Another pearler from our great leader.

Antolin has the experience of playing in Europe before and John is a young man and sometimes we need to give him the right game to compete for his place, " Martinez said.

"We are now looking back at the game and it is very easy to say 'this should have been done' but you need to allow football to make the decisions.

1. John stones does not need to compete with alcaraz for his place. If he is fit he should start.

2. You need to allow football to make the decisions. What does that even mean? As our manager you are paid to make the decisions and if he can't make the right decision picking between alcaraz and stones, god help him whenhe has a really tough decision. Every fan could have told you to play stones.

How can he even say that Stones needs to compete for his place back, when Howard didn't and neither did Baines. I would take a hiding of QPR today if it meant this person was sacked.

For Gods sake does this bloke actually take stats from games and monitor players like other Managers and coaches. Easy to look back on games and let football make the decisions. Okay so why play Alcaraz then? If it is obvious to us 'not proper Evertonians' how come it is not obvious to him. Basically the bloke is a BS'r. Why don't journalists ever put the question of competence to him. And Bill come on man, we love you for saving the Club but surely enough is enough. God forbid we lose or even draw at QPR but should we do so who else thinks this no mark will still be safe. It is truly baffling.

if Martinez is saying Stones has to compete with Alcatraz for a place, then he has lost any man management skills he had or may have had. Stones is our best performer and most promising for the future and coments like that will only lead to Stones saying 'I'm off elsewhere.
When Premiership safety is assured, Martinez has to give all the youngsters games to gain experience.

Did Martinez ever play international football?

Just looking over some of todays posts it's very interesting the amount of people who want Moyes back. Firstly, Kenwright always came out in public and backed Moyes when times were hard. ALWAYS. So maybe his silence now isn't the worst thing.
Secondly, Why anyone would want Moyes back is beyond me. I was a massive fan of Moyes, I hope he does well in Spain, but to want somebody back who's tenure was all cryptic messages of look how well I am doing at little Everton with no money. Things like "going to a gun fight with a spoon" "7th is the best we can do" proved wrong last year by an incompetent idiot. He is a hypercrite. Apparently we were holding Baines & Felli back, if he was so worried he should have let Baines leave the previous year when utd wanted him. And he won sod all with his negativity, he did of course bring things we lack right now, but that isn't a reason to go back. Plus, who really thinks he'd come back after the abuse we gave him & the ridicule over his sacking? He wouldn/ we shouldn.
We need to look forward a manager who lives in the real world is a must for me, this clown is the managerial version of George W. Bush.
With that in mind (real world) i'd have a German, Klinnsmann or Tuchal would do for me.

A win tomorrow and we can start to think about next season and how to right the wrongs of this season. I think we will have the same 2 keepers next year. Left back is a position we are well coverd in and I hope garbutt stays. Distain and alcaraz will surely be let go and 2 new centre backs will be promoted from youth or brought in. Right back will depend on if coleman stays or if anyone bids the money we want after a poor season. We have loads of centre midfielders but it is definately a posiition we need to look at as they all do the same job and don't score enough goals. I think we should keep faith with barkley and lukaku as a number 9 and 10 as they are both young and have the potential to be great players (especially if we have a new manager who builds a team around their strengths.) Our wide players are a real problem, mirallas looks like he is gone, pienaar has been out most of this season and isn't the player he was. Atsu and lennon will return after loan spells and don't even want to think about mcgeady. So I reckon we need 5 players at least to come into the squad next year 2 cb's a centre midfield and 2 wide players. Would also like to get a better back up for lukaku. Any ideas on our transfer budget with the increased sky money and what do we reckon we would get for mirallas.

According to the Echo reporter, {I can't think of his name now) we are after 3 players in the summer. A backup defender to replace Alcacrap, a new backup goalkeeper and Tom Cleverley. That is it, as that is all Brown Shoes thinks we need. We are going to promote the kids to fill out the squad. Happy days. That will put us in the top 4. Guaranteed.

It might be increased TV money but how much you get depends on what position you finish in, so on that score the Fraud has really done us up like a kipper. I think I read or heard somewhere that last place gets £750,000 plus their parachute money, maybe that was in BK's mind all along. ;-)

21 Mar 2015 22:11:15
Mike I just looked up that article and it would be disappointing if all we have in during the summer is a back up keeper back up centre back and tom cleverly. In my opinion we would go backwards again. let's just hope there are plans behind the scenes to fix the problems of this season first and foremost replace martinez

Bill Kenwright took it on himself to appoint him and it would appear he was the interviewing pane! (Something that must never happen again)
No blame? Sorry he is complient in this fiasco.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Mar 2015 17:54:39
Yes he appointed him and with hindsight its easy to point the finger, it was a gamble, one that at the end of last season seemed to have paid off. So BK backed his choice with a fair wad of cash and he has flopped.

