Thank god we didn't get Van Dijk, reminded me of Per Kroldrup today. Can't head the ball to save a life.

Totally agree Swan. Maybe, Celtic was his limit. It takes time for players to settle but this guy doesn't look like the player people have talked about.

Cant help but wonder if we really were in for Payet that we missed out on a decent player that can unlock defences had another good game against city yesterday.

{Ed025's Note - yes we were gray, the talks took place in london mate between a number of clubs payet and his agent, we decided to withdraw when the wage bidding exceeded the £70.000 per week threshold..

21 Sep 2015 14:34:59
70k should not be an issue for a playmaker its 2015 I bet the average wage is 45k -55k now in prem

I know our highest earners are:

Baines-75k per week

Barry-70k per week

Pienaar-70k per week

Lukaku-70k per week

Mirallas-60k per week

When you think rubbish like McGeady, Osman and Howard are all on 50k per week. Don't know why we couldn't/didn't want to pay it. I an not judging him yet though, dozens of players light up the League first season then go missing and end up leaving on frees, loans or half what teams pay.
Not saying he will be one of these but I will reserve saying we 'missed' out until he does it most of the season and next season. People said we missed out on Shaqiri and said we had talks in London too, had offers rejected and accepted and all sorts.

We now know we were never interested and Stoke were the only team to ever even ask about him.

Let's wait and see.

I get what your saying swan but he does look a decent player atm
let's see how is form is when the winter kicks in and then judge it but I do think he is a talent who could have brought that little bit extra to our attack.

Bit worried now, if those young defenders carry on playing like that Chelsea will put a bid in for the whole back four!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we look good at the back woburn, no chance of them making any bids for our forwards though mate..

Have to say that was two points dropped yesterday imo.Although I thought we played well, I think if we were still playing today we still wouldn't of scored.Lukaku,it just wasnt happening, we needed freshening up a bit up front,i think he should of been brought off for gerry and Kone pushed up front earlier and we could of then had the option to bring a natural wide man and a game changer on like Mirallas for naisy earlier. To bring Mirallas on with two minutes of injury time left to play was a ridiculous decision by Martinez and played a part in the reason as to why Mirallas was sent off imo.

I agree m8, why bring someone on in the 90min, Martínez has no idea, Koné? why? and a lot will say look at the 3-1 against Chelsea, if Bešić had not got injured Naismith would not have come on till 15/20 before the end, Mirallas,Deulofeu are left out for Kone?? and RM brings off Barkley WTF, things like this upsets the dressing room, get a grip Martínez.

I thought Kone had a stinker. I admit he has been great in recent weeks, but on Saturday he gave the ball away so many times. Kone should have been replaced at half time and the changes made as Jimmmy C suggests.

Have to admit but I'm baffled how people are defending Mirallas being sent off and blaming Martinez for it. Frustrated my arse, Mirallas knew exactly what he was doing , as he has done the same sly tackle and been sent off before for it. Last week we were praising Naisy for being ready and prepared to come on as sub. Mirallas was in the first eleven for the Watford game and was dragged off because the was p;$$ poor. Mirallas attitude has stunk for a while now, get off Martinez back, look at the performance,

back four solid, no goals conceded in the EPL away from home
Midfield , excellent with Barkley looking like the player we hoped for
front line making chances, Kone looking like a player now.

We are much stronger in defence , remember we were without Baines and Coleman, youngest back four in the League, all English.

are you going to blame Martinez for being too defensive now. some of our attacking play has been fantastic this year, ref Chelsea, Southampton etc. Yes we missed chances but shit happens some times.

Fed up with blues trying to find fault in everything , give the guy a break.

So tell me then when the game was crying out for changes to be made a lot lot earlier why Martinez waited till the second minute of injury time to bring Mirallas on? Mirallas does my head in most of the time but on many occasions he can be a match winner. What can you hope to change in a game with merely seconds to go? in a game that had nil/nil written all over it. because of the managers tactics we dropped two points imo.And another thing is do you believe Martinez picked the right starting line up against Chelsea? and do you honestly believe that starting eleven would of beaten Chelsea? because I dont. He got lucky, lucky that Besic got injured so early with enough time left for the substitute Naismith to totally change the face of the game.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he had any intention to bring kev on to change the game jimmy, it was a time wasting tactic mate..

22 Sep 2015 19:33:01
Yes I know that Ed,what i'm trying to say is if changes were made earlier we possibly could of had all three points instead of one.We could all see things were crying out for a change. Then again as the old saying goes if ifs and ands were pots and pans.

{Ed025's Note - i know what you mean jimmy, i think the swans were there for the taking mate..

Anyone fancy a punt on Jamie vardey has pace an power no's were the goal is an I really think he would complement lukaku playing along side him

Wenger the whinger is not someone I have a lot of time for, every defeat is alway someoneeles fault. However, on the subject of costa he is spot on. If the chelsea manager thinks that's the way to play footbal, then he is 40 years out in his timeing, 1970s Leeds played that way, and even then it was considered as being unexceptable.Costa should get at least a 3 game ban, but with a suspendes ban of a further 10 games if found guilty of the same conduct.

Really annoyed on 2 fronts today.

Firstly should have been 3 points today. Very poor finishing.

Secondly, as I mentioned last week about Mirallas you could see the frustration in the mans face and he comes on in the 91st minute today and gets sent off. I wonder what he was thinking at that moment. I personally think if Martinez is not going to play him he needs to be shipped off because his body language tells me it's all about him and not the team.

How do you play Mirallas from the start when the team have just won 3-1 against Chelsea! Not only that in the second half we were camped in their half and it looked a matter of time before the floodgates would open. Sometimes if you make a change or too many of them it can have a negative effect.

He will get his chance but it can't be at the expense of in form players.

He also knows this after his interview this week in which I was really impressed by him. He sounds like it's finally clicked.
