Never like to raise any negatives especially after a good win but Walcott has to be dropped in my opinion. Just doesn’t cut it.

1st for assists and 3rd on goals after Sig and Ricky. Not too shabby.

He was pretty ineffective yesterday but has stats like BJU says. But now Lookman has given the manager something to think about.

I think it was more to do with the RB and LB not being allowed too far forward to overlap due to Townsend and Zaha. Both him and Bernard were isolated.

22 Oct 2018 13:26:26
Walcott is one of those players who worries defenders just by being there. Interplay between him and Seamus was bound to be a bit rusty. Nice to have Lookman applying pressure on both him and Bernard though, something that has been lacking in the past.

I see where you’re coming from with his stats even if it is just the 2 goals and assists but I think he’s been pretty poor all season. He does absolutely nothing for 90% of the game, misplaces passes, doesn’t do enough defensively and quite often misses easy opportunities. That miss when Sigurdsson played him through was criminal, not that it mattered in the end but real quality players step up and take those chances when they come. Clearly Silva sees something in him to have him starting every week, but I think once Bernard gets fully up to scratch Walcott will be in and out the team (I think he’s better suited to away games when we play on the counter) and Tosun will come back into the ST role. More than likely a lot of you will have a different opinion but I think if we’re to be a top quality team then we need to be ruthless and drop underperforming players such as Walcott. Remember the guy couldn’t cut it at a bang average Arsenal team last year.

3rd game on the bounce with least touches of an outfield player and is averaging 1 tackle a game and 0.6 interceptions. i no his job isn't to win the ball but for me that shows a real lack of involvement in the game.
He frustrates me as he's a top player but drifts threw games then has moments of brilliance, bit more involvement and effort and he would be a star where as now he's looking a bit of a weak link.

Like I said, at least the manager is being offered other options from other players now. Often in these situations, a player gets one goal and all the confidence come flooding back. His stats over many seasons have been better than now. A bit of patience may be needed.

The international break clearly broke our rhythm. It took us 70 minutes to get it back but I thought we were excellent throughout the match. We never looked in serious trouble until the pen, but it was a safe pen and Pickford punished them.

The most pleasing thing for me is that we had ideas on the bench and the manager used them well. All three subs were attacking options when it would have been easy to give Mina minutes, Silva went for the kill instead. Well done Marco.

Man U away is a free hit so to speak, but I would love to pick up points there. If we can then we are on a well earned run and that could really put the top six under pressure.

Finally, whilst I understand that palace are a team we should be beating without being disrespectful, we did a better job of overcoming them than you know who did with one shot on target against Huddersfield. Yet they are looking to win the league. Really pleased, very positive and ultimately feeling blue in the best possible way.

COYB.

Hey johny1989 he is only having a little dig at our rivals. allow him that little luxury once in a while. His main point is the improvement on last season and I am 100% in agreement with him. There is no comparisson between our current squad and the one we had last season. The squad had been badly managed fot 5 or 6 seasons and at last we now have a manager who has brought some real quality in and is also using the youngsters at a rate that allows their progression. Compare the squad of yesterday with any squad from any of last seasons games and the difference is obvious!

i no degs just does my head in mate, celebrate the blues forget bout them, also just a point, until wer consistently above them i wouldn't throw too many shouts about them round, there playing terrible but are joint top conceded 3, scary thought is at some point there gunna come good and us slagging at them will look very very silly.

Thanks Degs, and Johny1989 I will try not to embarrass you in the future. arhhh who am I kidding. You got no chance mate. I will never stop winding them up and being wound up in return. I just enjoy having digs at that lot too much to ever stop. But as Degsy said it’s about the winning so let’s just enjoy that too.

More faith needs to be shown I Lookman. I have been saying this for ages now. He makes things happen. Plus Richarlison shouldn't be played as a striker.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2018 20:31:08
I don’t see why we need to be so rigid in our positions?
Richarlison, Bernard, Walcott, DCL or Lookman they can rotate their roles through a game. Teams find it harder to pick players up when moving into different roles.
I know he spent most the game on the floor and got some stuck today. Who would take Zaha though he would add to the above names?

21 Oct 2018 21:30:44

I can't believe they wanted more than 75 mil for him.

As for Lookman I think he's has to earn his place. His attitude hasn't been great but Silva seems to handling him well.

23 Oct 2018 11:03:28
It's not about rigidity for me. It's about him looking like one of our best players so far not playing in the position he does so well in.

I love the fact that we can keep going to the final whistle and capable of scoring late goals. Not everyone will relish playing us. Thought the substitutions once again worked well. I am convinced we have a master tactician in charge. Old Trafford will be trembling already lol.

Palace defended well but we have to work out how to break teams like this down. Far too often we make average-at-best teams look good. Great goals by DCL and Cenk and that save by Pickford! Brilliant result after what was looking like a bit of a stalemate. We need to up the tempo next week against Man Utd.

Great result today we have a Gem in Gomes and whole team were good, as for Marco brilliant subs and to see his passion at the end on the pitch congratulating his players True Gent and definitely here for the duration.

He was solid and assured for the most part and didn't give you the jitters like Shneids does. Bit short of match fitness but that's to be expected. Looks good for future games. The subs were the difference today.

Hey Ed these latest rumours surfacing today re Bill Kenright wants to bring Usmanov to Everton where upon Bill will step down and let him take his place to partner Mr Moshiri, any substance in this mate, i have a feeling this could be the real deal and the final piece of the jigsaw before the stadium takes shape, what a ride that would be.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I thought this had been pretty much done to death. As of July 2019 Moshiri will own all but 23% of Everton shares, where would Usmanov's holding come from. The club has repeatedly said that this is Moshiri's baby and Usmanov has been looking closely at full takeovers of two Italian sides. I am not aware of anything happening in recent days to change that. Is this a new story or is it the same story that was thrown up a few weeks ago?}

21 Oct 2018 20:52:12
Regarding Usmanov coming its not old news this will obviously happen despite Kopites hateing the thought. Why would he go to the Italian league? There's no money in it for him. The prems the only place to be for someone like Usmanov (world coverage, advertising etc) He's actually said Everton aren't where they should be, why would he say that? He's said he's open to helping his friend Farhad. Tell me another club he's made several comments about.

You can't because he hasn't (apart from saying he's not interested) Sponsoring Finch Farm selling his shares in Arsenal wanting to get involved with a Prem team again. Moshiris business partner suddenly an expert in Everton's history. The clues are all there. Look at the change with 1 billionaire wait till we've got 2!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2018 22:57:39
Him buying into the club doesn't change anything. We're moving forward just fine and whether he comes or not won't make a difference.

He'll probably help Moshiri in other ways but what I got from Usmanov in interviews was that it is Moshiri's baby and he would help him but not necessarily in buying into the club.

Without stirring up a hornets nest or seeming to be in the knowledge. I did read one comment by Ushmanov that seemed a little strange or could be deemed as a hint that he will become involved in some way. He was directly quoted as saying something along the lines of that now he was without a football club, he was going to try and help out his good friend Moshiri. Now that could be interpreted as meaning a few things, but I certainly see that it might mean an involvement in EFC because how else could he be "helping" his friend Moshiri without some financial involvement in EFC. We know he is already sponsoring Finch Farm. which is really just dipping his toe in the water. A statement like the one he made hints at bigger things to me. But maybe I am just being over wishful? He also made this statement after the Finch Farm agreement. so I guess we will know pretty soon if anything will develop and then at least ED002 can have a rest from answering all these questions.