So long as he does right by the club and the fans and rectifies the mistake that has been made, fair enough. BK is only guilty (so far) of appointing a man he genuinely thought would take us to the next level and move the club forward and backing him in the transfer market.

To be honest most of us (me included) Were taken in by this charlatan last year, it was a mistake plain and simple and one you can not guarantee will not happen again, no matter who does the interviewing, unless you take the safe option (a pulis type manager) And settle for mid table mediocrity as your goal.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 18:10:48
There wasn't an interview panel. Brown Shoes told Bill ''I will get you in the Champions League' and Bill said ''Fair enough, sign here'.

At least we stayed up today, thank you Burnley, QPR and Leicester. let's just hope there are 3 teams as hopeless as them next season so we can survive again next year. Can't wait.

Even if Bill Kenwright comes out and backs his Manager he's goi g to get slated for it by the fans. he's better keeping his head down.

I don't see any blame for him. He used to get slated for not coughing up money. He coughs up money and still gets slated.

The only people to blame are the players and manager. Even then I think the players have put the energy in but as we all know the same old tactics have let them down.

Either way we have to back the players as if we don't we will get relegated. All these clubs at the bottom expect to be down there so the fans are on their side. If anyone has been at goodison lately know its not been the case with us blues.

Loyalty is an admirable quality in a person, sticking by someone who may need support in their time of need. That, however, is only in the real world. Loyalty and football no longer go hand in hand, the days of a player/manager staying with one club are a thing of recent past.
I like BK and think he gets too much grief from us fickle fans, especially when things seem to conspire against us. I understand that he is the figure head of our club, and with that he is fair game to jump on in troubled times. But maybe our anger should be directed at the collective, the many rich people who sit on the board and make the decisions. The very people who seem to hold us back whenever we are on the verge of being competitive with the big boys of the league.
However, as much as I like the man and what he has done for our club (taking us out of the clutches of PJ for a start) I can't argue with some of you who believe he should have already come out and addressed the fans over our current plight. It is blatantly obvious to us all that RM has not been the signing we thought, that, despite the relative success of his first season, he is the man who got Wigan relegated. He is the man that brought 4 of that championship squad to play for us. Only one of which has been a success (J.Mc), the other 3 have struggled somewhat.
We need to be kept in the loop, we help to pay their wages after all, we can see how bad things have gone and where we should be heading. A statement of confidence from BK would be a start, relieving RM of his duties would be the icing on the cake.
As I write this, Burnley and Leicester are both getting beat. We travel to London to play the other team occupying the relegation places with a 6 point buffer zone. A win would be helpful in taking us away from danger. A defeat could destroy what little confidence the players seem to have, dragging us back in to a fight none of us want to be in. A defeat should also bring down the axe on RM's tenure before things take a further turn for the worse.
Come on Bill, talk to us and give us an idea of where the board stands. Us fans have made it clear where we stand, it is time for the people who matter, those at the top, to tell us where they stand

Martinez is a jumped up pip squeek, with an inflated view of his own ability, but he will soon be forgotten, if not forgivern for what he has done to our club, but, it is Kenwright who will go down in history as the man who's ego, allowed this fraud to remain in place rather than admit he made a gross mistake (a) in appointing him and (b) not haveing the guts to get rid. If we were to go down, Kenwright would never be forgivern.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 16:53:44
You are right of course JCW, however, anything BK does at the moment would be a no win situation. If he had pulled the trigger before we went out of the Europa then he would have been blamed by some when we went out. Likewise if he comes out and makes a statement that does anything other than support the manager he would be accused of undermining his position. If he gives a statement of support then pulls the trigger he is accused of being a hypocrite.

I think (but can not be sure) That during Moyes's second season he did give his support during the season, so his total silence since well before Christmas may be an indication he is considering the clowns position.

At the end of the day, if he does nothing while we are six or more points above the drop zone then sacks him at the end of the season, he can not be accused of not giving him a chance of turning it around. Likewise by not publicly supporting el bobo it gives him the option of pulling the trigger if we get closer to the drop zone before the season ends.

But really when you think about it if we go down this season, it doesn't matter who the manager is, BK goes down in history as the man at fault. Either because he didn't sack the clown soon enough or because he did and the replacement was not up to the job.

I'm not saying I agree with BK's stance but I can understand it to an extent.

