Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

01 Jan 2016 21:23:48
. well, I'm hoping 2016 will bring us a good financial takeover at efc and usher in a new capable manager who can push us on towards that top 4 where we should be with the quality of players we currently have - even Lukaku has stated today he is somewhat bemused by our league position and according to various reputable sources numerous members of our squad have personally questioned the clueless 1s defensive tactics! There seems to be a lot of talk on here about Moyes and him coming back - for me, that would be a backward step, yes he's defensively solid but for me he is the king of mediocre achievements and what's more there's a good old saying in football that you shouldn't go back to a club for a second time. for me, a radical appointment is needed - someone like a Frank De Boer, Klinsmann, Koeman, Ranieri, Rikjaerd, Ancelotti. anyone but Moyes please! Happy new year all!

Frank de boer has welcomed interest from Swansea, albeit he is basically saying as a stepping stone but he would be worth a shout

I am also with you both. let's all drop the Moyes v Martinez stuff. Martinez is our manager but I did put an interesting stat below on the evergoing saga that can be summed up like this: Walter Smith balanced the books by buying and selling players but left us with a terrible squad. He was slightly in profit selling 4 million pounds worth than he spent on players. Moyes did even better selling a few million pounds more than Walter Smith had and left us with a much improved squad. Martinez has so far overspent by 40 million so will need to sell soon to balance the books if the board continue with their policy on players. Make you own minds up as to whether you think the squad is 40 million pounds better now than when Moyes left?

With everyone going on about moyes or Martinez I think if it did come Martinez getting the Shepards hook I would like us to go for Eddie Howe seems like a good manager attacking football and doesn't blurt out these big words what don't relate to any question being asked or actually mean anything in his interviews. They might of been funny when he was first learning English but he needs to give them a rest and turn up match day in a tracksuit haha.

Look mate Moyes or Martinez give me Moyes any day I hate what he done but his last 2 seasons in charge we were playing nice football and could gring out a result that's for sure Chelsea bored everybody to death winning the league last year but do there fans care no and why should they results is priority.

02 Jan 2016 00:29:51
NBTB, so, if you don't want Moyes back, you have no common sense? .

Stef, the last 2 seasons involved long ball after long ball to Fellaini.

02 Jan 2016 10:19:56
Golden rule never go back! I think Mr Moye's knows that, in respect to moving forward, should we get the investors or new owners in place then I would imagine that finances will improve and the profile of a new manager would be increased, so no longer the trial up and coming managers but someone with a history of success to hopefully take us on to the next level!

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 14:40:18
Swan, I never said that your jumping to conclusions. I said Stef had common sense.

I totally agree with his mentality of having a tight defence. Which Moyes and Chelsea had last season. Chelsea grind out plenty of results and won the league.

Would you be against that if it won you a title? Every season the team with the tightest and more organised defence win the title. Is that coincidence?

I don't think so. Its simple, have a good organized defence and build the team from that. Teams won plenty of times using that method.

Look at all Mourinho won in different countries. One common thing in all his teams. A well organised defence.

Don't start on about Moyes again. I'm done with that.

Forgetting about Howard for a moment, yes I wish we could, but I can't understand the Martinez position with Joel. He took him to Wigan and then brought him to us. Yes he looked a little dodgy when he first played for us but that was probably due to nerves. Since then whenever he has played he has been pretty good IMHO. He is 25 years of age so maturing and at six foot five inches is a good height for a goalkeeper, so why not give him a chance? Let's face it he couldn't be worse than Howard and with a little luck could be a lot better.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

01 Jan 2016 18:54:41
It make no sense to me too. Robles gets League Cup opportunities and performs well, good swift distribution, okay with crosses then sits on the bench and sees what us fans see. I'm sure he must also hear that we are linked with other keepers. The signal this sends is that we are looking to replace Howard, who is contracted to 2017 as far as I know. Yet Robles is not viewed as a capable replacement. Not a great confidence booster ahead of a semi final.

