stages as it will stifle the game.
Anyone know if it is a rumour started on social media that his kids are red season ticket holders? Not sure if that would really mean anything even if it was true.

Think its social media rumours spud as its down that his son has a season ticket at anfield but then another poster states he has 2 daughters.
With the appointment of Dean as the official it would be best to stick with Barry on the bench.

Cheers for clarifying BG, I thought it would have originated on twitter or the likes. I think you may be right on keeping Barry on the bench. I think it may be better to play Holgate than Mori, the latter can be rash in the tackle at times, his tackle in a previous derby proves as much. We don't want to be down to ten men against that lot.

Think Holgate is a good shout especially with the pace and movement of their front 3.

I'd feel better with him in rather than Mori for this game. MH's composure would edge it, Mori gets involved in the occasion and gets too hyped. Not that bad an attribute to have but, taking into account the ref for the game, I'd rather have the safer option.

Totally agree spuds. Koeman must be 1 very frustrated man, we need 3 or 4 new players in January to shake it up going forward, we didn't have 1 shot on target in that 2nd half which is pathetic.

So Rojo escaped 2 red cards for 2 two floored lunges, one against Gueye and one at Palace against Zaha.
Fast forward to yesterday and Dawson the referee in the Palace v United game sends Jamie Vardy off for a 2 footed lunge.

This highlights the inconsistencies in these 'professional' officials displays in games.
My take on this may be controversial but i believe it is blatant fear and biased that the referees fail to make these correct decisions. They do not won't to upset 'the special one' but meek mannered Ranieri is alright to upset.

We have had corruption exposed with the Allardyce situation but there needs to be more done against calls that these so called professionals make or in ours and Palace case don't make.

The F.A don't have the backbone so maybe a separate panel of ex professionals and referees maybe. The pattern of both games that Utd should have played with 10.

The pattern of the game and result may have been different if these calls were correct or if retrospective punishment was allowed after the officials bottled it then Rojo would never have played against Palace anyways.
Sorry to go on but it still feels like the officials referee the game in favour of the name of the club rather than fairly and maybe it is time to follow rugby and have an unbiased video referee.

Against Utd I predicted 1-1. Against Watford I don't think I made a prediction. For Arsenal I predicted 2-1. Jamyness more than anything. Don't consider myself a top predictor or pundit.

Against the Reds I'm going for 3-3. Thrilling game with everything. Similar to Arsenal only more exciting end to end stuff. Players sent off, Managers getting involved etc.

Its building up to be a big one. Us after beating Arsenal and the Reds won 3-0 in their last match. Confidence will be high. Koeman went for it with his team selection against Arsenal. Can't see why he won't do the same against the Reds.

Monday night will be a real tester and good game. A draw at least is what we want. No place for losing.

COYB!

I see the clueless 1 has been spouting off again to the press about himself being made a scapegoat for Everton's problems. erm, I think not, just where do we start on that 1.not even going to waste my breathe, then there was the £10 million. disgraceful!

Reading about Moshiri lending Everton money to pay off long term dept and the fact that we had a loss of 24.3M pounds last year. I wonder that the loss was maybe higher than it would have been due to the change of managers. Did't we pay Southampton a significant sum when we made Koeman manager and paid Marinez a termination fee of about 10M pounds?

Maybe those "compensation" payments are in the current (2016-17) period and aren't in the 2015-16 figures ijust published. I imagine that the Stones and Bolasie transfers will be reported for the 2016-17 period. The debt repayment using Mr Moshiri's loan reportedly took place on/ after 31st May, so may well be part of the current (2016-17) figures.
