getting away from takeover talk a win against the geordies on sat and a result at home against stoke could put us back in the champs league frame and set us up nicely for the game against spurs were those horrible draws we keep getting would not be a bad result.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its just frustrating corny, we look so good at times and then so abject in some games, i dont think we are a mile away from being a really good side but we have to stop dropping silly points mate..

23 Dec 2015 21:15:29
cud not agree more ed its a case of so near yet so far its only frustrating mate because we all know were we could be but get annoyed at where we are but more frustraitng is ed is that this is the season for at least 2 clubs to really make a charge on the top 4 and the teams that are making that charge r the teams you would not put money on and this team is really capable of doing it but seem intent on blowing the chance. this could be our only chance for a few more years ed to get into the top 4, but if the take over happens then its a different ball game.

hey Eds not seen Ed 25 for a bit, is he ok or has this takeover rumour finally put him in the nutty ward, I know he wasnt a big fan of them.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im back degs, had computer problems mate and your right im not a big fan of a faceless takeover mate..success at any cost?..not for me..

23 Dec 2015 21:27:51
glad to see you back Ed, we have been getting edited by Xmas spirit Ed2 lol, you know youre going to get headaches over the next few weeks mate, not only a transfer window but takeover too, hope you have a few bottles of Whiskey stocked for Xmas, all the best to you and the other Eds too fella.

23 Dec 2015 21:55:21
Success at any cost?

I like that Ed. I would be apprehensive about any takeover myself Ed. But I have faith in Bill. I think he'll stand by saying he'll only sell if its right for Everton. He would get it hard to live it down if he sold us out.

In big Bill I do trust. Just hope his judgment is correct.

Spot on NBTB. Without trying to put a dampener on this saga, I just hope that Bill's health is of a position to keep to his word and it's not that he has to sell immediately.

24 Dec 2015 09:13:30
That did cross my mind as well spudv. But I think Bill will stick to his word no matter what.

Just looking at some stats and we are conceding an average of 1.41 goals per game so far this season, up from 1.31 last campaign.

Also during Martinez's first successful season in charge Everton averaged 1.02 goals conceded per game. Steadily getting worse each season, but shouldn't be with the talent we have at the back.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

23 Dec 2015 17:00:29
I wonder why it was a lot lower the first season? Anyone any idea?

Wouldn't you think with a £50m plus centre half who is a future England captain it would better. Along with the right back that has played there for years. A new left back who some people think should be starting before Englands first choice left back.

Along with the new buy who everyone is saying was a good signing. We also have the same keeper as 2 years ago. Apart from Howard's decline and the good defenders we have is there any other reason?

Manager? I can't really remember the season before Martinez took over. What was the defence like then? And 5 or 6 years before that?

Was the defence leaking goals easily? If it was it's nothing new. If it wasn't, what on earth would be the reason we weren't leaking goals easily back then?

Emmmmm.

Already said that the first season the Team were still operating on Moyes residual, last season and this Roberto's staff methods are bedding in. TalkSport on Everton takeover, 'a team of Evertons standing should not be finishing in 10th or 11th, especially with an ambitious Manager', well he can have all the ambition in the World but he has to apply that ambition. Van Gale asking the media if they wish to apologise and he has a point, they say they are just reporting but what they are actually doing is stirring the brown stuff.

John Moores taking over Everton?!
Am I dreaming? The sixties are back, now all we need is a new calla and a fab four to complete the Holy Trinity!

Don't think anything will happen soon with this take over we need a new ground which will take years to happen and not sure how long our stadium will pass it's health and safety we could be forced to play else where think it's all a bit to late but hope I'm wrong.

. delighted to see the news of a possible takeover of Everton fc in the 6 weeks according to various press sources this morning. I think it's high time that Bobby was put under more pressure to start achieving what this current squad has the definite potential to achieve!

With a little luck, they might decide on a fresh start and put our "great" manager on the first donkey back to spain, with our CEO to carry his bags.

If the take over is true certain players could decide to stay, Brilliant .

Everton have a history of trying to lift gloom of a run of bad results at Xmas time with a curve ball rumour, until there's big back page sold sign in the red echo I'll take it with a pinch of salt, a result at Newcastle will do for starters!

Believable0 Unbelievable3

23 Dec 2015 19:06:54
It was back page of the Times Baz but I don't think they are the first group to be given exclusive time to look at our books. Suppose we'll know more in 6 weeks.
There's also an article on how we need investment or we will always be a selling club, pointing out we will find it hard to keep hold of Stones, Rom and Ross this summer.

just to come back again on how much this take over and how much cash they have i have just read in the mirror that it is a consortiam which means plenty of cash but the main leader is a billionare so its just wait and see now.