01 Jan 2016 20:55:58
I don't understand it either.

Duncan Ferguson manager for the Day, Martínez stuck at a crossroad (can't make his mind up whether to go right or left)
Robles playing instead of Howard, Kone (lost in car with Matinez) so Mirallas on, and we win 4-0 yessssssssss.

No Manager makes a success of going back to a club. So why Moyes is even being remotely spoken of is beyond me! Boring football and he ruins every Striker he's had, Lukaku will be chasing everything at the cost of scoring goals. Wasnt a success before so why should he be now, daft really!

Not just that but someone said a few weeks ago he would improve Deulofeu and Lukaku by giving them no restrictions and allowing Del Boy to only worry about attacking. Oh yeah, if they could name one player Moyes let get away with that, absolute joke, he would force Deulofeu to be the next Kilbane or sell him.

Moyes walked out and then said we where holding players back? I could not take 10 more years of him, yes he is better than Martínez, but who isn't?

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Jan 2016 18:34:06
So you can tell the future by what happened in the past!

Swan who said Moyes would improve Del boy and Lukaku? I certainly didn't see anyone say that. I said that Moyes would improve the team alright.

Thank you stig for admitting he is better than Moyes! Bet Howie doesn't agree with that. 'The things some people come out with'

Yea like yourself. Swan you put Kilbane down. Can't see why. He gave his all for Everton.

So Howie and Swan seein that you's can tell the future, why don't you's answer a question I asked a while ago.

Who would do better than if Moyes came back? Seeing that you's have all the answers. And like to criticize. Tell me who would of done better than Moyes?

Moyes wasn't a success Howie? O my god that is one of the daftest things I've ever heard. He was a failure then? Really?

Where were you when he took over at Everton? It was a failure that he kept us in the premiership! Now that is about as daft as I've ever heard. Take a history lesson a see what the club was like then.

Rather than pointing at the success Everton had that you's point out.

How will we get there again? It will just happen all of a sudden? No, when we find someone to kick on from where Moyes left off. Not someone who will take us back to where we were when he started 😋.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Jan 2016 18:57:43
NBTB, you can't have a go and say we are saying we can tell the future, only to claim "he would improve the team", that's as much evidence based as us saying he would ruin Lukaku.

Kilbane gave his all? That's the level of ambition I expect from someone wanting Moyes back, you probably think our current board have a been a success. Give me a talented player who offers something to the team over someone who just gives their all. Give me Deulofeu over Kilbane, Lukaku over Johnson and Barry over Neville. You need to stop creaming yourself over Moyes and expecting the world to do the same. He expected strikers to run around and didn't care how good they were as he valued talent over hard work. So why wouldn't he do the same with Rom? Same out wide, run and run, don't need talent, just be able to run a lot, why wouldn't he implement this on Deulofeu? . I remember you saying Moyes is clever so would change with the times (start playing great Football and not tell attackers to defend) , which is the daftest thing I've ever heard, I advise you take a history lesson yourself to since he left, he's the exact same, so he's not going to have us playing like Barcelona. Shouldn't success be on achieving something? He won nothing and couldn't take us any further than he did, he simply left and expected someone else to take us further (admitting defeat) than he failed to do for obvious reasons. You mention unless we find someone to kick on from where Moyes left off and not back where we started, where did you say Moyes would get us if he came back? Top 7? Where did we start? Top 7. Thank you for defeating your own point.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 19:56:34
Im astonished at NBTB reply to me in particular. I don't have a crystal ball but I know when someone Manages our team has no success its by the empty space in the cabinet. Moyes gave us our club back from the depths of despair of Walter, but he never changed tactics in 11 years, he destroyed every Striker he broke the transfer record to get, and we never moved on, in fact the moaning was worse than now about him. He was at the club 3 seasons too long, the way he left was a disgrace, so arrogant and not too mention the disgraceful attempts to buy our players and the nerve to say we were holding them back when he was holding Utd back aswell! I loved Moyes for giving us our club back but grew to unlike him for the way he didn't or couldn't move on tactically. Martinez is as stubborn, in his ways so i'm not saying he's the answer but while you score goals you have a chance of winning games more than being hellbent on not conceding in my eyes. I've been blessed though over the years to witness goalscoring teams from the school of science to Kendall best. don't forget either that Kendall was on the verge of the sack and the victim of horrendous abuse this time of year before the Oxford game away in 1984, but the board stuck with him. If ya know your history ehh!

