Just look at the goals jelavic scored when he came to us, there all class goals ok he dried up season after but wasn't playing were he should be
I really do think he is a top class striker and maybe Martinez can put him back on track, at least give him one more season he a great finisher, does anyone agree {Ed025's Note - i do mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jelly is and will always be a goal predator for whatever reason he dried up last season and I believe it was moyes who ruined him I believe he will come good next season with a more attacking and positive manager in martinez honestly I can't wait for him to start bangin the goals in again as we once remembered one touch goal second touch celebration coyb. What dya think ed? {Ed025's Note - you dont become a bad player overnight, he has the ability, of that there is no doubt, so maybe his attitude and commitment have to be in doubt..

Agree0 Disagree0

We where very attacking last season, and he did not score, he also wants to go. Martinez will have seen him in training and does not fancy him.
MJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Look we all know Moyes ruined strikers. Remember when the Yak turned up all thought that was our 20 goal man, but quickly lost interest when asked to run all over the park. Robbie will know what to do with the jelly man. Keep him in and around the area and he will score goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO jelavic was overweight last season. he looked leaner the season before. I agree moyes was playing him out of posititon though which did not help. still think he has got something but a lack of pace is a cause for concern.

Agree0 Disagree0

Annoys me that poeple use the excuse that he he was heading for the corners, we had the ball in the box constantly in the first 6 months, he was missing the ball completely from 5 yards out. moyes always played the same way so vwhat was he doing the first 6 months that he wernt doing last season

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelevic stopped scoring when we moved Felliani just behind him. We stated lumping long balls up to him for him to chest/head down. It's no coincidence that the goals dried up when we did that. Yes he was missing from 5 yards out but his confidence was absolutely shattered. Ed) I think it's unfair to question his comitment. He ran the line whenever he played all game and most times knowing it was coming to nothing. He is not the type of striker who can hold the ball up and put himself about to cause grief, he's a goal scorer and need to be played as one. I'm 1 million perr cent certain he will score plenty next season if he gets a chance.

I'm looking forward to the reaction of united fans when Moyes plays Van Persie on the wing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Jelly looked knackered last season following the Euro's. This year, with a decent break behind him and a different style of play, I'm sure he'll come good. as long as he isn't sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe they didn't tell Jelly to stop going down like he'd been shot everytime someone touched him and how to run the line.

It shows you how inept the training for our forwards has been over the years and why we were prolific under Moyes.

I think Martinez will bring the best out in him personally. He has an understanding of where to put the ball for the attackers with him being a Midfielder when a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelavic was a one season wonder. If he doesn't score with his first touch he doesn't do anything. Can't run with it, take players on or bring it down and pass it on. Plus he has an attitude. He is an instinct forward, and that makes him a dangerous player when he is on it. But If you gave me a choice of Jelavic, or 4m and Adam Le Fondre (valued around 2m) I'd pick the latter.

Why spend millions on mccarthy when we should just keep felli and allow barkley more opportunities.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think you quite understand the Felli situation. If we could 'just keep' him, we wouldn't be bothering with McCarthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said great comment

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but we still need someone to play the deep lying playmaker role when Gibson is injured

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish there's no reason why they can't play in same team.

Ha! It seems the Everton shop spelt the new Barcelona kids name wrong on the new shirts. They put Deufoleu instead of Delu Delay Depardu aaah forget it.

We shouldn't want Ince. He's a championship quality player. Think about it, Liverpool released him for a reason A few years back. The best players are rarely released. They probably only tried to sign him in January to cover the fact they were embarrased about letting him go in the first place because he looked exciting. Plus, since when does liverpool being interested in someone mean they're good? They're trying to get both Elia and cissoko now, both poor, poor player. This summer, only Cardiff have shown any interest, despite him being available cheaper because his clubs a mess. Most people have been unaffected by us missing Redmond and Fer because only Norwich were interested. Apply the same logic. He's overrated.

23 Jul 2013 21:55:03
We released jags and baines 2 name a few

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to slap your argument down, we released baines, he was not big enough to cope physically with top flight football, oh were we wrong!