My concern if and when a takeover takes place is which way the 'pendulum 'swings for Everton. . Man U under US ownership partly successful but as I understand massively in debt. Also chopping and changing players and managers.

Liverpool under US ownership, getting investment in ground development, money available for players but far from successful on the pitch.

Then we have Aston Villa under US ownership, now up for sale, have sold their better players and not brought quality replacements and bottom of the league.

Evertonians will want investment in Goodison or a new ground, investment in the team. Any new owner should and will not be happy with the current results and performances. This will put pressure on Martinez to improve at his job or replacement will be found.

I personally keep an open mind about where a takeover comes from, because at the end of the day an investor wants a return on his investment. The days of an owner running a club for the fun of it are long gone.

Seasons greetings to everyone.

Good! Martinez needs pressure on him as he has been in the comfort zone for to long now, so hopefully theses new owners will make him up his game as he needs too.

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Dec 2015 11:04:32
your right mike robbie has been in the comfort zone far to long and this might be the kick up the arse he needs, you never know mate if this gets done and jose or any other big name manager hear about it they might think wow everton a huge club with massive potential a huge fan base this club could really take off with cash to spend, and with superb players allready there it could be a happy new year, so just hold on for a few weeks jose and pep and be very worried robbie la COYB.

Agree2 Disagree1

23 Dec 2015 11:17:27
I wouldn't be getting carried away. Pressure on Martinez would be no harm. But talking about Jose and Pep coming is slightly pre-mature. Don't you think?

I have faith in Bill. I do believe he will only sell if he thinks its in Everton's best interest. One step at a time. If we get taken over then we can start dreaming.

Kind of.

These things tend to drag on, especially in Everton's case (transfers discussed then discussed again then again, you get the picture) , however, we have waited 10 years and that should be some kind of record. Hopefully this can be completed before the window closes and real pressure put on Martinez to extract that finger. The fella is really made of Teflon, when you think of the speculation surrounding Utd and Cities Managers, 5th and 3rd respectively, it is absolutely amazing Martinez does not even rate a mention.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Dec 2015 11:59:46
We are playing great football and with any reasonable luck and less of poor referee decisions we would be in the top 5. WE outplayed Leicester at the weekend but didn't get the breaks. We have excellent young talent and good experience to balance the enthusiasm. Yes there is a problem with your goalkeeper and yes Martinez is stubborn about selection and subtitutions but to say RM is in a comfort zone is bullshit. I would rather watch the boys playing the way they are this season than any under Moyes.
wellzee.

Agree0 Disagree5

23 Dec 2015 12:46:46
wellzee, nothing to do with luck, Palace at home I will gove you, Norwich too many missed chances, Goalkeeping errors against Liverpool, Arsenal and City, didn't create anything against Leicester and they took their chances. We are were we should be give or take a place.

The truth is we have become too predictable, everyone has sussed us out. Its the same old same old every week. Same tactics, same line up, and our managers inability and stubborness to change things making it easy for other teams to set up against us. When plan A is not working you try plan B. Thing is Martinez hasn't got a plan B, resulting in us leaking goals and dropping points time after time, we can't carry on like this week in week out its a dangerous game to keep playing imo.

Quite like the sound of the new 'prospective takeover' they are offering £30M less than the Kansas consortium did? Haven't quite worked that out yet, but these guys are rich (granted not super rich) but rich enough to build a stadium and sustain the club financially meaning we can put the whole TV budget into the transfer kitty? Also undoubtedly they will make us a bigger name in America and internationally, but I do think a lot of this depends on how we treat TH over the coming months as he is idolised and adored in the states, I just hope because they aren't super rich that they have some grace with the ticket prices for game, there will be an increase that's obvious I just hope it's not to much! - makes me wonder will big blue bill sanction any funds for transfers in January knowing he's going to be sold up by February?

Talkspo saying the same about takeover 200mil from some yanks. Now we all want our club to move forward and are desperate to be bought. But I do not trust yanks to run a 'soccer team' they do not instand what football is.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - considering one of Everton's major shareholders in the last few years is an American, that is just a bigoted viewpoint from a small minded individual. I bet you weren't saying that when Landon Donovan was in the team.}

ZuluToffee, I wouldn't worry, they make so much money in the States that investment in our Club is just chump change and their expertise in clubs such as Utd is not brought into question, what these guys do is bring in local knowledge and expertise (Mourinho etc! ) .

23 Dec 2015 13:13:32
Ed 01 it is just my opinion yank owners are not great in running football clubs. And has Robert earl invested in taking the thr club forward. Oh donovan was a great player for us not an owner or part owner.

Happy xmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it may be an opinion, but it is a small minded and bigoted one. You are judging people based on their nationality. There are plenty of Americans who know far more about football than you do I am sure. Try educating yourself.}