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Jan 2016 21:14:35
Well Swan seeing the board bought the club for what £20m and are selling it for £200m it looks like quite a success to me.

But then again I'm not in the board so I don't know the true ins and outs.

To answer your question yea I think the board was quite successful just like Moyes was. Do you know what the people in the board were like before this one?

This board is like the second coming compared to them. So on that note I can only say they were successful.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2016 00:33:13
So, going from bad, to a less bad, but still very bad, makes success. Doesn't take much to be successful then, which is why this club is going nowhere, small club mentality.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2016 01:26:05
Howie, bit unfair on Walter there mate. His hands were tied by the former board, he did manage to get rid of PJ and his cronies though so we should be eternally grateful. You're right with DM though, he should never be brought back to the club, it would be a backward step.

That said, I'm quite thankful to DM for the job he did over the years. One thing he did do was stabilise the club, taking us from the depths of the relegation places to a team who challenged for the european spots. In comparison to the clubs with the cash, that was an achievement.

Despite what some say, he moved us on as a club during his tenure. But he wasn't good enough to take us to the next level. His remarks about the club after he left should not be forgotten, Davey boy got a bit above himself and ruined any relationship he had with our fans. I think he would need us more than we need him.
It's clear that things are quite similar under RM.

Not in the style we currently play, but he stubbornly continues to play an attacking game with little emphasis on defence. Moyes was the opposite, he sacrificed attacking flair for a tight unit. Neither system has done us much good in terms of winning things or continually chipping away at the top four.

If we were to get rid of RM in the foreseeable then we should bring in a new man, hopefully one who has a bit of pedigree within the game. If the Americans decide to buy us then our options would probably increase. Time will tell eh boys.

Wow I said my post below was made tongue in cheek but it has certainly restarted the Moyes debate again. Listen guys, the one thing I agree with Ed and all the anti Moyes brigade is that he should not come back. I am not advocating that. But I also do not agree with a lot of the anti Moyes stuff saying we were not improving under him. In his 11 years, he improved the squad no end. I remember driving up from Gloucestershire for his first game in charge against Fulham. Walter Smith had spent an absolute fortune on a quite terrible squad. I said to my son, "try and enjoy the game today son. We may be watching Everton in the Championship next season! ". Well he turned us round and got rid of all the ageing players and started signing players like Baines and all the others we know about. He was very shrewd and I don't know how much was down to him and how much was down to the talent spotters, but I know he had the final say on signings. To spot someone like John Stones above the so called top 4 clubs is amazing in my opinion. He also brought in Cahill, Oviedo, Mirallas, Naismith, Arteta, Yakubu, Yobo, Jagielka Lescott, Fellaini, Valente, Neville and some other quality signings. All for nominal fees or at least fees that were beaten when the players were sold. I can also see that Stones value has increased somewhat and he is in demand. From Martinez' signings, I can only see Lukaku being worth loads more. maybe McCarthy too? As for his other signings I see a very young kid (and I know this will cause uproar) Deulafeu who at times inspires and whips in wonderful crosses. and at other times gives the ball away cheaply and we concede goals from his inability to defend. The modern game needs 11 potential defenders on the pitch. Opposing team players ghost past him and are straight into our defense. It is as if he is not there. I am sorry, but I just don't think he is ready for a full time role in the first team.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its how you see it i suppose degs..do i want to be entertained with free flowing attacking football but with a risk that we may concede too many...or do i want to see us grinding out a drab 1-0 win whilst being bored out my brains every week?...somewhere inbetween i suspect but i know what i prefer mate..

