Well we gave it a go at least. We probably should have at least got a draw out of that. Poor defending cost us in the end. I know DCL missed a few opportunities but he has improved his game immensely this season.

Sigurdsson was extremely poor today. Iwobi had 2 good chances in the first half but woeful shooting let him down. Pleased to see Andre Gomes back in on the action. Baines got a rare run out as well.

Sidibe was like decent one minute then poor the next. I'm not sold on him as our main right back so I wonder if the club do actually buy him after his loan spell ends? .

Agree mate Siggy was awful lots to do on. the training ground.

Sidibe was left isolated by Iwobi not covering and going inside far too much. Got to be taking the chances when they come along, if we had a striker of Aubameyangs quality we would have won that game by miles.

Poor defending first half. Second half midfield were asleep for their third but after that could easily have drawn/ even won. Good effort.

wouldnt say iwobi had 2 great chances. first one maybe was a great chance, wasnt a poor shot though was close. second one was hardly a chance. gylfi was awful yeah i don't see this side going the places we hope with a lazy uninterested player in the midfield who hides like he does.

Iwobi had good opportunities to score and he didn't hit the target either time if I remember correctly. If we had scored and made it 0-2 then I think we could have won and seen the game out. Bad misses at crucial times in the game. I'm not blaming him solely though because we had enough opportunities to score but didn't. We had 17 shots in total but only 5 on target in the entire game compared to Arsenals 9 shots 4 on target (3 of those went in) . Arsenal conceded defensively worse goals than us I'd say but we still switched off and got hit with killer passes which ultimately resulted in goals. Poor marking and not blocking the cross coming in were detrimental to our downfall.

Iwobi doesn’t get over the ball when shooting, but leans back, which is why he doesn’t get a shot on target. Weird really as you would think this would be something they would practice during the week.

I would take Siggy out of the team and play Bernard further in as a number ten.

Good player in Bernard but think he could offer so much more not playing out wide.

Unfortunately I think we have the worse midfielders in the prem except Gomez but sorry for me the rest can go.

We need more pace and creativity in our midfield that much is obvious to me. The comments coming up may seem harsh to some but I think most will agree with me that it's in our best interests to find alternative solutions for these players.

1. Sigurdsson - looked well off the pace (has done all season) and even Gary Neville mentioned how bad he was (for once I agree with Gary) . I think it's time we moved him on.
2. Delph - I'm not a fan of and didn't really want us to sign. I just don't know what he offers the team apart from a backwards pass.
3. Iwobi - runs and runs but essentially doesn't really do anything.
4. Schneiderlin - has been better lately but has had enough chances now so another to go for me.
5. Walcott - too little end product and has been the same throughout his career.

Gomes and Bernard are the ones I'd keep. Nobody really knows about Gbamin as we've hardly seen him play. Basically look to rebuild our midfield in the summer. Wildcard entry is Holgate. I think he could play in midfield. I've been impressed with his passing range and reading of the game.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with any of that howie mate..

sig we are going to take a huge hit on. to be able to get even anywhere 20million will be hard with the wages he's on.

24 Feb 2020 09:08:44
Gomez prior to his injury showed his class at times. I will however go against the grain on here and criticise his slowness of play. We have an abundance of midfielders with the ability to pass sideways and backwards. Add to that we have the huge problem of having to lighten our wages bill. This is a 3 season at least project.

24 Feb 2020 09:11:24
Unfortunately GB even if we give them away we would still have to pay their wages until their contract run out and that has basically been our issue, recruitment pre Brands was shocking.

We were not the best In today's game but I saw a lot more in our team now Carlo is the boss. So much improved under him. He changes tactics mid game to adapt to the situation. Siggy was poor and we need some quality reinforcements. Great to see Gomes back . We had chances and really should have at least grabbed a draw. Give him he summer to move players in and out and we will tbe so much better. Think we may surprise a few people next season. Top 6.Maybe even top 4.

I think we need more goals from out midfielders, they very rarely socre. We rely on DCL and Richarlison too much. I thought iwobi was terrible.

We did enough to win the game today, we started with a funny team.

23 Feb 2020 19:35:54
Iwobi for me seemed to be trying too hard and wanted to try and prove a point against his old team. Thought in all honesty we played well today but some defensive mistakes cost us. We have a big decision to make in the summer regarding Sidibe. He is decent going forward but switches off too many games during a game which costs us.
Still we are 5 points off 5th place and we have a number of games against teams around us. Many positives to look at from today.

Geoffjohno don't get ahead of yourself. Given our current ffp, we should expect stability first which means a stable top 10 2020/ 21 then top 6 or 5 in 21/ 22.

23 Feb 2020 19:56:43
Iwobi was poor as were Siggy, Delph and Schneiderlin. No intensity when not in possession. Defence was poor too. DCL and Richarlison on the score sheet again is a big plus and Gomes long range passing was class, along with everything else about him.

Missing opportunities though to punish these teams away from home. Next season I hope will be different once Ancelotti makes a few changes.

Disagree DFS sell the deadweight in the team bring in a solid right sided player and we have the makings of a team that should easily be pushing for top 6.
People getting obsessed with FFP when they really don't understand it.

Dfs I didn't say throw millions at it. We don't need that. Just a few good players that fit in it the formations and style of play Carlo wants to do.

24 Feb 2020 09:26:05
Brassington. I understand that we were within 10 mill of FFP and we still have to see after this season. 20-21 we need to cut while at the same time continuing to improve. Not to do so risks punishment 21-22. I honestly believe the Club are addressing this and we will be okay. We are not the only one's but also not the worse and not the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Feb 2020 11:06:24
If only it was that easy just to sell them. Brands has tried but the last few are the hardest to shift, plus if we sell them we have to fill that spot. Also we don't know who Carlo wants to keep. He might love Schneids and Siggy and want to sell Bernard and Iwobi. We just don't know, we just know who we as fans don't want.

We are effectively -125million and that's before we know this years final number. Who knows what the sales of Gana, Vlasic, Onyekuru and Lookman will do to our P/ L for this year but the general consensus is we will lose 50-60 million. So unless we can guarantee 70-80 million from somewhere and no more major losses we are in a bit of trouble.

Until the club come out with a clear statement saying panic we are in the s**t, then I’m not going to worry about who or what we can afford. It is totally irrelevant to your average supporter. Too many people on here think they know what is happening, but they don’t.

23 Feb 2020 18:49:42
Well that was hard to watch. Hopefully we don't see Morgan and Delph together again it just doesn't work. Looked a lot better once Andre came on and showed Siggurdson what he should have been doing.
Still don't think we will make Europe, but Carlo must know by now who he wants to keep.

Yep mate and DCL had so many chances, don't think I have even seen a player fall from grace as Siggy poor poor passing, Carlo will sort this out Mr Moshiri must to have offered him a golden goose to get him.
