Apart from the obvious of getting into Europe. I think it's really important that we try and stay in or around the top four to the next window, as I believe it could have a huge impact on the quality of player we could attract. we are on our way back, just need to build on what's been started. Oh and a new ground would be the icing on the cake.

Negredo did an Andy Gray v Watford thought that was a goal on the day although some distance away so have to believe yesterdays was also . What comes around . comes around but we won that’s the main thing.

Disagree Jonno, even though the rules have changed since 84, Andy Gray headed the ball and not the goalkeepers arm, Had Negrado headed the ball fair play, but he clearly headed the goalkeepers arm to assist it into the net.

Here is your horror scope for today: A liason with a small dark man will ensure that things that looked loose will now be more secure and positive. A strong Welshman will come into your life providing strength and security. Feelings of togetherness will increase and it will be a jovial time for friends in particular. Lucky colour: Blue!

In these days of transient Managers RK will be off like a shot to Arsenal should they come calling. On his effect on the Club, it has been nothing short of amazing considering the work he has had to do. I also believe it is no blip and that as his ideas take hold we can only get better. One note of caution we have not played any of the big boys yet.

The Players were rocking; the grand old lady was rocking yesterday. Fantastic start; let's take it a game at a time and see how far we can all go this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - it is a great start zulu and we look very solid at the back which pleases me no end, if we are still thereabouts come january then europe is a definite possibility if we can strengthen the team, i still think we are 1 or 2 short mate but if ross and kev get their act together you never know.

18 sep 2016 17:50:47
i thought the atmosphere was crap. no songs same old boring songs from the 80"s its embarresing. if ross leaves we are left with nothing. just my opinion.

Rememver Yannick Bolasie played for us in the 80's? Buy the ticket and take the ride, RoyalPaul. don't be so negative!

18 Sep 2016 18:20:19
not being negative about the blues, I am buzzing with them its just that since fraud left the songs have stopped. ally ally ally o wots happened to that one.

didnt realise Roberto owns the copyrights along with the school of science one which could still be sung. like I said if ross ever left we would have nothing to sing its embarrassing. good job we have cup games then at least we can sing about going to Wembley.

didn't realise sayin there is no songs to sing was being negative about the team. when you av a spare minute think of all the songs that get sung at goodison. we avin even got one for our great manager but we had one for the fraud. all we av done is scrape the barrel with the old 80"s songs. its enbarrasing.

This will get everyone laughing. but you do sound a bit negative royalpaul. Can't you see that things are starting to change and all us Blues are on a roller coaster ride. There may be ups and downs. but its better than the constant downs we were starting to suffer from Martinez! Everyone will tell you how negative I was the last 2 seasons. but now. get on board with us mate and enjoy the ride!

i am simply saying that we need new songs. i am thrilled with everton at the moment i have never been so happy. how about some new songs? then maybe when i am on board enjoying the ride we will have new songs to sing.

I think we are all so relieved that after what started as a promising adventure with Mr Martinez which actually turned out to be a nightmare. that Mr Koeman has come in and not only stopped the slide to the Championship, but introduced a type of football that excites, entertains and gives so far positive results. The aimless possession retaining garbage of the last season nowbeen replaced by fast action, goal threat entertainment.

18 Sep 2016 22:29:48
I love the fact that I've seen the negativity completely leave you Degsy! Get well soon Johnny89. I think that what really made me happy was that even when Boro scored, I wasn't worried. I knew we would win. The real test will be when we play the big teams, but for now I'll take being 2nd in the league! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Sep 2016 09:10:18
It was one of the tests I had in my mind Blue Tommy. I did wonder how we would respond if we went 1 nil down and the opposition parked the bus! Passed that test. onto the next one. away games at "top 4" teams. Must not lose and keep beating the "lower" teams. That way winning the league is even possible. I don't for one minute think we are good enough or lucky enough for that. But neither did Leicester City. I do think Man City will romp it easily, but if we are still winning games at Christmas. who knows what we can achieve?

It's always good to be an Evertonian, but especially so at the moment. Improvement from last season wouldn't have been difficult, however despite the relatively kind opening fixtures and that Koeman didn't really get Southampton motoring until well into last September, to be sitting second is well above my expectations.

I'm really impressed with Koeman. He doesn't suffer fools and keeps it simple. I'm loving the organisation, game management and improved fitness and the speed of play. Pace hurts teams and we have it.

Most feel we should have made more signings and may be a bit exposed should we pick up a few injuries. I'm hoping we're still in the mix in a few months time and can strengthen in Jan when we will be a more attractive proposition than we were in the summer. Could do without African Nations Cup though.

Unused sub's yesterday Mori, Holgate, Robles and Lennon. Not bad at all. 3 of them were regulars last season and can't get into the team now. Shows how much stronger we are.

Koeman as I thought is making a big difference. Even without the players we signed he would of improved things a lot. His persona alone is a lot better and that rubs off on players.

Even though challenging games has yet to come we are in a very good position to take on the very best in the premiership. Not getting carried away. Enjoying the fantastic start and long may it continue.