Ah well, another deja vu Saturday! Desperately hoping the teams in the top half of the table beat the teams lower, (not many, I know), or around us. And there was me, at the beginning of the season, thinking we'd be looking towards, (at least), the top 4! What makes it all the more galling is, that on paper, (with a few notable exceptions!) we have the best squad we've had in years!

Heard from a source who works at the club saying stones named in team at lunch time and then dropped by softarse because him and garbutt were playing pranks on the players in the hotel surely this would have helped ease the tension this little bonaparte has to go god help his young daughter in later life if this is his response to having some fun he is the only manager in world football to take a lead into a game and then go 4 3 3 when we got the away goal it should have gone to 4 5 1 and make them push for the next goal leaving them open to the countet attack I know in my own heart if moysie was still here we would be going to italy next month for the quarters

i hope if that is true that no long lasting grudges are held. Stones by far is the best prospect for the future both for club and country. The club management if they have any intention of making progress have not only to make sure he stays at the club but to build the future around him. He is definitely future captain material. also another that Moyes found and brought to the club.

Regarding a next manager. We've had 2seasons with a foreign manager, first good and second bad. It's a toss up what a third would be like but I am not optimistic. The only foreign to come in and not go on a spending spree is Koeman at Southampton. could they get him. Our manager knew when he applied and presented himself for the job by promising Champions league, that it would involve travel throughout Europe. He also knew we didn't have a mid winter break. So can't use these as excuses for failure. I am beginning to think failure in the cups was deliberate in order to create a break to progress in the Europa.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 10:34:56
Just a quick point on koeman. He's spent 81 mil. Yes they sold a few players but lambert, lovren and lallanna are proving they were overrated and Shaw is not a 30 mil player.

Hes done a good job but I think he is already being found out. How he comes back next season will show if he has something special.

I want someone who isn't new and is getting results season after season. Van gaal is coming good because he is adapting that's what great managers do.

If it is a new upcoming manager then eddie howe, alan stubbs or for the passion in me Duncan Ferguson.

It was me that said Bill won't sack Brown Shoes. And even if, or should I say WHEN we lose tomorrow, he still won't get sacked. I've been calling for his head since November but find it is pretty pointless as it is not going to happen.

If we do lose against the worst team in the league, then he should be sacked before he gets on the team bus.

21 Mar 2015 12:10:01
Personally I am beginning to think Swan, Mike, Stef and others are right. There is no sign of any action from the top, BK's seems to be auditioning for the part of the invisible man.

I honestly can not think of any other established club in the PL where he would still be in a job given this season's results/performances. So it looks like we are stuck with him for at least another season (or part of one) And that is a real worry.

Lets face it, we are not the wealthiest club in the league, if el Bobo is allowed to spend the transfer budget in the summer, bringing in phenomenal quality players of the standard of say Alcaraz, Kone, McGeady, Atsu etc. Even if he was sacked part way through next season, what chance would a replacement have of putting things right?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Mar 2015 08:41:50
I think we all got carried away with last season. I never wanted Moyes to leave as the job he did over 10 years was fantastic. I didn't know who I wanted as manager but was never keen on RM, but I must admit last season I thought he was magnificent but he can't survive because of one good season. He has been found oyt but as that's the way he wants to play he won't change. The reds had a bad srart but Brendan abandoned plan A and has turned there season around RM is too stubborn and as much as I love BK and what he has dun for Everton its now time for him to speak to us fans about RM. We need to know wats going to happen, plan A won't be changed RM would sooner take us down than admit his ractics are wrong as he did wiv Wigan. Were not Spanish and we don't play in Spain so RM give us our identity bk and let us play like an English team wiv hugh energy and an up and at em opportunity, we can mix it up wiv the players we've got and i'm sure there as frustrared as we are. Barry, Howard, McGeady, Alcatrash and a couple of others need to go. Feel sorry for Gibbo, Garbutt, Oviedo, Besic. I would also sell Baines, fantastic player but he's 30 and if we keep him were going to lose a potential world class lb in Garbutt. And tell Barkley to just play were he wants and enjoy the game, maybe we will c the best of him then wiv less responsibility

I really cannot take it in, that people are now starting to talk as if we will be stuck with the arrogant little TS Eliot next season. This man has almost single handily destroyed our club. As thing stand, it has left us clinging to the hope that there are three worse sides than ourselves.Surly the Wigan lesson is their for all to see. Mr Kenwright, you are not the only one who stood in the boys pen in the 1960's, I did too, but, because you have gone on to be an actor and a west end lovey, you have not earned the right to treat the club as your own personal theftdom, show some respect to the rest of us, and get rid of this fraud, preferably, first order of bussiness saturday morning.