01 Jan 2016 13:31:31
the way some of you go on about moyes is really sad he was the manager who took the club on the longest run without a trophy in are history and looked like he was never going to win us a trophy and before you moyes lovies go on no am not saying we have a right to win trophys but am a firm believer in history revolves and we are one of a few clubs that history has revolved around winning trophys now moyes blocked us a few times were we could of won a trophy through his negativity alone this is are longest run without one and I blame him the board and fans who love him and that is why moyes should never come near goodison again.

I don't hate the guy ed02 he did do a little good for everton but you name me a manager who hasn't apart from mike walker and the two who took us down in the 30s and 50s, it just people need to bore off with the moyes obsession its shameful the kopites loved every min he was in charge, Martinez is making me feel exactly the same frustration but in a different way both don't and never will learn by there mistakes a good manager will but these two as proved are below average managers am just glad he won't be around as long as moyes.

Well said, shows a clear lack of ambition, couldn't break in to the Champions League bar once and people think he could now if he cane back? . What's changed? Money? He had tons at Man Utd and no one wanted to play for him and he got sacked. He's not as good a manager as Spurs, LFC and Arsenal have regardless of how good our squad is so we would still be behind them. What would change? Being 8th instead of 11th? Doesn't mean much as we still won't achieve anything with either manager.

{Ed025's Note - if my memory is correct he never got us to the CL proper, we lost out in the qualifying round i suspect..

01 Jan 2016 14:41:45
O my god, Moyes was no good, Martinez is no good. YOUR negativity is getting me down. So who would of done better than Moyes? Under the circumstances he had to deal with?

Your slating Moyes because he didn't win anything? Are you serious? You do think just because its Everton we have a right to trophies. You are as much as saying that when you criticize Moyes for not winning one.

Leeds are a big club. When is the last time they won a trophy? Where are they now? Is it there managers fault they haven't won a trophy in how long?

Of course not. If your good enough you'll win trophies. If your bad enough you'll go down and maybe never return to the premier league. Its not a given being in the premier league. Look at Villa. Big club with rich history. When is the last time they won something. Looks like they are heading for the championship because they are bad enough to go down.

Realists realise that and don't dream because we haven't won a trophy in 20 years.

So you'd be happy if Martinez repeats history and wins the league cup or Fa cup and also takes us down? I wouldn't.

Premiership status at all costs imo. It was certainly under threat when Moyes took over. It wasn't anywhere near a threat when he left.

O wait he didn't win a trophy, so therefore he was crap. Please, if we are good enough that is when we will win a trophy. Not before then.

So tell me, I'm intrigued seeing that we should be winning trophies. Who could manage us to achieve that? Realistically now, not in dream world where Pep or Mourinho take over.

I'd love to know because I'd be as happy and elated as anyone if Everton won a trophy. Unfortunately we simply weren't good enough to win one for a long time now.

Agree0 Disagree3

01 Jan 2016 15:15:54
No one called him crap, nothing to do with either or in terms of relegation and winning a trophy. We can win trophies without going down. We are not in Leeds' position, we don't have a right to anything, does that mean we shouldn't want to win trophies? . Pulis, Pardew, Koeman, Laudrup and Ranieri all did what Moyes did, just with different clubs in much less time.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 16:52:40
Yea no one called him crap but they may as well have seeing he didn't win a trophy. We can win trophies without going down. We can also go down without winning trophies!

Thank god were not in Leeds position. That's exactly where we were heading before the arrival of the second coming Moyes 😃

We all want to win trophies. None of them managers achieved anything like what Moyes did with Everton. Ranieri is at Leicester how long? Have to wait to compare him. As for the rest of them. No similarities to what Moyes done at Everton whatsoever.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 17:13:05
Got teams fighting relegation to mid table and above, exactly what Moyes did for us. People have a right to criticize him for winning nothing, he had so many chances. But his knife to a gun fight mentality led to us losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup final, Liverpool in the Semi and even managed to bottle a home game against Wigan 3-0.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 17:17:34
right as I've said before you have a fascination with us been relegated why? you need to stop and leeds are no were near in are league we won far far more than them at every single club no matter what the buck stops with the manager . moyes had a team good enough to win a trophy we had chances to win trophys and he bottled ever single one of them nbtb I don't hate moyes I don't hate bobby but regardless of what you say the board and fans were to scared of change am not been negative am been positive towards the club a change wad need at everton after 3 years moyes was there it went stale and my judgement is still out on Martinez but I have very little faith as its a results business, now money please tell me were walter smith got more money than moyes? question for degsypulford because from what I can remember we was under peter Johnson and that ass dint give us a penny, if it wasn't for smith getting shut of Johnson we would of went down fact.