NBTB, I guess you have a point. Especially with the form of the full backs and Barry in particular. but so far Gana has been the player for me. Its like having 2 James McCarthys. one who does all the tackling and chasing back. but another who presses in the middle and when he gets the ball wants to either take it to the forwards or look for a penetrating pass. I admired McCarthy when he first signed but his last 2 seasons were poor. Bolasi also adds much more strength than Lennon and Williams too compared with Stones (although I still feel he is a great player) . and the keeper seems good too. except for yesterdays goal. but that was a foul in reality.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Sep 2016 18:05:49
Yes Degsy, I just don't like this negativity towards McCarthy. The whole squad had a bad 2 years previously. Not just him. Imho McCarthy is being made out to be a scapegoat. He'll improve along with everyone else once he gets the chance. No doubt.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Sep 2016 18:28:30
I've never really been sold on McCarthy because he never really offers anything other than a tackle. He's almost like a centre half but with poor positional sense.

However, he's had Martinez as his manager for a long time and maybe what he needs is Koeman to show him his way. I don't want to judge him without giving him a chance. He seems like a clever lad and I'm sure he can improve under this management.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think hes a good squad player john, and we will need him when things like ACON and injuries kick in mate..

18 Sep 2016 21:08:20
You took the words out of my mouth there BlueJohnUns in your second paragraph. Very few players if any are sold to me under the age of 26-27. Any player under 25 is still developing in my eyes and can only get better. There are a few exceptions to this of course but I'm talking generally.

McCarthy would benefit enormously from a change of manager. He's what 25? Spent the last 4 years under Martinez. 3 with Everton and one or maybe more with Wigan if I'm not mistaken. The poor chap knows no better than the spuffer. Koeman is the real deal and could aid his development far better.

I tend to hold my judgement on players until they hit their mid to late 20's as this is generally their peak.

That's why I can't stand the abuse that is given to Barkley. He's still so young. He's learning and improving at every game. Don't get me wrong I get frustrated with him as much as anyone.

But imho patience is needed with these young players. One thing I agree with Degsy is Stones will be top class. Give him 5 or 6 years and we'll see the real John Stones. Same with Barkley imho.

{Ed025's Note - players like mustafi, dier, and pogba prove your point there NBTB..

Another good win and performance yesterday. I'll start off by saying congratulations to Barry who was outstanding yesterday. I will also say sorry to him as well as I was writing him off this season but he's playing his best fottball in an Everton shirt at the moment.

100% improvement from Barkley after last week was good to see and if anyone in the squad had any thoughts of dropping off, well, think again. Coleman had his best game so far this season and Gana was astounding.

Our forward play is looking much better with Bolaisi in the side but the options available mean if something isn't working we can change things up with three or four different options. I can't remember a bench like it at Everton.

I thought Enna done well when he came on. He's got a good touch and control but has bags of energy and when you have your front men pressing the ball he fits the bill.

When you press front the front you make it easier at the back and we are doing this superbly at the moment. At no point yesterday did I feel panic setting in and even more pleasing is that at 3-1 we grew a brain and instead of pushing for more with a gung ho style we attacked with control and without leaving us exposed at the back. That defensive mindset has been fundamental to our good start to the season.

Finally Koeman. He starts off by having a go due to not starting well. We keep saying how refreshing it is to not have the pretty picture RM use to paint. Well none of yhat from Koeman. He does it in such a way though that makes YOU want to raise your standards and has nothing to do with his. He is changing the players AND fans expectations of what an Everton performance should be. Tough, no fear, high tempo, intelligent, pressing, precise and energetic. This guy is going to make us great again if we all keep backing him. That goes for the board, players and us fans.

That stadium best come soon because you'll have people on that church roof again just to get a glimps of the champions!

100% correct post BlueJohnUns. I couldn't have said it better. They had noshots on target too. worth mentioning. Also Gana looks great going forwards compared with McCarthy and his sideways passing. something I moaned about for 3 years. lol.

Agree2 Disagree3

18 Sep 2016 13:22:48
Good post BlueJohnUns and obviously agree with it all. The whole team and squad is getting a lift from Koemans influence. McCarthy no doubt would have improved under his different style, tactics and persona really. He would be at least a very good squad player. The squad will improve over time but I wouldn't rule him out for seasons to come yet.

I'm eating 2 lovely pieces of humble pie. They are small one's but still delicious. Coleman, I suggested Holgate should of been kept in the starting line up and make Coleman fight for it back. I didn't doubt Coleman but thought it would help Holgate progress. I was wrong, Coleman's influence is getting back to what it was at his peak and hopefully he continues that true the season. Small pie but still eaten.

Barry, what an absolute legend. RM annoyed me last season when he said Barry is one of the best England midfielders ever. It brought unnecessary bad publicity for Barry. Barry always comes across as a humble professional compared to most players today. Never hits the headlines much but does his talking on the pitch.

IMHO one of the most if not they most underrated England midfielder. With underrated the key word. I didn't think Barry wasn't up for it but doubted his ability to last the year. I know its early days but he is doing fantastic and could last the season. He's certainly doing better than I thought. Long may it last also. So another small pie for me.

Still the over all improvement in things I don't need to eat pies for. Koeman is proving his worth and is a top class manager who definitely has the potential to bring trophies to Goodison. Hopefully he's with us for a long time to come.
