Here's a question. Would you rather have pranjic on a free or pienaar for 6 million. The 6 million could be used somewhere else but the bainaar partnership is just so sexy. Both are 30, versatile, good on the ball, amazing on the left and would fit in well.
Blue kaz

Pienaar every day of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Pranjic is a replacement for Baines. Yes he can play higher up the pitch or as a central midfielder, but I would say it's highly likely he has been purchased to replace Baines. With Bayern finding a gem in Alaba, they no longer need Pranjic. A good acquisition by Everton if it all goes through, but I think it is not a case of Pienaar or Pranjic, it's more a case of Pranjic in for Baines. I guess time will tell.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bayern no longer need him! they have not played him in a year, and he is out of contract and doesnt want to stay there, so bayern have no say on him! and he is left mid who can be utilised as left back, so he would not be a replacement, you can not play him permenently out of preferred position. were do people come up with this crap?

EverTheOptimistic

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not trying to sign pranjic as a replacement for baines, we were close to signing him in Jan when there wasnt any talk of baines moving, so we are trying to sign a player we were going after months ago, and now all of a sudden hes a replacement for baines, bulls**t.

Question so, would you take pranjic, naismith, pienaar, donovan and dempsey for baines?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Yes i would

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take them all and keep baines, what wrong with that?

EverTheOptimistic {ed025's Note - nothing...

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys, ed hes not saying we should sell bainesy he just posing a dilema and asking what would we think if that did happen saying"take them all" isnt really answering the question of course we would like them all but if it came down to it I would reluctantly say for having a stronger squad in more positions although weaker in one (LB obviously) i would take it, that doesnt mean i want to see him go but the mighty blues will go on long after bainsey has left and we are nothing if not resilient.

This is what I believe will happen baines to united for 17m and pienaar 3-4m donavon 3-4m and Dempsey 5-6m and the rest to the bank! Not a rumour or fact just a slight bit of common sense from my point of view with pranjic and Naismith on frees

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Well its a good job i dont believe in your belief!

EverTheOpimistic

Agree0 Disagree0

The bank would get nothing if we signed all 5-players. As well as paying transfer fees for three of the 5, there would be a massive increase in wages, which would far exceed the money we got for Baines.

People seem to forget that when players sign they normally sign for 4-years. For a halfway decent player at £40k a week that means we commit £8.3m over that period. If we sign five players at £40k a week, that means about £40m that we are contracted to pay over 4-years.

Re: Naismith.

I'm not sure what he is on at Rangers (something like £25k a week). If we give him a contract over 4-years at a modest £30k, he'll cost over £6.2m! So he's far from 'free'. {Ed025's Note - all players have to be paid mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

How is common sense may I ask?

Agree0 Disagree0

We have also released players McFadden drenthe staqulersi wages at 30k average a week that's a saving of 4.6 m a year. Just the same as when we sold arteta we saved money on his wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats happened with the Dempsey rumour thought we wanted him but I havent seen anything in ages. {Ed025's Note - fulham are looking for £10m so thats the end of that..

Such an important 5 months for Everton...August
to December. Don't think we will lose Fellaini
or Baines up until the end of the year, but if one
of the big money clubs are stalling by Christmas, then one of them is likely to hit the release clause
on the Fellaini contract. As such, if there is no
sign of a decent buyer, and Everton are not
knocking on the door of European football by end of the end of the year, the January transfer window is likely to be a much bigger headache for Moyes and Everton fans than the present window.
Oscar

Believable3 Unbelievable1

But oscar my dear friend, if they are stalling, and we have made the right signings, and got off to a good start, maybe, just maybe, theres a new era in the prem. why do we have to be doing crap, maybe its us making them crap, think about it that way. we dont need a decent buyer to win games!

First of all, Naismith is a Free Agent therefore he would be free ; hence the term, 'Free Agent'. And secondly, Błaszczykowski (Blacwoski) is a great player however he's a right winger, not a right back.

If by blacwoski you mean blaszczykowski, he isn't a rb he's a winger, albiol is a cb, baines isn't going, pranjic and naismith wouldn't play cm, naismith is a cf/am and pranjic is a lb/lm and why isn't gibson playing?

Not I don't think we will have the same pienaar back as baines makes him the player he is the understanding is brilliant get shot of fringe players like anichibe you would probably get 4 or 5 million for him he is never going to be first choice and use wages on Adam Johnson and hoilett

The One good thing is he wasnt picked for the euros not from a playing stand point, he 10 times the player downing is imo but he will now realise if he wants to make the world cup squad first team football is a must which might convince him to lower his wage demands of course if someone else comes in and offers more then we wont get him but his current high wages could be negotiated.