Moyes never had a team good enough to win a trophy. Do you know why? Because they didn't win a trophy. Simple as.

I totally agree. Smith was actually the second coming. Moyes was the third 😁

None of them Swan had near the turnaround with their clubs than Moyes had.

Moyes never had a proper chance of winning anything. Everton improved all the time under Moyes. Read Degs post above. Totally true.

If my memory serves me right, Walter Smith signed the likes of Marco Materazzi #2.5m Olivier Dacourt #4m John Collins #2.5m
David Unsworth #3m Steve Simonsen #3.3m Ibrahima Bakayoko #4.5m
David Weir #250,000 Peter Degn #200,000 Scot Gemmill #200,000
Richard Gough Free Kevin Campbell #3m Mark Pembridge . #800,000
Abel Xavier #1.5m Joe-Max Moore Free Stephen Hughes #3m
Mark Hughes Free Steve Watson #2.5m Alessandro Pistone #2.75m
Paul Gascoigne Free Niclas Alexandersson . #2.2m Alex Nyarko #4.5m
Thomas Gravesen #2.5m Duncan Ferguson #3.75m Gary Naysmith #1.7m
Idan Tal #700,000 Thomas Radzinski 4.5m. These were big signings in those days before Sky money. He took us to the bottom 3 when Moyes took over and we were playing very inconsistently. Smith got rid of Johnson by what method? I was under the impression that the Chairman was in charge. I was not aware that Walter Smith sacked his boss. Sorry about that.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 18:34:22
Oh by the way, Leeds were above us in the league season after season in Walters time. They underestimated the loss of Champions League football when they did not qualify one season yet had signed all their top players on long term contracts. Without Champions League football they ran at a loss and into decline. Players on long contracts happens to every club, but when a whole squad is involved like Leeds were, it basically bankrupts them. To say this could not happen to us is naive at the least. We are 9 points above relagation place. that is only 3 wins. Things change. I think it is highly unlikely that we will get relegated but our next few games involve Spurs, Man City 3 times, Chelsea, Stoke and the Reds. This will put undoubted strain on the squad and we will have to see what happens. Sorry I have an opinion that differs.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 18:41:27
Everton never had a proper chance of winning anything? What about the Quarters, Semi's and Final I mentioned? . Or was it impossible? Did Moyes have the world against him? Why did Wigan and Portsmouth win trophies? Did they have a proper chance? . Calling an FA Cup final not a chance to win a trophy is bizarre.

Swan, very simple. If your good enough to win a trophy you will win the trophy. They are called winners. We were never good enough to win a trophy in the last 20 years because we simply didn't win.

Wigan and Portsmouth were good enough to win the cup. Not good enough to stay in the premiership however. Where it really counts.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 19:03:14
So, what you've done there is completely ignore my point. I will ask again, why did they have a proper chance and Moyes didn't? . Why do you have a weird obsession with either or? Why do you think if a team wins a trophy they have to go down. What about Spurs? Liverpool? Arsenal? Why didn't they go down? . Is that why we lost those games? Did Moyes throw them because the Illuminati would relegate us? . Hahahaha lol.

Degsy how many of those players you mentioned for Walter Smith buying did he sell a year or two later for much more money? Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 21:18:14
Walter Smith signed players for 53million and sold 56million so actually did a bit better than I thought off the pitch and made 3million profit in his time. However, Moyes in his 11 years actually sold 8million more than he spent in total. And here is the scary bit. Martinez has already spent 40million more than he has recouped. So in order to balance the books needs to sell a player for 40million if we are to keep our books balanced in the same way. Any ideas how he can do that? I looked up the stats so please don't think I am guessing these figures.

