Rm keeping his friends happy. Joel and galloway come in and do a brilliant job soon as baines is fit straight back in and on set pieces. And howard back when its a premier league game its a joke and jagielka will go straight back in all players that played today plus jags are laughing there head off because they know even if they have a poor game there straight back in.

Agree with Joel and Galloway treatment but would bring Jags and McCarthy back in straight away.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2015 02:37:38
Well said, will be a joke when McCarthy gets shoved back in. He offers nothing, he's never been able to go forward but he's stopped tackling now. Just a poor mans Jordan Henderson. And I mean that in the nicest way, I mean, at least Henderson has some footballing ability.

Where do I start after that? Poor all round today against a lack lustre Leicester team. That said, fair play to them, they are top of the league and grinding out results, they deserve to be where they are. I could go on and slate every player for one thing or another after today's performance but I won't bother. I'll direct my anger at the manager and his inability to get the best out of our young and talented squad.

I actually hate all of this passing it across the back line. It rarely gets us anywhere although it makes the possession stats look like we are battering teams. Subs should have been made earlier, maybe right after their 2nd goal, not wait until they hit a third. Our play is predictable and, not for the first time this season, indeed under RM's tenure, we have no plan b. Can't see us getting anywhere near the euro places if we continue to plug away with this tippy tappy football. I've said it before but I will repeat myself, there have been games where I've sat through the drivel under RM and actually wanted to be nowhere near Goodison Park. Today was another one of them.

In fact, the highlight of the entire day was pushing cars and vans off the makeshift grass car park near the bingo hall. Sad but true. Ed0025, I was almost aboard that bus of yours but I've now bailed! Time to look at the manager, his tactics are making a decent squad look nothing less than ordinary.

19 Dec 2015 20:52:22
We have certain problems that need addressing:
1. keeper. everyone is commenting on here so surely RM must see that although Howard is a decent shot stopper, he is woeful in the air and has no command in his box.
2. any team that concedes 3 goals will not win many games. obvious. and linked to my first point.
3. RM has signed and continues to sign players who do not score sufficient goals for their positions. I quote Kone, Cleverly, Barry, McCarthy, Deulafeu, Lennon, McGeady and Besic. These may all be very good footballers, butif playing to their potential, should be in the first team and giving a goal return. I looked it up and they have scored 6 between them and 3 of those were Kone's hatrick. That's 8 players potentially playing 160 games with a return of 6 goals. That brings me to Lukaku who has an amazing return and without him we would be struggling big time. I am not very good at getting my point across and for the last 2 seasons have been trying to point out that players like Naismith, Mirrallas, Fellaini, Pienaar and Osman all regularly chipped in with between 5 and 10 goals each. That 25 goals plus from just 5 squad members and probably nearer 30 or 40 goals. Of course Osman and Pienaar are past it and Felli has gone, but to leave Mirrallas and Naismith out when the other players do not score goals is criminal. It also looks like Naismith and Mirrallas are on their way out which fits in exactly with what I have been trying to tell people. Eventually we will have a team that relies almost 100% on Lukaku to get the majority of goals and when he loses form (like last season) or gets injured or Arsenal or Man Utd come in for him we will be relegation material. I can hear the moans about my post again because I mentioned Osman. but I am on about a policy of replacing goalscoring players with ones that have never scored goals in their careers. I accept that Deulofeu is young and will get a few, but in all honesty the other players returns have never been wonderful or absolutely crap. So to summarise we have a keeper who let's in at one end and a team that relies almost 100% on one single player at the other.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2015 21:16:52
Agree completely, Coleman is another who has stopped scoring. This is what annoys me when people call Lukaku poor, he gets no service and is easily the best striker I've seen in an Everton shirt. Though Deulofeu does at least get assists, I have no idea what the rest do going forwards.

Though I would note Besic, McGeady (however bad) , Lennon and Cleverley have hardly played this season. We are done when Lukaku goes or gets injured, we made a big error not signing a solid back up striker like Austin, Remy (despite injuries) or Batman (Batshuayaiawhatshisbloodyname).

Kone is a good player to have against Sunderland and Villa where he can get right up top with Lukaku. Against Leicester, Palace and other teams where he has to stay out wide a bit more and be more disciplined he becomes less of a threat and more of a hindrance.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Dec 2015 01:47:47
Kone never shoots. He's always looking for an extra touch. He plays exactly the way the team played last year.
There is a time when an attacking player needs to just hit it!
On a different note did anybody else laugh when Kev took that corner and it went over everyone and straight out of place. At least he beat the first man.

