if all the speculation of moyes trying to find a replacment for howard would really like mignolet to replace him

Believable7 Unbelievable2

I don't think we need to replace Tim, I just think he needs genuine competition for his place.

Great to see so many blues turn up to the Everton two store today to see Fellaini and Mirallas, the line stretched all the way back to John Lewis. There were a few chants on the go too ha ha. Unfortunately I couldn't get in as there were too many people there. Would have loved to have seen the famous duo though. All the best fellow blues and have a Merry Christmas.

BitterBlue {Ed025's Note - you too bitter mate..

Hi ed just wondering who would you like us to sign in January realistically thanks
Eddy {Ed025's Note - ofoe would be great, add a pinch of lewis holtby, and a dash of jack butland and were sorted...but realistically eddy, i think we will get ofoe, and a surprise loan.....but if felli goes...refer to my opening gambit..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have you actually seen Ofoe play ed? As to be honest I hadn't even heard of him before we were linked to him and know nothing about him.

Mike {Ed025's Note - yes i have mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ed. I wasn't having a go, I just don't know that much about him.

Mike {Ed025's Note - hes a good player mike, and i think he would fit in well mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a great prospect Mike, I've seen him quite a few times (only since we've been linked) and he has massive potential, imo. Great engine, good passer of the ball and can get you the odd goal. Can play like Fellaini, as a defensive midfield and box to box but I don't think he could play the number 10 role like Fellaini {Ed025's Note - good assessment that mate..

THINK CHARLIE AUSTIN IS A GOOD STRIKER DEFO KNOWS WERE THE GOAL IS AND SHOULDNT COST TOO MUCH EITHER

TOFFEE SHAUN {Ed025's Note - good prospect shaun..but could he do it in the prem?..expensive gamble for me mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable3

He'll just be another Jermaine Beckford if he came to us. Would get sold in a year.

ToffeeMike

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually liked Beckford

We made money on Beckford aswell as 10/11 goals didnt we so whats the problem?

His full length of the pitch goal against Chelsea last game of the season is one for the Toffees history books aswell - Classic!

Blue bones

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha ha Beckford's goal against Chelsea certainly was a classic Bones, but not for all the right reasons! The ball must have bobbled off every inch of his leg before he scored, he never had complete control of the ball which made the goal even better.

The best goal ive ever seen by a country mile some players faces dont fit with managers moyes seems to have a problem with strikers i could never understand why he never played johnson and is best mate james beatie together they woud have been awesome tom efc {Ed025's Note - i dont know about awesome tom..

Hi Everton fans. Just a curious Man United fan here. Is Moyes a top manager? Is a little debate going on with the lads in work at the minute. I'm unsure, no doubt about it he deserves massive credit he took over you when you were fighting relegation each year and turned you into a club that competes at the right end of the league BUT for me football is about winning trophys and he has won nowt in 10years and only 1 appearance in a final. I know all everton fans that I have spoke to always say we have no money we have injurys etc but that always seems the excuse with the toffees (sorry, but true) could he stomach a job where he would be under constant pressure to win trophys? where his job is on the line? were he has to be positive in big semi finals or finals? what are your opinions without saying hes had.no money or injurys. Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

No way is Moyes is a top manager. He is a decent manager but he won't manage Man Utd, they will want a bigger name who has actually won something. This is the reason why no big club will want him IMO. 'The Messiah' has happened to have won Manager of the Year 3 times, which makes him the greatest manager of all time on here though.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Moyes is a top manager, but I see what you mean about trophies. The squads we've had recently have been good enough to win trophies, but seen as we dont tend to take the League Cup seriously, our only realistic goal is the FA Cup - which we've been in one final and one semifinal in the last 3 years. I guess we'll never know how he'll deal with ambitions and trophy-demands unless he takes an even bigger job in future years. MattBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Well when you're judging how good Davey Moyes or any manager is, you have look at the players they inherited and the resources they've had available over their tenure, plus how many trophies they've won. For you to say don't use the 'excuse' (What are we excusing him from?) that Moyes has had no money is ridiculous because how a manager spends his money is an aspect that needs to be analysed.

So I will grade Moyes on those 3 areas and explain why I have done so...

How he used the players he inherited: A
If you look at some of the players Moyes inherited from Walter Smith it is clear to see what a fantastic job he's done. We were fighting relegation when he took over due to the poor quality of players we had in our roster. Although correct me if I'm wrong, he guided us to Champions League football 2 seasons later with basically the same players.

Resources available and how he has used them: A*

He has consistently signed players that no-one would of heard of or thought of signing and turned them into great players, i.e. Arteta, Lescott, Baines, Jagielka, Pienaar, Gibson, Carsley, Coleman, Fellaini, the list goes on... With the resources he has had, he has worked absolute miracles on a biblacal scale. Unfortunately we have had to sell some of our best players over the years but he sold them for 4 or 5 times more than they were bought for. He has turned Everton into a team that consistently finishes into the top half of the table, he has also guided us to Champions League, Europa League 4 times, Europa League quarter-final, F.A. cup semi-final and final, lastly he has also guided us to a League Cup semi-final. Besides from that he has also earned 3 LMA manager of the year awards and 9 manager of the month awards. All this and his net spending has been less than £5 million every year!

Trophies: F

Obviously, Moyes has won no trophies, and for a manager of his calibre that's quite disappointing, although we have the right to say he hasn't had the money to try and challenge for a trophy. I often imagine where Everton would be if Moyes had £20 million to spend every transfer window and I honestly believe we'd be top. I have no doubt in my mind that Everton will win a trophy in the next 3 years or so with Moyes at the helm.

So to sign off, despite his trophy drought it does not evade the fact he is one of the best managers around. He is tactically brilliant and knows how to spend money. I don't think anyone would question it if he one day manages the likes of Manchester United or Tottenham etc because we all believe he could do it on the big stage.

BitterBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO DM would probably struggle to deliver in his first season as he would need time to get use to the new environment. However, I do believe that with the resources available he would be able to deliver the success expected.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Bitter, spot on.

EFCWhitesocks

Agree0 Disagree0

The main reason he hasn't won a trophy is because his best chance in the fa cup final his players were out on their feet by half time. Those players had to beat man u and Liverpool over 120 mins plus a very good villa side. Add to that no arteta yak or jags. Chelsea would have been a step too far even for Europe's elite given those circumstances.

I'm not one for excuses but give him a break.

And as for the question of would he be good enough for you . I'm not sure if you're good enough for him

Agree0 Disagree0

You're pretty much right on the money there Bitter, but his net spend, prior to the last window, has been £1.2m a season. Therefore making his achievements even more impressive imo.

In my opinion whoever takes over from SAF needs there head testing, no matter what you do it will never be good enough, they will be scrutinised every match and slaughtered by the fans if they lost two in a row.

I was wondering if city gave us the opportunity to take Rodwell on loan for the rest of the season with them paying the wages would you take it? I don't think I would myself
BlueClarkey {Ed025's Note - i just cant see the point in it clarkey, he could not get in the side when he was here, and we have strengthened since then..
