I live in the US and we have had Roberto Martinez as the Studio Analyst of ESPN. He has been absolutely fantastic and he is putting Everton on the map here in the US. As an Evertonian for 68 years since my father took me to my first game when I was 6, I can't tell you how proud I am of this manager. I hope he stays with us well beyond his five year contract. If Bill gives him the financial backing he deserves his knowledge of players on a global basis gives me confidence of a bright future,
Mike

{Ed025's Note - i agree mike..hes top notch mate..

Absolutely. I come from South Africa and he has been a pundit on Sky. Brilliant and everyone around him looks average when he is there.

Not a rumour but who would fancy Tim Cahill back what World Cup he is having what u think ED?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - great player...but that ship has sailed aspey mate..

18 Jun 2014 19:45:12
No! One world class goal does not make him good enough again all of a sudden.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love him back at the club but not as a player. I feel him and Big Dunc are the only icons/cult heroes we have had over the last 15 years. I think he is a natural winner and leader and I want his type of mentality running through out the club.
As a player, again he is a winner, never gives up and he still has that about him but the Prem would be way to quick for him now.

did we sell tim to soon?

{Ed025's Note - who?..

18 Jun 2014 17:41:35
He's on about Cahill Ed, he has just scored an absolute Worldy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - oh right...he asked to go so we let him, great servant for us..

In my opinion, he left at the right time for both us and him. A really good player for us back in the day and now his club career in the MLS (surely less demanding than playing for us in the Premier League) has helped him be best prepared for the World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very true sid..

I still love Tim Cahill now that he no longer plays for us. I wouldn't want him back as a player as I think the time was right when he left. However after seeing what he has done with the soccer schools in Australia, would love him back in some sort of coaching capacity. As we all know he bleeds blue like the rest of us.

BK has spoken recently about a lot of work to be done at Everton this summer. One of the first tasks has been to extend RM's contract to 5 years. BK has said that the club (the board) have put their complete trust in RM to take the club forward. In the meantime, Alan Irvine has left his job as Head of the Academy to become WBA head coach. Then there's the story that Alan Stubbs has been allowed to interview for the Hibernian manager's job. Is it just me putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, or - having had ample opportunity to assess the club's complete structure during his first year in charge - is RM now putting his preferred structure in place throughout the club. He already has his first-team staff - that came with him from Wigan - in place and it looks like he's putting his stamp on the other areas. Perhaps some of remaining DM regime - apart from Duncan Ferguson and Kevin Sheedy - just haven't come up to RM's expectations or were too stuck in the old DM ways. Anyone got a better-informed viewpoint?

I was thinking the same thing when I heard about stubbs

Agree0 Disagree0

Not aure about more informed but I think that the successful development of youth at Everton makes those responsible attractive to other clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Having watched Alan Irvine's interview on the official club site, I can now understand that it was a difficult choice for him to make - and him alone with no hidden club agenda - but that an opportunity to be head coach at a Premier League club was too good to turn down. He had only good things to say about RM.
Still not sure about Stubbs and how much he was really "into" the RM way of doing things. Is Stubbs rankled about not getting the manager's job here after DM - supposedly he was interviewed back then?

A few fresh rumours doing the rounds today lads. Some reports saying we've had a cheeky 6m bid for Banega turned down. Sounds like agent talk to me. Could be we're doing battle with the s**** for Stephane Mbia who's available on a free from QPR too. From what I remember of his season in the Prem - he was dodgy. Ongoing rumours about Tello from Barce and Perisic too - both seem to have some substance to them and mre the sort of player we want at Goodison next season.

Once our Benega bid increases to 8mil he will sign. Tello will join on loan after the World Cup. We are set to offer 15mil increasing to 17 on appearances for Cerci due to Chelski wanting daft money for Rom.

I see that today's poll about FIFA is currently overwhelmingly "yes" with one solitary "no" vote - how gratifying to see that Sepp Blatter visits our site ;-)

Boys, last time I come over to the UK the season before last I made it to the Chelsea game at Goodison and it was the best thing I've ever done.

I'm coming over again in September and seriously excited to see the Anfield derby on while I'm there. I know tickets will be at a premium but can any help me get a ticket/suggest ways to get one?!

Cheers

Caulker to cover aging Distan.
Tello on loan to replace Defeliou.
We will keep Barry.
Big bid for Bony.
Daley Blind probably out of our reach.
I can't help but think a Barcelona boy will be coming, judging by Roberto's popularity with them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's four players (Caulker, Barry, Tello and Bony) - what about the other two or three that make up the six or seven players that RM has been reported as wanting to add to the squad?

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Navas, Martins Indi, De Vrij, Banega, Batshuayi, Tello, Lassogga, Pardo, Perisic and the other 600 players we have be linked to ;)

Why don't we go for divorick origi from Belgium?
he is very young, he plays for Lille, maybe we can offer for him, and he is playing the World Cup
6mill.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why? Just for the fact he played for belgium yesterday.had anyone even heard of him before yesterdays game.

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't do much scoring for Lille though, only 5 goals from 30 odd appearance's last season.
