I wasn't joking Vialli has been at Goodison today.

He can do no wrong in my eyes, after all he single handedly kept us up in 1998 by scoring those goals which sent Bolton down on the last day of the season instead of us.
Never thought I'd hear 40,000 blues singing the name of a player playing 200 miles away for a different club.

First post. Gianluca Vialli has been at Goodison today for over two hours with Robert Elstone. Don't know if it's a replacement for Martinez or Lukaku.

{Ed002's Note - Luca Vialli is a lovely man, I always get a hug when I see him but I fear he is not the ideal replacement for Lukaku.}

19 Apr 2016 22:45:28
I also saw Ravinelli who is going to replace Lukaku next season!

Met him in Munich last September in a bar/restaurant in Marienplatz called the Andechser. My mates german girlfriend is from Dusseldorf and a fan she pointed him out, since it was my lads a birthday (and he's a red I know black sheep of the family lol) I asked him to sign a bier mat, no problem he said what's your boys name I told him and he signed it "Kloppo" when he asked where are you from I mentioned Liverpool and said You might be their next manager, and patted him on the shoulder. Ironically a few weeks later he was) . Could of given me the heads up! Anyway point being the guy is very charismatic and chatted away with the people in the bar, about fussball. By the way Bayern were playing Mainz his old team. (they lost)

{Ed002's Note - He normally signs things Klipperty.}

Speculation as to whom we might sign is futile,
The new manager, whoever it is, will have his own ideas on who comes or goes.

I see Martinez calling for fans to be behind the team!
I am always behind the team but what is driving me insane is the inability for the manager to get the most out of this team and to throw away so many points because he seems unable to manage out a match! At least under Moyes we were viewed as overachievers not underachievers!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

19 Apr 2016 21:05:28
If ever there was a Manager made for one Club it was Moyes for us. I do not blame the fella when he had the opportunity to go to a bigger Club but as he found out he was not Fergie and Utd even now is in Fergies image. Roberto on the other hand allowed himself to be built up by the media and pundits to be a better Manager than he actually is.

Bill is willing to see the best in anyone and unfortunately that coupled with his renowned loyalty has unfortunately put us in the position we are now in. In short it has been a combination of many factors. We will see what we shall see but for now we must accept that Mr Martinez is going nowhere and it is time now more than ever we need to get behind this Team and try to give them the confidence to finish as well as they can.

I was speaking to people in work earlier but people are saying Baines is finished now Pienaar isn't playing. I agree they had a special playing bond, but it must be noted how many different players have played in front of our left back this season.

Bobby has used (to the best of my memory) Barkley, Naismith, Deulofeu, Mirallas, Kone, Cleverly and Oviedo on the left wing, often switching game to game. How is anyone playing left back for us supposed to develop a cohesive relationship and understanding with the player in front of him if they are constantly being rotated? Never mind the fact that we have used 3 different players at left back this season too.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

19 Apr 2016 15:15:31
I don't think he is finished either Tom, injuries and the issues you stated don't exactly help.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Apr 2016 13:38:19
What I would give for Naismith back at the club instead of Niasse. Someone with a bit of passion and how he understood to break up play when we have the lead by getting easy niggly fouls.

We got great money for him don't get me wrong but we would have a few more points on the board with him than without.

We've got some great kids at the club but players like Osman, Pienaar and Naismith when we got that lead or needed to take the sting out of a game was to go down and get easy fouls. It stops the momentum of the opposition.

Osman though as we saw on Saturday has no longer got that extra yard in his head and the same goes for Pienaar.

We don't have anyone left who does as Barry tends to give fouls away rather than get them and that goes for Besic and McCarthy as well. Barkley tries to stay on his feet too much and Mirallas doesn't get the ball enough. Ged dives too much so never gets decisions and Lennon is a bit like Barkley in that he stays on his feet too much.

It's a part of the game that we just don't know how to do it.

Let's hope he recovers from his wrist injury soon!

I don't have an issue with him and to be honest he might be a good signing, eventually. My point is about having the right kind of experienced players who know how to control a game and relieve the pressure.

Thank you in advance I really do appreciate your help.

While sitting in the bath yesterday tea time (toooo much info he he)
I was listening to Gough on TALK SPORT and it was FRIGHTENING.
They were talking to and about VILLA about the last two seasons and how all the supporters could clearly see all the mounting problems but the board choose to ignore it . They went on to say how this time last season VILLA were heading to a cup final, all the fans knew it was a smoke screen, that the following season, things would become far worse.
I JUST HOPE WHAT HAPPENED THERE IS NOT REPEATED AT OUR BELOVED CLUB.
Its history now that the Villa board kept faith with the manager till it was virtually impossible for the new man to do anything about it.
I would love to be able to send a copy of it to our board.
In fact I am going to photograph this and pray I am not putting it on here this time next year.

As I put in my post on the "other" page since the end of September we have only beaten the teams currently in the bottom 3 and stoke in the league. That's 7 months of football. This isn't a blip or drop in form this is serious.

19 Apr 2016 13:04:32
And I don't want to sound like I am telling you so. but I have been going on and on about lack of creativity in midfield. especially the amount of goals being contributed from that dept. Some come back to me saying Barcelona this and that and they only have 3 main goalscorers. but it is a fact that Barkley and Lukaku account for most of our goals so if they misfire, or get injured, or lose form, or get marked out of a game. or heaven forbid. leave us. then we really are in big trouble. Look at last season when we went 11 games without a win. Lukaku got injured and then lost form. We had Kone up front who I think has scored 6 in 3 seasons. He is a center forward! Our midfield is worse. We have Barry with 3 goals in 93 games. We have McCarthy with 4 goals in 85 games. We have Besic with no goals in 31 games. We have Cleverly with 1 goal in 17. That is a grand total of 8 goals in 153 games. Every succesful team needs goals from midfield. Every average team needs goals from midfield. only relegation teams don't.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Apr 2016 13:49:31
Thought we had made some progress the other day Degsy but you've gone back to repeating yourself again. The amount of goals Besic and Barry et al score is not the root of the problem. The defence leaking goals left right and centre is the major problem. I do however agree that there is a lack of creativity in the team and we could score even more goals.

The passion on show really gets u going, flying into tackles trying different things in attack, they have one home game left against Leicester so come on down watch a real blues team play. The more I watch them the more I think unsworth should be given the top job next season.

I am somewhat confused over RM's latest rambling about the Niasse issue.
1. If he had a serious wrist injury that would impair his ability to play for a long period of time, how did he pass a medical?
2. Although I know the Russian league has a break in December how can a professional athletes fitness be so bad that we are being told he will not be fit enough for the premier league until next season, surely he would have played again in Russia?
Why would the club allow the Manager to spent £13.5m in this case and not wait until the summer?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Apr 2016 12:08:21
He's had 4 months to get fit so not sure how much more time you need. God knows what he's going to be like after three months of preseason.

As for the wrist injury. Is he kidding? Lineker played with a broken wrist and a plaster cast on.

Further to the above he won player of the season in Russia so must have summit about him. Seems very odd it's not as if he's a knacker also he was playing with said wrist injury in Russia! Very odd.
