Need lads or lasses who were there to confirm but bloody hell we look good?
Lukaku possible new Dunc?
Not sure but second half suggests we will be in mix for top 4 spot?
Not getting carried away because Baines to Utd in Jan and new Dunc back to Chelski in May!
But hey ho, a good season (and they lost, ha!)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Baines is going nowhere in Jan, if United would not pay the money in the summer, what makes you think they will stump up the money in Jan.
Luke Shaw will go to United next summer, Evra will do them till then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Slightly better than bigdunc I think

I know its too early to judge properly but what's everyones opinion on james mcarthy? Apart from his penalty mistake I thought he played class today and bossed the midfield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I honestly didn't think that was a penalty - both of his legs are stationary and on the floor in places where they ought to be - right below him and not sticking out - looks like no or minimal contact and their lad goes for it - although McCarthy did look guilty with his mannerisms like fiddling with his nose and he didn't complain at all - it didn't look like a pen to me - he doesn't trip him ar anything - what do others think?

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't disagree more. I don't like singling out any one player as it's the Team that won us the football match but after a couple of appearances I think 15m was far too much to pay for him. We most definately could of won the game/s without him and I know he hasn't started yet but I'm just answering your question and for me for that much we definatlety could of spent more wisely ( Diame springs to mind ). Infact all of the ex Wigan players are yet to convince me. Still although I don't sound it I'm one happy Evertonian like the rest of us. Joe1878 {Ed025's Note - give the lad a break joe!...he has not played a full game yet, and is still finding his feet..

Agree0 Disagree0

I was just answering the question Ed . " I know he hasn't started a game yet but I'm just answering your question ". I also hope he can find his feet become a regular starter and prove me wrong but I just see it as a lot of money to shell out for another Wigan player who I saw have a few good games in the fa cup towards the end of last season. Apologies if anyone took offence but it's just my answer. Its probably too early to judge anyway, no it is too early to judge. Joe1878 {Ed025's Note - i just wish people would get over the wigan thing joe, to me it doesn,t matter whether they played for barcelona or barnet, they are our players now, forget the past, the future is what matters mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting on my tits now Ed as well. So because they played for Wigan somehow they are not good enough? It's ridiculous, players have to start their career somewhere you know joe. I don't know whether anyone knows this but we signed Baines from Wigan, oh but of course he played for Wigan so he's not good enough is he?

BitterBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah your right mate. I believe I have a personal vendetta for Mr Whealen rather than Wigan Athletic anyway. Let's hope Barnet have got some world beaters in Janurary so we don't have to call him up . again! Well chuffed with our start to the season on the other hand and no way Newcastle will be getting anything but a kick in the teeth when they visit a week Monday. can't see Fulham doing us any damage in the cup neither. Here's to the future! Coyb! Joe1878

Agree0 Disagree0

Leighton Baines is a different kettle of fish Bitter Blue plus he literally didn't cost us half as much, infact he was a steel and even very obviously at the time was a decent left back. With McCarthy I was just giving my answer to the question and my opinion. Again I hope he proves me wrong. Joe1878

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see both sides of this one. In terms of the lad cost us a lot, however, two points.

First of all as others have said he needs time to settle in, the majority of players do. let's be honest here Barry and Lukaku are exceptional in the way they have hit the ground running, in fact Barry looks like he has been with us for years.

Secondly RM sees something in the lad that in his opinion makes him worth what we paid. That will do for me, Given time to settle I think he is going to be a big player for us for years to come.

As for where he came from. what has that got to do with anything? He played for Wigan, so what? Seamus came from Sligo Rovers, No offence to them but they are not exactly Giants of world football, and it has not stopped him turning into a top class Premiership player has it? This ex Wigan thing was boring when it started, now it is just getting ridiculous.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines cost 6 million at the time it was a lot for a left back and that was a while ago Macarthy is worth every penny wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Sep 2013 21:10:37
Baines value must have gone up 10 mil today - Moyes you melon you could have got him for 15 or 16 probably in the summer instead of that ridiculous bid of 12 - now you're looking at 25 for a guy who can do that

Man city, Madrid and host of other clubs won't let Man United have him for less than that!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think we would of sold him for 15, 16 in the summer mate. Even then he was worth 25m +

Blimey some f the half time posts are negative. amazing. In any case for numerous reasons today I was forced to listen to the blues game and watch the reds with sound off. people complaining about blues in first half. trust me the reds have spent far more and IMO were well outplayed today by the saints. Everton came from behind twice to win the game. second half sounded like it was all everton, and tbh first half was even. I reckon rm has got his tactics all spot on with the players. He's basically told last years guys. Clean slate I'll give you all a crack. but I think jela will be on way in January. I for one am delighted with rm so far in every aspect of his mgmt. much to my surprise.jcl

it was great to see luka score on his debut and wonderful performance from bainsey. I think as the season progresses we will get better and more solid as a team.
i'm not counting my chickens but I can see us top 6 at least this season and if the gods are with us a trophy as well

Lukaku comes off at end after scoring the winner with a head injury. No worries, he'll go into a loo roll his sleeve up and hit those 'alien buttons' on his wrist for self medication.
Yes the PREDATOR has arrived!

Great win today and so encouraging to see RM make changes at half time when there's still plenty of time. I knew Naismith would secure his place in the starting line up today after scoring v Chelski but once again he has reminded us all he is mediocre and after today's appalling performance I hope he goes back to warming the bench. As for Lukaku he is immense although I expect he may be rested for Fulham which is ok because the one player I want to see on the pitch is Deulofeu. I know it's horses for courses and there has to be a balance of defensive and skillful midfielders out there but the kid is astounding - get him involved. Otherwise not a bad performance from Baines today!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ye made up he didn't wait till 75mins like we was doing last season to make a swop, you playing bad get off the pitch, changed the game completely

Posted at half time at how poor we were, but that second half was as good a performance as I've seen from the mighty blues, great changes by Bobby, both in players and tactics, not afraid to take risks, Lukaku is sensational, power, pace, touch, bravery and an eye for goal!

Great to see us go for it when the chips were down! and as for Bainsey, nothing I can say. Legend!!!

Interesting question. If you could take the table as it stands now, would you? This would mean champions league football for Everton, at the cost of a Liverpool championship win, with the added little sweetener of Man U finishing 7th and Moyes been shown the door at Old Trafford. It's a tricky one!.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How can it be a tricky one we would be in champions league could not care less who wins league it's a no brainier apart from you let us know when you come to your decision

Not a chance on this earth do I ever want to see them lot win the league again, so it's a big NO from me.

Got a feeling Lukaku will be on bench at start today due to lack of matches behind him.
Great shame if so, alternative tactic. give him the first 30 minutes, win the game at 3.30 and have an oxygen mask ready on the touchline.

little annoyed reading how gerrard has advised barkley to stay at everton for his career the club he loves and become a legend simply for the fact I love hating gerrard but that statement kinda makes you think mehhh he's not so bad. who am I kidding he's still a right person but nice to see ross is learning from him and taking his advice as although we all hate the little so and so he's world class and ross can learn a lot from the ****

Theres too many to mention, even Manny Fernandes goal V Manchester United was one of the best strikes of the ball ever.

One thing you have to admire with Stevie g is that he has been very loyal even though he is never going to win the prem title he remained at the club he loves and if he gave that advise to Barkley then I'm grateful for him doing that