Happy New Year to all.
Listening to radio on Merseyside and National.
What's becoming increasingly clear from blue supporters and Pundits, RM must back down over the goalkeeping situation, tactics and the need for a plan B.
If not he's on his way, a wasted year with so much talent at his disposal would be unforgivable.

Happy New Year everyone. To lighten things a bit, I thought I would do a 10 reasons why Moyes was better than Martinez: (it is toungue in cheek before you all get angry at it)

1. Moyes spotted young players and brought them in. eg Rooney, Stones, Jags, Baines etc
2. Moyes was defensively more astute and could organise a team to block out the opposition.
3. Moyes knew when a player was past his best and had no sentiment.
4. Moyes would make decisions outside the team for the benefit of taking the club forwards. eg training facilities.
5. Moyes in the main bought cheap and sold expensive. to enable re-investment in the squad.
6. Moyes signed players who scored goals.
7. Moyes helped get a 3 nil win over the reds.
8. Moyes turned us from a bottom 5 club into a top 6 club.
9. Moyes is British.
10. Moyes did not waffle in press interviews!

That's it folks! da da da da da da da da da da da da (looney tunes ending) do you think I am still drunk?

Good one Degs. Can't dispute with any of that! Mainly because I like you am a Moyes fan.

{Ed025's Note - i cant say i am NBTB, dont you remember how dire the football was under him?..or the fact we never beat any of the top 4 sides? taking a knife to a gun fight and being happy to come out alive going to old trafford spring to mind, and dont forget the miserable way he portrayed himself to the press..now im not saying bobby is the second coming but i for one dont miss moyes in the slightest mate..

01 Jan 2016 10:19:49
You might change your mind Ed if Martinez stay's for another season or 2. We might need Moyes or someone similar to steer us towards the top again.

I agree the football wasn't attractive. But in footballing terms I think when you have a sound defence you have a chance of winning. When you have a dodgy defence it's the opposite you have a chance of losing.

Imo Moyes knew no different while he was at Everton because of the constraints he was under when he arrived first. I honestly think a refreshed look from Moyes now would be much more attractive football than what he played before.

This thing of him always taking a beating from the top 4 before the games is a bit silly to me. When Moyes was here how many games in the whole of each season did the top 4 lose? Sweet FA if I can remember correctly.

Didn't Chelsea go a whole season without getting beaten. Arsenal if I remember correctly had a similar enough run way back. At the moment we can't even beat teams who came up from the championship never mind top 4 teams.

Do people honestly think we were better than the top 4?

Having said that I can't see Moyes coming back. I don't think he'd be asked. He did make an ass of himself when he left. Totally disagree with some of the stuff he said and done.

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions i suppose NBTB, im not bobbys biggest fan by any means mate but moyes depressed the life out of me, would i have him back?.. not in a million..

Remember I said it was tongue in cheek. but I did think Moyes had usplaying some brilliant stuff inhis last season when Baines and Coleman were used as real wing backs. Some of our goals were made from one minute defending and bang bang up the other end and in the net. The whole team seemed to score goals too. not just one player. Moyes then did spoil it with some stupidly vile and disrespectful comments. but I believe he left RM with a superb squad and Lukaku was a master signing. and McCarthy too. but the rest? I am not convinced. Look at our next 10 fixtures and I can see us losing most of them. we will then be in the same situation as last season . ie a downwards slide. that is the most difficult time to be doing it. Just before the run in. If Lukaku loses form or gets injured we are in big trouble. Oh yeah. Happy New Year.

Ed25, no Moyes did not beat the so-called top 4 but then again they found it difficult to beat us. Goodison was a very hard place to come if you wanted a result. Yes football should be entertaining but foremost it has to be competitive. Moyes turned us into a regular top third of the table Team with apparently a less talented Squad. This bloke has a talented Squad and has somehow managed to turn us into a bottom third Club. It cannot be coincidence surely, that with our position slipping and our defence somehow turned ineffective that we are similar to Wigan under Martinez. More importantly Bill must be seeing it now. It was a terrible decision and I mean terrible decision to hire him based on Wigan beating us 3-0 and winning the FA Cup. It is not overdoing it to state that if we stick with this guy, he will take us down. Every time Stoke attacked the other night they looked like they would score and that is a deplorable indictment of what Roberto is doing to this great great Club.