I have always supported Roberto but I am finding harder and harder to do so Kone and Howard should of been dropped a long time ago yet Roberto insists on playing them what's annoying is for the fourth game on the run we have been the better team and not come away with 3 points it could be time for Roberto to leave.
One more thing can all the Barkley haters do one listening to he phone in on my way home after the match I was embarrassed by so called blues including the major Joe Anderson calling for Barkley to be dropped No sold I think he is doing well considering he is playing deeper and second fiddle to del boy.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

20 Dec 2015 01:51:22
I'm tired of hearing that we were the 'better team'. I'm of the opinion that if we don't score more goals than our opponents we were not the better team. The history books show nothing about looking easy on the eye. They show 3 points from 12 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2015 08:00:48
Also don't buy into this better team lost rubbish. If the other team beats you then we can hardly be the better team. Good point in an earlier post about playing players that look good on the eye but do not contribute and leaving players like Naismith, Osman out that regularly contribute goals. Have said this till blue in the face, but much rather play hard ugly football and consistently win 1-0. Football is a sport and I watch it for its competitiveness, Entertainment I take the Wife to watch a show, cinema or night club.

. 'muppet martinez' has a certain ring to it doesn't it? This season so far for me has been a big under-achievement in the Premier league and we should sitting much higher than mid-table with the quality and strength of squad we currently have - I lay the blame at the door of the manager, the buck stops with him, there can no more excuses!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2015 20:09:30
Although it is hard watching this. This squad is the best we've had since the 80's and we had to watch Mike Walker and Walter Smith's squads. Both martinez and moyes bought or brought through good players or kids to make this squad potentially very good.
The problem is that this season is so unpredictable and surprising. When we can only draw at Norwich and they beat utd and we draw with Bournemouth and they beat Chelsea.

I hope we get a new keeper or Joel and play mirallas instead of Kone and get Jags back.

As I said in a post the other day. We need to fasten the seatbelts and hold on for the ride. Only 6 points from top 4.
Gotta think positive or I'll cry after 3 points from 4 games which looked easy at start of season.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Dec 2015 20:45:39
Yep agree Zakii frighting thing is our top players will realise this and will jump ship, can't say I blame them as the way we are playing will be lucky to be in the top 10 this season.

19 Dec 2015 20:51:29
The bloke is a coach without Management skills but plenty of waffle which our Bill ate up. He has to go and yes I would replace him with Moyes, Moyes with this Squad would have us constant top 6. He has to go. I hope that he or his advisors read our comments.

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Dec 2015 21:22:16
duncansmum, half this great squad would be benched under Moyes. Stones (too risky on the ball), Deulofeu (not hard working enough), Lukaku (not hard working enough or a lamppost). That's our 3 best players along with Barry who would definitely be benched immediately under Moyes.

Agree3 Disagree3

19 Dec 2015 22:57:45
Totally disagree Swan. Barry would be first player on Moyes team sheet. The other 3 you mention would still be playing under Moyes also. What would change is the way they play and the style they play.

For the better obviously. One of the things Moyes mastered at the end of his time at Everton was making it hard for teams to score against Everton

Badly need that sort of approach again. Build from the back. Make it tough for the other team and take our chances whenever we can.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Dec 2015 00:19:40
Didn't say Barry would be dropped, my post does make it seem like that, I meant him and those 3 are our best players.

Moyes' Football involved long balls, do you know what Football is opposite to those 3 players' strengths? Long ball. Could half Lukaku's goal tally each season. Moyes refused to buy flair players during his time here, same at Utd, doesn't play players that don't put a shift in all game and chase shadows.

Hence the football being some of the worst I've ever seen. Moyes doesn't rate Stones, as we now know thanks to a scout who had to beg Moyes to get him as Moyes "didn't think he was good enough for the Premier League". Moyes did make us hard to beat, unless we played a top 6 team, to which we rolled over, every time, for 10 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2015 08:04:07
Yep Swan maybe so but do you doubt that even with what is left Moyes would have us down where we are now. Moyes was a ditherer but compared with this bloke he was a bloody genius.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Dec 2015 09:20:47
Well said duncansmum. Moyes was a genius at getting the best out of the players he had at his disposal by having them very well organised.

Seems a very common theme on here that people think Martinez is under performing with this squad.

19 Dec 2015 19:02:11
Frustrated to say the least but tbh I expected that after seeing the teamsheet. Leicester are not world beaters but what they are is an organised well drilled team that plays to there strengths. Us on the other hand are a predictable easy to set up against and counter side. Our keeper has no command our midfield Barry aside all tend to go missing and offer no protection to the back 4 and our flair player Gerry spits his dummy out more times than my baby amd rhen goes missing when the going gets tough. We have some quality players but dobt have the right man in charge to organise them and get the best out of what's at his disposal. Kone should have been dropped after last weeks performance and Mirrallas given a start, Howard should also be dropped as hos decision making and distribution are poor to say the least. Would I sack the manager at the moment no as there is no real stand out replacement but what I would do is have him sat down and told what we are witnessing is not good enough and needs addressing as we are slowly drifting away from the top 6 and alarmingly closer to the bottom 6. Anyways fair play to Leicester they took there chances and that's why they are were they are and we are were we are because we didnt, that and a bit of luck from the officials.