EverTheOptimistic

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough, but the point still stands about there being little competition for his signature.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure we released Macmannaman too. Can't always get it right at that age. And to suggest Tom ince is just a quality championship player exposes your lack of knowledge of the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

We also released Barton

Agree0 Disagree0

John Ruddy was with us for a while. Could make a decent team out of our academy 'failures'

Ed can you share some gossip with us it's gone to silent transfer wise. Anything ed {Ed025's Note - it is quiet mate, lets just pray we keep hold of the crown jewels..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Any leaving gossip? Heitinga? If there's nothing incoming
Quinny

Agree0 Disagree0

Keeping hold of the Crown Jewels is something that Vinny Jones and Paul Gascoigne would clearly know about ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I am more than happy with the team as it is.

think RM is just waiting to see if any serious offers come in for Baines or Fellaini. he is going to wait to the end of the month then go out and bring a big'ish' signing in

Would personally snatch 8 million for yelavic, what about you ed? {Ed025's Note - if we got someone good with the full dosh ben..otherwise i would give him another season mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Hamburg are being iffy on the price and paying in instalments, are there any Hamburg players good enough to take as part payment? Or are they too strapped to part with anyone? And is the renewed interest in Sinclair indication that Jelly might be sold? On a geeky side note, every season I played on Fifa as a player or a manager of everton, Wolfsburg bought Jelavic for £10M. This happened like seven or eight times on different play throughs. Anyone else experience this? Or am I just a nerd with way too much time on his hands?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take 8 and buy a quick strong young striker with potential. Oh and Wolfsburg do always buy jelavic on my FIFA to

@onlyhaveeyesforblue I sold Jelavic for 27.5 million to Bayern Munich :D PKBLUE

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that's some damn fine business PK. I never said I was actually any good at FIFA. I play and play and play and still hoof it wide. Let's hope your sale really happens!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup it is easy just have him top scorer for two years sell him for 20million + :D pkblue

Honda not signing for milan! The cska direct has just announced! Come on bk get him signed up!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He wanna go to Milan. You want to stop him Oscar?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just been on cska site and transfer is off, unless Milan pay now, as they ain't letting him go for free in December. Milan are trying to find a sponsor to front the money for the player. Come on bk and rm get in there

Jc

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see Honda play for us, but it's probably not a good idea to force through a move for a player who doesn't want to play in the EPL. He's made his choice and he clearly favours pasta and pizza over fish and chips. CSKA are just having a cheeky punt on squeezing some cash out of Milan.

baffling me the way no one has triggered diame release cause of 3m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Reports recently suggested that the clause was a lot higher than the 3.5mil we were led to believe thus putting him out of our range

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe because he's not that good either

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard last year 5. 5 don't know how come became 3. 5. But 5. 5 still good price.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diame is a quality player who sometimes does a bit of a Felli and sulks. If Felli is worth 24mill then Diame is certainly worth up to 10mill. He is strong powerful and can pass, hold on to the ball and tackle. What more do you want from a holding midfielder?

Has Gary lineker been getting grief about his apparantley lack of respect for everton! On motd? He has tweeted saying he everton were the best club he ever played for and he has nothing but respect for them!
Anyway any news or gossip for us ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was born at Leicter. Grown up to be world class star at Everton. Faced difficulty at Barca with Mr. TV. Came back from disappointment to Spurs with Mr. TV. That's why he look love Spurs even people feel without Everton Lineker could be only 1 striker not 1986 world cup top scorer.

Agree0 Disagree0

I never understand what some of our fans problem is with Lineker, he played for one season for us over 25 years ago so why should he have any affinity with our club? He supports Leicester and won a trophy at Spurs so baffles me why some of our fans get upset when he talks more about those clubs than our own. I have no idea what the guy is suppose to say it's a bit of a joke really.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to clear things up. He has said that, even though he was with us for a short while, it was a happy time personally for him, and that he still has an affinity towards us. also, I think his words have been twisted a bit, because he said that Everton were the best club side that he has ever played in - referring to the the team that he played with, rather than the actual club.

I was always a staunch supporter of Moyes, but feel that recent events have greatly tarnished his excellent reputation ( gained at our club ) and relationship with our fanbase. This has been compounded by comments made to the media today.

Never having won at a top 4 club during moyes tenure, when I felt that we actually bottled it on several occasions can now be explained by his latest revelations that we went to United saying to ourselves " oh no we're going to Manchester United " and we used to say that we were " glad to get out of there alive " only confirm that the time was right for a change and that HMS Everton had become rudderless.

