Why? I have never understood why mega rich people and consortiums fight to buy other often much smaller clubs but no one seriously trys to buy Everton.
Great club great traditions and support and I'd have thought very very attractive proposition for someone with money looking to get into football

Problem is they look at things like the stadium, ie citeh had inherited a brand new stadium so it meant no outlay in this area but just squad strengthening, most investors would view Everton as needing 'considerable' investment to develop a new stadium as well as providing funds to improve the squad.
We would really need a mega rich investor to really progress not just someone looking to put a few million into the club as a short term fix.

Me to its what makes me wonder if the club is really for sale or do they tell us it is to keep us happy

Good evening
Do Everton need to qualify for the Europa League or are they automatically in the group stages?

Hodman they are straight in to the group stages. So a later start and less disruption to our pre season.

Does anyone know what's going on with Stones' agent situation? I read something about him delaying a contract with us because another agency tried to lure him away and his current agent is taking legal action and it's all complicated and boring. Anyone know how this effects us?

As much as I am pleased with the contribution of Garath barry last season, it's about time he gave us an answer, as to what his intentions are for next season. As far as I understand it, he has been offered £60,000 per week on a two year contract, not bad for a man of 33, so, if it's not to much trouble Mr Barry, staying or going?

I think there are younger and cheaper options out there, although he did well for us.

I forgot to mention my own hope; Jordan Ayew, who, for me, has been the most impressive attacking player within our reach. Anyone know what his existing contract is about and who is sniffing?

{Ed025's Note - he is out of contract as far as i know smeggs, but i dont know the interested parties mate..
He's not out of contract. Plays for marseille and was out on loan last season.

{Ed002's Note - Jordan Ayew might be available for loan again and enquiries have been made by Hull, WBA, Stoke and Nice. There has been no direct approach from Everton to l'OM but they have had a discussion with his agent. Hull is pushing for an early agreement but the new head coach has only just arrived at l'OM and the club are putting efforts in to other incoming and outgoing transfers right now. Nothing will happen until after the World Cup. If a good enough offer is made, l'OM would sell him.}

Who is the Johnson playing right back for USA tonight? Is it Bradley Johnson (that name rings a bell) who ever he is he is putting one of the more accomplished performances of any player at this (arguably the most fun to watch ever) World Cup. If he isn't in the prem he should be. Not saying we should go after him far bigger issues than right back to fix but he looks really good going forward and in his positioning, plus great touch and technique.
Apart from that spotted nobody other than Mertens who is already well known and maybe A.Ayew of Ghana who has caught my attention and who would be in our range of signing. Howard has done his typical could of done better followed by a world class save!
Great World Cup, now looking forward to a great transfer window, my birthday is coming up Bobby give us a good present hey?

{Ed007's Note - Fabian Johnson it is, Svenny, he was born in Germany and has just joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from Hoffenheim on a free transfer.}
Yeah googled him after posting (probably should of done that before) missed the boat on that one for a free. Marking Ronaldo but still an attacking threat trying to think of a better free transfer on offer, he is really sound should have an assist to his name how Bradley missed that?

Seriously though this Johnson guy has for me given the stand out 90 minutes of the tournament so far. Remarkable. Just vaguely understood from swedish commentary that he is actually a left back, even more impressive.