I love the way kasper schmeichel takes charge of the penalty box attacks the ball with conviction punches the ball with desperation and you wonder why Leicester are on top. We have the complete opposite a goalkeeper who second guesses himself, is a deer in the headlights, has zero conviction, refuses to attack the ball, get caught in no mans land yet Martinez plays him. Then we have Kone, what does he do. Mirallas should be starting before him and I seriously think Cleverley is poor with his passing and either besic or Gibson should be playing before him. But I can bet my life on it, next week we will be playing the same starting line up. Ps not getting stuck into baines yet as he is coming back from a long term injury but he needs to improve. Also footnote same time last year we had 21 points and we were playing awful.

Where would we be in the league with a half decent manager in charge. Nice to see Kone turning in consistent performances again, consistently terrible. I think even Arouna's wife and kids where probably screaming for him to be subbed.

Was anyone else a little disappointed with the ref today? If he'd have sent Howard off, I'd have seen that as a positive result. 3 games with out flapper would of certainly been a prospect.

congrats to Rom, shame he will leave in the summer, I love that he plays for us and he will be one of the worlds best in the future. he should leave for his own good, despite having the best squad I've seen at EFC. The current manager will always ensure we underperform.

Thought Barkley was good today along with Barry. Well done to Mirallas also who showed the hesitant Kone how to take Advantage of an opportunity.

I heard Mourinho is available. Mind you at this stage I think Brendan Rodgers would do a better job than this clown currently in the dugout.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Dec 2015 17:57:33
Many posters write about this being the best squad we've had in years, but reckon that the manager is unable to get them to get results. This puts us in a Catch-22 situation imho: it's this manager who's brought in most of our better-performing players or has given our talented youngsters an opportunity - would another manager (one realistically available to us) have done that? The problem is can he get these players to perform consistently? Here's a completely daft idea: maybe we should have RM as head of recruitment and player development, but have someone else to set up the team formation and the tactics. Make RM the technical director for the entire club and take a punt on someone like big Dunc as first-team coach. How desperate, misguided and downright stupid is that knee-jerk reaction? :- (

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Dec 2015 18:06:45
Couldn't agree more. top 6 at the very least but top 4 for me wouldn't be out of our reach.

Sid you are correct and that's the unfortuanate thing. Martinez has offered positive recruitment and I share concerns if he left we would lose our talents. However, what use is it having these talents when we can't get any results. I'd give Martinez less of a hard time if he admitted and recognised his mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, but most people learn from them.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Dec 2015 18:25:38
I'm not sure I'd want RM to go just yet - and neither am I sure that I'd want DM to come back.
However, the impression I got with DM was that he'd taken the club as far as he could with the financial restraints he worked under. He always had to sell players - not only to raise funds for incoming transfers, but also because the players wanted to move to clubs with better prospects of regular Champions League football and trophies. Now - as long as we stay in the Premier League and as long as the television money keeps rolling in - we're under no financial pressure to sell players. Of course, without us getting Champions League football we'd still be likely to lose our best players under any manager, but we should still be able to afford a squad that could challenge if set up with the right formation, tactics and attitude.
If we could blend the best aspects of RM and DM, then we would have a real chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Dec 2015 18:28:40
never mind top 4, we should and could be top of the league by now only for the clueless stubborn fraud of a manager. Sick of him and the bullshit he comes out with week after week. Two wins outta our last ten games five league wins all season, I want him gone now.

19 Dec 2015 17:04:39
Rubbish result because of a rubbish performance (apart from Barry) and mainly down to rubbish management (RM totally indecisive with substitutions) . Leicester were ordinary, but they clearly know how to get a resullt - whereas we clearly don't :- (
The table doesn't lie - for all our flashes of exciting attacking play in many matches, we are a mid-table side (and maybe, just maybe, we'll finish in the top half) .

I hate coming on this site to drip there really shouldn't be any need, the same thing gets said every week, Baines can't for the life of himself beat the first man on a corner kick, defensively what he brings to the table I don't know, and that clown between the sticks cost us the game today pure and simple, I actually like Martinez style of play but this relentless, repetitive, stubbornness to change liabilities has cost us any chance of Europe, no doubt I'll be back after the Newcastle game saying the same thing, in fact around this time last season when Newcastle done us I was calling for Martinez to go, what's new?

Playing Leicester today brings back memories. I finally persuaded my mother to let me attend an away game on my own. I was a fourteen year old and it was the 1953-54 season. You guessed it, Leicester away. It was the 20th March 1954, attendance was 39,046 and it was a 2-2 draw with Dave Hickson scoring both. That season we came second in the old Division 2 and of course Leicester came first. Hopefully today we can add the third goal and win 3-2, I can't stand the thought of another draw,