Everton’s Nikica Jelavic looks as though he will be re-united with former Rangers frontman Steven Naismith as David Moyes makes his first venture into the transfer market. Naismith who Jelavic described as a perfect strike partner looks to be set to follow the Croat south of the border and join the Toffees. Naismith has refused to have his contract swapped over from Rangers to ‘Rangers Newco’ and has decided that his future lies elsewhere.

Naismith is one of 9 players who have asked to be released including Steven Whittaker, John Fleck, Alan McGregor, Sone Aluko, Jamie Ness and Kyle Lafferty in looking for a new club. Everton have been examing the legality of any deal amid fears that legal action could be taken by Newco should they enter into a contract with Naismith. However, it appears that they have a strong enough case to offer the 25 year old Scot a long term deal.

Naismith is a hardworking player who can play off the frontman as well as occupying wide areas of the pitch. Naismith began his career with Kilmarnock in 2004. He spent four years with the Ayrshire side before moving to Rangers in the summer of 2007 for a fee of £1.9m. While with the club he has won three consecutive league titles, a Scottish Cup in 2008 and the League Cup twice.

Naismith made his full international debut in 2007 against the Faroe Islands and has 13 caps, scoring two goals, against Spain and Lithuania.

Should Everton complete the deal it would represent a shrewd piece of business by David Moyes who is looking for options in attacking areas after releasing Denis Stracqualursi and James McFadden this summer.

It has been suggested that as many as nine clubs are interested in Naismith but Everton appear to have won the race for a man Nikica Jelavic described as being his best ever strike partner. Naismith’s committed style and fearless nature has attracted David Moyes’s attention and a deal looks likely to be concluded over the weekend barring any last minute hitches.

Morning Fellow Blues and Eds,

Just a thought regarding any potential moves and players wanting to be first team regulars.

With the World Cup qualifiers starting in September aren't they all going to want to factor that in to wherever an offer comes from?

In my opinion I would think that regular first team players will get more noticed by their Country so unless that's a guaranteed feature of any offer I think players who are getting first team football are more likely to stay where they are and those who regularly on the bench are more likely to move .

Of course there are the greedy ones who'll just go for a payout but with regard to our players if it's 30 pieces of silver they want more than playing football for your club I say let them go!

I wouldn't want them

If we apply this to the Barnes and Pienaar situations unless man u have guaranteed him the left back slot I don't believe he'll go, yes they have champions league and get lots of exposure but it's playing regularly that has to count if you want to play in the world cup.

I believe there will be an overhaul of the England squad with a lot of the old guard going. I think Ashley Cole is older than bainsey so this might be bainsey's time. But he neds to be playing regularly.

Conversely with pienaar he knows where he stands at spurs and where he would with us.

This may be for both their last chance of a world cup!.

Anyway.just my thoughts on the situation, I hope Bainsey stays IF an offer comes in and IF it's accepted and IF he's guaranteed first team football then the only thing that would keep him here is loyalty.

There are an awful lot of IFs in there, I believe he'll stay

As its the 1st July today and the transfer window officially opens today I think things will be settled fairly soon.

Before getting our hopes too high, realism should prevail....Everton still need and have
needed for so long a winger with pace who can get to the line. Piennar on the left is a great asset but cuts inside most of the time....on the right we so need someone who can break with
real pace and upset other defences before they have time to get back....there may not be a Kanchelski out there but if you look hard enough, wingers with pace are out there and it
would make Jelavic an even more potent threat.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Jul 2012 00:44:46
Why would we be selling Baines to United when we are supposed to be very close to re-signing Pienaar............to reform the link with Baines down the left ? It just doesn't make any sense....Pienaar surely wouldn't come back here if he thought we were selling Baines to anyone. Also I believe the Man Utd era is now over....and Everton could just be on the verge of becoming a very good side.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

The 2 lads I follow closely in regards to Everton, and are usually spot on with things related to Everton reckon Utd haven't even made contact with Everton yet in regards to Baines. And honestly I cant see why they would, it would need north of 17/18mil for Baines, they have an experienced left back, who was also their captain last season in Evra, if he is sold, then begin to worry, but this summer I just don't see them signing an 18+mil players to occupy the bench for more than half the time.

Besides, if they wait for Evra to retire or whatever (1-2yrs I would say), they could get Baines for far cheaper as he would be older and nearing the end of his contract.

Also good news on Pienaar, apparently the last week has been very productive between the two sides and they are much closer to a deal. So hopefully they can agree and Pienaar and be alongside Baines on the left.

Whittaker has moved to Norwich from Rangers and Lafferty has joined FC Sion from Rangers so WHY haven't we signed Naismith then?
Is it all bull that was made up on this or is this happening or what?
He's a top player, 2 of my work mates are Rangers fans and say he is class hope we do sign him