{Ed025's Note - i have said before that i dont think bobby is the man to lead us to glory DM, we have a really good squad though and we are a joy to watch if you dont count defending, on moyes, at the end i would have given him a piggy back to old trafford he depressed me that much, he got found out for what he really was there which was a very lucky man to be given a chance at a club like everton, he did a good job dont get me wrong, but was extremely well paid for the privilege and showed us no respect at all in the end..good riddance for me mate..

01 Jan 2016 13:23:47
Not convinced by other signings apart from lukaku and McCarthy. What about del boy,Galloway,Barry, besic, using youth instead of loaning them to lower divisions then selling them for pittance.I agree that the jury is still out on mori,Lennon and players like that, but have Moyes back. nah

He did leave RM with a decent squad and a healthy club. I honestly believe as you say Degs Moyes was beginning to change the way he played. He was here over 10 years and steadily improved things.

At the beginning he hadn't the luxury or the choice for that matter to play attractive football. He kinda continued that. But as I said he was playing nicer looking football with Coleman and Baines towards the end. As Degs said.

By that stage Moyes could afford to be more expansive as he built the squad up to being top 7 contenders at least.

Who knows if he would of kept improving things. Personally I think he was a top striker away (e. g. Lukaku) from achieving good things. He never had a consistent striker who would get 20 goals a season every season. If he got that I think his teams would be challenging at the very top.

As you say Ed it's all about opinions. That's why we'll never get a perfect manager. Managers are after all human. Therefore they are going to possess characteristics that are not perfect. Always going to be something that the manager is not good at. Or is doing wrong.

It's in us all. As someone once said 'there are no perfect people in this world, just perfect intentions'

{Ed025's Note - but he is not here NBTB....and thats because he turned his back on us for what he thought were greener pastures mate,et tu brute..

01 Jan 2016 13:46:32
Yes Martinez recruitment is good I'll give him that. He has done very well with signings.

Ed Moyes got found out for what at Utd? More like Utd got found out now for what they were like under Moyes. For a Utd team they are brutal with a so called top manager who spent what £300m to improve the team and he hasn't.

They are no better now than they were under Moyes and all the spending they done. It's no excuse they won the premiership the year before for 2 reasons.

Look what they are like today after going all out spending.

Look what Chelsea are like today after winning the premiership last season.

{Ed025's Note - yeah probably me being a bit unfair there NBTB, i just dont get the new love affair with our former manager mate..

01 Jan 2016 13:55:08
I agree Ed he was a p**ck towards Everton. He came down to earth I'm sure.

Surely if he came back he'd have to apologise. I'd love to see him squirm to be honest. He'd be damn glad of the job now.

Interestingly he was interviewed recently and asked what was his favourite win in games as manager. He said beating the red half! Has to account for something. When he was here he was 100% behind Everton.

Imo if he was back it would be the same. Along with some humble pie that he should be damn glad to be Everton manager. And treat the club with the respect it deserves and the way he should of always treated it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not a believer in going back NBTB, he had his shot at what i believe is one of the best clubs in britain and now thats history mate..

01 Jan 2016 14:46:39
Can't see happening if I'm honest. But I would like to see it. Especially with the manager we have now.

Would like someone like Simeone. Someone who build's the team on having a sound defence.

One of best clubs in Britain? Maybe, I'm obviously a big supporter. Just seems like we have to be taken over by an extremely wealthy person to continue being one of the best.

I don't understand why anybody would want Moyes back has everybody forgot about the 11 years of mind numbing football he gave as? Give me Roberto any day as the football is fun, exciting edge of the seat stuff and once he sorts out the defending you watch as go. Leave the past in the past where it belongs.