In Roberto Martinez, we have a manager who is a breath of fresh air. I believe that he will take us to Old Trafford without fear and able to express ourselves. I believe that Manchester United may well have done us a massive favour.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I lost all respect for him too after reading that and with him trying to take Baines. But your spot on mate how the hell are you going to motivate your team to get a win there if that is what you say to your players going there. I think Fergie leaving was a blessing in disguise for us now Moyes has just proved he was a bottler he won't last long there I guarantee it what I say now is Moyes who.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on. he played to not get beat but then invariably did.
awful record away to chelsea, arsenal, utd and lpool.
and managed to lose 3 times to lpool in one season and not even unlucky just downright awful tactics and selection. good riddence you sly rat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wait til next pre season and he can say. oh no. we off to everton again and me and me team are going to get a mauling. COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

We're did he say that, it explains a lot can't believe he has said this, is he trying to annoy all efc fans. He will be gone next year. Look forward to new style of play and so do the team going by there comments

Why has it taken so long for people to finally see what I have been saying all along? People should read what I put, absorb it, then just agree with me, as I am always right.

Mike (and Ed025): brilliant - many's the time I've read Mike's posts and thought to myself, "that Mike - he's certainly the font of all knowledge" - well, the word I was thinking of sure sounded like font ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

This is moyes your talking about sow some respect, stef, your 1 of the posters comments I'd read, you can't write of what he done for us, I'm a bit disappointed there stef
Uncle Ben {Ed025's Note - we liked him when he was here, but now hes gone, and we dont like the contempt he is showing us, by trying to steal our stars...so its a bit sweet and sour uncle ben... :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice one Ed, but how long have you been waiting to say that to Uncle Ben?! Bet you felt like Jelavic against Man City! {Ed025's Note - i cant help myself at times only.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The hypocrisy here is unreal. Head out of the sand guys! You are all quite happy and full of praise for Martinez taking his former players from Wigan. But when Moyes dares to do the same he is a disgrace. Whether any of you have the grace to admit it or not. David Moyes is the reason Martinez has inherited a fantastic team at a fantastic club. I have stated on here before that despite my allegiance being with Manchester United, I have a deep lying affection for Everton. I can understand frustration at not wanting to lose your best players, but that is football. the reality is a player is more likely to win a league medal with us rather than you. And I am honestly not saying that as a dig because I would be absolutely thrilled to see Everton win a league title and put a smile on my dad's face.

Red Rebel

Agree0 Disagree0

Red Rebel- there's a huge difference in Dave Whelan actively encouraging El Bob to bid for Wigan players and BK telling Gollum, Leighton Baines is not for sale or any of our other players, Fellaini excepted as it's well documented he has a release clause

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry red rebel, can see to the untrained eye how it looks but the fact is, we have paid the release clause for Kone, that clause is what he is worth, and since we matched it, he came to us. Moyes has stuck a derisory bid for our best payer. A player he valued at 20m+ last year. So to stick in a sub 12m bid is a disgrace in my opinion and shows us what he is about. I understand the Wigan comment but let's not forget, Joel came from At Madrid and alcaraz was free. I have little problem with coming for our players because he signed them in the first place, but pay what they are worth and don't try and get them on the cheap.

Hi, I have a question for the Eds, or anyone else who can help, (forget about our transfer budget, let's pretend we can afford all our targets for now), how is our wage structure looking? do we have to free up wages by selling before we bring anyone else in or are we in a position to add to it? Just wondering because it could be an indication of what might happen if we know what's available, ie 40k a week free so that's the calibre of player we could target

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wasn't Neville on around 50k a week? And then Moyes was bagging around 70k? Can't imagine we are paying Roberto the same but I don't know. I reckon with the new signings our wage bill right now is probably around what it was last season.

who would everyone say is the five fastest players in our team? i'd go for
1. mcaleny
2. distin
3. mirallas
4. deulofeu
5. kone

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure but I hope Martinez takes the quickest attacker and leaves him on the half way line when we're defending corners - so that if we clear it long we can turn defence into attack, and the chances are that the opposition will leave 2 men back near to him to defend against that possibility

at the moment we've got everyone in the box so their 2 defenders can stand 10-15 yards outside the box and punt any clearance straight back in to our box

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2013 10:55:49
Dont know mate but one thing I do know is that its not natural for someones size and age to be that quick

Distin the beast

Degs

Agree0 Disagree0

Oviedo?

TC

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Degs, Distin should be considered fastest because he defies science and the laws of time and space. How can something so big move so fast? Baines and Coleman are pretty quick too, but Gibbo is the quickest thinker and decision maker on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one's mentioned Coleman.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2013 18:46:11
Oviedo
Distin
Deulofeu
Mirallas
Browning
Coleman
Baines
Barkley
Long
Kennedy
Baines
Kone
Jagielka
Mcaleny
They are all the players imo who I would consider to have pace wheras people like anichebe and lundstram are by no means slow but I wouldn't consider them pacey and imo deulofeu is the fastest he just seems lightening and could probably edge distin and mirallas over a long period of time
